In the Alaska wilderness, four streetwise boys became men—and brothers
Now the crazy ex-military survivalist who plucked Gabriel and three other boys from an abusive foster care home has died. But the sarge leaves them a final mission–to revive the dying town of Rescue.
Gabe is done with being a hero.
Wounded in body and soul, the retired SEAL simply wants to remain holed up in his isolated cabin. He sure doesn’t want to be chief of police in some defunct town. But he has his orders.
Audrey needs a place to hide
After the Chicago librarian discovers a horrendous crime, she wakes to an assassin in her bedroom. Injured and terrified, she flees, covering her trail every inch of the way. New name, new ID. New home. As Audrey learns to survive in Rescue, she begins to fall for the town…and the intimidating chief of police who protects it.
Can the shy introvert and the deadly police chief find a life together?
Despite the discord in town, Gabe is finding his own peace…with the quiet young woman who seems to have no past. She’s adorable and caring and so very lost. But how can he trust someone who lies to him with every breath she takes?
Cherise Sinclair is my go to author when I want a satisfying read. Heat, emotion, suspense. She’s got it all. ~ NYT Bestselling author Lexi Blake
I received this book from an honest review.
**Clapping** Oh man!! I was so excited for this new series and it did not disappoint.
Meeting the guys in the Shadowlands book with Z was a great introduction of the boys for us. I gotta say Gabe and Hawk are the ones who I was wondering baout but Bull and Caz are just hilariously funny. I can’t wait for the rest of the series.
This book was a perfect blend of characters. Gabe is Mr. Anti-Social and Audrey/Julie is a “nerd” who has been lead to believe she isn’t anything special or worthwhile. Seeing the two open up and form an amazing bond even under the guise of it being “Just One Night” was so angsty.
Gabe is so cool, calm and collected and once he knows Audrey/Julie’s backstory he is all in to keep her. Audrey is so scared to open-up because she doesn’t want another death on her hands while hiding out from the bad guys. When she finally opens-up to Gabe and her friends we know it’s not the end…… The story of Audrey/Julie on the run was great to read. Seeing her desire to be in Chicago but falling for the small town charm and the heartbreak she was in about her future.
The story of the crazy religious cult is obviously going to be an issue in the next book or two. I can’t wait to see what brother is going to be next…..Caz or Hawk. I mean I wanna see the payer settle down but Hawk needs to be loved. He has some serious ice walls that need to be broken down!!!
