Outbreak: A Zombie Novel

Emily thought she could survive the apocalypse and save her sister from hordes of undead. She was wrong. By the time she found her sister, it was too late. All hope was shattered. Heartbroken and disillusioned, Emily returns home. There’s just one problem: her haven is no longer empty. Someone has moved in.

Neil was a leader long enough to know when to cut his losses. Surviving in the city was one major loss. He gathered his friends and hoofed it to the forest. He knew there would be abandoned farmhouses and plenty of land. The fewer inhabitants before the apocalypse struck, the fewer zombies to deal with after.

The house they find is incredible. It’s isolated, well stocked with food, and Neil even finds a few loaded guns. Soon it becomes obvious that the home isn’t as empty as they originally thought, however. When the owner returns, she demands that Neil and his friends move out. She seems to have no problem with the idea of tossing them out on their asses, but there’s a major problem.

A storm is coming, and it carries with it a greater threat than just zombies.

I received this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Zombies! Need I say more? This is a standalone novel that gives you a bit of everything. There are so many emotions that are part of this journey, and everyone has their own story with their own demons to fight. This story brought a rag tag group of travelers together and they almost made it work. You know that saying “When it rains, it pours”? Well, just when this group seems to catch a break, the sh!! hits the fan. The characters are very relatable. They are regular people like you and me who were trying to figure life out. Then, BAM! They are forced to survive. Each character’s back story will humble you. It’ll really make you wonder what would really happen and how would you handle it. Each had their vices and crazy as it may seem, they even had some happy times during the Z apocalypse. This story will make you laugh, will give you the warm and fuzzies, and some of it can be a bit gory. Best of all, you will NOT see what is coming and are definitely not ready for the end. I swear that when I finished this book, I had one of these moments that just made me sit there, like wow, that happened. I had a book hangover! I am still going over this in my head going, how could that have happened? Seriously, you need to read this!

An unimaginable note.

A plea for help.

I purchased this book.

ZOMBIES!!  YYYYEEEEESSSS!!  Ok so anyone who is scared of zombie books this one isn’t very gory, but it is intense with fighting and running for safety from hordes.  If you want to read a book about great interpersonal relationships and how the world has gone to hell..this is your book.

Tiffany, Gregory and Kendra are just living life the best they can in their treehouse above the world in an open pasture when a child stumbles into their safety zone.  Riley is 7, alone, and looking for her dad.  She admits to what she has seen and what she has lived but needs to get to her dad is another town. The trio decide to help her vs having her stumble onto zombies or even worse, HUNTERS AKA Bad humans.

The story is a look into what it would take to help someone you don’t know when you aren’t even sure if who they are looking for is alive but also putting yourself at a great risk.  I loved the relationship the 3 had and when Riley joins the group how they all do everything they can to hep her feel safe.  They all want to see this little girl who was born in the crazy zombie world find her dad.

I admit there were a few EEEEK moments and even a couple teary ones.  But I loved the world LC created and can’t wait to grab another novel to read.

I was given this book by Bookspout for honest review.

WHOOP WHOOP!!!  Zombies are my JAMMMMMM!  I am so excited to find an author who has a TON of zombie books in her library.  Momma is gonna be BUSY!!!  LOL

This book starts out hard and fast.  We meet Winter who is just wanting to chill out and drink some drinks while watching a movie on the Lido Deck…cool…amiriiight??  I mean ya gotta give your liver a break after 3 days of nonstop vodka time.  Winter is there on the cruise thanks to her friend Angela, who doesn’t believe in giving her liver a break. Winter is a typical 20 something trying to figure her life out when a blood curdling scream happens……WHUUUUU….a man ate some dude at the bar??  This cant be happening…and yet it is!!!!

Greta is a widow who won this awesome *insert sarcasm* trip who is woken up by screams and running in the hallway of her room.  She grabs her bag and runs to hear people discussion cannibals…no way…can’t be!!  Then she stumbles into Winter and Isaiah while trying to get outta dodge!!

Isaiah is trying to get his chill on.  He works to hard and isn’t into the fling lifestyle with the ladies like his friends but when he sees them get bit, he knows something isn’t right about those “freaky chicks”.

The three form an alliance to get off the boat and get to safety all while fighting zombies and dealing with being adrift at sea.  I absolutely loved this story, and I cannot wait for more!!  I wanna know what happens because where this book left off has so many possibilities!!!
