#wotr #attendingauthor #partofaseries Rumor Going ‘Round (Lyrics and Love 3) by Samantha Lind

When rumors start circling,

Do you walk the other way?

Or give them something to talk about?

She was the one I always secretly wanted

But it was never meant to be,

I landed myself in the friend zone.

He was my high-school crush,

Who grew up into the single sexy dad,

Putting his life on the line with every fire he fought.

One spin around the dance floor has our friends talking,

Wondering if we could get any closer.

We blew the rumors off until one day, we really gave them something to talk about.

I bought this book and this is my honest opinion

Tucker was a single dad who was a local firefighter. His daughter’s mom and him had a great co parenting relationship. He was all for wanting a relationship but wasn’t sure when it would happen so he just focused on his daughter and job.  Lindsay was a busy ER nurse and was basically the one who got away in Tuckers eyes even though they never really had a thing but they knew each other their whole life and always had that crush.  When all of their friend are out at the local bar and Tucker takes Lindsay out on the dance floor and is holding her real close. That how those rumors started to go around but they weren’t going to let that stop them they were gonna give them something to talk about. But will there busy life’s get in the way of their happiness and will Tucker’s daughter like having to share her daddy with someone else. This was such a cute story i loved Tucker and his daughter Paisley is the best. I love when books have kids in them just adds that extra cuteness to them.

Samantha Lind is a contemporary romance author. Having spent the first 27 years of her life in Alaska, she now calls Iowa home where she lives with her husband and two sons. I received this book from the author for an honest review.

First up anytime, we have scenes with Rytsar and Sir my heart goes pitter patter…this book doesn’t disappoint in that department.

This book full of family.  We are visiting our family in Russian and Italy plus our family in the states.  Family is blood and those you choose to love unconditionally.

When we visit Rytsar and Faelan in Russia, we see more of the loss Faelan is feeling but also revel in the love with our favorite Russian.  Seeing our Wolf so lost was sad and heartbreaking followed by the love and cherishing done by Master and Rytsar was enjoyable.  But seeing Lilly was kinda weird and scary.  The fact she is still so unbalanced is scary.   Red, Ya got me worried here sis!!

Visiting our family in Italy and learning of the secrets of the past was so sad and made us readers want to snuggle with Nonno and Nonna even more.  However, seeing them embrace Thane and Brie’s kids was so heartwarming.  When we learn more about Alonzo and the scenes that followed were super sexy and yummy to this readers heart.

Our American family is struggling and dealing with heartbreak and fears of the future, but I loved what we see from Master Anderson.  I mean he is just the most fun side character in the series IMO.  Plus Lea!!  GAH!!  I can’t wait to see what happens next there.

As we are used to reading there is heart and love in every page along with some mystery and suspense with how the book ended.  I do have to wonder what will come of Mary.  I see glimpses of her and what she could be and hope that she gets an HEA she deserves to have at some point.

I received a copy of this book for an honest. review.

I was so excited to get a copy of this book, I always love seeing the adventures we go on with Brie.  Brie and Sir took us on one heck of an adventure.  They took us to Russia to see my favorite man Rytsar and then to Italy to see Nonna and Nonno.

We learn so many things about Sirs family and friends. I had so many emotions going on in this one. I loved seeing Rytsar, Nonna and Nonno seeing Brie and Sir’s son for the first time.  My heart went out to Faelan when he saw the baby.  Sir has to face so many hard memories and finding out secrets of his family.

I enjoyed seeing everyone.  We got a glimpse of so many and got small updates on each of them.  One thing is constant in these books the love Sir and Brie have for their friends and family.  No matter what they have to face they face it together as a family. I feel I need the next book the ending of this one has me on the edge of my see to see what is going to happen next.

#WOTR22 #attendingauthor #Spotlight – CJ Baty

C.J. Baty

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

CJ Baty
I’ve been writing for eight years and it was a dream I had as a young person. Unfortunately, I didn’t get started until I was in my 50’s. To date I have 20 published books and stories in several anthologies. I’ve lived in Southwest Ohio for most of my life, but my favorite place is anywhere there is mountains. I enjoy reading, playing games on my Kindle, sitting on my porch during the cooler months and spending time with my adult children. I’m also at the age where I am caring for my aged parents. No grandbabies yet but lots of wonderful fur babies and grand fur babies. Writing brings me a peace that I never knew existed. Sharing stories is one of the best things in life.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

I guess the first book would be the one with the most research and work. There’s a lot of room to watch characters grow and mature when you take them through a series.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

It depends on the series. The Pinkerton Man series allows me to move the characters to new locations and face new foes. The Ghost Train was fresh because each one took place in a new locale. Some series have new main characters in each book and that gets you invested in a new couple.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Gather others around you that you can talk things over with. Hash out a plot with someone. Other authors, your editor, and even readers can spark an idea that you spurs you to keep going.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

I’d like to say I write for six hours every day!!!! But life doesn’t always let that happen. I usually write between two and three hours when I get started and the words are flowing.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

I think that of all my characters Stiles Long from the Pinkerton Man series is my favorite. Over the course of four books (five stories), I’ve watched his character struggle with many things. He’s grown and been able to see that a future with his lover is a possibility. He didn’t believe that two men had a chance for that in the beginning. Unfortunately, the next two books in the series is going to see him really struggle and I’m excited to see how he handles the situations.

What is your definition of success?

I think we tend to base success on how many orange stars we collect, how many books we sell, or how much we made in any given month. I know that we all fall into the trap at times. The most successful I’ve ever felt was when I met a reader who was so excited to meet me, she cried. My words on paper moved someone to that. I’m just a person. But that is success, for someone to enjoy my stories.

#wotr #attendingauthor #shifters Lightweight (Hallow Brothers 7) by Tricia Andersen

Is this the end of the Hallow family?

The Hallows have been exiled from their home and the cell towers that sustained their income are burned to the ground. Their only hope rests on Caleb and Joshua who fly to Tokyo to plead for their contracts with LunaBit, the app company they work for. The night before their big meeting, Joshua is drawn to a blonde at a bar. After a night of amazing, sensual sex, he wakes up alone, bearing the mating mark of his ancestors, similar to the ones his six brothers already share with their mates.

When the brothers finally meet with Maya Johansson, LunaBit’s Vice President of the North American Division, Joshua discovers she is the woman who was his bed the night before. Maya holds secrets of her own, which includes being aware of what the tattoo she now bears means. She demands that Joshua returns to Los Angeles to negotiate the family’s contracts with LunaBit. Joshua agrees, willing to do anything to protect his loved ones in Minnesota. However, can he withstand a fabricated marriage, tension with an ex-boyfriend, and a new father-in-law that is pure evil incarnate? And can he save the Hallows home before they all fall to the vampires who want them dead?

Review by Twinsie Dee

I was given this book by the author for an honest review

Wow wow wow this book you might want to have a fan on when you are reading this one. Josh is the last single brother bound and determined that he don’t care if he finds his mate or not after dealing with all his brothers finding their mates. Well with the fate of the family business in the hands of their boss, Caleb and Josh find themselves in Japan for a huge meeting to try to save their jobs while fighting to save their homes and family from vampires who want them dead. At eh bar josh started feeling this odd urge he’s never felt before then walks in a beautiful woman no he’s at a lost for words he just knows he wants her naked in his bed, and that’s what happens. Little does he know that his new mate is the boss he’s about to have a meeting with to save the family’s contract and job. Maya does one thing work and don’t like to deal with feelings after her ex used her to try and get her VP job she has a hard time trusting men, while hiding a secret of her own. But when she spots Josh and wakes up with the mating tattoo she already knows what he is and what it means but she’s not willing to let it affect her job and what she needs to do. Will their new found relationship get in the way of business, and the vampires get what they want. Or in true Hallow fashion will the brothers over come everything against them with their mates at their side to take what is theirs. This book is hawt, hawt, hawt, and full of mystery  that will not disappoint at all.

#WOTR22 #attendingauthor #Spotlight – Miranda Shanklin

Miranda Shanklin

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Miranda Shanklin I live in Central Illinois with my husband, our two children, our 100 lab, two cats, our sons 10 month old lab and our daughter’s cat. I work full time during the day as a Paralegal at a very busy law firm. That job is very demanding and stressful. I love my job, but I also love I get to come into my home office (which hubby built for me and is everything I wanted) and escape into another world for the weekend.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

For me the first book in a series is the easiest one to write. I think it’s the last book in the series that’s the hardest to write. I had such a hard time with it I had a spin off trilogy already planned because it wasn’t coming together the way it needed to in order for that to be the end. Luckily, the last book in the Trilogy (which took me three times as long to write) was able to give me that completed feeling.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

Yep. My series is a serial series. It needs to be read in order. The spin off trilogy isn’t really as much but it’s better if it’s read in order. It’s also better if you read the series first because I always refer back to things that happened in prior books.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

I have cried many times while writing. All that means is I put all of myself into my writing. To me writing is personal. Don’t separate yourself from your writing. Immerse yourself in the story. Write a story you would want to read.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

I don’t typically write during the week. As I said my day job is demanding and stressful. I am usually drained by the time I get home. I want to make sure I am giving my characters my all. On the weekends it depends. I had some health issues that had to be dealt with and some anxiety issues and now that I’m back I make sure to get at least 5,000 a weekend but try for more. I currently have three fantasy series, a second chance romance, a contemporary fiction, and a dystopian I am working on so sometimes it’s just a matter of taking notes or writing a few scenes in my journal I carry around just for that purpose.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

I do, I love this character. I really wish I could tell you about her, but she is in a book that I’m still working on. She is one of the main characters in one of my fantasy series. I will tell you it is about dragon shifters!

If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?

That’s a hard one. I’m thinking it would be one three different ones. Of course, I can’t tell you about those either because I’m still working on those too ! I know authors can be so frustrating can’t they?

What is your definition of success?

Most people would answer this with some kind of money measurement. That just isn’t who I am. If one of my books helps someone through a tough time, then I am a success. Or if I inspire someone to reach for their dream, then I am a success. I have a job that pays the bills, I don’t do this for the money. I do this because I love it. When I was about ten years old my mom let me read Stephen King for the first time (I had been bugging her for about a year and she finally caved) and I was hooked. He is the reason I became a writer. I thought if I could help one person escape whatever is bothering them like he did for me, I couldn’t do anything better for someone. There is no greater honor in my opinion.

I read this book in 2020 and received an audio copy from the author in 2021

I love it when audio books are released a while after I have read a book.  I get to relive it all over again and I love the OH yeah I forgot about that moments. I enjoyed listening to Melissa Schwairy narration on this book.

Review posted from 2020:

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I had so many emotions going on inside while I was reading this book.  Talk about one heck of a rollercoaster ride. There was so much love and hate going through my heart throughout this book.  I love the boys but there was a time they needed to take a step back and trust what Ariel was doing.  They should know while she does put herself in danger it is usually done out of love and for them.  The boys tend to forget that as they feel they are the ones that need to protect Ariel.

I was so sad when some showed their true colors and I like Ariel do not thing I can come back from that nor will they ever be seen is a good light. Ariel went through some tough times and is able to get back up but this wow I’m not sure this will ever be something she can get over.  I’m afraid it will have some serious consequences but no one could have expected that.  Trust me when you read about it you will understand.  Ariel has a big heart and seeing what she saw will be hard to get past but I’m sure the guys will do their best to get her through it.

I have to say I so enjoy seeing Ariel’s bond with her men grow.  There were so many wonderful scenes between her and the guys.  Loved getting to see more of the twins, Damien and Jullian.  Even enjoyed seeing a bit more of Trenton and Simon their faithfulness to Ariel warms my heart.

I love seeing Ariel’s family grow.  What started as just her has grown into her coven, Rain, Trenton and Simon, Baxter, and Isobel. Her family just keeps on growing and I love this for her.  They also find an ally in Raven.  I’m on pins and needles waiting to see what big thing is going to happen with Ariel and her growing family.

Mary Martel was born in West Michigan and spent the majority of her life there. She currently resides in North Dakota with her husband, and her two beautiful daughters. She’s an avid reader, and when not writing she can be found with her nose stuck in a book.

Doc (Steel MC Montana Charter Book 10) by [Michel Prince, Wren McCabe, Leanore Elliot]

In book ten of the Steel MC Montana Charter: Thanks to video chats, Rebecca ‘Doc’ Olson has been helping the Steels process their traumas and heal. When death threats are more than a bluster from an angry patient, it is Rebecca’s time to seek out the care and protection of the Steels.

Over six years ago, Wendell ‘Chief’ Washington got pulled off active duty only to be devastated with news that cut him to the core, scarring him with a loss he believed he’d never recover from. Retiring from the Navy has him returning to a world with no anchor and just in time to attend the wedding of a dear friend in Turnabout Creek. What he didn’t expect to find was a woman who awoke the man inside him that died years ago.

Each of them running…Him from his past and her, from an eminent threat.

As each day passes, Doc is unpacking her life while danger circles around her. If it weren’t for the nights spent with Chief, she would be consumed and lost in despair. While Chief is teetering between a life renewed and losing it all if he fails again, to protect the woman who restarted his heart.

ARC Review by Twinsie Melinda

I received a copy of this book from Booksprout to leave an honest review.

I love this series and these guys are tough but so loving and protective when it comes to their ol’ ladies and family.  I will always “one click” this series, TBH even though I received an ARC I also preordered it and I will purchase the audio when it comes out.  I was not sure about this one before jumping into it only because I didn’t know the main characters very well.  They are not as prominent in the other books but side characters that are known by main characters.  Michel and Wrin did not disappoint this was just as good as the other books.

Doc has been best friends with Red for a long time and has been helping most of the Ol’ Ladies over video chat.  Doc is receiving death threats and need to get away while they figure out who it is.  So she decides that it is time she pays the residents of Turnabout Creek she has been treating a visit. While visiting she runs into another visitor, one she names Chief.

Wendell Washington has been in the Navy for 20 years and is retiring. After loosing his wife and son years ago he doesn’t quite know where he is going to put down roots.  He never had to think of this before because he has always been on a ship with others giving orders.  He makes the decision to go to his friend Annie’s wedding in Turnabout Creek.  He is still haunted by the loss of his wife and son and has to work through a lot of issues while here.

Chief has PTSD when it comes to dealing with the loss of his wife and son but Doc is able to help him with this. Chief and Doc have amazing chemistry from the start but can Chief overcome the thought of being able to protect Doc unlike he was able to with his family. I thought their banter and jabs regarding the others choice of military branch they served in was great.  I enjoyed seeing Chief open up and learn to trust the Steels.

I enjoyed seeing all the Steel men and their Ol’ Ladies. I love when the men jump in and protect whoever needs protecting and will deal with anyone who stands in their way of doing this.  This one had my emotions breaks my heart when emergency’s come up and no matter what Red and his team does, they cannot change the outcome but they do deal with the reason why the emergency came up. I just want to say I loved seeing Hack in this one, I love him so much. We did get to see all the Steels and their family and it was nice to see them all again.  I also liked that we learned a little more about Red. It is always a good day when I get to read about the Steels and their families. Now I have to wait for this one to come out in audio so I can listen to all over again.

#WOTR22 #attendingauthor #spotlight – Liz Flaherty

Liz Flaherty

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Liz Flaherty – I live in north central Indiana and I write sweet contemporary romance with leanings toward seasoned romance and women’s fiction. I’ve also written a column called Window Over the Sink for over 30 years.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

The ones after it are harder because I have a difficult time with two things. (1) Keeping things straight, no matter how much attention I’ve paid to detail. (2) Maintaining excitement. At the end of the day, I’d rather write stand-alone than series.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I try to make the stories and the protagonists as different as I can, but I’m not sure I accomplish it.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Use it. Emotional writing is often the best. Who wants to read about a life that’s not messy?

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

I come to the office first thing in the morning and stay here until about noon, then occasionally a couple of hours later in the day. How much of that time is spent writing and how much is spent staring at the wall is…well, it’s the process.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

Grace, from ONE MORE SUMMER, is probably my favorite. She had every reason in the world not to be loving and giving, but it didn’t stop her from doing both–even though the love was sometimes of the tough variety! She wasn’t beautiful or extraordinary in any way except the size of her heart.

If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?

HOME TO SINGING TREES is a historical based right here where I live. I’ve always thought it would be a good film. As to who would star in it, I don’t watch enough movies to pick anyone! At the time I wrote it, I think I had Jeff Daniels and Anne Hathaway.

What is your definition of success?

Being happy.

This series is an auto buy for me.  I may have gotten an ARC but I had my preorder already ready for release day.  If you are a fan of alpha men that melt for their women, this is a series for you!  But stay away from my man Baldy!  Got it!!!  Good.  Ok now let’s talk about this book.  I really didn’t know these characters as they were both side characters.  Doc has been around the MC fringes for a few book as she helps the Steels and their women with mental health.  Chief, however, is essentially a new character.  When we learn he knows Annie…I was like “Who is Annie????  Oh crap!!  Its CREAM!!!”  Yeah, I don’t know the real names but road names anymore!!  LOL

Ok so Doc is old buddies with Red.  They were like besties in medical school with huge amounts of resect for the other in their fields.  Red is who got Doc to help his MC with mental health needs.  When Doc is being stalked by an unknown killer, she runs to the MC for a wedding of one of her patients.

Chief …I kinda don’t want to ruin who he is because the story of how he knows Annie was pretty sweet.  But let’s just say he and Annie go WAY back. He comes to see his friend get married to some young punk plus meet her little man, Liam.  Annie and Chief catching up was hard at times given the history but also pretty special as he is embraced by Bounty.

Chief and Doc run into each other at the Roadside but don’t really get to talk until they are both at Maggie’s for breakfast the following morning.  The attraction on both sides is spectacular.  Chief is dealing with his past and Doc is worried about even having a future.

Chief deals with his past and once he realized Doc is someone he won’t let go of.  Doc’s stalker soon comes around putting Red and the guys on high alert.  Doc is so scared of losing Chief she is the one who pretty much claims him and names him.  (We all know once you been claimed you are no longer on the market.  LOL )

But I really enjoyed seeing Red a little more one on one.  We see him a lot in the books as he is the president but seeing him with Harlow…melts my heart.  Also seeing him with his friend to talk medical things over with since he can’t lean on my baby daddy, Baldy, for that was pretty good to see.  Learning more and more about him made my heart happy.

I absolutely LOVED this book and meeting some new prospects.  I also love what we learn about a few of the couples.  This family is growing more and more.
