#Review #Christmas #Shifter Holly Jolly Lycan Christmas ( A True Mates Stand-alone) by Alicia Montgomery

Despite becoming one of the most famous celebrity chefs in New York, Dante Muccino’s wolf is restless. After watching all his friends and family pair up with their True Mates, the animal inside him wants what they have too. Children. Family. And a woman to call his own. When he runs into rival Holly Taylor, his wolf is intrigued, but the frosty chef won’t give him the time of day.

Holly Taylor’s life felt like a big juggling act. All she wants to do is hide out in the kitchen and create fabulous and delicious dishes, and earn the respect of her peers. But life has thrown her extra things to juggle, and she didn’t need one more, particularly in the form of Dante Muccino. But there’s something about the easygoing chef that’s melting the icy walls she spent years to build. He’s a distraction she can’t afford, and if she’s not careful, she may lose more than her heart to the handsome chef.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book.

It’s that time of year again. Time for family gatherings, Christmas movies on tv, Christmas music on the radio, Santa in the malls, and children trying to be oh so good to stay on the nice list. The one thing that’s good to have all year round is SHIFTERS!!!!!!
Alicia Montgomery takes us back to the True Mates world with Dante Muccino.
We’ve met Dante before, his sister is the Lupa of New Jersey and his brother in law the Alpha of New York.
Dante is a celebrity chef, now that his family’s restaurant has taken off. He has had his pick of women, but now having watched his family and friends find their true mates he realizes that there’s more out there the short term relationships he has had, and he’s ready for it.
Holly Taylor is the Head Chef at the new French Restaurant across the street from Muccino’s. To the staff and the people she went to culinary school with she is known as the Ice Queen. A lot has changed in her life in the last year, her brother and sister in law were murdered, she took custody of their daughter so she won’t be put into foster care, she left her job in Paris so that she could bring her up in the states, and helped to start this new restaurant. When she and Dante first meet they get off on the wrong foot and it takes awhile to get back on the right one. However, when they first meet there is also a spark of attraction, but Holly has no time for that between the restaurant and Hannah she has no time for a man in her life.
What happens next is a family finding their way to each other, Russian mobsters, Holly finding out that lycans exist, and Christmas.
Christmas is truly a magical time to bring a True Mate couple together.
Montgomery has done a excellent job at writing a Christmas love story. I have a feeling we have seen the last of these couples, but what a wonderful way to see them go.

#NewRelease #Contemporay #Review House of Payne: Max ( HoP Book 6) by Stacy Gail

TRIGGER WARNING: This book contains flashbacks of violence and drug abuse, and the impact of these factors on family members. If you have issues with these elements, this book is not for you.

Chicago’s premiere tattoo studio, House Of Payne, is across the street from the Mad Cow diner, but it might as well be on another planet as far as waitress Paradise Simone is concerned. She’s a good girl from Waukegan with a past she’d rather forget, and a future that goes only as far as the next day. What does she know about superstars and paparazzi?

But Pari does know danger when she sees it, and tattooist Max Kulagin has it written all over him. A proper Waukegan girl should know to steer well clear, but she can’t resist Max when he leaves beautiful, intimate art sketched out on cheap diner napkins.

Beautiful, intimate art…of her.

Max knows ugliness. He was born in it. Raised in it. Had it shoved down his throat every goddamn day. So when he stumbles across true beauty, he worships it. There’s a deep sensuality in the waitress who likes to suck on her pen whenever he’s around, and he’s just the man to bring that beauty out in her. She might be a lady in the street, but one look at Pari tells him she’s going to be a freak in the bed.

And in the shower.

And while he’s driving with her head going to town in his lap.

The life Max leads might be in the spotlight, but it’s Pari who gets caught in the glare. When her past catches up to her, it’s her life that holds all the excitement, and not in a good way. But there’s no force on earth that can take Max’s beautiful Paradise away now that he’s finally found it.

***This standalone, mildly erotic contemporary romance contains a woman with an oral fixation and a man who’s happy to encourage it. There are multiple sex scenes that include oral sex. No cheating, no love triangles, no cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed. Due to adult language and sexual content, this book is not intended for people under the age of eighteen***

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book.

Sooo, Max is probably some I’ve been waiting forever to read it seems, ever since he started talking to Essie in Steele’s book!!! I knew what I thought he was going liked from his first words and I’m glad to say he was so much MORE!!!! I also had pictured who he was going to look like, hello Josh Mario John!!!
Pari, she is someone who has been through some deep s**t, but she didn’t let that break her. She is someone that has become stronger than even she knew.
Pari works as a waitress at The Mad Cow, love the name, a diner across the street from the House of Payne shop. Max has been coming to the diner for a month and during that month he has left her little drawings on napkins. Sometimes funny drawings, sometimes drawings of her, and sometimes very naughty drawings of her.
As you can tell from the drawings that he leaves her, Max is a artist. He is one of the premier artist at the House of Payne, the top tattoo shop in Chicago if not the world.
I love how easy these two seem to come together it seems almost effortless, but let’s face it, it wasn’t. Max has spent that month falling more for the girl with the purple hair and killer butt than he has for anyone else and Pari has spent that month secretly keeping his drawings and falling for him too.
When her past comes back to haunt her Pari thinks about leaving the city to be safe, but after hearing about her past Max vows to do everything in his power to make sure she is happy, safe, and staying by his side where she belongs.
I don’t think I’ve ever smiled so much while reading a book, not laughed just smiled because these are two characters that I can plainly see in my head and having a picture of Max in you head is a good thing!!
Gail did a wonderful job with Pari’s backstory, showed how you can overcome anything, if you have people that love you and you can trust at your side. She also wrote about the family that they have in the epilogue and it seems that Max and Pari get everything that could possibly want to make them happy.
I can’t wait to meet Tag in the next House of Payne story, I just know it’s gonna be a good one.

#REVIEW – Trinity: MMF Bisexual Menage Romance by M. Never

Two seductive strangers.
One scandalous night.
A trinity of temptation.

It was only supposed to be a single encounter. A night stripped of sexual inhibitions.

We were never supposed to become romantically involved.

But they were alluring and irresistible.

They were also the enemy.

Their company wants to take the one thing that means anything to me.

Now, I’m navigating a dicey path. Loving two men who can destroy me in a multitude of ways. They can shatter my heart, wreck my dreams, but worst of all, demolish the only place I’ve ever called home.

Trinity is 30k word M/M/F standalone novella. And, like with all M. Never works, spare panties may be required.

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

This is my first book by M. Never and definitely won’t be my last.

I enjoyed Jenn and her sass, her feistiness and her love for her role model. Jenn is a cook after getting taken in by an older restaurant owner. He taught her everything he knew and looked at her like a daughter.

Shane and Chase. Chase and Shane. Holy crapoli. Yup. Definitely book boyfriend material. You could see their love for Jenn even from the very beginning. Although it was meant to be a one night stand, after their moment together *swoon*, they wanted more.

Poor Jenn also has to deal with Ty Winters. A douche canoe who threatens to take everything from her.

The last couple of chapters had me choked up. For a shorter story, M. Never definitely knew how to pack it with emotion.

#Review – #NewRelease – Liquid Courage by K.S. Adkins

Liquid Courage by K.S. Adkins

Before Mercy F*ck there was another story…

You know the one.
Where the female is heavily armed, feisty, has a penchant for finding trouble, doesn’t need a man and likes to drink a lot.
Where the male sees what could be his, wants it desperately, would beg for it but, needs her sober long enough to realize she wants it too.
Yeah, that one.

As the saying goes; ‘when alcohol goes in, truth comes out’.
And for this couple, the truth could quite literally be deadly.
But, will Liquid Courage be enough to save them?

Ages 18+ due to blatant profanity, detailed sex positions, violence, impressive alcohol consumption and contempt for following the rules.
You do not have to read Mercy F*ck to enjoy Liquid Courage.
This novel is a standalone with a two-handed happy ending.

Goodreads

GULP! Liquid courage is what everyone needs….even just a little, lol! This book, oh this book had me laughing like crazy. I could not put it down. This is where Mercy and Dion meet and the introduction is rather hilarious. These two, along with Mercy’s “apprentice”, Pita, will not disappoint. Everything down to the PI firm, bombs, sex clubs and toys with some foul mouthed characters had me gasping and laughing the entire time. The craziness this trio gets into is thrilling and edgy. I can’t say much about the story itself as I refuse to give spoilers but you have to give this book a try. An absolute must read. If you need something that will pull you in and keep you there til the very end, then this is it! It’s action packed with all the sarcasm you can handle in just the right spots. K.S. Adkins rocked this story!

#REVIEW – Author Anonymous by E.K. Blair

*An intoxicatingly risqué stand-alone book.

She’s an author.
She’s a mother.
She’s a wife.
She’s a fraud, a woman marked and bound by her own deceit.

Experience the astounding tale of how Anonymous battled through a year of scandals and betrayals, how her world fell from its axis with a single choice, and how she lost herself between reality and fantasy.

This is a stand-alone tangled in lust, heartbreak, and contrition.

*Based on a true story.

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

I’m not even sure what to say right now or even how to rate this book. I gave it 5 stars because EK Blair’s writing is fan-freaking-tastic but for the story? Oh gosh. It’s hard. So so hard.

This book came out last year and unfortunately I didn’t get around to finishing it until today. As most of you know, this book is based on a true story. It’s a frustrating, heartbreaking, epic tale and EK Blair weaves it altogether to give you so much sorrow…gah, I can’t even right now.

Tori ends up meeting this man, Alec and together, sparks fly, lies twist and so much agony, I don’t even know where to begin. I like Alec. I really do. I find that I want to know more about him. I want to know why he was the he was. I want to know his point of view while everything happened with Tori.

I’ll read books about anything. I have no triggers. Nothing will hold me back. But this story is probably the most frustrating I’ve ever read. Tori is selfish. Even when she knows what she’s doing is wrong and admits to it, she still goes and does it. It’s a train wreck of wrong decisions and poor choices.

But the story is one you can’t put down. You want to keep reading to find out what happens next but that ending? It made me sad. That’s all I’m going to say.

#REVIEW – Logan Kade by Tijan

You think you know me?
Manwhore. Partier. Fighter.
You know what? You’re right. I’m all those things. F*ck with mine and I’ll f*ck you ten times harder. Suspensions. Arrests. You think I care?

So yeah, I may fit the bad boy image, but there’s so much more you don’t know.

I’m loyal to a damned fault. I’ll never leave your side. The real Logan Kade isn’t a manwhore. When I love, I love hard and completely.

Taylor saw that side of me. Inside of me. She saw my darkness and pain, and the second she did, she owned me.

You may think you know me…
…but she’s the only one who sees me.

**Standalone for new readers, but does fit in the Fallen Crest Series between Fallen Crest University and Fallen Crest Home.

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

Holy crap on a cracker. I don’t even know where to begin! This book consumed me. From beginning to end, I was in love with all things Logan Kade. He’s been a favourite since the very first book in the Fallen Crest series but now that I got inside his head, he’s my number one.

Taylor Bruce reminds me of Sam so much. She’s strong, determined but broken and shattered in side. She loves with all of her, every single inch. She had a difficult past after being witness to a tragedy but she doesn’t let that get in the way of her loving hard and fierce. When she first stands beside Sam’s side, ready to fight, I knew she would be one of my favourite heroines. Tijan knows how to create a strong female, one we can all relate to. And while I may not be in college and a little older than these characters, they’ve become a part of me and my life. Every now and again, I’ll think of them and I know when the last book comes, I’ll be back to starting from the beginning. I will never get enough of these characters, this family.

Logan Kade is what I expected and more. Near the ending, my heart was breaking but I understood. I didn’t like it but I got it. I’m just glad that he finally pulled his crap together and went for his last girl. We’ve all seen his story, getting snippits here and there. He put on a good front with the women and alcohol but finding out about the real him, that’s what I enjoyed most. His humor, his quick wit and his sexiness, oozed off of the pages.

Taylor and Logan, along with Sam and Mason, are two of my favourite couples in romance.

Thank you Tijan for bringing us into this world.

Now onto Fallen Crest Home.

xx

#REVIEW – Four Crows by Lily White

“You’ll have to forgive me, Darlin’, for all the unforgiveable things I’m about to do…”

Loyalty is never easy – especially when you’re forced to choose between family and the man you would do anything to possess…

Born into a world that no child should endure, Magpie “Maggie” Crow is doted on by her loving father and over protective brothers. As much as she loves them, she fears them, especially when she learns secrets they’ve kept hidden.

Elliot McLaughlin joined the U.S. Marine Corps right out of high school to provide for his wife and son. He’d never intended to become a father so young, but was willing to do what it took to give his family everything they needed.

After Elliot’s family goes missing, he returns from war to an empty home. Obsessed with discovering who took his family, he investigates their disappearance and plots his revenge.

Passion brings Maggie and Elliot together. Obsession pushes them apart. As a bitter battle begins between Elliot and the Crows, Maggie’s heart hangs in the balance.

**Disclaimer: This book is intended for audiences 18 years of age or older. The subject matter of this book discusses sensitive topics that may be a trigger for some readers.**

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author for review and critique.

I’m a huge fan of Lily and her writing but this book blew me out of the water. It gave me all the feels and left me begging for more all throughout the book. I couldn’t read each page fast enough to find out what happened next. Although this book has a love story in it, the dark and twisted side of Lily’s writing is smack dab in the middle and it makes me love it even more.

Lily takes us on a wild ride filled with love, desperation and revenge.

Without giving too much away because honestly, you should just read this book and experience it for your self, I’ll say that Elliott and Maggie are two of my favourite characters out of Lily’s books. Elliott is broken, looking to seek revenge to those who wronged him. And Maggie? Poor poor Maggie. She’s caught in the middle of a very dangerous and twisted game.

I can’t say enough on how much I loved this story. I can’t wait for more from Lily.

I give this book a million dark delicious stars.

Broken Wide Open yellow fonts 1-24-17

Goodreads

This standalone is anything but broken. Right from the beginning you are pulled right into the story. Grace is a strong woman that experienced true heartbreak. She goes to Bora Bora alone trying to get herself together. She meets Leo in Bora Bora. Fireworks are exploding but things don’t go the way you would expect. Then back to reality. Grace is getting back on her feet after the wedding that never should have happened. Grace runs into Leo and the tension is palpable. There is always something in the background that is trying to keep them apart, but the attraction is incredible. As the story continues you feel like you are going to continue on with a predictable happily ever after. But then you are hit unexpectedly with a twist. When this happened it clenched my heart. The raw emotion that you take from these characters is moving. Then I started questioning whether the outcome of this story was going to be what I wanted. It was anything but predictable and is an absolute must read. The spin is perfectly flawed. It’s exactly what you need for an incredible ending.

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

Ruined by Shiloh Walker
Marin & Sebastien
EH.. IT WAS OK
3 STARS

So, this is my first book by Shiloh Walker. It was a fairly vanilla kind of book. In fact I think if you take out a few choice swear words this could be classified as Young Adult. The characters are not YA, but the storyline seems to be.

Marin is an actress. She’s struggling to help out an old friend and fellow co-worker with a life altering event. It doesn’t help that she’s had the hot for him since they were young. She’s smart when needed and not so smart when definitely NOT needed. I struggled to connect with her as most of her dialogue made me wanna punch her in the face.

Sebastien is also an actor and has been tramatized by a horrific event. He’s shut himself off from the outside world and has booze as his only companion. Marin visits him a couple times a week, but doesn’t seem to get through to him at all.

The supporting character cast is pretty vast. Sebastien’s family and friends. Co-workers and Marin’s friends. I wouldn’t say they helped or hurt the story, but they weren’t anyone I would mention as more than an additional character in the story.

So, I guess it’s fair to say I didn’t love the story. I guess I liked it a bit. The storyline was ok, but nothing I could latch onto. The dialogue was ok, the pacing a little slow for me, and the writing style a little choppy.

#Review – Hearts Insanity by @Ellie__Masters

30694488

Skye Summers endured a tragic past. She wants what the past stole, and despite lingering scars, she’s surviving and thriving. Now she cures the sick, heals the wounded, and takes care of those clinging to life. The only person she can’t heal is herself, because Skye is too broken for love.

Ash Dean has it all: Fame, fortune, and the adoration of screaming fans. The constant parties, drugs, alcohol, and an endless string of one-night stands are taking their toll. He gives and his fans take, until he’s lost within the crowd. He wants someone to see him for the man he wishes to be rather than the one he’s become.

One fate…

Two lives…

Three Days…

That’s the proposition…

It would be insane to accept and Skye’s a fool to agree, but she’s tired of playing it safe.

It’s time to take a leap of faith, besides what could go wrong?

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

Heart’s Insanity: an Angel Fire Rock Romance by Ellie Masters
Ash & Skye
WOW… WHAT A RIDE
5 STARS

This one is not your typical “rocker” romance! So much more is going on. So many emotions, so many feels, I can hardly contain myself. Ellie did a great job of putting me right there in the thick of it. I felt like I was part of this crazy crew.

Skye is fucked up, possibly beyond repair. She’s endured so much heartache and torment at such a young age. Now as an adult, and a successful one at that, she’s still messed up, but just rolls with the punches and takes what she can get… a.k.a. Spencer. What goes through a girls mind when she picks a guy who treats her like that? Who knows! She amazed me at every turn of the pages and I loved her unconditionally.

Ash isn’t your typical “rock star,” well, maybe he was, but once Skye sees right through his BS he’s instantly captivated by her. I have to hand it to him. He doesn’t give up easily and thank God for that! Ash stands up to Skye, her brother, and his bandmates for “the one.” Exhilarating to read!

The supporting character cast is pretty big here. Let’s see if I can remember all the names… The Angel Fire crew is as follows… Bent, Bash, Spike, and Noodles. I’m not sure about Bent at the moment. He was kind of a dick! There’s a shady manger and the security detail which I ended up liking. Then there’s Spencer, Skye’s ex-fiancé. What a controlling asspipe. And my personal favorite, Bean (Beanpole) Skyes BIG brother. And when I say BIG brother I mean like 6’8″ of a BIG brother. He swooned me immediately.

So, I read it in less than a day. It’s that good! The characters (even the shithead ones) were very convincing and mesmerizing. The dialogue flowed flawlessly and the storyline was impeccable. Plenty of tension leading up to the climax that I struggled to put it down. I loved it and can’t wait to see what comes next.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ellie Masters has been exploring the worlds of romance, dark erotica, science fiction, and fantasy by reading and writing the stories she likes to read. When not writing, Ellie can be found outside, where her passion for all things outdoor reigns supreme: off roading, ATV-ing, scuba diving, hiking, and breathing fresh air, are just a few of her favorite pursuits.

Wife, lover, and mother are her most treasured roles, but Ellie has played many parts: counter-girl at McDonalds, a research assistant in a Nanofabrication facility, rocket scientist, physician, and now a published author with the release of her debut novel Changing Roles.

She has lived all over the United States, east, west, north, south and central, but grew up under the Hawaiian sun. Now, Ellie is proud to call herself a Southern transplant, learning to say y’all and ‘bless her heart’ with the best of them. She lives with her beloved husband, two children who refuse to flee the nest, and four fur-babies; three cats who rule the household, and a dog who wants nothing other than for the cats to be his friends. The cats have a different opinion regarding this matter.

Ellie’s favorite way to spend an evening is curled up on a couch, laptop in place, watching a fire, drinking a good wine, and bringing forth all the characters from her mind to the page and hopefully into the hearts of her readers.
