This is a good alpha military romance with danger, treasure hunts, and heart pounding suspense. This is one that delivers and takes you on a wild ride.
Kinley and Shane have a flailing first encounter since she literally falls at his feet. From that moment on, the chemistry is undeniable. Shane is that protective alpha ex-military hero that is swoon worthy. I love the strong sense of camaraderie and unity between him and his teammates. Their loyalty, brotherhood, and fierce protectiveness add so much to this story.
Kinley is stranded in Guatemala after translating an ancient Mayan text that no one else has ever been able to decipher. She is intelligent and capable, even when she is thrown into incredibly dangerous circumstances and way out of her comfort zone. She is not just someone who needs rescuing but she has her own strength and bravery, which makes the connection between her and Shane even better.
The audiobook narration brings the tension and emotion to life. The way Skye captures the characters and brings them to life is amazing. She made it easy to get completely lost in the story.
This was a great read with the long forgotten Mayan ruins, lost treasures, and nonstop danger that keeps your heart racing. I did not want to push pause on this audible because I had to know what would happen next.
