#WOTR18 #AuthorSpotlight – Attending Author Anna Hague @AnnaHagueAuthor

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Anna Hague, I live in central Indiana with my husband, three parrots and a dog. We are both sports nuts and especially love IndyCar racing. In my other career, I am a freelance sportswriter. I love that too, and doubt I’ll ever totally give that up. Too many cool perks. (And hot race car drivers). My husband and I don’t have children of our own, but we’ve had 11 foreign exchange students and have been lucky enough to travel to visit several of them in their home countries.

When and Why did you start to write?

I’ve written stories all of my life, but didn’t try to make a serious attempt at publishing until 2015. I decided it’s now or never and put myself out there. I’m so glad I did.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

Wow I read so many different authors, but some of my go to’s are Kat Martin, Carl Hiaasen, Aleatha Romig, Tamsen Parker, Christina McKnight and Janet Evanovich

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

Some days you are so on it and the words just fall into place, and other days (which might even be the next day) it seems like you are trying to write in another language. Pleasure and pain.

What are you working on now?

I am working on a BDSM romance series. It is a three-book series with a publisher, so I don’t have a release date as yet, but Book one hopefully will be out by WOTR18. Also, I will have a romantic suspense titled Risk, Reward or Ruin out in July 2018

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

Total punster. I’m relaxed in chaos and freaked out by organization

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

As I read this book I Kept picturing the TV show Vikings because of the characters names and the whole Valhalla, Norsemen plus the raids…YES I Love it.

This book is about two broken and incomplete souls.  Bjorn is lost without his wife and children.  Gwened is lost because her Hugo, he betrothed, was killed in a Viking battle.

Gwened is forced in to a loveless marriage with Hugo’s younger brother and is basically just passing the time by.  When she hears of the Viking raids she runs to her sister, she is book 2 of the series, to see if she can help aid them.  She is stunned to hear her sister is married to one of the Vikings and WILLINGLY none the less!!  GASP right!!

Gwened and Bjorns have a soft truce and begin to respect one another.  When a night of passion soon turns into confusion, they are both left lost and lonely once again.

I loved the story but thought it might have been a little bit rushed toward the end of the story.  I would have liked to see more interaction between Bjorn nd Gwened’s husband over what would become of the lands.  But otherwise I loved the book and can’t wait for more!!

Victoria Vane is a bestselling award-winning author of smart and sexy romance. Her books have received many accolades to include the 2016 Red Carpet Award for Jewel of the East, 2014 RONE Award for Treacherous Temptations as well as Library Journal Best E-Book romance of 2012 for The Devil DeVere series. Victoria also writes romantic historical fiction as Emery Lee. Look for her new Highland saga coming summer of 2017.

#NewRelease #BDSM #excerpt – Re/Captured, Doms of the FBI book 7 by Michele Zurlo

Keith and Katrina are back! Reader favorites Keith Rossetti and Katrina Legato from Re/Paired (Doms of the FBI 2) return for another emotional, sexy, and dangerous adventure.

When a day helping out at Legal Aid puts Katrina in the crosshairs of a serial killer bent on sending his version of romantic gifts, life starts to spiral out of control. Not only is she trying to plan her wedding, but work and home life are increasingly hectic.
Keith has doubts about Kat and the reasons she keeps postponing the wedding, so he sets out to recapture her heart. Meanwhile, the serial killer’s obsession with Katrina only grows—threatening her entire family.
Sacrifices must be made, but can love help them survive the fallout?
Warnings: BDSM, anal sex, D/s

Understanding Keith’s message—he’d wanted to put her mind at ease with regard to the children so that she could focus on submitting to him—she lowered her gaze. “Can I have ten minutes to put my bag away and freshen up?”
“Yes. I set out what I want you to wear.” His voice washed through her senses, overpowering her with peace and excitement.
“Thank you.” Briefcase in hand, she turned to follow his instructions.
“Kitty Kat.”
The unspoken order halted her. She turned back to him. “Yes?”
“I want a kiss.”
Closing the distance she lifted her face. He caressed her cheek with one hand and wrapped the other around her waist to support her lower back, two points of contact only. His lips brushed hers, teasing at a third point. He massaged, a gentle pressure welcoming her home and to her role as his submissive.
Slave to his mastery, she sighed into it, dropping her briefcase and lifting her arms to twine them around his neck, and she pressed her chest to his. He deepened the kiss, plunging his tongue deep to taste and stab. The hand on her cheek slid into her hair, and the one on her back lowered to squeeze her ass. She forgot about everything. The stresses of her day fell away as she melted in the face of his demand.
He broke away to trail sucking kisses down her neck, stopping when the collar of her dress shirt got in his way. “Go,” he said. “Take your ten minutes, and then you’re mine.”

Love and Famiglia

The DiDominzio Novellas

by Lyssa Layne

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Date of Publication: 3/13/2017

ASIN: B06VVKY7DV

Number of pages: 400

Word Count: 157,013

Cover Artist: Amanda Walker

Meet the DiDominzio family—fiery, loud, Italian. Francesca, Antonia, Gianna, and Carmine were raised by their strict, old school Italian father. Each sibling has their own journey but how they find their happily ever after definitely isn’t easy.

The King and the Pawn – Francesca, the baby of the family, wants nothing more than to fulfill her dream of being a fashion designer. Unfortunately, Papa DiDominzio will stop at nothing to squash her dreams and lead her toward the traditional career of the women in their family. Francesca concocts the perfect plan to bring home a man her father will hate in hopes that he’ll make a deal so she can still reach her dreams.

Not in Love – Antonia, the sexy second to youngest DiDominzio, exudes nothing but sex appeal, especially with her non-traditional blue eyes. After dating one man after another, Antonia thinks she’s finally found the man of her dreams until she realizes the one she really wants has been right in front of her since they were children.

One Day as a Lion – Gianna, the eldest DiDominzio sibling, is the only one that has followed Papa’s wishes by marrying an Italian man and working in his restaurant. While her brother and sisters suspect something isn’t right with her marriage, none of them can prove any differently. However, there is one man that will do everything in his power to save Gianna from the man she calls her husband.

Destined For You – The only male sibling, Carmine is more like a second father to his sisters than their brother. There’s only two things that are important to Carmine-his family and his club. Keeping up with his sisters and running his successful business leaves him no time to find a mate. As luck would have it, fate falls into his lap, changing his world, in more ways than one… and not necessarily for the best.

Destined for You book 4 of the Novellas

Destined book 4 , Love & Famiglia: The DiDominzio Novellas by Lyssa Layne

I purchased this book.

Carmine you sweet talker!!  Natalia you sweet innocent girl!!

Lyssa told me she thought Carmine would steal my heart and I gotta agree.  I sure did enjoy seeing the playboy fall in love with the sweet innocent girl in Natalie.

The couple meet and are instantly attracted to each other however, Natalia is pulling away but why I mean Carmine is THE BACHELOR and he wants to see you.

Carmine can’t believe this young woman has him is such a fit of agony, but he just needs to be with he rand get to know her more.

The couple get to spend time together when we learn some family secrets on both sides that cause our H/h to split up.  I was loving the surprise twist that we were given as to why they can’t be together.

I loved the epilogue, but my heart was super happy to see that Frankie and Guy get another book all about their wedding!!  YIPPEE!!!!

Lyssa Layne is first, and foremost, the proud momma to her precious daughter, AR. In addition to working full-time and being a mommy to AR, she is also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a runner, blogger, and an infertility survivor.

Having watched one too many medical dramas and being inspired by author Rachelle Ayala, who introduced her to the world of indie writing, Lyssa decided to try her hand at writing a romance story.

Her attempt turned into the Burning Lovesick series. You can find Lyssa’s own interests throughout her stories although all stories are fictional.

#WOTR18 #UglyCry #BlogTour #SecondChance #Romance #ContemporaryRomance #KU – Don’t Be Afraid by CA Harms @Charms0814

Don't Be Afraid

Have you ever looked at someone and just knew,
knew that they were put in your life for a reason?
The one person that would be not only your best friend,
but would be your absolute everything?
That’s how I felt the first time I saw him.

That one day when a few little words changed our entire lives forever…

Don’t be Afraid, he said.
Life can change so quickly.
One moment you can be smiling and feeling as if you’re walking on clouds and the next, everything you love, everything you treasure crumbles at your feet.

I told him to fight, I told him I needed him.
We needed him.
But there are just some fights that can’t be won…

He was my angel then, and he’s still my angel now.
In a way, I believe he’s still looking out for us, giving us a future.
Sometimes it’s as if I can still feel his presence,
guiding us and keeping us safe.

So, I won’t be Afraid.
I’ll live. I’ll fight.
It’s what he would have wanted.

I’ll do it for him…

Don’t Be Afraid by CA Harms

I receive this book from the author for an honest review.

I don’t know if I will be able to get through this review without stopping to blow my nose or wipe the streams of flowing tears from my eyes.  Sweet Baby Jesus I am completely destroyed in the most beautiful of ways.

This book is such a simple idea but CA writes it with such depth of emotion if you don’t cry you must be a heartless person!  LOL  The story is all about love.  Pure and simple love.  The love of a man and wife.  The love of 2 brothers willing to do for each other and their family.  The story is about what happens when one person loses the love of their life or the person they consider to be their brother.  How do the remaining two continue on without their missing link plus what happens when feelings begin to develop between the remaining people?

Sawyer has had a sad life and when she meets Pat everything clicks for her.  She seems to have a golden life with the man of her dreams.  When Cancer tears her happily ever after apart she learns to lean on Gage.  Gage and Pat have grown up together and are brothers.  When Pat asks Gage to watch out for his family. Gage does it because his feels Sawyer is his family too.

The story has me sobbing through most of the beginning of the book.  Chapters 14 and 21 had me a hot mess so be warned!!  But as the middle to end of the story is being told we are facing life without our Rock Pat but also looking to Gage for MORE.  The end of the book throws a few amazing scenes that made my dried eyes begin to leak full force again.

The emotion and depth of story totally knocked me for a loop.  I was stunned at how well CA Captured the emotion of each character in the story.  The anger Pat felt.  The sadness Sawyer felt, and the guilt Gage felt.   Such a raw and emotionally gritty story this book is intense so be ready with the tissue.  Be ready to have some Tylenol to help with the raging headache you will have from the snot sobbing tears you will be shedding!!

C.A. Harms is a lover of HEA stories, mixed with a little heat and drama make it perfect. She needs some excitement, some angst, and moments that make her fan her face are always good too. She’s an Illinois girl, born and raised. Simple and true, it honestly doesn’t take much to make her happy. She loves the little things; they truly mean the most. She may have a slight addiction to her Keurig—oh my, that thing is a godsend. And so fast too. She is the mother of two children who truly are her very best friends, and their faces never fail to put a smile on her face. She has been married to her husband for eighteen years, and looks forward to many more. Even after all these years he is still able to make her heart skip a beat.
She is one of those authors that adores her fans and loves to hear from them. After all, it is because of each one of you that she continues to write.
Be sure to follow her to stay up-to-date on all her upcoming releases and news.

Day as the Lion Book 3 of the Novellas

One Day as a Lion Book 3 , Love & Famiglia: The DiDominzio Novellas by Lyssa Layne

I purchased this book.

I am so clapping right now.  I was super excited to see Gia get a book.  The eldest sister needed an HEA and I am thrilled with how she got one.

We have seen Gia and Vinnie in the other books and we have not been fans of his and now we get the full truth of their marriage.  Vinnie is a DICK!  Gia is the good girl.  The girl who followed her father’s rules and married an Italian man.  She is the dutiful daughter and wife who is miserable in her life.

When we see Luca and Gia meet my heart was so conflicted for her because divorce isn’t an option for her not that Vinnie would ever leave his punching bag.  Seeing Luca and Gia form this undeniable bond was amazing.  Seeing the ends of the Earth Luca goes to help save Gia is even better.

I am not getting into a lot of the plot because I think it would be a big spoiler if I said Gia *spoiler* and then Vinnie *Spoiler*…so yeah you wanna know how the broken eldest was glues back together??  Then read the story!!!

#NewCover – Darker Water by Lauren Stewart

Title:      Darker Water

Series:   Once and Forever #1

Author: Lauren Stewart

Genre:   Contemporary Romance/New Adult

Release Date: Oct 3, 2014

Word Count: 94,000

After another painful breakup, Laney finally understands that love is a fairytale and sex rarely comes with a happy ending. She’s too busy for it right now anyway—she has a business to run, art to create, and candy to crush. Eventually she’ll be ready to switch from a plastic-or-silicon lover to a flesh-and-blood one. But before that happens, she needs to be sure she won’t feel any of those annoying emotions that make her heart do things it wasn’t meant to do…

Like break

Carson is completely upfront about what he wants, and it has nothing to do with Laney’s heart. Her lips? Hell yeah. Other parts of her body? You better f*cking believe it. But her heart? Nope, not even a little. Until it does…a lot. But having feelings for someone isn’t allowed. It’s the kind of thing you’re supposed to push down deep and cover up with one-night stands, sarcasm, and booze…

 Like secrets

Two people want the same thing—a commitment to nothing more than great sex in a bunch of different positions. Simple. Enjoyable. A win-win. Problem is, those two people have families and fears and pain that spill into every moment of their lives, control what they do and who they are. And if either Carson or Laney can’t free themselves from the past, they’ll both be pulled under by it.

*** Darker Water is a stand-alone contemporary romance that does not end in a cliffhanger.

Lauren Stewart lives in Northern California with one teenager, one almost-teenager, a mellow cat, and an incredibly high maintenance puppy.  On the nights when Lauren doesn’t pass out from exhaustion, she reads almost every genre so, naturally, her writing reflects that. With every book, every story, you’ll find elements of other genres–fantasy, mystery, romance, paranormal, suspense, YA, women’s literature, all with a touch of humor.

Because what doesn’t kill us should make us laugh.

What Inspired This Book?

It began on a dare—that I wouldn’t be able to write a standalone novel that ended in a happy ending (until then, I’d always written series where one couple takes a few novels to reach their happy ending).

Darker Water is a twist on The Frog Prince, with the heroine believing she has the metaphorical power to turn good men—princes—into assholes—frogs. Because all the men she’d fallen for had seemed perfect right up until she found out they were total pricks. So what does she need to make her believe in love again? A frog, of course. An asshole who, because of her love, finally shows us that he’s been an amazing man all along.

The fairytale at the beginning of the book came to me as soon as I started typing. It was incredible and set up the entire framework for the story. The second part of Laney and Carson’s fairytale, at the end, encapsulates what they’ve learned and where they’re headed.

I took one of the comfy chairs in the corner, put my coffee and my feet up on the large ottoman in front of me, and opened the Angry Birds app on my phone. About fifteen minutes later, I saw jean-clad legs in my peripheral vision. His shoes were pointed towards me, but he didn’t say anything.

“Listen, I’m sure you’re a wonderful person, but I need to focus.” I pointed to my phone without raising my head. “Or I’m going to break my winning streak.”

“I’m not sure if you know this”—the legs moved a step closer—“but when you win, you don’t actually get any candy. Yeah,” he grumbled. “The day I found that out was one of the worst days of my life.”

I wiped my mouth to cover my smile—he’d probably take it as a sign I wanted to keep talking to him. “As much as I appreciate the tip, I’m not interested.”

“Me neither. Wait, what aren’t we interested in again? Oh, did you mean you and me…being interesting together? Then yeah, actually, I am interested in that.”

I looked up at him briefly. Well, no one could ever mistake him for average looking, that was for sure. Full lips that looked very comfortable wearing a smirk. The tattoos covering most of both forearms would’ve made my mom shake her head and say something witty like, Maybe his parents didn’t give him enough coloring books when he was little. Light-brown hair tossed in a hot, I-have-more-important-things-to-take-care-of-than-my-hair way. One of those more important things might be his body. If I wasn’t completely cured of men, I’d thank him for making it a priority. Not that I didn’t find men attractive anymore—I couldn’t control that. And sure, I’d love to take a few more looks at the guy. But that wouldn’t bring me anything but frustration. And frustration didn’t bring me anything but the need for more batteries.

Three months ago, I would’ve been blushing, stuttering, making a fool of myself, and planning our wedding. Now I had more important things to take care of, like my sanity. And some very unhappy birds.

So I slumped into the chair and went back to my game. “Trust me, you don’t want me to get to know you, not if you like who you are right now. I’m cursed. I could turn you into a frog with barely any effort at all. Go find someone else to pretend to be in love with. I wish you luck.”

He picked up my coffee from the ottoman and sat down. “Congratulations. You’ve just made yourself twice as intriguing. You have to know that all men enjoy a good chase every once in a while.”

“I’m not running—I’m telling you to run. Go hunt down someone else.”

“I’m Carson.”

“Okay, go hunt down someone else, Carson.”

“Maybe three times as intriguing.” After a second, he stood. “Nice to meet you, Lane.”

“It’s Laney, but how did you—?”

He glanced down at my coffee cup, which he was still holding. My name was written in big letters on the side, the ‘Y’ an illegible scribble. I should’ve gone the more environmentally friendly route and skipped the paper cup. But not a big deal. All he knew was most of my name and my drink order. Thankfully they didn’t write my phone number on there, too. Not that he would remember it three minutes from now, because frankly, I’m not worth that much of his effort.

He handed my coffee back but didn’t go away, seemingly content to keep staring at me with a cocky grin. Okay, he was really far from average looking. But guaranteed, he was as much a liar as they all are. Maybe worse because the more attractive a guy is, the more he thinks he can get away with. I take that back—the more he can get away with. Because women are idiots.

“Let me guess,” I said. “You’re different from every other guy, searching for the one woman who will complete you. You’re considerate, caring, and really want a chance to know who I truly am.”

“Not at all,” he said, ticking the points off with his fingers and grimacing. “Definitely not. Dear god no. That’s not even close to what I want from you. And…was that all of them? I got distracted by your breasts for a little while there, so I may have missed one.”

I coughed, covering my mouth before I spit my coffee out. “Seriously?” In the last few months I’d had a lot of similar conversations with moderately similar guys. But not a single one had an answer even remotely like that.

“Seriously. I’m a complete asshole who only cares about what he can get from someone. Take you, for example. I saw you sitting here alone, no ring, great body. And thought, ‘I want to fuck her.’ And yeah, those were the exact words that went through my head. On the way over here I tried to figure out the fastest and most efficient way to get you into my bed—which isn’t far from here by the way—hoping you weren’t the type who needed a couple dinners out first. So, Lane”—he popped an eyebrow—“are you?”

I didn’t know how to respond. Was I? I used to be. Except it had taken more than a couple dinners before I slept with someone. It had taken a commitment of some kind. And now? Even though I was done with relationships and love, I didn’t want to be celibate for the rest of my life. I wasn’t sure I was ready, but there was only one way to find out. And, as far as guinea pigs went, I couldn’t have found a more attractive one. So…

Fuck it. For some unknown reason, I’d shaved my legs this morning. Maybe it was a sign from the universe that today was the day to do some experimenting.

Oh my god, I can’t believe I’m about to do this. I stood, grabbed my bag, and pushed past him on my way to the door. Then I turned around. “I think that was an exceptionally efficient way to get me into your bed.”

Short Quotes

Fairytale Ending

Once upon a time, there was a woman who, though not stunningly beautiful, thought herself to be. Because she was in love with a man who made her feel that way.

Laney

How fucking ironic—I’d been looking for love for the last eight years. And when I finally stopped wanting and believing in it, it found me. I didn’t have feelings for Carson—I was in love with him.

’You have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince.’ My mother’s favorite expression was completely fucking wrong. If you kiss a lot of frogs, all you end up with is sore lips and a bunch of frogs. And if you kiss a lot of princes, hoping at least one of them will stay that way, all you get is a horrific amount of disappointment and even more frogs

I didn’t have feelings for Carson—I was in love with him. And what’s worse than falling in love when you don’t want to? Falling in love with someone who can’t love you back.

Carson

“If it could be anyone,” he whispered, “it would be you.”

“Life’s too fucking short to spend any of it embarrassed or guilty. If you’re going to learn how to put yourself first, you can’t keep being controlled by what other people do.”

“Seriously. I’m a complete asshole who only cares about what he can get from someone. Take you, for example. I saw you sitting here alone, no ring, great body. And thought, ‘I want to fuck her.’ And yeah, those were the exact words that went through my head. On the way over here I tried to figure out the fastest and most efficient way to get you into my bed—which isn’t far from here, by the way—hoping you weren’t the type who needed a couple dinners out first. So, Lane”—he popped an eyebrow—“are you?”

#NewRelease #Review – Sweet Little Lies (Book 5 the Sweetest Thing Series) by Sierra Hill

Sweet Little Lies (The Sweetest Thing, #5)

Lance:
Some lies are meant to deceive. Others to protect.
My lies have done nothing but harm. They push people away. Even the people that I want to hold onto for dear life. Mica Reyes is too beautiful and pure for my tarnished soul, although I want her with a fierceness of a caged lion.
They say letting go of your grief and your sins will unburden you and set you free. But it’s her I need to set free from the pain I’ll cause from loving her too much.

Mica:
My Abuelita always said I should never give my heart away unless I knew it would be in capable hands. To give it to a man who would love and cherish me and put me first above all others.
But my heart didn’t listen. I fell for Lance Britton, the college basketball player who uses humor to outwardly disguise the emotional turmoil that lives inside him. To hide his painful secrets.
But I know him. And although I hate ultimatums, I may need to give him one before the lies between us grow any deeper. Letting go may be the only way to reach him.

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Ahh Sierra What a great addition to the series!!

I loved loved loved Micalea and her story.  She is not the typical heroine for a story and I think I liked that a whole lot.  She is a Mexican immigrant whose family is a typical tight knit family. They love hard and work hard but always have each other’s back.  They also are very traditional and want to have her married off where she wants to go to college.

Lance on the other hand is a total hottie, college basketball player who is a player on and off the court.  However, he has eyes for Mica.  She is not having it because she KNOWS the challenges that will face the couple.  While everyone thinks Lance has it all, they don’t see he is a hot mess on the inside.

Mica was just so stinking sweet and her whole “Love is love “attitude is what made my smile.  If only others could feel that way too right.  Lance was so adorable with is pursuits of Mica.    Mica soon realized that Lance is a good guy but they both have to spend a lot of time defending their relationship.  There are many trials and tribulations they must face to end up together.

Sierra Hill wrote her first full-length romance after a corporate acquisition led her to a stint of unemployment, offering her some quality writing time.

She loves writing about the fictional characters that live in her brain who constantly shout for their own love story to be told.

Sierra resides in the Pacific Northwest with her husband of twenty years and her long-haired, German Shepherd. She is currently working on her next book.

Thanks for reading and reviewing her books. Keep the passion alive!
