Series: The Undaunted Debutantes Series (Book Three)

Author: Christina McKnight

Genre: Historical Romance, Regency England

Release Date: July 11, 2017

Word Count: 70,000

Quiet, reserved, Lady Ophelia Fletcher always has her nose stuck in a book; hence why she didn’t witness the death of her friend the fateful night of her passing. Now, she writes the Mayfair Confidential column to expose unsavory men as a way of making amends for not backing her other friend’s claims of murder. When a handsome stranger arrives to meet with her father, Ophelia is helpless to keep from investigating the dashing lord.

Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has a promise to uphold: find the book that proves his grandpapa worked as a spy for King George II and did not die as a no-good smuggler off the coast of Kent. Shrouded in mystery and scandal, the Parnell family has been at war with one another for decades, and Colin is determined to put a stop to it all by discovering proof of the family’s honorable past. Unfortunately, the book he seeks is in the hands of a fiery-haired beauty, and he’ll need to enlist Ophelia’s help to uncover the truth.

Ophelia is more than happy to use her skills to help Lord Hawke. But will their search for answers lead to misadventure, or will they get something greater than they bargained for: the truth and each other?

The Misadventure of Lady Ophelia by Christina McKnight

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

AHHH!! It all comes together in the end!!!

If you haven’t read this series in order then STOP and start at book 1.  You need to read all three of the Lady’s stories of finding love and finding who murdered their dear friend.

I don’t know why but I was so excited for Ophelia.  Maybe it’s because she is the shy one?  Maybe because she is a bookie like me?  Maybe it’s because a shy red-head is never the way red heads are written about?  I don’t know but I was so excited for her book and to find her HEA.

Each story begins and recaps what each girl was doing when they discovered their friend murdered on her wedding night.  When this book begins, Ophelia is left alone while her friends run off to get married.  She is happy but sad.  She is wishing the best but lonely as all can be.  When she spies a man desperately in need of a book who then shows up to talk to her father her need to know factor kicks in big time.

Colin and his grandmama Molly are looking to clear his family name.  They want everyone to know the truth about his dear grandpapa.  When Molly starts to cuss out poor Ophelia he is enchanted by this beauty and dearly embarrassed by his grandmama.  Fyi,,,,Molly made the book for me.  Her spitting and cussing was hilarious!!!!!!

The couple, with Molly’s matchmaking, are thrown into an inappropriate adventure together to find out the truth about his family.  The chemistry is great between the H and h.  We are dying for that first kiss and wanting them to declare some feelings when the mystery of the family history kicks in.  We see our enemy Lord Alborcorn is learking in the shadows so you know they are on the trail of something good.

When the story reaches it’s height and all the mysteries are revealed…….I kinda saw it coming but reading it made me Gasp a bit because WOW !!  But the best part was when Molly and Ophelia had their confrontation at the end of the book with Colin and his father…..Best. Laughs. Ever!!

I am sad to see the series end and would love to see them again just one more time………
