#WOTR19 #Review – Heavyweight (Hallow Brothers Series book 3) by: Tricia Andersen

Heavyweight

Samuel Hallow is desperately in love. However, he knows his family won’t condone his relationship with his boyfriend, Henry. The brothers mate for life and neither man has had the mystical tattoo appear that binds them to the one chosen for them.

Delilah, Henry’s lifelong friend, comes to town and Samuel is consumed with unexplained lust. He and Henry both sleep with her and the tattoo appears on all three of them, marking the trio as mates for eternity. He nearly loses the others when he confesses his true nature – that he, like his six brothers, are werewolves. Although Delilah and Henry are angry and obsessed with their careers, they can’t stay out of his bed.

Can he protect his lovers from the vampires who hunt them, who want to use them to get possession of Momma Hallow’s ancient amulet? And will the Hallow Brothers stand united when they discover that Henry, the man Samuel loves, embodies an ancient evil magic, hell bent on conquering the world?

I absolutely fell in love with Samuel. He is so conflicted between who he is and how he believes everyone thinks or expects him to be. Samuel knows who he wants his mate to be but it just does not seem like the fates agree.

Samuel is a big bad alpha MMA fighter that is keeping a big secret from his family. HE is afraid of how they will react or what they will think of him if they find out about Henry. Sam goes to see Henry and finds Henry’s friend Delilah there. There is some major pull between Sam and Delilah be cannot control. Lets just say after the one night Sam, Henry and Delilah are together it all becomes clear why Sam and Henry were never mated. It’s because Sam has two mates not one.

Sam has to train for his fight but with Henry and Delilah trying to come to grips with the whole matting/warewolf thing it makes it hard to concentrate. Now Sam and his brothers have a new set of problems when vampires come into town to steal Momma Hallow amulet.

The twist this book takes had me needing more reading more. We see how Sam handles coming out to his family and the families reactions. We have so much more going on with the vampires showing up and all the havoc they create all for an amulet. Oh we get a peak at Josiah and his new mate. Eeep I cannot wait! The fates are knocking these guys out one by one. I love it and so excited to meet each of their mates.

Goodreads

I purchased this book.

Oh my land these MMA shifters are gaining my interest one by one. I still have not figured out out which one is my favorite but man they are all so amazing.

Micah is the second oldest of the seven, momma’s boy and a virgin. He is also the one that doesn’t fight  he has an 0-5 record, cannot see without his glasses and get debilitating migraines. He is also the guys manager. He decides to go with the guys to the club to set up some fights for his brothers when a pull like no other sets him in search  of something. He finds himself in a strip club where he sees the beautiful Eve. He scores a night with her only to find he is leaving the hotel with more tattoos than he came with.

Eve is a mess she is owned by her boss, he is a stripper and drug addict because of her boss. After her night with Micah she finds she has been tattooed one of the biggest NO NO’s by her boss and finds herself looking down the barrel of a gun. Lucky for Eva Micah comes looking for her and makes a deal to save her life by getting in the ring.

Things get crazy for a while between Micah’s blinding migraines, Eves drug addiction and Micah getting back in the ring. I love that Micah is patient with Eve but at the same time she needed to hear what Samuel and Meg had to say to her. Lets face it she was bound to have issues with the family. Especially one that is as close as they are. They want to protect Micah from the heartache that a stripper drug addict could bring Micah. Eve has never had a loving family but the Hallow’s are showing her what it really means to be a family. Eve just hopes Micah doesn’t leaver her like everyone else in her life has.

I’m becoming addicted to these Hallow boys. I cannot wait for Samuel it seems he has a big secret himself.

#WOTR19 #Review Ashes: Book One in the River Ash Pack by Mary Martel

Ashes: Book One in the River Ash Pack

Cordelia has never known anything but the safety of her fathers guarded compound where she’s lived her entire life. A life that, as the alphas daughter, has always been a privileged one, albeit an incredibly sheltered one.
Until one night, life as she knows it, is flipped entirely upside down when she’s promised to another alpha in order to buy safety for her father’s pack. This doesn’t exactly sit well for Cordelia seeing as she has different plans for her life, even if she doesn’t know what those plans are just yet. Out of fear of what she doesn’t want her life to become, she does the unthinkable and tells her father the one thing he’ll never tolerate from anyone in his pack, especially not his daughter. She tells him no.
As a result, Cordelia learns just what kind of depraved man and alpha her father is and is left a broken, bleeding mess because of it.
After finding kindness and compassion from two strange men who show up at the compound and help her when she is no longer capable of helping herself, Cordelia does the only thing she thinks she can do in order to survive and not be stuck in a world of abuse and misery.
She runs.
Unfortunately for Cordelia, she doesn’t make it very far before she finds herself in trouble again and at the mercy of another male with alpha tendencies. This alpha also comes with a brother by blood and one by choice.
The problem is, Cordelia’s not so sure she could ever find a place in a pack again after everything she’s survived. She won’t have long to figure it out though because, no matter the cost, her father is determined to find her and bring her home.

Warning – Due to certain sensitive sexual subject matter and abusive situations, this book may contain triggers for some people.
It’s also a Reverse Harem book.

Goodreads

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I had to take a few minutes to let this book really sink in. Some scenes were hard to read and had me fighting mad. Ok so let me start with WOW!!! The beginning of this book tore me up. Really how cold can a family be especially a father? What Cordelia had to endure should have broken her but she is one strong woman that can pick herself up and keep going. Everyone she thought loved her or at least cared about her let her down in a BIG way. Her saving grace was the two strangers who were alpha wolves who helped her when she was at her lowest. After all she endured how could she trust these strangers. After the last blow of having a door slammed in her face she was done and going to set out on her own. She would trust no one and rely only on herself. The alphas that found her Luca and Cal knew she was theirs and was so disappointed when the realized she was not going to meet up with them like she said.

OH MY GOD lets talk about Darius because I’m all about this tormented scared soul. He is Luca and Cal’s brothers and when he realized Cordelia was special to them he had stop her when he realized she was going to run. Well he put an end to that really quick and took her when she tried to run. Yep that’s one way to stop her. His plan was to take her back to his family home and have the brothers meet up with them. I fell in love with Darius really the like/hate between Darius and Cordelia was off the charts for sure. One of my favorites was in the gas station all I can say is I loved that cane wielding grandma.

Even though I love Darius there is something about Callum that interest me but I have not got a good feel for Luca yet.  All three have strong feelings for their Cordelia and would protect her with their life. Cal and Luca want time with Cordelia like Darius had but they know they need to have patients with Cordeli and give her the space she needs right now.

Everything Cal, Luca and Darius has done up to this point to protect themselves and Cordelia is going to catch up with them. Let me tell you it is going to get ugly and messy. I suppose we will see who will stand by the brothers and Cordelia and who will betray them because oh yes there will be some traders. Callum, Luca, Darius and Cordelia will need to be on the same page to withstand what is coming their way.

#Review #RH – First Comes Loves: A reverse Harem Romance (Matchmaker Book 3) by Jade C. Jamison

First Comes Loves: A Reverse Harem Romance (Matchmaker Book 3)

Can one woman possibly fall in love with more than one man at a time?

My name is Claire Seaburg and I’m an aspiring actress. You haven’t heard of me yet? Just wait. You will soon. You see, I’m in the third week of the new reality television show Matchmaker. It’s getting tough, because we’re down to three men—and I’m afraid I’m falling in love with them all. Will the man I end up with truly be the right one for me?

Or will I wind up in hell with the wrong guy?

Watch me as we get one week closer—and I do a few naughty things I just might regret…

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Well we find out who got cut and I’m floored I thought he would go to the final two. We also hand on to see if one of the guys may decide to stay or go home.

There are more dates with mini dates, although I kinda felt bad for our Claire. Poor thing hardly had time to eat while trying to field all the questions. Each man is showing different sides of them trying to win over Claire or maybe the audience since they are the deciding factor.

I have to say one guy stands out to me but every once in a while I find myself questioning him. However, there is another that is coming in as a strong second. If keep having doubts about guy one I may jump ship and go with guy 2.  I would love to be able to see what the audience sees in the confessionals and when Claire is not with the guys. Maybe it would make me understand the reason why they are voting the way they are. I’m ready to find out who will make it to the final two and ultimately who the audience will pick as her perfect match.

“Nobody puts Baby in a corner.” While you’re more likely to see Jade headbanging instead of Dirty Dancing, she—like Baby—won’t be put in a corner…or a box. So even though you can’t really stick her books in one genre, you could say she mostly writes steamy Contemporary Romance—and, while you’re at it, you’ll notice in her stories that Jade freaking loves Colorado, hard music, coffee, bad words, and CHOCOLATE!!! And so do her characters.

Oh, and there’s always a glimmer of hope…because if life doesn’t have that, what’s the damn point?

#WOTR19 – #Review – Welterweight (Hallow Brothers Series book 1) by Tricia Andersen

Welterweight

But the indescribable pull that draws her to the dark, dangerous Caleb Hallow tells her differently. Although she is furious when she finds the strange tattoo on her back after their night together, and even though he tells her some convoluted story about him being a werewolf, she can’t stay away from him. She can’t stop herself from falling for him. When her ex threatens Caleb’s life, how far will Meg go to save him? Will she be willing to sacrifice her life for his?

Goodreads

I purchased this book.

So my BFF a/k/a partner in crime has been after me to read this series. So I decided to take her advice and jumped in. What a great start to a series.

Meg has an on again off again jerk of a boyfriend that she sees cheating on her once again so her plan is to find a guy hook up for one night and boom!! they are even. Because that is always the right plan and works like a charm. LOL. When Caleb is in front of her she decides who better to make the boyfriend jealous by having a one night stand with her boyfriends rival Caleb.

Caleb is the middle brother out of 7 boys. He is an ass and does not open his heart to anyone. He is all for the one night stands no strings no attachments. Which is what he planned with Meg. However, the fates play a part in this. You see after the one night stand Meg wakes up with a large tattoo that sends her through the roof and on a mission to find the only one that could have put it there Caleb.

I absolutely love Meg,s personality she is feisty and does not back down even when she finds out Caleb’s secret and that she is Caleb’s MATE what ever that means. I have to say Caleb somehow found a way into my heart. He is full on alpha and an ass but he has his sweet moments. Meg and Caleb do not like each other and try so hard to fight the matting pull. Is it wrong that I enjoyed seeing there arguments and fights.  I have to say those never got old. These two are truly two peas in a pod they were truly made for each other.

There is something about all seven of these guys that has peaked my interest. I have to say I liked Caleb but there are six more so who knows who will be my favorite. I enjoyed most all of the characters even the two aunts. I’m so ready to start the next one.

#ReleaseDay – ALL WE WERE by Elisabeth Grace & Michelle Lynn

Will I ever stop hurting the one person who’s never hurt me?

I’ve done things I can never undo.

No matter how much I wish I could, sometimes the wounds I inflict are too deep, too catastrophic, too septic to heal.

As I look into the eyes of the only man I’ve ever loved I know I’ve gone too far. I’ve finally crossed the line.

Even if he knew my reason for doing this, he’d never forgive me.

He always puts my needs before his own.

Now it’s my turn to protect him.

None of that matters though because the betrayal and disgust in his eyes comes from deep within his soul. There’s no coming back from this.

He will forever be tormented by what he’s seen, and he will never forgive me.

The last fragment of my heart to hold out hope that we’d share a future, withers and dies.

Coming face-to-face with my past changes EVERYTHING.

I’m at the top of my game. All my struggles have finally paid off. Life should be great.

I mean, life is great.

Except for the fact that I can’t stop thinking of her. The woman who mangled my heart into a bloody pulp and never looked back.

If I could free myself of our shared memories, my future would be golden.

There’s only one way to move on—I have to confront the past, so I can move into the next chapter of my life in peace. Which means confronting her for the final time.

I had no idea that knocking on her door that day would turn my life upside down.

#Review – The Billionaire Shifter’s Virgin Mate – By: Diana Seere

32026165

McDermott “Derry” Stanton is an old-money playboy who sleeps his way through half the world, one willing woman at a time.

A bear shifter, he never hibernates alone. Sometimes even one woman isn’t enough.

But when this irresistible billionaire meets Jessica Murphy, everything changes. The man who views life as a female feast suddenly acquires more discerning tastes. The only woman who can satisfy him now…

Is Jessica Murphy. He must have her. Immediately. Frequently.

Jess, however, doesn’t want any man, least of all a spoiled playboy who’s about to become her brother-in-law. A pre-med student with deep ambitions and a past filled with painful rejection, she’s all business.

Too bad Derry Stanton is her business. A frequent customer at the Platinum Club where she waits tables, and now the best man to her maid of honor in her sister’s wedding, the guy is everywhere.

And pretty soon, she finds herself everywhere, too.

In his arms, on his bed, between the sheets….

But sex is the last thing she needs.

Or it was until she meets Derry and starts hearing the Beat. And feeling a connection she’d never imagined, never dreamed, never hoped for.

It’s all too unbearably good.

This was the first book that I have read of Diana Seere. It is the second book in the series but I was able to follow this book without reading the first. I did like a few of the characters and a dislike for others.

McDermott “Derry” Stanton is the playboy of the family. His family is kinda unique it consists of three brothers which is two wolves and a mountain lion, and a sister who is also a bear. None of his siblings think Derry will find his mate because bears never mate one person.

Jessica “Jess” Murphy has one thing on her mind school she has no time for anything else. To pay for her schooling she gets a job as a waitress at Platinum Club. She is set off balance when she runs into Derry in the elevator. Derry is her sisters soon to be brother-in-law.

I liked the connection Derry and Jess have but their family interfered a bit too much. Between Derry’s brothers and sister and Jess sister these two have a mountain to climb. I did have a few characters that I would like to know more about like Edward and Molly but not sure how I feel about Asher. Here is a bigger story with Asher but his attitude holds me back from learning more about him.

Diana Seere was raised by wolves in the forests outside Boston and San Francisco. The only time she spends in packs these days is at romance writing conventions. In truth, Diana is two New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors who decided to write shifter romance and have more fun. #WOTR19 #Review – Angel’s Collar by Anna Hague

Angel's Collar (Love Strictly Tested Book 1)

I have it all…until he shows me more.

I didn’t intentionally spill wine all over the most beautiful guy in the room, and one look at those icy-blue eyes brings on a major lapse in coherent speech. Jordan Caldera tells me his secret and wants me to join him. This is where my journey into submission begins.

So much about BDSM freaks me out, but at the same time, I can’t help but be intrigued. When I imagine Jordan doing those things to me, I can’t resist the adventure. Mind-blowing sex aside, my life is changing at an alarming rate and getting very complicated. Between balancing my career and my best friend’s concerns, the secrets I’m keeping are killing me.

What am I willing to risk for the new lifestyle I’ve embraced…and the man I love?

Goodreads

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

This is a new to me author. I liked the way the author set the scene for this book. We do not get the story while it is occurring but instead bits and pieces as Emma tells her story to a reporter.

Emma is a vanilla kind of girl and when she spills her wine on Jordan’s shirt her whole world is about to be rocked. Jordan introduces her to the world of BDSM. Jordan and Emma had things to over come mostly Emma’s fear to trust and to submit fully. Sometimes things work sometimes they don’t. Emma hits a low when she losses everything in her life her best friend walks away from her, she losses her job and she is trying to hold things together. When she reaches her breaking limit she could lose Jordan too.

I did like watching Emma and Jordan’s relationship grow and hearing it through Emma’s point of view. They had chemistry but like a lot of marriages things can change. The ending really has me wondering what will happen next in Emma’s life. One thing about this book was things changed in the blink of and eye. I am intrigued to know what will happen next.

For 25 years, I’ve worked as a sports writer. I decided now was the time to pursue romance fiction as an author. I found a great group of RWA author friends who have helped me tremendously.
I get great support from my husband, and although they don’t know it, my three parrots and dog give me a huge boost everyday.

What happens when old lovers reunite in the midst of tragedy? Is it finally a happily ever after, or will their dreams tear them apart once more?

*This novella is 23,000 words and was first published in May 2016 as part of the Honor Anthology.

Goodreads

This was my first Lacey Black book. I have to say I was not disappointed. It was a wonderfully written love story about Colbi and Aiden.

Colbi and Aiden were friends as kids that turned into more as they got older. They shared a lot of first. Although Colbi loved Aiden she decided to chase her dream and went to New York. Aiden wanted Colbi to be happy and would not stand in her way.  He let her go not realizing she would stay away so long.  Eight years Colbi didn’t return home but when her brother died she found herself in her home town and face to face with Aiden.

Being home for two weeks and being with Aiden him being there for her helping her get through her grief of loosing her brother. She questions her decision of moving to New York. She has to decide between her dream job and Aiden again. Question is does she chose Aiden this time or her dream job again? Like the last time Aiden will not beg her to stay but if she leaves he will not stop her but his heart will be shattered once again.

This was a sweet second chance love story. I liked both Colbi and Aiden. They seemed to fit together like the perfect puzzle piece. I have to say the nickname Aiden has for Colbi was unique and I loved it. This was a quick read if you want a sweet love story and have a few hours you would probably enjoy this too.

#Review – With Everything I Am (The Three Series) by Kristen Ashley

29054947

One night, Callum is driven into the woods by instinct, an instinct to protect. In the form of wolf, he meets a young human child who he is instantly drawn to in a fierce way he doesn’t quite understand.

Sonia Arlington has lived a lonely life. She has certain abilities that make her strange and she has a rare disease that, if untreated, could kill her. Her father makes her vow that she will never let others discover her abilities. This forces Sonia to stay distant, always guarding against exposure.

Intelligence leaks that Sonia is Callum’s human mate. He is now King of the Werewolves and has war on his hands. He’s forced to claim his mate and integrate Sonia into a world that is strange and frightening.

As Sonia attempts to adjust, Callum attempts to cope with the knowledge that his mate is mortal. He will have her beauty and gentleness only the length of a mortal life making their union unbearably bitter even as Sonia makes it unbelievably sweet.

Goodreads

Amazon

I picked up the audio book. I am on a shifter kick and was intrigued by this one. Plus I have read a few of Kristen Ashley books and thought if she can write shifters like she does the others I could not go wrong.  This is the second book in a three book series but can be read as a stand alone.

Sonia dreams of her wolf the one she saved when she was little. Sonia losses her parents and is taken in by a family friend.

Callum is waiting to court his mate but when she is in danger that plan is tossed out the window. He has to take Sonia however, since Sonia knows nothing about supernatural being he tries to keep this from her but in doing so Sonia is convinced he is the leader of a cult. A cult that has rules she does not know and doesn’t understand.

Once she is told about them being werewolves she begins to wonder if the heighten senses she has may not be so abnormal. Sonia has a disease that will take her from Callum. It is stated in the prophesies. Will Callum find a way to keep her? If he cannot what is he going to do if he losses Sonia?

I liked the chemistry between Callum and Sonia. I loved that Sonia tested and kept Callum on his toes. What I liked was most paranormal books are slow at first because they are setting their wold but Kristen Ashley jumped right in no real world building it was great and didn’t loss me. I was captured and wanted to know what was coming next OMG the twists had my stomach in knots and my heart racing. I have to say the narrator, Stella Bloom, for the audio book was great she kept me in the story and never pulled me out.
