For April

Contemporary Novella – 2-book series. – For Ryan

Ryan Cole has two stiff middle fingers for those who say, ”You can rise above your past”…because, yeah…when has that ever happened?

Until it does…

After aiding an influential Senator, Ryan is thrust into a scenario that lays the foundation for his dreams of becoming a trail lawyer. All he has to do is befriend the Senator’s daughter—a woman with no friends, no social skills, who’s past traumas are even worse than his own…and on top of all that, she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.

As Ryan manipulates his way into April’s life, he discovers he’d do anything to release her from the cage she lives within.

But when he slips and April discovers her father’s plan—and Ryan’s part in it, he must face the consequences of his betrayal and a possible future without the woman he loves.

I received the book from the author for an honest review.

GAH!!  So I admit I am a fan of Jillian so I went into this not really knowing what the book was about…Lazy to not look up the blurb but I love her stories sooooooo I opened the book on a road trip.  I couldn’t put it down.  I kept asking “are we there yet?” not because I wanted to get out of the car but because I wanted to make sure I would get the book finished before we arrived at our destination!!!

I loved the concept of Ryan and Aril.  They both have dark stories and broken hearts.  They both look to lean on each other to heal their wounds.

Ryan is approached by April’s father to befriend his quirky and damaged daughter.  He needs to get her out of her darkness and maybe back to some semblance of “normal” by today’s society.  Ryan takes the job and thinks that because he has a “way” to charm the ladies it will be cake.  Little does he know that April will be the one woman who will not fall for his charms but fall for his heart.

April is a broken woman who is living with shame and guilt.  She doesn’t know how to shake the demons but when Ryan offers her a lifeline to enter a normal friendship, she takes it.  She is scared outta her mind and is confused as all get but she wants to be a good person.  She finally has the desire to BE A PERSON again.

The storyline of their friendship soon turns to love and then they must face some challenges.  He is going away to college but her family secrets finally come to light as well.  The two begin a downward spiral.  When I finished the book, I felt for April.  I understood everything she was saying.  I also felt for Ryan because I understood everything he was saying.  I can’t wait to open the next book because I need resolution to their story and a final HEA.
