Review by Twinsie Kelly

I honestly don’t know where to start with this review. I have many anthologies and I will be the first to admit that I have never read every single story within. Well, I made a decision not to do that again. I read and read and read…..

Every.

Single.

One!

This is a decision that I do not regret in the slightest! There are so many great stories from all sorts of different genres and tropes. I have read stories from a handful of these authors (Nikki Landis, Miranda Lynn, Darie McCoy, AJ Renee, Brandy Slaven, Mellanie Szereto, JM Walker, and Jade Waltz), but I have not read stories from the remaining. I fell in love again with the writing of the authors mentioned above but boy do I have a bunch more that I am going to have to start stalking…just sayin!

Some of these stories are a bit of a teaser and will continue on and others may only be here for the anthology. However, there is a disclaimer at the beginning of each story so if there is a trope that is a hard no for you or perhaps has a trigger that you feel you should pass up, you have fair warning. I have to say, even with the warnings/disclaimers, I am happy to keep touting that I read every single one!

Now the real problem is that I don’t know which author to read next! There are not enough hours in the day. What a conundrum!

H. D’Agostino – Let Me Love You

A.D. Ellis – Reconstructing His Heart

Vinni George – Isaac and Andre

MJ Haag – Demon Sky

C.A. Harms – Starting Over

Kate Hawthorne – Flip a Coin

Danielle Keil – Between Pages and Hearts

Nikki Landis – My HERO Biker

Miranda Lynn – The Mating Cabin

Darie McCoy – Thrive

Molly McLain – It’s Always Been You

AJ Renee – The Boy Who Left (A St. Fleur Short Story)

Jamie K Schmidt – Beach, Please

Joel Shoemaker – A Mai Tai at the Edge of the Universe

Brandy Slaven – Second Chances

Mellanie Szereto – Mom I’d Love to Marry

Jen Talty – Harper’s Heart

J.M. Walker – Time Will Tell

Jade Waltz – Project: Adapt: Refresh

Amanda Zook – Healing a Gold Star Heart

Brandy Slaven

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Hey howdy hey, I’m Brandy Slaven. I love taking hikes in the mountains and walking on the beach every chance I get. Reading has always been one of my favorite things to do and one day when I couldn’t find the story I wanted to read, I wrote it. My current works are all reverse harem because I got addicted to the genre and can’t seem to stop. Eventually, I plan on branching out into some of my other favs such as horror and post apocalypse. Really though, I’m just a girl from small town Tennessee living her dream!

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

Personally, I feel continuing a series is harder than starting it. Either readers love the first book and there’s pressure to make the second even better, or the readers hate the first book and you lose motivation to keep working on it.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

It’s easiest for me if I treat my characters like people I know. So I typically don’t see them in make believe situations. More like they’re friends telling me their story and I’m recalling it for my readers.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Don’t give up! Even on the hardest of days! Keep pushing forward!

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

It varies, so it could be anywhere between 2-8 hours a day.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

Mel from my Lady of Darkness Series will always be a favorite because she was my very first and gave me enough confidence to keep writing. I will, however, say that Kendall from my White Trash Trilogy is right up there with her. I connected with Kendall so well that it felt like we were old friends.

If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?

I would love to see Reviving Kendall made into a movie! If I got to choose the actors? Let’s see, for Kendall it’d be Lily Collins, Teagan would be Joshua Eady, Lucas would be Liam Payne, Maverick would be KJ Apa, and Goose would be a young Chris Pratt.

What is your definition of success?

When a person sets a big goal for themselves and sees it through.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

I have read many books by Brandy and a few from KB Everly.  I enjoy the writing style and stories each author can craft.  I looked forward to this story because its RH and MC.  Those are a total jam for me.  The concept of all women MC is a great genre.  I have only read one other series like that, so I was super pumped.

I will say the beginning of the story was kinda wordy and drug a bit.  I know we are world building, but I did put the book down a few times when reading.  Gotta say, I did enjoy the buildup between Sidra and Goul.  I mean totally awesome banter and chemistry between the President and her Enforcer.  The whole “We can’t but we want” thing really worked for me.  Seeing them pine for the other *Chef’s Kiss*  LOVED it!!  I knew this was an RH but thought maybe this book was just a contemporary MF. Which would have been cool.  But then all of a sudden 2 other men are tossed in Sidra’s bed and I didn’t feel that connection she had with them like Goul.  But that is just me…maybe because I was really digging Goul???

I did like the story of the other MC club in town doing bad business and trying to cause issue for Sidra and her town.  Sidra and her crew are proud to be supporting the community and not destroying it like the other MC.

All in all it was a great start or a great addition to the Leather and Lace MC series.  Also I think the covers are beautiful!!!!

I was given this book by the author for an honest review

Where oh where do i begin this is the beginning of one of my favorite series, Kendall had a rough childhood having been taken from her parents in a good way she went to live with her nana and gramps which she loved because she knew she was safe. When Nana got sick they had to move into a trailer and there she met the VanPelts Brian, Casey and Will they became best friends and those 3 boys became very protective over Kendall. They keep close through out the years and plan to move to California after Kendall and Will graduate and live happily ever after. Well until a fateful night that took Kendalls future from her and left her empty and heartbroken. Ugh this book is exactly what i needed and broke my heart all over again. But to have Brian meet a few members of the quad was the perfect scene of past and future being together without knowing. Ugh i need so much more.

**Trigger Warning**

This story does mention self-harm and does NOT have a happy ending. If you can stick it out with Kendall’s terribly sad beginning, be sure to catch her second chance at love in the White Trash Trilogy.

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

I am a HUGE Kendall lover so getting this Prequel was what my heart needed.  I needed to feel the heart break for Kendall so make her eventual HEA with The Quad all that better.  If you have read Kendall’s series, you KNOW the VanPelts were her first love and they were taken away.  This novella gave us everything we needed to be in Kendall’s POV before she meets them.  We get to experience her loss of her loved Nana and man was that a rough one.  I had a few tears rolling down my face then.  We get to see her Gramps deteriorating after Nana’s loss but we get to meet Brian, Casey, and Will.

This book may only be 8 chapters, but it is filled to the brim with everything we need for the complete story of the boys and their girl.  I gotta admit I loved seeing The Quad pop up in the book and knowing Brian lied them, made it even sweeter to know these are the guys who will take care of their girl in the end.

If you are a fan of the series, you will absolutely need this book in your life and on your shelf.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

I was super excited to get this book because in Book 1, Blythe was such a mega snot I wanted to know more about her bitch ass.  LOL

But I gotta admit, as I read this book, I really didn’t like, nor did I connect with her. She is a bitch. Period.  I mean I didn’t find anything about her that I was like “Ok I get it now”.  She was very into her own wants and wishes everyone else be damned.

The guys in the book I loved.  They all were great and cared so much for her and put up with a lot with her.  They never ever stopped caring or pushing for more.  They even wanted to protect her from someone who they knew wasn’t a good person.

I guess I wish there was a bit more into the relationships between Blythe and the guys because most of the story was about her and not the guys.  The sexy times with the guys were good but I just felt it was flat as far as their love story goes.  I LOVE Brandy’s books so this one kinda took me by surprise that I didn’t love it like I have all the others.

It did a good job showing the ladies in the bookclub bonding and moved the arc along for their future books but yeah…..

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series. Really a group of women who don’t know each other come together in a book club.  These women strike up a friendship where even with their flaws they still band together and support one another. I was curious about Blythe in the first book and was so excited to learn more about her. She seemed to be blunt and opinionated at times. I was ready to find out what made her tick and wanted to know what made her Blythe. I was a bit disappointed when I didn’t connect with her like I wanted. However, oh boy did I connect with her guys and I loved getting to see a little more of her book club friends (yes I say friends even if Blythe may not see it that way).

I loved how everyone rallied around her the guys and her book club girls. Never giving up on her and always there no matter what her mood was or how snooty she got. Only true fiends and loves can look past your flaws and love you unconditionally no matter what.  I enjoyed seeing the ladies bond get stronger as the book went on. No matter how much distance she put between the guys and her they were always there for her and always had her back even if she didn’t know it or see it.

I do enjoy this series and love the concept of it. I am excited to see who the next book will be about and see these ladies bond grow even more.

I received a copy of the audio book from the author for an honest review.

This is the final book in this trilogy. What a wonderful journey it has been to watch these five go from high school to college and now forward. Allie Martina and Chris Patton did a great job with the narration and kept me engaged throughout the entire book. I was able to follow then easily going between characters.

This book we get to see Kendal, Teagan, Goose, Mav, and Lucas relationship grow. The wedding and honeymoon was fabulous all I can say is OH MY maple syrup. I love how they make sure they have alone time and time together. They have bumps in the road and not easy ones but the bond they all have gets them through it.

I enjoyed each book in this series. I am sad to see it end but maybe we will see more of this family in the future.

I received this book from the author for an honest review. I also received this audio from the author.

I loved the audio voices for Allie Martina and Chris Patton. They both brought the characters to life for me and made the story that much more amazing!

I fell in love with Mav, Teagan, Grant and Lucas thanks to my friend Mary introducing me to this hella good world.  Kendall is one tough chick who will NOT be what the expectation is for her….white trash continuing the cycle in the trailer park.  We have seen her fight and scratch her way out and when she meets the Quad it all falls in place for her.  Her men, now husbands, have done everything to ensure their love will endure.

We have seen the 5 grow from high school to college and now we see them all taking the final plunge into marriage.  We know the struggles will not be over so quickly given their unusual “family” dynamic BUT they wont give up any part of the group or sacrifice their love for Kendall.

When the story starts we see the marriage and honeymoon….damn the breakfast scene…holy hot shower after is allllll I gotta say!!!  WOWZER!!  Brandy I will never look at pancakes and maple syrup the same way and neither with the other guys!!!

From the honeymoon we see them living their lives.  We see the daily routines and trying to make time for everyone.  I loved how each couple got private time but they also remained grounded in their family time and dynamic.

We see Kendall begin to struggle with not being enough when things come into play plus we see the family taking on a parental roll that none of them understand more than Kendall.  This book gives us more insight to the new budding “family” plus we also see the changes each person is willing to make for the love of their “brother husbands” and new wife.

I seriously am so sad to see them go but loved the surprises we got at the end with some spin offs and novellas coming our way!!!  Whoop Whoop!!

#WOTR21 #CoWrite #Zombies #RH #Audio – Zombie Queen by Brandy Slaven and Mary Martel, Narrators: Kelley Huston, Jeffrey Kafer

The beginning…
The beginning is always the best place to start when reflecting on what has been.
Thinking back on it, my life had been perfect.
Middle class girl in high school with a happy home life.
My life had been full of nothing but promise.
Life was good.
Everything was great.
And then my whole world went to shit. In one day.
The disease came first.
Then the dead.
It was a fight for my life every single day from the start. But I was different from all the rest.
I had heard my mother’s screams while watching my sister become one with the undead. All the while feeling like there was absolutely nothing I could do to help them.
It killed me.
What’s more, it changed me.
I did everything I possibly could to survive on my own.
And then I learned how to survive with others.
By being their Queen.
Their Zombie Queen.
And by being the most feared woman they ever came in contact with.

This is a WhyChoose novel full of zombies, a sword wielding badass chick, and an army of dudes.
Recommended age 17+ due to content and language.

I received this audio book from the author for an honest review.

I have to say when I saw Jeffrey was a narrator, My heart SANG!! he narrates The Protectors by Teresa Gabelman and he MAKES IT!!! Kelley was a new voice for me. I enjoyed her voicing our heroine and thought she did a better job as the story moved along…maybe became more comfortable in the “voice” of Emerald??

I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing and crazy good this story is.  The first chapter will have you on the edge of your seat.  My heart was in my throat listening to Emerald tell you about the day everything changed for her.  If that chapter does not keep you totally enthralled, then when you hear the description of the life and surroundings Emerald has…I felt my skin crawling because it was so tense and so claustrophobic.  I was dying but in heaven dying!!  It was totally a good thing!

This book is so fast paced at times with so much action and then other times we are feeling the despair and fear of Emerald.  We know its been 16 months and we know she is sad, lonely and scared.  When the Sam appears I admin I was scared outta my mind because women aren’t treated the best in these worlds and Emerald knows this first-hand.  As the other guys start to show Emerald they are not the bad guys and can be trusted, we see her open up and hope beyond hope she had a safe place.  A Family to call her own.  Complete with a crazy Granny!!

The story is a lot of interpersonal relationships and dealing with the all the men and one Emerald.  But when Emerald makes some proclamations, I was like GET IT GIRL!!!  When our family is starting to come together and starting to find a rhythm, chaos finds them and its not even the crazy girl or the wild man who bring it home.

I loved the action and loyalty this family shows one another.  But sweet Baby Jesus if you ladies don’t write another book, Imma be broken.  I need some more time with some of the guys and Emerald.
