This is my first book by Lorelei James. It’s comical, lovable, and very well rounded. Usually the books I read are so damn dark and gritty, that it was nice to read something with less chaos.
Trinity is an artist, sometimes struggling, but making ends meet. She keeps her family at arms length and rightfully so. They not only treat her like the “redheaded stepchild,” but they barely even acknowledge her presence.
Walker is from the infamous “Lund” family, but similar to Trinity, he keeps his distance from them for fear of getting the third degree on his dating life from his Momma, or getting roped into helping one of his sibs or cousins.
The supporting character cast is pretty huge. Walker has a ton of family… brothers, sisters, cousins, Mom, Dad, etc. Trinity has her friend Gen… I loved this girl… always pushing Trin to make decisions out of her comfort zone and opening her eyes to the bad juju going on around her.
So, to wrap this up… I found the story very well written and the characters exceptionally developed. The dialogue flowed and felt natural. The tension leading up to the climax was good. It’s 367 (kindle version) pages long and just a little bit too vanilla for my taste, but still good none-the-less.
