From the national bestselling author of Busted and Razed comes an unforgettable story of a love that transcends tragedy…

As one of the Barnes brothers, Sebastien has always felt blessed. Not only does he have an amazing family, but he’s become a Hollywood golden boy who has everything he’s ever wanted—with one exception. He’s had a thing for Marin since he was a kid, but when he finally summons the courage to ask her out, she turns him down. Marin is ready to settle down, she wants commitment and stability, and Sebastien is still too much of a playboy, caught up in the wild life of the spotlight.

Still reeling from the rejection, Sebastien’s luck runs out later that night when he saves a girl from an assault. The shining knight role fits him just fine, but his armor—and his perfect life—become tarnished when the near-deadly attack lands him in the hospital. Physically scarred, he gives up acting and retreats from everybody.

If anyone can pull Sebastien back from the abyss, it’s Marin. But first she has to convince him that beauty is not only skin deep…

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

Ruined by Shiloh Walker
Marin & Sebastien
EH.. IT WAS OK
3 STARS

So, this is my first book by Shiloh Walker. It was a fairly vanilla kind of book. In fact I think if you take out a few choice swear words this could be classified as Young Adult. The characters are not YA, but the storyline seems to be.

Marin is an actress. She’s struggling to help out an old friend and fellow co-worker with a life altering event. It doesn’t help that she’s had the hot for him since they were young. She’s smart when needed and not so smart when definitely NOT needed. I struggled to connect with her as most of her dialogue made me wanna punch her in the face.

Sebastien is also an actor and has been tramatized by a horrific event. He’s shut himself off from the outside world and has booze as his only companion. Marin visits him a couple times a week, but doesn’t seem to get through to him at all.

The supporting character cast is pretty vast. Sebastien’s family and friends. Co-workers and Marin’s friends. I wouldn’t say they helped or hurt the story, but they weren’t anyone I would mention as more than an additional character in the story.

So, I guess it’s fair to say I didn’t love the story. I guess I liked it a bit. The storyline was ok, but nothing I could latch onto. The dialogue was ok, the pacing a little slow for me, and the writing style a little choppy.
