synopsis

A chance encounter changes everything.

But Joey, with her gorgeous eyes and blunt honesty, grabs Colin’s attention from the moment he catches her watching him from across the bar. He knows one night is all they can have. This mysteriously addictive girl ends up taking over every one of his dreams and nightmares, though, crossing the line of another night he’d rather forget.

Circumstances are never what they seem.

Melinda's Review

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I am enjoying Rebecca Brooke writing style. Yes, she draws you into the story makes everything so real like you are their fighting their battles with them and wanting to shake the ever-loving crap out of some of them at times. I was laughing at times, cried others, my heart sunk and at times it found its way to my throat. The drama and battles on the battlefield and at home were so real and frustrating at times.

Colin is a Ranger in the Army. It’s what he is and will always be. He knows nothing else and wants to be nothing else. He watched his best friend die doing what they loved and now he is left to deal with everything on his own knowing if he talks to anyone about the nightmares his career will be over. One night he meet a woman whit beautiful blue eyes but knowing he will be leaving on tour he walks away because making her wait 3 months before seeing her again is not fair, until he sees her at the camp when he arrives.

Joey is a pilot for the Army. She loves what she does and has the spirit to go with it. She is tired of putting her heart out there only to have guys walk away when they find out her job. Until she meets Colin they spend time together and then the unthinkable happens and their black hawk does down now they have to fight for what they want to get back to their jobs and each other. Is it possible or will it be too much.

The support system they have when they are dealing with everything is amazing. I love Daniele, tanner and Greg as much as Colin and Joey. When Colin hits rock bottom and boy does he hit rock bottom in a big way, who will be there to help him climb to the top again. He has pushed everyone away not only Joey but Danielle, Greg and Tanner. Can he overcome the destruction in his path or will he prevail and who will be left standing by his side?

I am a sucker for the real life tell it like it is military book. Joey is a strong tell it as she sees it kind of woman. I absolutely loved watching Joey and Colin’s friendship grow and my heart broke for Joey each time Colin pushed her away. The way all of them came together more as a family than friends showed the true life of a military family. Great story line, excellent drama, and I need more. I just found our Rebecca has a cook about Daniele, Nate and Tanner story you better believe I will be checking that out.

Synopsis
Just another one night stand…
Ryann despised the thought, but it was the only one she could draw when she woke up in an empty bed. Tired of being let down by everyone she cared about–aside from her brother–Ryann begins taking her life back, pushing back at all the bad and ugly life tosses at her.
Ryder knew the moment he left Ryann alone in bed he’d made a mistake. Running and hiding from his family for years, Ryder didn’t want to pull her into that life. She deserved more than constantly moving from place to place.
Ryann just can’t push again. Life is winning and she just wants to lay down and give up. Now, she must make a decision: to run from the truth, or step up and admit what she’s known all along. And Ryder… nine months later and he can’t get Ryann out of his head. He wants her more than he wants to run.
But there’s a terrible truth he has to face: it might be too late for Ryann to give Ryder his second chance.

Melinda's Review

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

After reading Ryder I was crushed at the end and I so wanted to know the rest of the story. I needed to know what was going to happen next and would Ryann and Ryder find their way back to one another.

Ryder took off in the middle of the night. That’s right no note, no good bye, no see you laters, or great knowing you just up and left. This crushed Ryann. You see Ryann never opened up to anyone, never let anyone in, she only trusted her brother. Then the one time she lets her guard down and lets Ryder in, he crushes her and leaves.

After leaving Ryder knows he made a mistake he is torn wants to keep everyone out and stay on the run but he cannot stay far from Ryann. He sets down roots and decides he is going to get Ryann to give him a second change. That comes sooner than Ryder expects when Ryann literally runs into him one day giving him an opening to get his shot. As always just as Ryann is letting her guard down again Ryders past catches up to him. Will his past be too much for Ryann and run or will she stay and fight for Ryder?

I enjoyed both Ryder and Second Chances to see how Ryder and Ryann come together by a chance encounter and connect as quickly as they did was amazing. Then to watch Ryder ride away from it one night crushed me and Ryann too. To be able to see these two find their way back to one another and decide to go all in only to have the past come back and threaten it all was heartbreaking. I loved seeing them together they were the perfect pair neither has a perfect past with Ryder and his trust issues and Ryann with her fears but they made it work when they were together. This was a great ride and I still wanted more Ryder and Ryann when it was over.
