Celebrating Pride Month with Vinni George #authorspotlight #wotr24 #attendingauthor

Hello, and thanks for being here to Celebrate Pride Month with Twinsie Talk. I’m Twinsie Tenise, self proclaimed resident MM reader and reviewer over here at TwinsieTalk. Throughout the Month of June we will be sharing Q&A sessions we had with over a dozen authors who write LGBTQIA Romance or books with LGBTQIA characters. Each day will Spotlight a different author. We hope you enjoy getting to know these wonderful authors and find lots of new books to fill your TBR.

Special thanks to all of the authors who signed up and took the time to answer the questions.
Shoutout and HUGE thank you to Twinsie Jo for the amazing rainbow graphics and Twinsie Angie for her input and assistance. Love you both!

The month is winding down, it has been fun getting to know all of the LGBTQIA authors throughout June. Up next, the author I was super nervous to meet for the first time. I had only just finished Hold the Door before the event. I purchased the signed copy of that one, went home and was done with her entire back list before summer was over. Even the MPreg Shifter stuff. I DON’T READ MPreg Shifter stuff!!! Well I didn’t. Vinni changed all of that. Now I’m over here impatiently waiting for the next one to release. Oh and when she told me we were Besties, it made my year! I cannot wait to squeeze her next month. I even have an entire shelf cleared waiting for all Vinni’s published work! I’m so excited! Enough of my excessive rambling though, lets get back to the celebration.

Today we are Celebrating Pride Month with Vinni George.

Vinni George has been a lover of romance novels (of all shapes, sizes, and colors) since she first got her hands on one of her grandmother’s Harlequins and has never looked back. She lives in Ohio with her two favorite guys (her husband and son) and, hopefully—one day—a dog. When not writing her own stories, she can be found helping to polish other people’s novels. In her spare time, Vinni dabbles in performance art, quilting, and various culinary pursuits and enjoys traveling.

🏳️‍🌈What’s your name and a little about you?
Hi! I’m Vinni George. I have been a lover of romance novels (of all shapes, sizes, and colors) since I stole one of my grandmother’s Harlequins, and I have never looked back. I live in northeastern Ohio with my two favorite guys (my husband and son) and, hopefully—one day—a dog. I write contemporary MM romance, shifter MPREG (omegaverse where male omegas can get pregnant), and shifter romantic suspense (without MPREG). In my spare time, I dabble in performance art, quilting, and various culinary pursuits, and I enjoy traveling. My debut novel, Hold the Door, was a finalist and runner-up in Contemporary Gay Romance in the 2020-2021 Rainbow Awards.

🏳️‍🌈What made you decide to write LGBTQIA romance?
I was a long time MM reader, then an editor for MM authors before I decided to start writing. LGBTQ+ romance felt like the best fit for me because I felt most connected to the stories. I liked seeing my sexuality represented, even if it was in a character of a different gender. Everyone deserves to find the love of their life—if that’s what they’re looking for—and I think that’s as true in fiction as it is everywhere else.

🏳️‍🌈Do you prefer to write standalones or series? Why?
I’m a big fan of found family, and both of my finished series focus heavily on that theme. I think the found family trope lends itself to a series, so I’m definitely a series girl. I tend to plan a series in fours, which feels like a strange number, but both of my completed series are four books, and the series I’m working on for the rest of 2024 is also a four-book arc.

🏳️‍🌈Do you have a current WIP? Care to share any details?
My current WIP is the first book in a bad-for-good, fated mates, romantic suspense(ish) series focused on four orca (aka killer whale) shifter brothers. This first book is a bodyguard story with size difference (in both shifted and human forms) and a touch of opposites attract.

🏳️‍🌈What are your must have writing snacks and drinks?
I fell hard down a Water-Tok rabbit whole, so I usually have a big cup with some sort of flavored water on hand. I’m a sucker for freeze-dried Skittles and Pepper Jack Cheez-Its, but I try not to snack too much when I write.

🏳️‍🌈If someone has never read your work, which book would you recommend?
I think that depends a lot on what a reader is looking for since MM contemporary and shifter MPREG are sooooo different, but I think The Time-Out, which is a contemporary MM, opposites attract, strangers on a plane, beach vacation romance is a really good example of everything a reader can expect from a Vinni George book—an immersive sense of place, characters that are dealing with life the best they can, spicy sex scenes (including some sort of shower sex because apparently I can’t write a book without it), and swoonworthy moments that lead to an HEA.

🏳️‍🌈If you could recommend 1 LGBTQIA Romance (not your own) to readers, what would that book be?
Wow, hitting with all the hard questions. I think I have to say Him and Us by Sarina Bowen. I feel like these books were the MM gateway drug for so many readers, myself included, that they are canon and almost required reading at this point.

🏳️‍🌈What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love to cook, and recently I’ve gotten a little obsessed with playing Disney Dreamlight Valley on my son’s Switch.

🏳️‍🌈Anything else you would like to add?
Thank you so much for doing this!

I figured the best review for me to share today is the one that changed my mind about an entire genre. Thanks for opening my eyes to a whole new world, Vinni!

Unlikely fated mates buuuut I guess stranger things have happened. One being that I even picked up this book to read. Lol. Nothing against the book OR the author. I’m just not into shifters and definitely not into mpreg…
ANNNND now I’m basically lying to your faces! Its because of this book I’m obsessed. Like is the next book out? Did I only like it because it was written by Vinni George and I love all her words? Well YES BUT that is not the ONLY reason. I enjoyed all the other things too such as the plot, the genre, the cute af love story between 2 different shifter species that was both adorable and addictive. Give me more. I’m hooked. Thanks for helping me branch out because I’m not sure that I would have had it been any other authors words. I’m glad I did because now I’m open to a whole new world of romance.
