#WOTR18 #AuthorSpotlight – Attending Author Jenna Jacob @jennajacob3

Jenna Jacob

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

I’m Jenna Jacob, a kinky monkey who loves life and loves to laugh! I write BDSM Erotic Romance, Romantic Comedy, and Erotic Contemporary stories with hot Alpha men and feisty women who make it well worth the effort to seduce.

When and Why did you start to write?

I’ve been writing all my life, it’s like breathing air, but didn’t start publishing stories until five years ago.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

OMG – That list is too long and it keeps growing by the minute.

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

You can’t just vomit words out onto the page, you have to dissect each line and ask yourself a million questions – or as Mr. Jacob loving refers to it as: “Analyze the piss out of each and every story.” Seriously, writing is hard work, but I’ve never had a job more rewarding or fulfilling!

What are you working on now?

Oh, a slow-burning scorcher! The second in “The Doms of Her Life” Titled: “Heavenly Rising”. I’m co-authoring with the amazing Shayla Black and Isabella LaPearl.

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

I’m a pantser 99.99999% of the time.

#WOTR18 #Review #TwinsieForTheDayJordan – 24 Roses by Elena M. Reyes

24 Roses

24 roses.
24 days filled with declarations of love.
24 moments where life will mark her as mine.

I’ve loved Anahi Pratt since she moved in next door at the age of twelve. With her knobby knees and a mouthful of braces she made my heart thump harshly inside my pre-pubescent chest. One look into the greenest eyes I’d ever seen and I was hooked for life. Owned.

However, I was tongue-tied and confused. Did the only thing I could and offered my friendship.

After years, those feelings never changed. Instead they grew—morphed into something deep and profound. But never once did she see me as more than a friend. Never did she see the man that worshiped the ground she walked on. The man that desired to be what she wanted. Needed.

I stayed on the sidelines until that day:

A crash.

Her life on the line and my world came to a screeching halt.

Life is short and changes in the blink of an eye, a lesson I suddenly understood. There wasn’t a second to wait. No more hiding behind the guise of friendship.

She was mine and it was time I claimed her.

Goodreads

Review by Jordan

Can Bryson win Anahi over and make her see that they are meant to be together? Their childhood friendship that has withstood years of other relationships and set ups culminate into an epic love story or will they realize they were never meant to be anything other than friends. Bryson is determined to woo Anahi with a rose each day and a determination to prove he the man that she has always wanted. Will 24 roses be enough? The story of best friends with hidden desires for each other is sweet in the best of ways. They are the cutest couple with their moms trying to constantly set them up. With everyone around them knowing their true desires, will the two of them finally be able to find their way to each other and finally live their happily ever after? I loved these characters and their magical story of how the find their true love within their best friend.

Elena M. Reyes was born and raised in Miami Florida. She is the epitome of a Floridian and if she could live in her beloved flip-flops, she would.
As a small child, she was always intrigued with all forms of art—whether it was dancing to island rhythms, or painting with any medium she could get her hands on. Her first taste of writing came to her during her fifth grade year when her class was prompted to participate in the D. A. R. E. Program and write an essay on what they’d learned.
Her passion for reading over the years has amassed her with hours of pleasure. It wasn’t until she stumbled upon fanfiction that her thirst to write overtook her world. She now resides in Central Florida with her husband and son, spending all her down time letting her creativity flow and letting her characters grow.

#WOTR18 #AuthorSpotlight – Attending Author Elissa Daye @daenira

Elissa Daye

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Elissa Daye

When and Why did you start to write?

I started writing odds and ends when I was a child. I loved reading so much that I wanted to recreate the magic for myself. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I really attempted to finish a complete novel.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

I love J.K. Rowling. She’s an inspiration to me even though we write completely separate genres. Anne Rice and Christina Dodd are two more of my favorites.

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

It’s cathartic. Seriously, who needs therapy when you can work out some of your issues through your characters. Maybe that’s why I get so lost in their stories.

What are you working on now?

Almost Home a contemporary romance with a leading lady dealing with a traumatic past. It will be an emotional rollercoaster for sure.

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

I do a little of each actually. Sometimes, I just want to fly by the seat of my pants and let the muse take over. Other times, I need to find ways to strengthen my plot. I do more plotting for my fantasy titles than my contemporary romances.

#NewRelease #Review #ReverseHarem – The More the Merrier by KB Ladnier

This would be Lowen Westmon’s first Christimas since the passing of her father. She decides she’ll make the most of it and spend her holiday with nothing more than sappy Christmas movies and a ton of alcohol to get her through it. However, her plans are derailed when the second half of her duplex cabin, gets rented out for the next two weeks by three sexy men that are in town for an all-male, holiday strip show. At first, she’s thrilled to have such hot man candy right next door. But between their loud music, incessant need to use all the hot water, and constant badgering for her to join in on the fun, Lowen might just lose her mind instead. That is, if she doesn’t lose her heart to them first. Naughty Santas, blizzards, and one too many spiked egg nogs, are just a few of the things in store for Lowen on this holiday. But the question still stands; What will happen after Christmas is over? ***Recommended for ages 18+ for strong sexual situations and language***

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

One of the things I love about this author is her dark humor…her sarcasm is right up there with mine so I get her totally.  Another thing I love about her books are the way she writes the perfect men to complement our heroine.  Her heroines are always smart, sassy,  and a whole lot badassy!!

This book starts with Low missing her father.  She is going to drown her sorrows with Jack Daniels and Christmas movies when 3 hotties move in next door.  Ez is the sweet boy next door.  Tobi is the hot dominant and Jasper is the flirty one of the group.

The guys are all fawning over our girl and she is doing everything in her power to ignore them even if her libido is not on board with it.  The guys push Low and soon she is a part of their holiday charity show.  This forces her to spend more and more time with the guys and start to grow more and more feelings for them.

We see Low pushing her feelings for the guys away because of her abandonment fears but when she must face everything she has her trusty best friend Sara there to smack her into facing what is really happening.  Everyone needs a best friend like Sara!

I loved loved loved the story.  The guys all have a special place in my heart just like Low’s.

K.B. Ladnier is from a small city in Southern Mississippi. She has one daughter and three cats who she claims are stealing her soul in only tiny doses so she won’t notice. She is a cyborg and spends most of her time hiding from her tiny human so she doesn’t have to share her snacks as she reads her favorite books. She hates the beach yet lives only ten minutes away from it and daydreams of mountains and snow. She is married to a hot nerd and loves him dearly even though he hordes cookies and occasionally hides her prosthetic leg from her when she’s mad, so he can get a quick escape. She plans to write as long as people continue loving what she does, otherwise she’s going to say screw it and do her second dream of owning a coffee shop. Though, she may still do both.

#newrelease – Our Alternate Ending by Katie Fox

Our Alternate Ending

She was the hot mess who stumbled through his door.
He was the one who gave her a chance.

*****************

When Elle Callihan finds herself on the twenty-sixth floor of the country’s top publishing firm after putting her dreams on hold for five years, she’s not about to allow the opportunity to slip through her fingers.

There’s just one problem.

Her new, humorless, this-needs-to-be-done-right-now, jerk of a boss makes her working life a living hell.

With the minutes on his own clock ticking, CEO and certified workaholic, Owen Caldwell, has no time for anything. Not relationships. Not life. And certainly not the connection that simmers between himself and his new assistant.

As the pair work together, their undeniable attraction draws them closer, bringing a realization that sometimes life and the people in it are worth slowing down for. But when Elle is presented with a plot twist she never saw coming, she quickly learns that crafting her own story may be much harder than she initially thought.

Faced with a difficult decision, she has two choices: write the truth or deliver an alternate ending she knows they both deserve.

Katie Fox was born in Florida and raised in Pennsylvania, where she still currently resides with her husband and son. A hopeless romantic, she is a sucker for a good love story. When you don’t find her nose buried in one, she’s usually found in her writing cave, giving life to the voices in her head. Since a very young age, writing has been her passion. Katie has a crazy obsession with social media and loves interacting with her fans.

#WOTR18 #authorspotlight – Attending Author AJ Renee @ajreneeauthor

A.J. Renee

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

I’m AJ Renee and I’m a romance author who loves happily ever afters. I’m a military wife and mother of three little girls who I adore and drive me nuts. I fell in love with reading after I was given The Secret by Julie Garwood. School always forced reading and while there were a few I enjoyed, it made me resent reading. Now I look forward to falling in love with a good book.

When and Why did you start to write?

I started writing almost four years ago. My best friend passed suddenly and the fact that she never got her own happily ever after nagged at me. An idea popped into my head and wouldn’t go away until I sat down and started working it out into the first draft of Widower’s Aura. I never planned on publishing it. It was for me and it was a form of grief therapy, but things kind of snow balled after that.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

Julie Garwood, Nora Roberts, Kathleen Brooks, HJ Bellus, Carina Adams, and too many others to count. If I loved it, my friends heard about it.

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

That you can’t force it. The characters write themselves.

What are you working on now?

My first paranormal romance.

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

I’m a mix. If I plot too much than I find myself unable to write. I know where I want to go but there are many times that my characters surprise me with a twist. I think this makes it more fun and even addicting for me. I want to know what is going to happen.

#review #Excerpt – Deeper Water, Once and Forever Book 3 by Lauren Stewart @ReadLaurenS

Title:             Deeper Water

Subtitle:       Carson and Laney’s After Happily-Ever-After

Series:          Once and Forever #3

Author:        Lauren Stewart

Genre:          New Adult/Romantic Comedy

Release        Date: Feb 11, 2018

Word Count: 57,000

Two people can only tread water for so long

A steamy new romantic comedy with the characters you fell in love with in Darker Water and Virtually Impossible.

My name is Carson Bennett.

The first time I slept with Laney Temple was two years ago.

At the time, I thought I deserved a medal for all the effort I put into making it happen. I ended up with so much more than I’ve ever deserved.

Now, with everyone and my brother getting hitched, I think I’m finally ready for the next big step. To make what Lane and I have better and stronger. Deeper. I’m just not sure if she’s ready.

Unfortunately, life isn’t all bacon and glitter just because we say three little words to each other.

When we’re horizontal, our communication couldn’t be better. And the other forty-nine percent of the day—when my pants are zipped, her bra is hooked, and nobody’s hands are anywhere fun—it’s still easy and full of laughs.

It’s just that last one percent we haven’t quite figured out yet.

Time’s ticking. And if we don’t repair the cracks soon, water is going to rush in and break this whole damn thing apart.

~ ~ ~

Carson and Laney are back! Just in time for Valentine’s Day. Get a look at their after happily-ever-after and be there for Hayden and Andi’s island wedding.

*Deeper Water is not a true standalone contemporary romance novel like the others in this series. You will enjoy it much more if you read Darker Water first. I suggest starting there.

Darker Water, book one in this series, will be on sale for only 0.99

from Thursday, Feb 8 until Thursday, Feb 15th

I received this book from the authors for an honest review.

Oh Carsen!!  Oh Laney!! The 2 of you are so perfect for each other but your letting other people’s expectations of you and life get in the way.

SO Carsen and Laney are happy.  They are in love BUT the are in a limbo state.  Yes, they love each other.  Yes they live together BUT they have stalled.  Everyone else is getting engaged and married so why aren’t they?

Carsen knows he wants to marry Lane which is a crazy thought for him because he knows she can do so much better then him.  He wants to make the engagement the PERFECT engagement because women dream about that right??  The right proposal.  The perfect ring.  The perfect way to start their future.  But now, because Laney doesn’t push Carsen he worries that Lane isn’t looking to him as her future.

Laney is happy with Carsen but she knows marriage isn’t a top priority for him.  But she is feeling distance between the couple and she has no clue what it is.  When Carsen comes right out and asks “Am I the ONE for you?”  Laney and Carsen start to evaluate their relationship.  They know they love each other but why have their stalled?  What is the issue?

I enjoyed seeing our couple again. I enjoyed their inappropriate jokes and inappropriate behavior.  I enjoyed reliving their relationship again because the love they have is so amazing but sometimes you have to STOP and see what is going on in rode to move forward.

Personal note: Jellyfish stings are no flipping joke and I totally felt Laney’s pain plus laughed my arse off in the scene at the beach!!!

Lauren Stewart grew up reading Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, James Clavell, Piers Anthony, and Agatha Christie, which explains why she can’t seem to stick to one genre at a time. She loves emoticons and hates when people speak in the third person, so…

I got to the more romantic stuff pretty late, but paranormal romance was what changed me from an obsessed reader into an obsessed reader AND writer. I think my writing style comes from a mash-up of all my early favorites and my new ones, women like JR Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Nalini Singh, Charlaine Harris, and Janet Evanovich. Wow, how much would you pay to be invited to that dinner party?

I want to make people think, cry, and giggle, not necessarily all at the same time (although it’s great when it happens). In every one of my books, you’ll find elements of other genres – fantasy, mystery, romance, paranormal, suspense, YA, women’s literature, all with a touch of humor.

Because what doesn’t kill us should make us laugh.

What Inspired Me to Write This Book?

This whole series began on a dare—that I wouldn’t be able to write a standalone novel that ended in a happy ending (until then, I’d always written series where one couple takes a few novels to reach their happy ending).

What can I say? Definitely not that I can pass up a challenge because I can’t. And so, I wrote Darker Water.

Darker Water was a twist on The Frog Prince, with the heroine believing she has the metaphorical power to turn good men—princes—into assholes—frogs. Because all the men she’d fallen for had seemed perfect right up until she found out they were total pricks. So what does she need to make her believe in love again? A frog, of course. An asshole who, because of her love, finally shows us that he’s been an amazing man all along.

The fairytale at the beginning of that book (and for the next five books) came to me as soon as I started typing. It just flowed and set up the entire framework for the story. The second part of Laney and Carson’s fairytale, at the end, encapsulates what they’ve learned and where they’re headed.

When I was challenged by readers (remember how I said I can’t say no to a challenge?) to give them more of Carson, I did.

Deeper Water is a continuation of Carson and Laney’s love story, what I call their after happily-ever-after, as well as that of Hayden and Andi, the main characters from Virtually Impossible (Book #2). I’ve always been a firm believer that stories don’t end on the last page of a book, just like our love stories don’t end when we say “I do.” At least I hope they don’t because that would be awful.

So in this book, Carson and Laney run into some hurdles and have to repair a few cracks that occur in all relationships, regardless of how wonderful they are.

Who Will We Meet in This One?

First let me say that it turned out to be a great way to explore relationships at every stage. For instance, Laney’s parents who’ve been married for almost thirty years are in this book. Hillary and Eric, Laney’s ex-roommate and her boyfriend have been together for more than a few years. Emilia, Andi’s married bestie/boss and her husband have been married for a few. And Carson’s mother, Renee? Well, she’s had experience with a lot of different phases with a lot of different husbands. Ha.

As for other people we’ll meet or meet again? Carson’s evil stepsister, Anna. Hayden’s ex-wife who I absolutely adore, Clare. And we also get to know Andi’s screwed-up friend Sara whose story will be in Immaterial Defense, the next book in this series.

So it’s a pretty full cast for my shorter-than-normal book. I guess I just can’t say goodbye to any of my characters. Don’t be surprised if one of my paranormal characters appears in this series.

It might be a challenge, but then, you know how I feel about challenges.

Lane pulled me deeper until the water was about waist-high. She slipped her hands around my neck and jumped into my arms. I gratefully caught her under her ass, and she wrapped her legs around me.

“Am I too heavy?”

“Not at all. But if a shark comes along, you know I’m going to drop you and run for it, right?”

“Of course,” she said, smiling. “No problem—I can handle a shark.”

“What if it’s a big shark?”

“Depends who’s measuring.” Laughing, she ground her hips on mine, and my big shark woke right up. “Men always seem to think things are larger than they actually are.”

“You’ve never complained before.”

“I complain all the time, just not about that.”

“I’ve never heard you complain. You must be doing it wrong. Try whining more next time so I know.”

“Like this?” she asked in a high, nasal voice, her nose and upper lip rising and making her look as close to unattractive as possible.

“That’d do it.” I tried kissing her, but with her mouth contorted like that, I got more teeth than lip. Pina Colada-flavored.

She pulled away. “What were you talking to your brother about at the bar earlier?”

“Do you always think about my brother while we’re kissing?”

“Jealous?” she asked. The brat. “Or do you just not want to answer the question?”

“Always, and no. I’d rather make out than talk about Hayden.”

“Then answer quick so we can get back to it.”

I sighed. “Fine.” I spoke faster than an auctioneer on speed. “He planned a surprise wedding gift for Andi back home. I’m helping him with it.” Done speaking, I leaned in for my prize.

“Really?” Pulling away, she did that girlie inhalation that lifted her breasts up beautifully, as well as her brow and the corners of her mouth. Like she was the world’s most perfect marionette or something. “How romantic! What is it?”

I shook my head. “If I tell you, it won’t be a surprise.” I would’ve zipped my lips if my hands weren’t happy where they were—cupping her ass so nicely. Good thing the water was deep enough to cover us or the thirteen-year-old kid staring at us from shore would’ve gotten quite a show.

“The surprise is for Andi, not me. So spill.”

As much as I liked to tease her, she’d find out eventually. “Promise you won’t say anything.”

“I promise.”

“Promise me that if you break said promise, you will let me do every deviant thing I can imagine to you while saying, ‘Please, sir, may I have some more?’ Complete with the English accent.”

She stared at me for a minute, stunned or maybe trying to figure out what deviant thing I could be referring to that we hadn’t already tried.

“Promise,” she said finally, in an English accent.

“That’s my girl.” I kind of hoped she told someone.

Short Book Quotes

Fairytale Beginning:

Once upon a time, there was a frog who, with great care, held the heart of the most beautiful woman in his entire world.

Fairytale Ending:

For this couple, as with all others who are destined to be, “happily ever after” means they will never give up… on themselves or on each other.

Laney:

It was as if we were both experiencing the same thing, feeling the same emotional component.

Oh, who am I kidding? He probably wasn’t thinking anything at the moment. Or, best case it was something like, “Ahhh…oooh…goooood.”

Carson:

I need to know—yes or no.” He swallowed. “Do you believe we have a future together?”

“Yes,” I said without thinking. “I can’t imagine my life without you. But we still have a lot of stuff to work on before—”

“Sorry,” he said, his smile stopping my heart for a second. “I quit listening after you said yes. We’ll deal with the rest of it later.”

“Well,” she said, still waving to her parents, who’d just gotten caught by the crowd. “My father might still be under the impression I’m a virgin, and the man I’m with respects my decision.”

I swallowed my laugh. She wasn’t kidding. “Oh, I respect your decisions, babe. Completely. For instance, I respected your decision to ride me like a cowgirl the other night. And I had all kinds of respect for you when you dragged me into that restaurant bathroom a couple weeks ago because you needed to fuck right then and there. And that thing you did with your tongue the other—”

“Get dressed.” She pulled away from me and tossed me a t-shirt. “I promised them we’d be there.”

“And I promised myself we’d use all these condoms before going home. I allocated a certain number for each day, and we can’t fall behind.” I shrugged. “One of us is going to have to break their promise, Lane. Guess what my priority is.”

Goodreads

I received this book from the authors for an honest review.

This is the 2nd story of the series.  I loved the first book so when Victoria asked if I wanted an ARC of this book, I jumped!!!

This is the story of Domnall and Davina…the story goes from when they were 10-year olds through adulthood.

Domnall was the son of 2 kings and the rightful heir to the throne.  His grandfather, The current King, annulled his parent’s marriage which leaves him untitled annnnnnd viewed as a BASTARD!!  Gasp!  He has made it his life long goal to avenge his rightful lands.  Along the way to his father, he finds a slaughtered family who’s only remaining member is a young girl.

Davina is  the daughter of a knight.  Her entire family was murdered, and she was saved by Domnall.  She finds herself living as a ward of the King but because she does have lands, the king can decide who she is to marry when she is old enough.

Domnall and Davina have some lessons to learn about trust, the court and family.  Their love story is so very enthralling.  There is mystery and deceit along the way for the couple

#WOTR18 #AuthorSpotlight – Attending Author Britni Hill @thatbritnihill

Britni Hill

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Britni Hill
When I’m not writing, I’m a hair stylist. I love coffee, wine, and twizzlers. I have a fascination with cheesy, teenage dramas. Horror movies are the best movies. I’ve lived in Indiana my whole life. I have a rescue pup that means the world to me.

When and Why did you start to write?

I started writing as soon as I learned how. I’ve always had stories in my head that I just needed to let out. I write because I have to. It’s part of my life. I can’t imagine ever not having characters in my head.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

JR Ward. Jennifer Armentrout. Penny Reid. Gena Showalter. Richelle Mead. There are just too many to name.

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

I have no process. It’s random. And every book–every character is different. I’m totally okay with that. It’s actually turned into a type of therapy for me.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on the 5th book in my Western Palm Series, Hitched. It’s the last one!

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

I like to pretend I’m a plotter. I’m totally a pantser though. I usually do a rough outline but my characters lead me around.

Richard Sisk has never been much of a risk taker. At 18 he gave up his dreams for the future to do the right thing and marry his pregnant high school love.
Over the years things change, and he receives a divorce as a birthday present.

Jill Caldwell has spent the last eight years caring for her younger brother being both sister and parent. Now that he is settled well into college, she finally has the gift of freedom.
Years ago, their lives crossed paths and now eight years later, will Richard be able to take a risk for a new love?’
Jill knows that together she and Richard can build a life of everything they ever wanted, that is if he can get over being her silver fox.

I received this book from the authors for an honest review.

SO yeah, the cover made me say YES PLEASE when I was offered a copy of this book.  Then of course who doesn’t like to read the occasional old man/younger woman story???  But mainly the cover is what drew me in.  #CoverWhore

I liked the story of the rich older man finding love with a younger woman after a disastrous first marriage.  Yes, it may seem taboo he is 40 and she is 26 but people they are adults.   I liked the story a lot, but the ending needed a bit more IMO. It seemed like all of a sudden, the author was just DONE and wrapped it up super-fast.

So Richard is a man who is not looking for love.  He is divorcing his wife/high school girlfriend after years of not making this marriage work.  Jillian has lost her parents at a very young age and so she took on the job of raising her brother.  SO Jillian maybe 26 but feels 40 as well.  She has done her best with her brother and now is looking for a life of her own.

When Jill saves Richard from a chick at a bar they both are interested in the other and soon the relationship begins.  They build a friendship and then finally start dating which in turns to love.  The story is sweet, and I enjoyed but I wish there had been a better flow at the end.  This was my first book by this author, but I would read another again for sure.

Misha Elliott is an old movie watching, wine drinking, rod-wheedling, book-lover. Once a northerner she now calls the Lone Star state her home. When she isn’t writing, you will find her talking about books with friends or one the water with a fishing pole in hand.
