I don’t know what it was about this book but it had pulled in from the very beginning. Colt just wanted to get away for a while when he had a knock on his door and then the girl that was on the other side fainted in his arms and their magical journey starts there.

Since childhood, best-selling and award-winning author Amy Hale has been creating exceptional stories that summon a whirlwind of emotions and inspiration unto the reader. She loves creating characters and worlds from nothing but her imagination and a few glasses of wine. Her popular paranormal series The Shadows Trilogy has earned multiple awards, as have the Havenwood Falls books, of which she is a participating author. Her love of the written word has not only resulted in her writing some of her reader’s favorite adventures, but has also manifested itself in the form of some seriously overloaded bookshelves. She’s convinced it’s not a sickness.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

I think the first is hardest. You have to build everything from scratch. Once you have the characters and world built, it’s a little easier to run with.

What comes first? The plot or characters

It depends on the story. I’ve had it happen both ways. Sometimes a character will come to mind after seeing something that inspires him or her. Other times I get an idea for a situation and that spurs on the formation of the characters.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

I’m happy to say that I have met my unicorn author. I’m a huge Julia Quinn fan and I had the honor of meeting her a few years ago. She signed all my well-worn and often read books. I was just starting my writing career and meeting her and talking with her was a huge encouragement.

If you could ask that author three questions about their writing, writing process, or books, what would they be?

What inspired her Bridgerton characters? When did she realized she had the gift for historical fiction? Has she ever wished to write in or had ideas for other genres?

What is harder? The blurb writing, naming the book, or naming the series.

The blurb. I don’t know why, but I can write entire books with less difficulty than I can write a couple of paragraphs about the same books.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

I think my favorite memories all involve meeting readers. Talking with them about their favorite stories, from me and other authors, is always a joy.

What is your definition of success?

I see success in many different ways, but I think my biggest measure of success is knowing a reader has enjoyed my work. If I’ve written a story that grabs someone and entertains them, I’ve properly done my job.

He loves his work but doesn’t have time for much else, especially relationships. Review by Twinsie Angie

I purchased this audio book.

This book is about Ellie who has had a ROUGH life to stay the least.  She witnessed her mothers death and now her father has died mysteriously so she is numb.  Her old family friend is worried because people keep sending letters and trying to make attempts on her life.  Ellie is jut not that worried about herself and so she ignores all the concern for herself. Enter Pax.  He is hired to be a friend to Ellie but mainly PROTECT her at all costs.

Pax and Ellie have an attraction, but both are pushing the feelings away.  He thinks of her as a job and she knows she is horrible at relationships given her last one.  He ex just won’t give up even when she caught him cheating. She is being manhandled at a club with friends. She is almost kidnapped!!  Ellie just can’t get a break!!

Ellie and Pax are being thrown together while also denying what they feel about the other.  Pax is also worried because Ellie is not going to like it if she discovers he is secretly working as a security detail for her family friend. I did enjoy Pax grabbing Ellie a few times and making the first moves but then wanted to throat punch Ellie for walking it back….guuurl when a man kisses you like THAT you don’t stop and say but we are jut friends!!  LOL

The story is a mystery of who is trying to hurt Ellie and why.    I kinda figured out who the bad person was a bit though the story.  But the ride of the story was a good one to read for anyone looking for something with some twists and turns.

I will say I did enjoy the narrator’s voice in the story.  It was a warm sounding voice who made Ellie’s character seem likeable even when she was pushing Pax away at every turn.  LOL

Amy Hale

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Amy Hale and I’m an award-winning, best-selling author of paranormal romance, romantic comedy, and romantic suspense. I live in Southern Illinois with my wonderful husband and two fantastic children. We also live with more pets than any sane person should have.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

When writing I need a comfortable chair, a cup of coffee or large glass of tea, depending on the time of day, and my noise canceling headphones. Sometimes it’s just quiet, other times I write to music.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

I love meeting readers and getting to hang out with them. It’s also great to spend time with my author friends.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

I’ve met one of my unicorn authors – Julia Quinn. But if I had to chose another, it’d be J.K. Rowling.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I’m currently a sit and go kind of person, because I’ve had to change the way I do things. But I’m currently working on a new schedule where I can write consistently every day.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

It’s so hard to choose. There have been so many amazing moments. I think it was when a young lady approached me and so nervous she could barely talk. She said she loved my books and was anxious about meeting me. I gave her a big hug and tried to make her comfortable while we talked. She was just so sweet!

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

My most prized possession would be my signed copy of The Duke and I by Julia Quinn.

#WOTR18 #AuthorSpotlight – Attending Author Amy Hale @AuthorAmyHale

Amy Hale

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Amy Hale and I’m the mother of two amazing young adults who bring so much joy to my life. I’ve been happily married to the love of my life for almost 27 years. We currently reside in Illinois and are owned by one very self-absorbed cat named Jasmine. My husband and I are motorcycle enthusiasts and love to ride in our spare time. When we aren’t on the open road we enjoy watching Mystery Science Theatre 3000, spending time with the kids, and daydreaming about taking a seaside vacation.

When and Why did you start to write?

I’ve been making up stories and poems since childhood. I started writing professionally in 2003. I worked for various online magazines and websites in the health and diet industry. I also had a popular blog on similar health topics. I moved to writing fiction in 2014, with my first book debuting in January of 2015. Writing heartfelt and exciting stories for a living has been a lifelong dream of mine. I’ve always loved the way the written word can bring the imagination to life.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

Just a few of my one-click authors include Julia Quinn, Denise Grover Swank, Eric Asher, Jamie McGuire, & Colleen Hoover.

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

I’m always surprised at how a story will take on a life of its own as you write. You can plot it all out and then suddenly a character or situation changes things and you’re being pulled into a totally new direction. I’m often as surprised by the twists and turns as my readers are.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on my latest Havenwood Falls NA novella titled Flames Among the Frost.

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

I’m a plantser – I do both. I start my stories with a beginning and ending in mind. Then I pants it for a while until I get a feel for how the story will progress. As I near the middle I start plotting out the general ideas for each chapter to assure I’m staying on track. I really like letting the characters lead the way, but it helps to have some organization too.
