Review by Twinsie Kelly

The truth always wins in the end! While everything worked out and Jagger is released for the crime he didn’t commit, Dallas is missing! WHAT?!

Ok, so, I have to back this up a bit. I said this in the last review too, but I have a love/hate relationship with this series because some of what is happening because it doesn’t seem quite realistic or by the book legally.

**SPOILER ALERT**

Dallas is disabled and is in foster care but has been taken illegally across state lines. Jagger technically has custody of him and is freaking out. He and Rose take off to go after Dallas and his kidnapper. But so much of this seems off. And they end up going to house where Dallas is being kept. Jagger gets shot but the locals aren’t really doing anything. Personally, this seems like a lot of BS. BUT there is plenty of time for extremely hot sex for Rose and Jagger. And all of a sudden, the FBI steps in and BAM! Dallas is saved and everything is A OK.

**END OF SPOILER ALERT**

There are a lot of things with the investigation that were just not realistic which didn’t really sit well with me. It was a very heartwarming homecoming, but it just wasn’t quite enough to make the story great. This was more of a 3.5 for me.

#WOTR25 #Review – Reclaim: Project Xol (Book 5) by Audrey Kaye/Amabel Daniels

Reunited with one of the Project’s original researchers held captive at a cartel compound, Cassidy is tasked with delivering answers about a so-called miracle drug. She struggles with the fear of being separated from Luke, anticipating he’ll be harmed unless she cooperates. The details the cartel wants aren’t forthcoming, and instead, she’s instructed to find another Project colleague in another city. Luke doesn’t sit still once he’s parted from Cassidy. The danger in this jungle is unlike any peril he faced in prison or on the streets, but using his head—and ignoring the ache in his heart at losing what he’s sure is love—he plans an escape.

Once they’re on their way, however, he still lacks the chance to tell Cassidy how much she means to him. They leave behind death and horror to find a scientist in the city. Wrought with doubt and confronted with hostility, they realize they have the key pieces to ending Project Xol. Faced with the responsibility of destroying the resources that could save many lives, decisions are harder to make. And when it becomes clear Cassidy is expected to be reunited with her family, the stakes are higher than ever.

Reclaim is the fifth book in the Project Xol series, which continues in Given.

And here we go again! Within the clutches of the cartel trying to get to the bottom of Project Xol and exactly what Cassidy’s purpose is, is becoming more and more difficult. Hendrick and Cassidy are reunited but Hendrick is in a bad way. He is able to answer some questions but some of his answers just bring up even more questions (I hate it when that happens!). Escaping was going to be difficult enough but saving anyone on the way is a suicide mission. Turns out luck was still hanging around for this hellish ride for Cassidy and Luke. As Tramer continues to come along for the craziness, everyone gets split up, chaos ensues and no one is who you think they are. This story will literally keep you on your toes. There are twists that you have no idea are coming, then BAM! The next cliffhanger!!!! Come along with me to the next book, Given, for the final ride!

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

When this book landed on my kindle, I could not set it down.  I fell in love with Gage, Amelia, and their families.

Amelia is trying to balance everything in her life from taking care of her daughter, dealing with an ex-husband that forgets he is ex, school events, and work. She puts on the I got everything under control persona until it starts to crack.  Amelia’s Daughter best friend is the daughter of the billionaire Gage who is a alpha of all alpha’s and Amelia has caught his attention.

The things Gage does for Amelia is amazing but the situations Amelia gets herself in and the fact that she shares on her group chat with her brothers is hilarious. Amelia has so much on her plate and Gage just keeps adding things to her to do list. I have to say he doesn’t just volunteer her but he does pull his weight to help her out. I love how Gage is in tune with those around him knows what they need and does everything he can do to help them. I love how he listens to Amelia and gives her what she wants. I loved watching the interaction between Gage and his daughter as well Amelia, Gage and both their girls.

When I was done reading the Epilogue I thought oh I wish I had more.  You ready for this there was more a Bonus Epilogue down load.  Yes, that is right there was more. I downloaded it and devoured it. How could you say no to more Gage, Amelia, and all the family group chat shenanigans.

I would love to read more of Gage & Amelia and even more of their sibling group chats.

A few of my favorites:

Anyone with functioning eyes can see that he’s the kind of handsome that makes intelligent women forget their own names.

I live my life with the mantra “I’ve got this.” He lives his with “I’ve got you.” And somewhere in the middle, we brush up against the same need – me, trying to prove I’m fine. Him, proving I don’t have to be.

He moves into me, one hand sliding into my hair, the other skimming my jaw with at touch that says, I see you. I built this for you. I’d build more.

This is Gage who builds temples and waits at the altar. And God help me, I think this version might ruin me even faster.

I will tear this world down and build her a kingdom from the f**king ashes. They hurt the wrong woman. They made her bleed. I’ll make them disappear.

(from bonus Epilogue download) “You ready?” he asks, eyes locked to mine. “Because I’m about to vow my fucking soul into your skin.”

Review by Twinsie Kelly

Dying to find your soul mate can suck. But it can be so totally worth it!

When I first started reading I wasn’t completely sure if I was going to really like it. There was a lot of “you must believe in God,” “he has to believe in God,” etc. It’s good to believe in something. Well, I kept reading because the story was starting to get going. We are learning more about guardian angels and guardian demons. Then there is a little love triangle conflict happening. What?! There is literally so much going on that you have to keep turning the pages because if you don’t, you are bound to miss something!

Kendra is given a second chance at life but this second chance is with her soul mate… as long as she can show him love. She has one week. At the same time, she has to contend with her own guardian angel and demon, plus her family and friends.

This is an epic love story with a million roadblocks but when love conquers all evil, you never have to give up hope!

Review by Twinsie Kelly

Being honest here, I have a love/hate relationship with this story. First, I have to tell you that I did purchase and read the second book. Right out of the gate, I was a tad turned off by Rose and some of her personality toward working at the prison. She is young and naïve, and I almost disliked her right away. I was intrigued by Jagger, and you know he didn’t do the crime, but he is quite a bit of a pain. Anyhow, these two meet in the Creative Writing class and almost immediately are drawn toward each other. The relationship between these two moves incredibly fast. Some of which seems quite unreal, especially since this is happening in prison. But, as I say this, the story is unraveling and keeping my attention quite well, even though I am a smidge irritated at some of what is happening.

The story with Rose and Jagger just proves that it doesn’t matter which side of the tracks you grew up on, sometimes you just need a little trust and a little help (sometimes from the most unexpected places) to make it out on top. Again, even though I had a love/hate relationship with Defending Jagger, I am thoroughly intrigued with finding out what happens to Dallas because, whoa! I did NOT see that coming!

Trust doesn’t come easily for Luke, but he must have faith in Cassidy when he’s too wounded to protect her. Even though they have limited options on the run, he hopes they’ve found an unexpected ally in a rural location. Too high of hopes, it seems, because they’re only pushed closer to law. Review by Twinsie Kelly

Holy, I don’t even know what to say! Book 3 starts exactly where book 2 ends. Literally….BANG!

I have no clue how these two keep going on, but they do. Luke is hurt bad and Cassidy has to get help, and fast. Zero, thank the gods for Zero, gets her on a path, and she finds a helpful hand. But even this helpful hand doesn’t last long. They have fallen into a bizarro mad scientist war and they were just innocent bystanders a week ago. Chaos is a constant and it is sucking them dry. However, everything that was before Project Xol just doesn’t seem important anymore. Their relationship is getting stronger. But they can both be their own worst enemy when it comes to their relationship. Each one, with good reason, questions their feelings because of the constant chaos. Is it real? Is it because they are constantly being hunted? Do they only need each other right now? They hardly know each other, but there is sooooooo much chemistry!!!!!!!

***small spoiler alert*** THEY KISS!!!!!!!

There is so much going on all the time. And so many twists! You don’t really know who to trust, when to sleep, can you go outside, will he kiss me again? (yes, he does)

You really should stop reading this review and just read Find. And as soon as you finish Find, skip reading my review for STOLEN because you will just need to read it too like I did. 😊

#review #suspence These Silent Woods by Kimi Cunningham Grant

No electricity, no family, no connection to the outside world. For eight years, Cooper and his young daughter, Finch, have lived in isolation in a remote cabin in the northern Appalachian woods. And that’s exactly the way Cooper wants it, because he’s got a lot to hide. Finch has been raised on the books filling the cabin’s shelves and the beautiful but brutal code of life in the wilderness. But she’s starting to push back against the sheltered life Cooper has created for her—and he’s still haunted by the painful truth of what it took to get them there.

The only people who know they exist are a mysterious local hermit named Scotland, and Cooper’s old friend, Jake, who visits each winter to bring them food and supplies. But this year, Jake doesn’t show up, setting off an irreversible chain of events that reveals just how precarious their situation really is. Suddenly, the boundaries of their safe haven have blurred—and when a stranger wanders into their woods, Finch’s growing obsession with her could put them all in danger. After a shocking disappearance threatens to upend the only life Finch has ever known, Cooper is forced to decide whether to keep hiding—or finally face the sins of his past.

Vividly atmospheric and masterfully tense, These Silent Woods is a poignant story of survival, sacrifice, and how far a father will go when faced with losing it all.

Cooper and Finch have been living off grid for around 8 years now, on his army’s buddy property away from everyone. His buddy Jake comes and visits once a year and brings enough supplies until his net years visit. but this year the date passes and no Jake, so Cooper has to do the unthinkable and go to the store for a years’ worth and bring Finch along with him. Terrified he would be out in public were someone may notice him isn’t what he wanted bit as a father he has to do what needs to be done. After being away from people except for the nosey property neighbor life is quite peaceful for them but this year feels different, and that gut feeling doesn’t go away for a while. Will Cooper be able to keep his past right where he wants it to be or will he have to face it and spend the rest of his life in jail.

#Review – #0.5 Zodiac Academy: Origins of an Academy Bully by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Dark magic is forbidden at Zodiac Academy. That’s why I hide it so well.

But now I’m supposed to mentor Darius Acrux: the son of the most ruthless Dragon Shifter in Solaria. If he’s caught using blood magic, he’ll lose his claim to the throne.

The problem is? Our families are up to something, and we’re determined to find out what.

No matter what dark power we must turn to…

Welcome to Zodiac Academy, where your star sign defines your destiny. As the Fae of the future, you will soon learn the merciless way to claim your power. Life among the Vampires, Shifters and Sirens is no easy ride, but if you can make it through your exams, you might just be able to harness your inner strength and earn your place among the elite.

***This is a prequel novella set five years before Zodiac Academy: The Awakening, Book 1 in the Zodiac Academy series.***

When I started this series, I didn’t realize there were so many books and that it should be read in a certain order. Thankfully, I haven’t missed much but it was nice going back to the beginning to find out how Lance and Darius’s bond formed. Darius’s father is still a monster and I loathe him even more now. It was also nice to see how Lance was completely different compared to now (I’m on book 3 of the series). Looks I’ll have to go back and read the one told by the boys too.

This novella introduces us to the dark magic you hear Lance talk about later on. If you read this one first, you will get spoilers. So I actually liked reading book 1 and 2 first and then going back to read this one. I think I’ll like that for the boys book too. It’s such a big world and I’m so looking forward to reading all of these books. I also can’t wait to get them in paperback because I know I’ll want to read them again and again.
