Memphis, Missouri, the small town that Sawyer Kingham grew up in, a place that she vowed to never return to. Unfortunately, Sawyer is forced to break that vow when her mother unexpectedly passes away. Her mother may have been her best friend but she kept one secret from Sawyer-the truth about her father. When Sawyer returns to Memphis to she tries to find the answer she’s always been waiting for.

Navy fighter pilot Garrison Cocuzzo is seeking solace and anonymity as he tries to fly under the radar during his break from deployment. Dropping in on his grandfather who lives in Memphis, Missouri seems like the perfect place to avoid his family and gain the comfort of home while on U.S. soil. His plans of peace and quiet are quickly erased when Sawyer Kingham comes crashing into his life.

Sawyer seeks answers. Garrison wants tranquility. When the pair meet, Garrison knows he’ll stay by Sawyer’s side until she has the truth she’s been searching for. The real question for both of them is what happens after the facts are uncovered.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Oh Lyssa!!  Yes, I do want to lick Garrison too.  Your ability to write these alpha men who we want to throttle and then lick is why you are one of my favorite authors.  Does he top Smitty? UHM NEVER but he sure does come in 2nd place very nicely.

Garrison is a bitter, broken Navy pilot who hides out at his grandfather’s house in a small town when he is not on his deployments.  He has had a crappy upbringing, crappy girlfriend but he grandpa is the only one who really loves him and keeps it real for him.

Sawyer is a lost, broken soul.  Her mom has passed and that was the last family she has left.  She doesn’t know who her father is, so she is alone in the world and struggling with it all.

When the two meets, it was not under the best of circumstances.  They were both at their worst and both seemed to snap at the other.  When they spend a little bit of time together, they both realize the other person IS their soul mate.  But ow can they make it work with him being I the military and her living in another state.

The story was sweet with Sawyer looking for her father and having Garrison by her side.  He taught her that family doesn’t have to mean blood relations.  While Garrison is teaching her she too is teaching him some life lessons…not all women are bad and sometimes families are a blessing and not a curse.

Lyssa Layne is first, and foremost, the proud momma to her precious daughter, AR. In addition to working full-time and being a mommy to AR, she is also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a runner, blogger, and an infertility survivor.

Having watched one too many medical dramas and being inspired by author Rachelle Ayala, who introduced her to the world of indie writing, Lyssa decided to try her hand at writing a romance story. Her attempt turned into the Burning Lovesick series. You can find Lyssa’s own interests throughout her stories although all stories are fictional.
