kellys review

What a twist of fate! The author has taken vampires and werewolves and put a new spin on them. This is not your ordinary paranormal story we are all used to. The Cynn Cruors are a species that was made using the best attributes of vampires and werewolves. Finn is one of the Cynn and has lost his parents at a young age. He is working with others to try and stop this war with the Scatha Cruors. Many years pass by and he is on the hunt for the Scatha in the middle of the night. The Scatha have their sights set on Eirene who is walking through the park by herself in the middle of the night. Finn jumps in and saves her life. And here go the fireworks! They are pulled to each other with an intense connection. One that neither of them can deny. What they don’t know is they both have a connection with the Scatha that tried to kill her. With her extraordinary computer skills and Finn’s Vampire/Werewolf blood they go on the hunt.

The streetlights cast shadows everywhere, but Eirene wasn’t afraid. There was something about the dark which beckoned to her and soothed her soul. It didn’t frighten her. It was as if the night knew she felt at home in it and welcomed her without question.

The author has this story jam packed with action and plenty of hot scenes to keep you wanting more. Ms. Cate does a great job of giving you a backdrop that you can picture perfectly in your head as well as making sure the characters all work together. You will feel like you are right in the middle of the story. This is the first book by Ms. Cate that I have read and it will not be the last.

about the author

Isobelle Cate is a woman who wears different masks. Mother-writer, wife-professional, scholar-novelist. Currently living in Manchester, she has been drawn to the little known, the secret stories, about the people and the nations: the English, the Irish, the Scots, the Welsh, and those who are now part of these nations whatever their origins. Her vision and passion are fuelled by her interest and background in history and paradoxically, shaped by growing up in a clan steeped in lore, loyalty, and legend.

Isobelle is intrigued by forces that simmer beneath the surface of these cultures, the hidden passions, unsaid desires, and yearnings unfulfilled.
