I read this book in 2020 and received an audio copy from the author in 2021

I love it when audio books are released a while after I have read a book.  I get to relive it all over again and I love the OH yeah I forgot about that moments. I enjoyed listening to Melissa Schwairy narration on this book.

Review posted from 2020:

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I had so many emotions going on inside while I was reading this book.  Talk about one heck of a rollercoaster ride. There was so much love and hate going through my heart throughout this book.  I love the boys but there was a time they needed to take a step back and trust what Ariel was doing.  They should know while she does put herself in danger it is usually done out of love and for them.  The boys tend to forget that as they feel they are the ones that need to protect Ariel.

I was so sad when some showed their true colors and I like Ariel do not thing I can come back from that nor will they ever be seen is a good light. Ariel went through some tough times and is able to get back up but this wow I’m not sure this will ever be something she can get over.  I’m afraid it will have some serious consequences but no one could have expected that.  Trust me when you read about it you will understand.  Ariel has a big heart and seeing what she saw will be hard to get past but I’m sure the guys will do their best to get her through it.

I have to say I so enjoy seeing Ariel’s bond with her men grow.  There were so many wonderful scenes between her and the guys.  Loved getting to see more of the twins, Damien and Jullian.  Even enjoyed seeing a bit more of Trenton and Simon their faithfulness to Ariel warms my heart.

I love seeing Ariel’s family grow.  What started as just her has grown into her coven, Rain, Trenton and Simon, Baxter, and Isobel. Her family just keeps on growing and I love this for her.  They also find an ally in Raven.  I’m on pins and needles waiting to see what big thing is going to happen with Ariel and her growing family.

Mary Martel was born in West Michigan and spent the majority of her life there. She currently resides in North Dakota with her husband, and her two beautiful daughters. She’s an avid reader, and when not writing she can be found with her nose stuck in a book.

ARC Review by Twinsie Melinda

I received a copy of this book from Booksprout to leave an honest review.

I love this series and these guys are tough but so loving and protective when it comes to their ol’ ladies and family.  I will always “one click” this series, TBH even though I received an ARC I also preordered it and I will purchase the audio when it comes out.  I was not sure about this one before jumping into it only because I didn’t know the main characters very well.  They are not as prominent in the other books but side characters that are known by main characters.  Michel and Wrin did not disappoint this was just as good as the other books.

Doc has been best friends with Red for a long time and has been helping most of the Ol’ Ladies over video chat.  Doc is receiving death threats and need to get away while they figure out who it is.  So she decides that it is time she pays the residents of Turnabout Creek she has been treating a visit. While visiting she runs into another visitor, one she names Chief.

Wendell Washington has been in the Navy for 20 years and is retiring. After loosing his wife and son years ago he doesn’t quite know where he is going to put down roots.  He never had to think of this before because he has always been on a ship with others giving orders.  He makes the decision to go to his friend Annie’s wedding in Turnabout Creek.  He is still haunted by the loss of his wife and son and has to work through a lot of issues while here.

Chief has PTSD when it comes to dealing with the loss of his wife and son but Doc is able to help him with this. Chief and Doc have amazing chemistry from the start but can Chief overcome the thought of being able to protect Doc unlike he was able to with his family. I thought their banter and jabs regarding the others choice of military branch they served in was great.  I enjoyed seeing Chief open up and learn to trust the Steels.

I enjoyed seeing all the Steel men and their Ol’ Ladies. I love when the men jump in and protect whoever needs protecting and will deal with anyone who stands in their way of doing this.  This one had my emotions breaks my heart when emergency’s come up and no matter what Red and his team does, they cannot change the outcome but they do deal with the reason why the emergency came up. I just want to say I loved seeing Hack in this one, I love him so much. We did get to see all the Steels and their family and it was nice to see them all again.  I also liked that we learned a little more about Red. It is always a good day when I get to read about the Steels and their families. Now I have to wait for this one to come out in audio so I can listen to all over again.

#Audio #Reread – Reaper’s Legacy (Reapers MC #2) by: Joanna Wylde – Narrators Tatiana Sokolov and Todd Haberkorn

Reaper's Legacy: Reaper's MC, Book 2

Reaper’s Legacy is a raw and intensely erotic tale in Joanna Wylde’s Reapers Motorcycle Club series.

Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart-and her virginity-to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn’t have been less romantic or more embarrassing. Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten.

She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious-her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands-with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club-to give them a better life.

Living with outlaw bikers wasn’t Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn’t giving her a choice. He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way.

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I read this book in 2013 and just picked up the audio to do a reread. I forgotten how much I loved this group of guys and their Old Ladies. Tatiana Sokolov and Todd Haberkorn did a fabulous job bringing life to these characters and reminding of the story of Ruger and Sophie.

Original review written 2013

I purchased this book because I was hooked on this series after reading Reapers Property. I was so caught up in this book from the time I picked it up that I didn’t want to put it down. If there was a way to get in the book to slap some since into both Ruger and I wanted to do in on many occasions.

Sophie decides that she is going to lose her virginity to Zach. However, she doesn’t get the romantic setting with flowers for her first time instead she gets a quickie on Zach’s stepbrothers couch. Only to be humiliated by having said stepbrother barge in see her sprawled out on his couch and toss them out. Then Zach informs her that the condom broke and she better not be pregnant. Well eight months later begins a cycle of Ruger being called to help Sophie out when Zach who should won’t and little Noah arrives into the world.

Jump ahead seven years and once again Ruger is called because Noah is in trouble. When Ruger arrives and sees the living arrangements Sophie is in he takes it upon himself to move them out and in with him since his step brother is not stepping up to take care of his responsibilities Ruger decides he will.

They live in the same house she is hesitant to get involved or let Noah around the Reaper’s. Ruger and Sophie both fight the feelings they have for each other. Ruger wants her to be his old lady but she wants a commitment and Ruger is having no part of that. Therefore, as long as he won’t commit to her she refuses to commit to him.

She makes friends with some of the old ladies and others. One night she goes out with Emma and Kimber. Things turn bad when Em and Sophie are kidnapped by a rival Motorcycle club. When Ruger is able to get Sophie back he decides that he is willing to give her the commitment she wants but is it a little too late for Sophie.

I loved the friendships and bonds that Sophie was able to make with the ladies. The makeover the ladies do on Ruger’s basement for Sophie and Noah was amazing and heartwarming. They welcomed her and Noah with opened arms and no judgments. I loved that we got to see Horse, Maria, Em, and Picnic again. I cannot wait to start Devil’s Game to learn about Emma’s story.

Some of my favorites:

He watched as the newborn opened its little eyes for the first time and looked right at him. They were blue and round and confused as fucking gorgeous. They closed again as the baby screwed up its tiny mouth, sucked in a deep breath and let out a piercing wail.

“Sophie’s my nephew’s mom,” Ruger said, voice going hard and flat. “One of her in dirty sweats is worth ten of you naked on your knees, so get the fuck out.”

#Audio #Reread – Reaper’s Property (Reapers MC #1) by: Joanna Wylde – Narrator: Stella Bloom

Reaper's Property

Marie doesn’t need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed, badass biker who shows up at her brother’s house one afternoon doesn’t agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now.

But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she’s not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse—she doesn’t know his real name or where he lives, she’s ninety percent certain he’s a criminal and that the “business” he talks with her brother isn’t website design. She needs him out of her life, which would be a snap if he’d just stop giving her mind-blowing orgasms.

Horse is part of the Reapers Motorcycle Club, and when he wants something, he takes it. What he wants is Marie, but she’s not interested in becoming “property of”.

Then her brother steals from the club. Marie can save him by giving Horse what he wants—at home, in public, on his bike… If she’s a very, very good girl, she’ll get lots more of those orgasms only he can offer, and he’ll let her brother live.
Maybe.

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I initially read this book in 2013 and recently picked up the audio for it to do a reread.

It has been so long since I read this book and hearing it in audio was an amazing refresher. I didn’t realize how much of the small details I forgot until it came to life again in audio.  The narrator, Stella Bloom, did a wonderful job of bringing this book back to life for me.

original review from 2013:

Where do I start? First off thank you to my Friend Angie for suggesting this book to me.

Marie just left her abusive husband and moved in with her druggie brother, Jeff. She is trying to get her life back on track when Horse, a member or Reapers Motorcycle Club, shows up at her trailer to talk “business” with her brother. Horse and the other 2 members of the MC scare the you know what out of her but Horse sees her and decides she is going to be his.

Jeff is caught stealing from the Reapers. Big mistake…now he must pay in blood. To save his life Marie agrees to go with Horse giving Jeff time to repay the debt. She has to do what he wants, when he wants, and how he wants it no questions asked and no complaining. She can walk at anytime but the blood debt has to be paid.

Horse wants Marie to be his ‘old lady’, but Marie wants no part of being someone’s property. There is a ton of miscommunication between the two since Marie has no clue what the biker life is about and Horse doesn’t do a great job of explaining it to her plus his timing on explaining things are bad at times.

I cannot wait to see who the next book is about. There are so many characters that were introduced that I want to know so much more about them all.

Valerie Twombly

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Valerie Twombly and I love chocolate, vampires, snuggling with my dog, and walking on the beach. Put them all together and I’d be in absolute heaven!

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

It depends on the series but usually the first book. You are building a new world but you have to be careful not to give too much away or you risk backing yourself into a corner in future books. You need to leave room to continue to build as you go.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

If I follow my gut and don’t question it, I find the story will turn out fine. I also tend to write in different series so I can keep my creative flow going.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Your creative buckets need to be refilled. Stop and do something you love and soon those buckets will be overflowing.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

Since I work full-time, only 1-2 hours.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

Man, that is a hard one. Derrick from Rescue Me. He is a firefighter who survived an accident while his best friend didn’t make it. He was so broken and he really got to me emotionally.

If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?

OMG, Jason Momoa and Chris Hemsworth! I don’t care who they play, they could pick any of them and I’d be thrilled. No shirts though. Gotta have some man chest with these two!

What is your definition of success?

When a reader says you touched their life in some way. That, is what I love most.

Miranda Lynn

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Miranda Lynn ..WOTR lifer, fun living, sweet, funny author of paranormal romance with a twist.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

The first book as it lays the foundation for everything else you write after.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I try to think outside of the box, like intersperses matings, crossing continental divides to help the species as a whole and challenging the characters beyond their limits.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Keep writing but remember self care is just as important as the deadline. A stressed writer is no bueno.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

Depends on the season. I average 4 to 10 hrs a week. A full time job and family that’s all I a lot at this time.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

Diego so far. He took me into his darkness and showed me that even characters like him deserve love. He also showed me how far someone will go for that love. His darker scenes were some of my favorite to write.

If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?

I would say His One True Mate. With Matthew McConaughey as Leo and Kate Hudson as Kat.

What is your definition of success?

Writing a book that readers love and that can inspire others to follow their dreams of writing themselves. Eventually the monetary side will also be a success, but for now the above are my successes.

#WOTR22 – #Review – With You (A Novella) by: J.M. Walker

Our world changed five years ago, and it left behind this gaping hole in our relationship.

We were now trying to figure out a way to move past a tragedy without losing ourselves in the process.

Married, with a son, we needed to communicate but neither of us wanted to talk about our loss. Instead, we focused on our little boy.

Finally, after having had enough, we took a trip, learned new things about each other, and fell into an even deeper kind of love.

We revealed new truths about one another and because of that, we could come out of this stronger in the end.

Author note: With You is part of the Perfectly Stated Series but Meadow and Shade can originally be found in With Us, book 2 in The Next Generation Series. With You is a continuation of their story and is 5 years after With Us takes place.

Goodreads

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. FYI should read With Us before With You.

Meadow, Shade and Sunny’s story gutted me. I mean really after loosing Sunny these two would have a rough road.  They were all starting to click each had their own rolls in the partnership and then to have a piece be taken away.  We all knew it was not going to be easy on Meadow and Shade. JM takes us 5 years out after the loss of Sunny.

The anniversary of his death is upon them and they are both struggling with the loss and with how they fit together without their other piece. These two are determined to make it work. Shade decides to take Meadow on a trip. A trip where they can reconnect and remember Sunny. I absolutely love what Shade does for Meadow.  Can I just say the Pizza OMG I could just taste that amazingness.

I absolutely fell in love all over again with Meadow and Shade. To watch all their struggles and how they cover come them or at least figure a way to move forward was heartwarming.  To loss a loved one and be able to fight to continue on without them is moving.

Love the way JM writes real life issues and makes the feelings jump off the pages and into your heart. Makes you feel like you are right there going through everything with the characters good, bad, and ugly. This may have been a novella but it scooped me up and sucked me in with all the passion and love throughout the book.

#review #partofaseries #mysterysuspense —The Flock (Ravenhood book 1) by: Kate Stewart

Can you keep a secret?

I grew up sick.⁣

Let me clarify.⁣

I grew up believing that real love stories include a martyr or demand great sacrifice to be worthy.⁣

Because of that, I believed it, because I made myself believe it, and I bred the most masochistic of romantic hearts, which resulted in my illness.⁣

When I lived this story, my own twisted fairy tale, it was unbeknownst to me at the time because I was young and naïve. I gave into temptation and fed the beating beast, which grew thirstier with every slash, every strike, every blow.⁣

Triple Falls wasn’t at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets.⁣

Secrets that cost us everything to keep.⁣

That’s the novelty of fiction versus reality. You can’t re-live your own love story, because by the time you’ve realized you’re living it, it’s over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to.⁣

Looking back, I’m convinced I willed my story into existence due to my illness.⁣

And all were punished.

The Flock is the first book of 2021 that I would give more than 5 stars if I could. And it left me struggling to write a review worthy of the epic story I just read.

This book came highly recommend from a friend. I went in blind and couldn’t put it down. It consumed an entire Saturday,  I was determined to finish the book. Nothing was more important than the answers to all of the questions bouncing around in my head.

The ending left me with more questions than answers but I know that I will always remember this story. The plot is original and the characters were unforgettable. I had ALL THE FEELS while reading and cannot wait to dive into book 2, where I hopefully find the answers I seek.

Hearts Ablaze
Chase and Xander’s paths crossed by chance one afternoon. Little did either of them know, that brief interaction would be the start of something remarkable.

A.d. Ellis has done it again, bringing another unlikely pair together. Two men who are complete opposites, yet completely perfect for one another.
I loved EVERYTHING about Chase and Xander. And the way she connected their lives to the lives of the Silver’s from her previous series was pretty terrific. As always, I’m highly anticipating her next release.

Hearts Afire
Ty Golden: Twenty-something male, works 3 jobs, enjoys wearing a little makeup, not looking for a relationship after a bad one left him scarred.

Vic Black: Forty-something male, very rich, wears cardigans and loves to crochet, not looking for a relationship- EVER- after his last boyfriend did him very wrong.

Ty and Vic’s paths keep crossing. I’m not sure they could avoid each other if they tried. The two of them worked so hard to deny their connection, but when they finally let go and accepted this mutual attraction, things between them were OH SO VERY HOT!

I loved Ty and Vic. Vic is definitely my favorite A.d Ellis character at the moment. I say at the moment because she always manages to change my mind with her next release so I try my best not to get too attached. Haha! Believe me, its easier said than done.

Hearts Aflame
Gabe is a nurse, Danny is a motorcycle mechanic. Gabe talks- A LOT. Danny is more of the quiet, brooding type. These 2 could not have been more opposite. And those things that made them so different from one another were the reasons they were completely perfect for each other. They balanced each other out and were ridiculously adorable together. I loved them as individuals but I loved them more together.

Gabe and Danny made an amazing addition to The Forged in Fire Series. I enjoyed getting to revisit everyone from that series and The Silver’s in the City series. While you don’t have to read the Silvers in the City series before starting this one, I highly recommend it so you get the FULL EXPERIENCE! All 12 men from these 6 books are fantastic. And don’t even get me started on the shenanigans caused by a couple of old ladies. These are definite MUST READS for all of you M/M romance lovers.
