#Review – It’s Me, Charlie by C.M. Guidroz

I know everything about her, I’ve been her “book bestie” for over a year now. I’ve read every book she has ever published. The books that tell me every fantasy she has, the books that tell me exactly what she wants. She doesn’t know who I am behind the screen, but I don’t’ think she will care much once I show her that I am the perfect man for her. Women have rejected me in the past, but I’ve studied Jessie so much there is no way I could get it wrong this time.

What happens when the person you thought was just an online friend turns out to be an obsessive monster. You never know who is truly behind the screen when you are engaging with people online. Especially, things like “bookstagram” where the community is so welcoming. What happens when your “book bestie” falls in love with you and will stop at nothing to show you just how deep that love is.

Charlie has been posing as a woman in the book community to gain the trust and friendship of the woman he has been obsessing over, Jessie. Jessie is a self-published author of smutty or erotic, books who is just trying to get her books out there in a massive genre. What Jessie doesn’t know is that her biggest fan has been waiting for the perfect time to meet her and make all of her fantasies come true.

Are you ready to meet Charlie?

Author Note: 18+ WARNING! This short story is considered EXTREME HORROR, there are GRAPHIC SITUATIONS! This book is disgusting, and you probably shouldn’t read it. But if you are still interested in meeting Charlie, please be aware that you were warned. YOU WERE WARNED.

Um…what the heck did I just read?

When Angie shared the link for this book with me, I checked it out and saw a throwing up emoji in a review and instantly one-clicked. I hadn’t even read the blurb at that point, so I went into this story completely blind and boy, am I glad I ever did.

This short story takes the book/movie “Misery” to a whole other level.

It’s depraved, sick and twisted.

Charlie is obsessed with an author and does everything he can to make her his. He “loves” her. Wants to spend the rest of his life with her and wants to show her that they are perfect for each other. When he captures her and brings her back to his place, a place they’re supposed to share together and in his mind, she’ll be happy about it, the…um…icky things start happening.

I have a strong stomach but when it comes to mucus and anything slimey…that’s a huge hard limit for me. Spit I can handle but…in this case…not so much. That’s all I’m going to say on that…

If you have triggers, please be warned: THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE BOOK.

As a romance author myself, it was easy to put myself in Jessie’s shoes and I think that’s what makes this book even more terrifying. Because you wonder, what if?

This story, although short, is quite the ride and leaves you wondering, what would you do?

#WOTR23 #Dark #revenge #Horror – Dolly by Measha Stone, narration by Michele Blackstone

He’s promised me sunlight.
Hope for a better future.
Freedom from this horror.
A life that doesn’t end in a dark cellar.

But, we’re trapped together.
Forced to live for the worst kind of people.
Desperate to survive for each other.

I crave his touch with every breath I take.
My heart aches for him.
He’s my hope for survival.
The man I want a future with.
I can have it all again, if only I trust him.
Even if that’s the only thing I can’t do.

Review by Twinsie Angie

Dolly by Measha Stone, narration by Michele Blackstone

I purchased the audio and paperback of this book.

I bought this paperback a year ago??  Like right when it came out.  I like dark books but I gotta work my way up to reading them.  I know I am weird.  ANYWAY!  I finally decided this was the time.    I saw the audio was available and since it was 5 hours that would only take me a day to read.

I want to start out by saying the narration was not my favorite.  I would have loved to have a female voice it AKA Dolly vs having a man AKA Ken Doll voice the story.  I also didn’t get drawn into the story with Michele voicing the characters and the story either.  I pushed through because I wanted the story. The story was where it was at.

Ok yall.  This book is a little slower to start but I wanna say PAY ATTENTION to the beginning 10-11 chapters because once we hit chapter 12-13, ITS GO TIME!!! I was there for it.  Dolly and Ken Doll are trapped and being abused by 2 horrible humans but why???  WELL, we soon discover why when they get free and go on their bloody revenge tour.  I was there for that as well.  The stuff we learn in each chapter had me saying YOOOOOO WHAT.  And also, a big GASP with “I did Not see that coming!!”  I mean I knew stuff would be flying outta closets but it got me good with the twists.

The story of Dolly/Abigail and Ken Doll/Brian was a good one.  The relationship between the 2 characters was sweet and loving one minute while total Bonnie and Clyde murders the next!!

Measha Stone is a USA Today bestselling romance author with a deep love for romantic stories, specifically those involving the darker side of romance, all the possessive dominant heroes, and their feisty heroines. If you love a well deserved happily ever after, you will enjoy her books.

#Review – Stella (Extended Cut) by Emery LeeAnn & L.X. Deveraux

I’ve been planning my revenge for almost a year now.

I was thoroughly abused.
I was beaten and left for dead.
They made me their victim.

The culprits thought I was weak, but now they will meet their maker.

Not one of them will be left alive, even if I have to forfeit my own life in the process.

*Part 1 of Stella was released in Scream Queens Charity Anthology – it will be included in this extended cut*

If you like revenge movies, read this book. If you liked “I Spit On Your Grave”, read this book. While of course this book is quite different than that movie, it definitely had the same raw, brutal, disturbing feel. And it was just as detailed too! If not more so, since this involves reading and using your own imagination.

The first version of Stella was released in an anthology that I myself was in as well. It was horror themed and packed with quite the punch! Then Emery added more to Stella and included a co-author as well. I remember messaging her when I finished the first version, wanting more!

This book is a continuation of Stella and how she gets revenge on the four guys who wronged her. And holy moly, does she ever get revenge! I think I read the whole thing with my eyes wide open! I do think one of the guys got off too easy if you ask me but she still got her revenge like she wanted. Pick up the book today to find out how!

I receive this book from the author for an honest review.

Holy Mother….I cant even begin to discuss this story with you until I say BE READY!!

This story is about 2 girls who find themselves in a bad situation.  They are kidnapped and will be sold over and over and over.  Seems like bad luck until their circumstance change.  Yo.  It’s a crazy game changer that happens!!

Seriously, I don’t even know what to say in this review because I don’t want to give any of the twists away but DAYUM I was kicked off my arse.  I knew JM WAS twisted and yet I had no clue she was THIS twisted!!

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

Well this anthology is definitely not for the faint of heart. While I was one of the contributing authors, I decided to read the rest of the stories and wow. Just wow. I gasped so many times, I lost count. I’m a huge fan of horror movies and I love horror stories just as much but these stories blew me away.

If you love horror stories, this is definitely the anthology for you! I even messaged Emery LeeAnn after finishing her story, Stella, and asked her for more. If you loved the movie, “I Spit On Your Grave”, you’ll like this little book.

These stories are gruesome and have people getting revenge in the most depraved way possible.

Enjoy and happy reading! Oh and don’t forget to turn on the lights.

#REVIEW – Death Blooms by Yolanda Olson

I deal in beautiful things.

I’m paid to create unique masterpieces and I enjoy my work.

I’m the best there is because I’m patient, kind, and quick.

I wear the mask of humanity when I need to, and I play the part of just another stranger walking past you on the street, but there’s something I want that I can’t quite seem to get my hands on.

For all of the blood I shed—for all of the flesh I’ve stripped, there’s only one touch that I long to feel. I may be a master of manipulation, yet when it comes to the hope of something that’s just mine—something unexplainable toward another living creature that I long so desperately for, I’m a coward.

But there’s only so many times I’ll be willing to stand by and watch what I want walk away from me before I acquire it.

I’ve had enough patience and I’ve scolded myself more than once over this and I refuse to wait any longer.

We belong together.

Twinsie Jo’s Review

While we usually review romance books on our page, I decided to read something new. I’m a huge fan of Stephen King and he’s usually the only horror author that I read. Or have read anyway. But I’m taking 2019 to read all new to me authors. Or try to at least.

So I didn’t read the blurb to this book but fell in love with the cover when Yolanda shared it forever ago. I’ve also had this book on my kindle for awhile now and finally got a chance to pick it up. And I’m glad I did!

So we meet Gray. Gray is an artist of sorts and he has a secret. His best friend, Aiden, knows about this secret and supports him fully. She even helps him with his final art pieces.

Gray has had a crush on Penn for awhile. Aiden finally helps him in that department and both Gray and Penn end up together. Woot!

All through the book, Gray is working on his latest art project. He ends up showing Penn this piece as well and he’s also super supportive of Gray’s work. He even wants to help him.

I don’t want to ruin it but the ending has an epic twist. Not what I was predicting exactly but definitely what I was expecting. I think if you’re a fan of horror movies, you would definitely like this book.
