I met and fell in love with Gates in book 1. Something about a 400-year-old, unmated shifter tugged on my heart. So when I saw he was the 2nd book I was stoked!
Gates is gruffy but all loyalty and business. He is the guy. He is the Gatekeeper. He will follow through with traditions and make sure everyone is safe. When his Feral Breed is contacted to help a local shifter pack, he jumps. He follows Blaze’s orders to the T. He was stunned when he showed up that his fate was finally there.
Kaija is an Omega. She is an unmated Omega who is also happening to go into heat a bit early. She has some old-school idiots who feel they can force her t mate with her but thankfully her family says no way. When a group of nomads and all around bad guys kidnap her and other members of her pack, she is stunned to smell her mate before she can see him.
Kaija is over the moon that her mate is her but then because he is so old school and he doesn’t initially claim her, wellllll feelings got a but hurt buuuut gotta love Gates. He quickly explained the who and whys to her.
The couple still have to fight the mating haze to try and figure out who the bad guys are. After the threat to her is removed then they can be together, or can they? Will they ever be able to say safely in her pack knowing some are not going to allow an Omega to mate with an outside pack member?? Remember the DB from before who thought forced matings were cool???
I loved Gates and Kaija. I devoured it and am mad I can’t jump right into book 3…soon though..soon!
