Elissa Daye
When and Why did you start to write?
I started writing odds and ends when I was a child. I loved reading so much that I wanted to recreate the magic for myself. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I really attempted to finish a complete novel.
What authors do you always read or suggest to others?
I love J.K. Rowling. She’s an inspiration to me even though we write completely separate genres. Anne Rice and Christina Dodd are two more of my favorites.
What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?
It’s cathartic. Seriously, who needs therapy when you can work out some of your issues through your characters. Maybe that’s why I get so lost in their stories.
What are you working on now?
Almost Home a contemporary romance with a leading lady dealing with a traumatic past. It will be an emotional rollercoaster for sure.
When writing are you a pantser or plotter?
I do a little of each actually. Sometimes, I just want to fly by the seat of my pants and let the muse take over. Other times, I need to find ways to strengthen my plot. I do more plotting for my fantasy titles than my contemporary romances.
