It seemed a little odd to Ezekiel that there were only a handful of people in the place but then again, he didn’t know just how far off the map he’d wandered. He sauntered to the bar and plopped down on a stool. Ordering a beer from the bartender he glanced around. A chill ran up his spine. Every set of eyes in the bar were focused on him. A couple guys grinned at him like he was prey.

It was then that he caught sight of something sharp and pearly white in the glow of the neon.

A pair of fangs. Fuck.

“What is it with you guys and bars, huh? I always pictured that you would be more wine and cheese snobs than canned beer and pretzels,” he questioned.

The two playing pool chuckled as they set their pool sticks down on the felt covered surface and prowled towards him. The one on the left, with black rumpled hair, untucked dress shirt, and wrinkled dress slacks smirked at him. “We guys? You act as if you know us?”

Ezekiel rose to his feet, nudging his beer aside. He scanned for exits other than glass doors. There were none. This place had to violate at least a dozen fire codes. Did they have fire codes in the backwoods? “I know your kind. You have distant cousins in Minnesota that are making my family’s life a living hell right now.”

The vampires frowned and the one dressed like he had left his soul at the office gave a hardy sniff to the stale air of the bar. He shrugged. “You wouldn’t be the first werewolf I’ve drained dry. Your blood tastes like shit, though.”

“Great to know.”

Before Ezekiel could drop into stance to defend himself, the bell on the door tinkled a greeting. The entire room turned to see who had walked in. He cursed under his breath. His odds weren’t great as it was and now, he had to defend someone?

Except there was no one there but a small puddle on the floor left by the storm outside. A second later two of the vampires closest to the door dropped to their knees, writhing in pain.

That was when Ezekiel saw her. Jet black hair flowed down past her ivory face and down her back. Eyes so dark they could have been mistaken as violet glanced at him. Her whole body, garbed in black, stiffened at the sight of him.

It was the woman in his dreams, the one that had made him jack off so many times before he hit the road on this trip. His cock stiffened at the sight of her. It was a really bad time for a hard-on.

“Take cover,” she demanded.

Ezekiel smiled at her, reassuringly. “I’ve got this, sweetheart.”

She glowered at him as her fist flew out, dropping another vampire to the ground. “I’m sorry. Did you just call me sweetheart?”

He bit back a groan as the two pool playing vampires charged him. For a moment, he thought the distraction was going to fuck up his fighting style. As one body thudded on top of the other, he let out a sigh of relief.

“Do you not like being called sweetheart?” he countered.

Her hand dropped to her thigh to produce a wicked looking knife. She pointed it at him. “I am not your sweetheart. Call me that again and it’ll be the last word you ever mutter.”

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Best friends since they were 13, Violet and Miller both secretly feel more for each other but they refuse to acknowledge it themselves, let alone tell anyone about it. Their high school days consist of a whole lot of missed opportunities. The question is– will they come to their senses before its too late?

This book was FULL of angst- which I love. The H & h were both very lovable characters. They also had an amazing cast of friends which I also loved and I really hope since this is book 1 in a series that they will all get a chance to tell their stories also. I can’t wait for the next book to see what its about.

#WomensFiction #MultiplePOVs #HaveTheTissuesHandy —Perfect Seas by: Jennifer Sivec

Four women who have struggled to accept their imperfections search for a happiness they can’t believe they deserve.

Chloe’s life was perfect until she found a questionable photo on her husband’s phone and then received news that shocked her entire world.

Abi, Chloe’s sister, is a newly single mom who’s been pretending that life away from Grey’s Harbor is ideal instead of admitting that she’s been running away. She knows that once she returns home, she’ll never leave again and may lose every chance at independence.

Neena’s finishing college, but her troubled family life threatens to throw her off track time and again. When the unexpected happens it changes everything she’s ever known.

At first glance, Gina has the perfect life, husband, and children, but the person she presents to others doesn’t reflect who she is on the inside. A horrific childhood haunts her as she desperately runs from a past that refuses to let her go.

Two of these women will find love, one will learn to accept a life she never thought she could, and one will die as each of them search for perfection, in Grey’s Harbor.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received a copy of the book from the author. This is my honest review.

Perfect Seas tells the stories of Chloe, Neena, Gina, and Abi. 4 women; 2 sisters, 2 best friends, and 1 connected to the other 3 by chance. They are all from the oceanside town of Grey’s Harbor. They all have their own story to tell. Each story intertwines with the others. The stories all have some bad times and some good times. Unfortunately some of them are worse than the others.

I liked how the book was from multiple POV’s. It was written in a way that the reader knows who is talking without backtracking. I really appreciated the flow from one person to the next. Make sure you have the tissues handy. These women have all had their struggles and their stories really pulled at my heart strings.
I laughed with them.
I cried with them.
And just hoped that everything would be okay in the end.

Jennifer Sivec writes beautifully broken stories with heart.

She is attracted to and writes stories with characters that are complicated, flawed and completely imperfect. Her books are often a reflection of life, encompassing difficult subjects such as cancer, addiction, abandonment, and abuse. She writes with a raw, complex, yet hopeful approach often weaving tragic stories with honesty and grace, creating unforgettable characters.

Jennifer has been writing since she was in the fourth grade but didn’t publish her first novel until 2014, and has been writing non-stop since. Her passion for reading and sharing stories gives her perspective and peace of mind.

She lives in Ohio with her husband, two boys, and two dogs who create balance and levity for her. She loves her crazy life and wonderful readers, and is grateful for all of it, every day.

#Review #2ndChance #FriendsToLovers – Until You Fall in Love by Lyssa Layne

Until You Fall In Love

Single mom Jordan Glastetter doesn’t know how she’d survive without her best friend, Abram Tomko. He’s the father her son never knew and he’s the rock she’s always leaned on. When Abram’s father suffers a heart attack, it’s Abram’s turn to depend on Jordan, finally seeing her as the woman she’s become and not the little girl he grew up with. Will they risk their friendship for a chance at love?

The PreQual is Roses with Thorn HERE

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Oh man where do I begin!!??  Lyssa, sister!!  Abram was such a hot mess in Robbie and Jordan’s book I was really wondering how you could fix him but fix him you sure did!

Jordan and Abram have known each other all their lives.  Jordan falls in love and married Robbie who is Abram’s bestie/wing man.  As soon as their life picks up and moves forward, Robbie is killed in the military.  This story picks p 5 years after his death.  Their story is the prequal to this story.

Jordan is a dedicated mom, rancher, friend and is slowly freaking out that the feelings she has for her best friend, Abram, are slipping into the “more than friends” category.

Abram has watched Jordan every day her entire life but when situations change, and he comes back after helping his sister, his eyes open to the woman she has become. He soon realizes he can’t live with out her in his life. PERIOD.

The couple are essentially raising her son as THEIR son. They are starting to realize there is a lot more going on then just best friends…which everyone else sees but they are both to dumb to see until their world is shook when Pop, Abram’s Father, has a heart attack.  The thought of losing his pushes them both into re-evaluating things.

Now of course love can’t come easy with the two for them.  They are dealing with her fears of finally moving on past her dead husband of 5 years.  They are dealing with other people being interested in the pair plus the fear of what if this doesn’t work.  There were times I wanted to smack Jordan upside the head and shake her senseless for thinking less of Abram’s feelings for her.  Then toward the end of the story I was gonna nut check Abram for being such a jackass over something that happened with Jordan…sigh…but mainly I loved the journey these two take!!

#WOTR20 #NewRelease #2ndChance – Mine for Now by Cindy Tanner

Mine for Now by [Cindy Tanner]

Ran Walker can’t outrun his demons. After watching the woman he loved marry another man, he’s given up on finding that happiness for himself. Until a chance encounter with a fiery redhead challenges everything he thought he knew…

Elle Sullivan is done bending to the expectations of others. Now, she’s determined to live life by her own terms. Even if that means taking a chance on the burly biker that helped her fix a flat tire. He’s the exact opposite of any man she’s ever dated—yet the heat between them is undeniable.

Can Ran and Elle shrug off the shackles of his haunting past and her constricting family name to find the freedom of a blissful life together? Or will the ill-fitting facades of who they are supposed to be force them apart?

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Friends!!  Ran has been on my mind since I read When you Where Mine back last fall.  I mean this dude is a hot mess of loyalty and family but also heartbreak and feeling less then.

You don’t need to read the previously mentioned book BUT to know Ran and his heart, I highly suggest it. When Elle comes and knocks him on his big burly ass, you will appreciate it all the more.

Ran has only loved Harper and after the heartbreak of losing her to Ash, he has given up on finding anyone.  He knows he is a felon and who wants to marry or be with a guy like that?  He is gruff and rough around the edges plus he is totally pushing away all his friend.  But he is definitely the one guy you can trust to keep a woman safe.

Elle is over it all.  After walking away from her fiancée and starting life over in this small town, she too is over dating. When an accidental tasing of Ran leads Elle to wonder about the hot stranger, they both think they will never see the other.

When Elle comes barreling into his life by helping and befriending his sister Nona, who also is a hot mess and I am dying to know her story with Ben, the two start a “friends with benefits” relationship.  Each is afraid of the day the other will call it quits but is secretly falling head over heels with the other.

When miscommunication and self-doubt cause the two to separate, I was ready to nut punch Ran.  I was glad to see Harper come and knock some sense into him with the help of Ash.  These two are a perfect fit and they need to open their eyes and stop worrying about the fears in their heart.

I am such a huge fan of these characters.  I admin the previous book was one of my favorite last year so this book was a very anticipated book by me.  I can saw 110% this book did not let me down.  I loved getting to know Ran and all his “faults” even more.  But I really loved the sassy and fiery red head named Elle who helped him overcome his fear of being less then.  But yo, I really freaking loved Gigi!!!!

Growing up an only child in rural Indiana Cindy grew to rely on her imagination for entertainment. Starting at a young age she would read books to her animals and started telling her stories to anyone that would listen. Over the years her love of reading and telling stories grew into a career of her dreams. She likes to tell sincere stories with unexpected twists.

#NewRelease #PreQual – Roses with Thorns by Lyssa Layne

Roses with Thorns

Jordan Crecelius was always a ranch girl at heart but she and her best friend, Mia Tomko, enjoyed watching Mia’s brother play baseball, too. In between horses and high school, the best friends always made time to catch a game or two. Robby Glastetter was a city boy with a baseball addiction. The sport was paying his way through university as he studied to be a day trader once he graduated… that was until Jordan Crecelius walked into his life. It only took one hello for Robby and Jordan to know that they were meant for each other. The two were destined for one another, soulmates meant to never be separated but with a six-year age gap, their love story didn’t begin at hello. Robby patiently waited for Jordan, trading in trains for horses just for the opportunity to get to know her better. Once she turned eighteen, their love story was on the fast track and the two became adults together on the freight train of love as life began to unfold.

Wanna know what happens when this book ends???

Roses with Thorns by Lyssa Layne
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
GAH! When Lyssa offered to let me read this book I was excited because I always love her men…they are extra lickable. I admit I wondered how she was going to tell a love story of a 14 year-old and a 20 year-old but she did it well.
Jordan and Robby meet when she is visiting her brother from another mother during his first college baseball game. The dynamic of the two was sweet and innocent. Robby thought she was sweet and going to be an amazing girl when she got older.
Jumping forward a couple of years we see Robby NOTICING the young woman Jor has become but also knowing it is inappropriate to do anything given her age. But everything changes in the blink of an eye when Abram is hurt. Robby and Jor spend the summer together where love starts to blossom.
As the story jumps for ward in time, we see them falling more and more in love but also realizing they have a lot to accomplish to be together. They always work toward building a life together and having the HEA everyone wants. If you know this is a prequal to a story you KNOW what happens to our couple and their happiness. If NOT, then I won’t spill any of the beans so you read it and then run to down load Until You Fall to get the ending of this story.

#WOTR #AttendingAuthor #PartofaSeries Just One Taste (Oh Tequila Series Book 2) by CA Harms

I’m the jokester, the one who pulls the best pranks. I’m the guy the frat brothers avoid for fear of what they’ll wake up to face the next day.

But now, the joke’s on me. Literally on me! In BIG. BOLD. BLACK LETTERS!

A tattoo…of another guy’s name. I was branded, and no one else can know.

The problem is I don’t know how it got there. Who the hell is Blake? Worst of all, why the f*ck did I have a guy’s name tattooed on my wrist to begin with? What could have possessed me?

I’ve done a lot of things, tortured a lot of my brothers, and I’ve loved every single minute of it.

I guess it’s payback.

The only things I remember are…dark hair, smelling of sweet honey, and maybe something floral, soft hands, and the sweetest laugh.

So tell me, how can I get from a memory like that to waking up in the back yard beside the pool, with a f*ucking tattoo? Of a dude’s name?

Oh, Tequila, what have you done now?

I bought this book and this is my honest opinion

Red has finally met his match, after setting his eyes on the pretty waitress at the local pizza joint he didn’t know her name just knew hat she was friends with his frat brothers girl Morgan. Cat was a normal girl didn’t go out much worked as much as she could and went to school, she had a rough life at home her mother was a drunk and her step dad took all that she earned from her paycheck to buy drugs and booze, she saved what she could without him knowing so at some point she could move out on her own. After getting her to go to the frat party Red knew he wasn’t going to let her get away from him, he had her sass to deal with and she wasn’t going to let him get her that easily but she knew that she was putty in his giant hands. May the pest prank win and who’s team are you really on. Red will do anything to make Cat smile and protect her from anything that would hurt her. I freaking love Red he is just a big ol teddy bear who would do anything to make his girl smile, and Cat you want on your side for the next prank to go down. These characters are making wish i had this when i was in college i love them all so much

C.A. Harms is an avid romance and mystery reader. She’s always had a love for books, getting lost in writing and storytelling even as a young girl. She enjoys happy endings and HEA love stories.

She lives in Illinois and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She holds an addiction for Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha’s and KitKat when she should really be focusing on water and maybe a fruit or two to make herself feel less guilty, but that feeling quickly passes…thankfully.

She is easy going, fun, and although she may seem like one of the quiet ones at first, you just wait until she gets to know you better…that quietness changes, fast
