At Her Service by Michel Prince

Harrison Cordell knows the new ride app, RYD, created for those who work at AYS Protection, is a test from his boss. One that might bring him a huge promotion if he can woo the right kind of client.

When Mackenzie Turner’s delicate fingers tap on her phone, the line between client and lover will be tested.

Kenzie Turner is gutting out a boss from hell. Learning from one of the top CFOs in the country. When she’s asked to test out the new RYD app, she never thinks she’ll be picked up by a man she can only want, but never have.

There must be a way to get around the no-touch client rule; only she may need more than his touch when an outside threat puts her life in danger.

Will Harrison give Kenzie the ride of her life? Or will they stall out before they even leave the curb?

Review by Twinsie Angie

I purchased this book.

Michel was telling me over and over how much I would love Harry AKA Harrison and she was so right.  Harrison and his friends are retired service men who are providing bodyguard/Uber type rides to people who are wealth.  He is sent, begrudgingly, to a party of the rich and wealthy to make connections.  While there he sees a beautiful assistant to a wealthy woman.  He shots his shot to maybe make a connection with both ladies.

Kenzie works for the worst person on the planet to put it nicely.  Her boss is pretty much the devil in nice designer clothing.  She forced Kenzie to jump when she snaps and forced her to tolerate the gross sexual harassments by her son Teague.

When Kenzie is told to “give them a try” I don’t think her boss expected her to give Harrison THAT kinda ride…snickers.  Harrison and Kenzie are struggling to fight this attraction when Kenzie becomes an official client, and they aren’t supposed to “mingle” …well mingle they did folks and the mingling was delicious reads.  Wink wink.

We soon have some issues with Harrison, Kenzie, and both of their jobs plus a very delusional family with lots of weird “social norms”.

I liked the story and look forward to more from the series.  The guys we met in the story have me say HEEEEY fellas…….

Under the Ink

Naomi has been surviving but not living. Even with her best friend’s marriage looming in the distance, she’s managed to maintain a tenuous grip.

The bottle helps with that.

But when she loses her job, she worries that she’ll never get out of the godforsaken town she’s been trapped in her whole life.

Although she finds salvation in a temporary position as Sage’s drum tech for the first part of Shock Treatment’s upcoming tour, she hadn’t counted on Sage being intrigued.

Or becoming mutually attracted.

Besides, it would never work. Because if he were to see the real her, if he were to discover all that’s under the ink covering her flesh, he would never want her.

Fortunately, Naomi excels at pushing people away…

I was given this book for an honest review.

Jade is one of the queens for rocker books IMO.  I love the fact she really knows the “life” of how a rocker lives on tour.  She knows the gritty truth of road life and all its unglorious features.  I think she reads lots of rock autobiographies in her spare time.  She, herself, is a rock chick to the bone so it makes sense why her books are so genuine.

Sage and Naomi are two peas from a different pod.  They both have been through trauma.  Granted I think we all would agree hers was worse none the less, trauma is trauma.  When Sage’s bestie aka toxic buddy dies, he is given a new drum tech.  Enter Naomi.  She just wants to get the hell out of town.  She looks at this as a chance to see the world.  Her travels will help her pick where she will run too when she can.

Sage and Naomi meet and have a polite working relationship.  The more time the spend Sage sees Naomi…. like sees her sees her.  Naomi is enjoying the time she is with Sage but it’s scaring the hell out of her.  No one can love her.  She is too broken.

When work issues causes an problems for Naomi, she starts to spiral backwards.  Sage is the best dude EVAH in that he helps her as much as he can knowing he is losing his heart and the battle for her heart.

I seriously cannot stress how much I love Sage.  He was the best guy and does all he can for Naomi but ultimately, she has to want it for herself.

I loved loved loved Ginny and Walker.  I loved the scene at their wedding for Naomi.  She gets a lot off her chest. The wedding was such a pivotal time for Naomi.    Sage and Naomi kind of reminded me of the battles Ethan/Val had in Bullet expect this time the rolls were reverse in who was the care taker and who was the not so great person in the relationship.

The last chapter…sigh…perfection to a T.

i was given this book by the author for an honest review

Waylynn just witnessed her mom telling the guys about her past before she was ever able to. and she is just so shocked and embarrassed to say the least. but once her mom leaves, she lets the guys ask questions and tries to explain the voices and her past the best she can, and the biggest bomb shell that the voices she’s always heard belonged to her guys. things finally settle down and they get back into a flow of life with, Bates introduces Waylynn to his mom and her husband, and they plan to have a big thanksgiving dinner with Bates’ mom and her husband and Waylynn’s parents of course Oz and Memphis. but Waylynn’s mom always has some shit up her sleeve because she has nothing better to do, but Thanksgiving with a surprise guest and a whole lot of crazy hits the fan and a whole new round of I’m not surprised but are you kidding me happens. Will Waylynn stand up to herself with her mom, can Bates, Memphis and Oz really protect her from her past. this is an amazing story with so much heart and love and emotions that get you wrapped up and makes you feel it to your core. I’m so sad this is the last book but what an amazing ride.

Albany lives in Michigan where she’s happily married to her high school sweetheart. She spends most of her time juggling her four children’s extracurricular activities, with her nose stuck in a book. When not reading you can find her writing her very own book boyfriends. Albany’s passion is writing romance with real characters that are far from perfect, but always seem to find their own happily ever afters.

#WOTR23 #attendingauthor #AuthorSpotlight – Alison Bliss

Alison Bliss

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Alison Bliss. I’m a bestselliing, award-winning author of steamy, laugh-out-loud contemporary romances and rom-coms. I’m a born and raised Texan who currenly resides in the Midwest with my husband, two teenagers, four dogs and two cats. I enjoy swimming, canoeing, hanging out with my family, watching movies, playing games, crafting, refinishing furniture, and working on renovation projects with my husband.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

The first book is usually the easiest for me because the character’s world is a blank slate. But once you create that world, the following books in the series have to continue what you started. That sometimes can be constricting while writing.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I try to keep things fresh by not writing the same character over and over. My Perfect Fit series is a great example. Each book features a plus-size heroine, yet each heroine is very different from one another. In Size Matters, Leah is my self-deprecating, always on a diet heroine. While in On the Plus Size, Valerie is a confident, sexy heroine who doesn’t have the same hang-ups. Then there’s More to Love where my heroine, Jessa, is a gourmet chef and total foodie. She’s more on the neutral side when it comes to her size, but there’s a fun twist in that one where the hero is a food addict who struggles maintaining his weight.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Don’t quit. The only difference between an aspiring writer and a published author is that one didn’t stop writing.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

A typical writing day for me is somewhere between 4-6 hours.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

My favorite character to write was Emily from Rules of Protection. I had so much fun with her character that I found myself laughing out loud at things that she would say or do. She was sassy and funny, and she frustrated the heck out of the hero by not following any of his rules.

If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?

Rules of Protection would be a fun movie. I think Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone would be hilarious in it.

What is your definition of success?

Any achievement that makes a person proud.

#WOTR23 #MC #OppositesAttract #LoveTriangle – Firestorm, Sons of Templar book 2 by Anne Malcom, Narration by Emma Wilder

Firestorm: Sons of Templar MC Series, Book 2

Amy Abrams doesn’t do love. Nor does she do emotional attachments, unless you count the connection she has with designer handbags. She grew up in an Upper East Side penthouse, which had about as much affection within its tastefully decorated walls as Castle Dracula. Her family is the precise reason why she points her red-soled heels firmly in the opposite direction of that dreaded four-letter word.

Then it happens. Love. It comes right out of the blue and knocks her off her six-inch heels. She learns that love comes with pesky side effects such as heartbreak, which seriously messes with the complexion. Amy promises herself that she’ll never open herself to that horrible feeling again. She doesn’t count on an infuriating, albeit drool-worthy biker to roar into her life and ruin the plans she had of locking up her heart.

She keeps her distance, wary of the sinfully sexy biker whose tattoos should read “Warning: dangerous alpha male, will screw up your life.” Amy may be an Upper East Side princess, but she wasn’t looking for Prince Charming. She wouldn’t mind the name of his hair stylist, though. Brock certainly isn’t a knight in shining armor, but he consumes her, body and soul. Drama pulls them apart; danger will bring them back together. When Amy is threatened, Brock is there, ready to save her life. Her heart is another story.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I purchased this audiobook.

Emma’s voice was amazing as I expected.  I absolutely love how she brought the characters to life.

GAH! I have been dying to read this book.  Brock and Amy.  LAWD these two need to be locked into a room for a week because being locked away for a weekend didn’t help the situation.  LOL

This book is a time hop from past to present.  We see Amy falling in love with Ian and we see how the yard fight with Gwen happened.  We also see how her and Brock start.  We can see the push and pull ..the chemistry…everything.  Opposites exploding for sure.  Amy needs someone like Brock,  He doesn’t take her shit and loves her for her…fancy clothes as all.  I loved Ian but he, like she said, placed her on a pedestal.    He didn’t challenge her the way she now knows she needs.

Brock….OMG I wanted to punch him so many times but an alpha male has issues when the women he wants is so foreign to him.  He has no idea what to do with this strong independent female.    H learned quickly that telling he what to do was not the right thing at all!!

The story is a time hop because the present is Amy …well finding trouble….like big trouble thanks to her family name and connections.  I loved her uncle Garret sooo much.  But when Brock stands up to her family, I think I was totally head over heels in love at that point.  Seeing someone take care of Amy like she usually does for everyone she loves….yup, I was a goner.

Ok Bull you have my attention.  I am starting your book next.  I don’t know if my heart can take what I know will be covered.  Having to see you relive your nightmare…..sigh…..

Anne Malcom has been an avid reader since before she can remember, her mother responsible for her book addiction. It started with magical journeys into the world of Hogwarts and Middle Earth, then as she grew up her reading tastes grew with her. Her obsession with books and romance novels in particular gave Anne the opportunity to find another passion, writing. Finding writing about alpha males and happily ever afters more fun than reading about them, Anne is not about to stop any time soon.

Dakota Trace

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Dakota Trace. I’m an avid reader, crazy mom/nana, a health care worker and sometimes author. Been writing since I was a teenager before getting published in 2008. Dang where did the time go? I love to write in various genres from contemporary erotic romance, menage, male/male, bdsm, and my latest addition: daddy doms.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

I’d have to say the others after it. Such high expectations from the readers.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Don’t beat yourself up when the writer block comes. We all experience and like most things, it will pass. (This is from an author who’s coming off a three month writer’s block.)

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

When I write, it’s usually two to three hours.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

I’d have to say Willem from my Rawhide Ranch books. He’s a very old-fashioned Daddy Dom who isn’t in a rush to get to the good parts. Every part of the relationship is a ‘good part’ for him. He wants the whole person, just not what his lover can give him in bed.

What is your definition of success?

Success? Having one person find joy or the ability to escape into one of my stories. If I entertain even one person, then I’ve done my job.

Pardon: Knights of Paradise MC by [S.J. Chaynie ]

I know the risks of being undercover in an Outlaw Motorcycle Club. I know that being a woman means I have to work twice as hard. I expected violence. I expected drugs. What I didn’t expect was him. The man is a mystery. Gorgeous, perceptive, and alluring. I’m here for one reason, and one reason only. To take them down. But why is the solid line between right and wrong starting to blur? I prepared for this. Trained my mind, my body, and perfected my story. But the one thing I didn’t prepare was my heart, and it’s leading me into a dangerous direction. Directly to the enforcer.
This is an adult novel intended for mature readers. Book 3 of the Knights of Paradise MC Series. The final book.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I was given this book for an honest review.

I am such a fan of this series.  I loved the love story of the first two books.  I would recommend reading the first two due to the mega twists the author threw in.  I would say this is not really a standalone.  You could read it but the over arching ARC of the backstory might leave you confused.  Just trust me, read the books.  They are so good!! Mav and Tanner but Dom and Dani!!!  I am not sure which I love more before Widow and Lexi.

In book 2, Dani finds out that one of the original founding members isn’t as dead as they all assumed.  It was up to club enforcer Widow to find things out.  He also is dealing with the fact Viper escaped them in the last book. Viper better keep hiding out because he has some revenge coming his way.

Lexi is an FBI Agent.  She is looking to take down the bad guys.  She lost her sister to drugs and wants to clean up the streets and anyone who s dealing.  Her slimy boss sends her undercover to watch the Knights MC. Her first day she sees Widow and he sees her.  The chemistry is crazy from jump!!

Widow is a hook up kinda guy.  He keeps his bed business quiet.  He really only has one friend with benefits, but Lexi makes him feel and want more.  Lexi and Widow dance around each other at the club until….wellllll Lexi hears something she should not have seen.

The chemistry of Lexi and Widow at that point becomes even crazier!!  WOOF.  He takes her because he needs to know if she is an enemy or a friend to the club. The more time they spend together the blurrier the lines come, especially for Lexi being an undercover agent.

The story is amazing.  The club and the mystery of who was backstabbing them, Lexi as an FBI agent, and the dead but not dead member of the club. The epilogue made my heart so happy because I cant wait to see what happens to all the kids.

S.J. Chaynie is a small-town Texas girl who has found a love for writing. She enjoys writing romance, with a sprinkle of suspense, and a little humor. If she is not busy writing her newest ideas, she is spending time with her husband and two beautiful daughters. She believes a good book and a lot of laughs is the best medicine. She brings suspense, love, angst, and sometimes the occasional heartbreak to her stories. Always a HEA, but every character and story she holds close to her heart and hopes they touch yours as well.

#Reread #Review – Reaper’s Fire: Reaper’s MC Series, Book 6 – By: Joanna Wylde- Narrator: Sean Crisden and Tatiana Sokolov

Reaper's Fire: Reaper's MC Series, Book 6

The club comes first.

I’ve lived by those words my whole life – assumed I’d die by them, too, and I never had a problem with that. My Reaper brothers took my back and I took theirs, and it was enough. Then I met her. Tinker Garrett. She’s beautiful, she’s loyal, and she works so damned hard it scares me sometimes. She deserves a good man – one better than me. I can’t take of her yet, because the club still needs me. There’s another woman, another job, another fight just ahead.

Now she’ll learn I’ve been lying to her all along. None of it’s real. Not my name, not my job, not even the clothes I wear. She thinks I’m nice. She pretends we’re just friends, that I’ve still got a soul. Mine’s been dead for years. Now I’m on fire for this woman, and a man can only burn for so long before he destroys everything around him.

I’m coming for you, Tinker. Soon.

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I purchased the audible for this series just so I could enjoy the Reaper’s once again. Below is my original review from 2016.

Oh Holly Crap where to begin this story had it all. I was all over the place with my emotions with everything they were all dealing with from situations they were in to the natural disasters going on around them. Not only did I have emotions for Gage and Tinker but for the side characters too. WOW did Joanna Wylde tell a great story and make me feel like I was smack dab in the middle of it all.

Gage was sent to find out what was going down with the Nighthawk Raiders MC and as part of his cover he had to make Talia, who was the MC’s President Sister, his girlfriend. WOW was this chic a piece of work no scratch that she was psycho seriously she needed serious meds! I felt bad that Gage had to be with the crazy one. Anyway he had to secure a job and a place to stay and was able to do this by becoming Tinkers handyman and living in her building. Man oh man were the sparks flying between these two but no way Gage could cross that line and blow his cover.

Tinker left her ex moved home to take care of her Dad after her mom died. I loved her determination and she was dedicated to her dad and her business. The way she stood up to her ex I was cheering her on at that point. Loved her BFF and the moments they had on the porch drinking wine ‘man watching’.

This was an amazing book so many twist and turns I had my heart in my throat so many times wondering what was going to happen was there going to be a town, who was going to make it through everything. Oh to see the Reapers were great and the hard time Pic gave Gage each time he talked to him was priceless. This book has something going from jump and will not let me go until the last word was read. I so love these men and Joanna does a great job drawing me into the story and not letting me go. I cannot wait for the next one.

#Reread #Review – Reaper’s Fall: Reapers Motorcycle Club, Book 5 – By: Joanne Wylde – Narrator: Nelson Hobbs and Saffron Martindale

Reaper's Fall: Reapers Motorcycle Club, Book 5

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

Goodreads

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I purchased the audible for this series just so I could enjoy the Reaper’s once again. Below is my original review from 2015.

I have been waiting on this book because Painter did not set well with me in the past and I wanted to give him a chance to redeem himself after everything he put Em through.

Melanie has not had an easy life. After her mother up and left her Loni took her in well she was Jess best friend. Melanie met Painter after she blew up Loni houseon accident. To Melanie he seemed nice after all he let her borrow his car for the day and that turned into a year when he got tossed in prison. So what’s a girl do she writes him letters. That’s right at this point I am yelling someone tell this girl he is not good for her. He does not do relationships she will only get hurt like Em.

OK anyway painter gets out and tries to stay away from Melanie but something is always pulling them together. Everytime I think Painter has changed and he does something good he makes a poor decision and I’m like yeap there’s the Painter I remember.

The finger painting scene was one of the best. Then to see him when he finally determined to be in Melanie’s life was great but was it a little too late for Melanie. When it came down to Standing by to watch things happen and standing up and doing something about really showed how much she changed throughout the book. No matter how hard things got or what was thrown her way she picked herself up dusted herself off and kept moving.

I did like this story it was hard to watch all of the poor decisions Painter made time and time again was glad to see Melanie get some closure regarding her mother. I did enjoy the Bonus Epilogue. Oh I hope things are able to work out between these two.

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I purchased the audible for this series just so I could enjoy the Reaper’s once again. Below is my original review from 2014.

I have read every book in this series and I don’t know how Joanna Wilder does it but the books get better and better. I know I said Devil’s Game was my favorite, but Picnic past all of them by far. I was drawn in from the minute I started the Prologue and didn’t want to put this one down.

This is different than the other in this series as Picnic is older and has no intention of taking on an Old Lady. London has been taking care of her cousin’s daughter, Jessica, and has no interest in becoming a part of the MC world only to work for them to pay her bills, until London has to ask Picnic for help. We all know when you ask for help it comes with a price..so she has to clean his house. They both deny their feelings refuse to give in. However, the chemistry between these two is hard to deny.

Jessica is your typical teenage kid. Doesn’t like rules and it hell bent on showing everyone including London she is an adult and can make her own decisions. Problem comes when her decisions are bad ones and makes London have to make choices she doesn’t want to make but believes she only has one option. WOW can I say is a whole new side to Picnic was seen shaking in my boots and not in a good way.

This has been my favorite of the series so far. The drama was remarkable and the twists that occurred were so unexpected and had me clutching my e-reader I could not turn the pages fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. The chemistry between Picnic and London was explosive. I loved being able to see the rest of the guys too. I cannot wait to see what happens next there are so many possibilities.

Some of my favorites:

“Sorry to interrupt,” I said, wondering if my voice sounded as shaky as it felt. “Do you want me to reschedule, or can you move to your bedroom? I generally frown on cleaning around people while they’re having sex. All sorts of potential OSHA violations.”
“You know, I want to stay pissed at you, but you’re just too cute sometimes,” he said finally. “I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone like you, London.”

“You do that. I’m small, Reese, but I’m persistent. Like a rabid ferret. Don’t make me bite you, because my teeth are very sharp.” “Didn’t know you were into that,” he whispered. “You keep surpisin’ me, London.”

“Drink up, bitches! If God wanted us sober, he wouldn’t have made shot glasses so cute!”
