Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Hi, I’m Heather Long. I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.

I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.

How many years have you attended?

This will be my first! I am so excited!

Contemporary Romance, Paranormal, Romantasy, Reverse Harem, Military, and Dark Romance

I am a fount of random (sometimes useless) trivia. I just love collecting facts.

Nicole Craig – I’ve been writing since 2020, but did not get published until 2024 due to working full-time as a teacher. Now I’m retired and loving that I can sit behind my computer all day to make stories happen. I’m married for 28 years to The One, and we adopt geriatric and special needs cats. I’m a bowler, I do community theatre, I’m a huge Milwaukee Brewers fan, and, of course, I love to read!

How did you hear about this event?

Anna Blakely talked about the event in 2023, and in 2024 I attended as a reader.

Protector Romance / Romantic Suspense

What is a book of yours you wish more people read?

“Good Enough” is my debut novel, and it’s a first in series for The Deadman’s Tribe.

What is one fun fact about you?

I was peed on by a rhinoceros. I fell in the dolphin tank at SeaWorld. I was bitten by a monkey in Honduras. Take your pick. I should not be allowed around animals.

Lila Fox

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.


My name is Lila Fox. I started writing books several years ago. I’m still shocked people want me to write more. LOL, I live in a farmhouse in the country with the nearest neighbor, who is 1/2 mile away. It’s my own piece of heaven.
I have grown children and a husband who puts up with my late nights. I plan on continuing to write as long as I can or as long as people enjoy the stories. I do better writing without TV or music. Maybe it has to do with my ADHD.
Some hobbies I have are horseback riding, gardening, hiking, scrapbooking, and, of course, reading as many books as I can.
Being with my family and animals makes me the happiest, but writing makes me pleased in another way.
At the moment, I am writing several books at the same time. I go back and forth when I get stuck on one. I’m not sure how I don’t get confused.

A friend, Nikki Leigh, got me involved and I’m glad she did.

2024 was my first year.

Gosh, that’s hard. I have published 80 books so far and I can’t pick just one.

My name is Tricia Andersen. I am a romance writer with a whole lot of genres. I am from Iowa where I live with my husband, my kids and my dog, Kinnick. I love to write, sew, quilt, spend time with my family and advocate for girls and women’s wrestling.

I am a multiple year participating author and am super excited to see everyone at Writers On the River Year 10!

How many years have you attended?

2025 will be my 7th year at Writers on the River.

I write Contemporary Romance, Paranormal Romance, Greek God/Paranormal Romance, Historical Romance, Fighter Romance, Fantasy Romance, Friends to Lovers Romance, Historical Non-Fiction and Sci-Fi. I also have children’s picture books under my pen name, Lynette Andersen

I love Thistle Tattoo. The relationship between the main characters is amazing and the story pulls you in. It’s a friends-to-lovers, slightly military, small town romance.

What is one fun fact about you?

I used to kickbox and I have a third place medal in jiu jitsu. I was a member of an MMA gym for nearly 10 years. Oh, and I am gluten sensitive.

Hi! I’m A.D. Ellis. I’m an Indiana girl, born and raised, but don’t hold that against me 🙂 I’m a mom of a 19yo and almost 17yo, and I’m in my 26th year of teaching in the inner city of Indianapolis. I started publishing romance way back in 2014, and in 2015/16 I moved to publishing M/M romance and never looked back. I write addictive, sexy, emotional M/M stories that will keep you coming back for more. When I’m not at school or writing, I enjoy reading, naps, and sipping sweet wine with friends. I also enjoy crocheting, collecting notebooks I may never use, and practicing up on my sarcasm.

I remember back when Jillian Jacobs had her idea for it 🙂

I’ve been lucky enough to be there since the very beginning.

I write romance with the majority of my titles being M/M romance.

I think everyone should get into the Christmas spirit with Once Upon a Christmas House. It’s like a steamy, gay/bisexual Hallmark movie, plus it’s on audio! AND the second book is coming out in 2024. Depending on when this interview is published, you MAY be the first to hear the title…book 2 is called A Touch of Christmas Magic.

What is one fun fact about you?

I broke my arm three times- falling off the monkey bars, falling off a horse, and hitting my brother.

I’m Lacey Black, author of contemporary romance with heat, humor, and a happily ever after. I live in central Illinois with my husband, two kids, and a small brood of animals.

How did you hear about this event?

Honestly, I don’t remember. Facebook, I’m sure. I was a new author and found a new signing right in my backyard. I think the first WOTR was my second-ever signing and I’ve been to every one since.

What is a book of yours you wish more people read?

Grip. It was part of K Bromberg’s Driven World, and I think because it’s in a world, readers feel they have to read all of the books in the world, which you don’t.

What is one fun fact about you?

I have been co-writing with Kaylee Ryan for 5 of the 10 years I’ve been writing, and we’ve never met face to face. We talk ok the phone all day, every day and have FaceTimed, but we’ve never actually hugged.

Paula Dombrowiak, I grew up in Illinois in a small town called Evanston on the north boder of Chicago but I now live in Arizona have been here over twenty years. I have three cats (not by choice but then again does anyone?) and one dog. My wardrobe consists of leggings and band t-shirts that are perpetually covered in pet hair.

How did you hear about this event?

I saw the event on Facebook and donated some VIP swag for last year. I’m so excited to be a signing author this year.

How many years have you attended?

I have never attended. This is my first year.

What genres do you write?

Contemporary Romance

What is a book of yours you wish more people read?

Bonds we Break. It’s book 3 in my rockstar series and it cna’t be read as a standalone since it’s told from the perspective of a character that didn’t have a voice in the first book. I love Mia’s character so much and this was my favorite book to write. I think a lot of readers are scared to read it because if they read the first book then they know how her story ends. It’s just so heartbreakingly beautiful. I love my broken and flawed rockstars.

What is one fun fact about you?

A fun fact about me is that on top of being a writer I also paint landscapes on canvas. It’s sort of a hidden talent that I love to do for fun and have made paintings for friends and family. I’m out of practice since I’ve been writing though.
