Blackout

synopsis

Max. The consummate ladies’ man.

He’s good looking, but not an absolute knockout. With Max’s charm though, he could have any woman he wants. Once he meets Faith, he doesn’t want anyone else.

Eli. He is a knockout.

But a dark past shadows him and holds him captive. Drinking dulls the pain, but meeting Faith makes him want to change all that.

Faith. She loves them both.

When a blackout brings her together with Eli, she’s happier than she’s ever been before. When another blackout tears them apart, Max is there to pick up the pieces. But can she forget the man who first made her whole?

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
This book!! The triangle ….2 men and 1 woman……Faith and Eli….the relationship is amazing but Eli and his addictions ruined it. I mean how long can you hold on to someone who can’t help themselves???
Max….he has loved Faith for as long as he can remember. She is Eli’s so he stays away. He is the carefree never going to settle down guy. He is drinking and having a different woman every night. He has given up on having the one woman he wants but when he finds out Faith is no longer with Eli….he has hope. The two form a loving relationship. No its not the same kind she has with her first love but first love is always harder to get over. First love always burns brighter and with more passions but that doesn’t mean that the first love is the better love to keep once it has returned.
This book is a but rough at times. The alcoholism was not at all glossed over. Faith and her enabling ways was not glossed over. The abuse and all that comes with addiction are hit head on. If these are touchy subjects areas for you, I think you may want to really consider if this is a book for you or if you should pass.
 about the author
I was born in Overland Park, KS, in the heart of Tornado Alley, and my life has been a bit twisted since. Actually, it’s not all that twisted, but I’ve always wanted to use that line. I grew up in St. Louis, MO, went to school at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and moved to Bloomington, IL, fresh out of college, after my husband got a job at State Farm’s corporate headquarters. I’ve worked as a high school/junior college teacher, personnel recruiter, office manager of a jewelry store, and, for the past ten years, as a lunch lady. I like to karaoke and attend rock concerts. I am actively involved at church and spend too much time on Facebook. I am the mother of a eighteen-year-old, and sixteen-year-old triplets, and have been married to my husband, Don, for over twenty-four years.
I have been a writer all my life. My first book, which was co-written with Mary Ellen Murphey in second grade, was titled The Black Cat, and was written on blue hotel stationary, hole-punched, and bound by white yarn. I believe it is currently out of circulation.
When I turned forty, I had an epiphany of sorts. I realized those bigwig publishing houses in New York were now probably run by people younger than me, so I shouldn’t be intimidated by them. At about the same time I was watching one of those award shows, and Jaclyn Smith got up to give a post-humorous award to Aaron Spelling. She credited him for encouraging her to go into acting, saying something brilliant like, “Reach for your dreams.” Nothing new. Almost even seems a little Jiminy Cricketish. But, for some reason, it struck me that night. When Aaron Spelling was thirteen, he was probably just like any other acned thirteen-year-old. But he worked to achieve his dreams, and became a household name. So, I began to write. Once I finished my first book, I wasn’t able to stop. I would rather write than do just about anything else. After all, you get to make people (characters) do what you want and design your own happy endings. What power! What a privilege.

Twinsie for the DayReview by: Becky

What struck me most with The Second Wife is how life can be flipped upside down in a flash. Alisha was abducted by Sayeed, a rich, powerful tyrant. She was broken down, abused and raped. She was married to David and although they had previously had marital issues, they had resolved them and were very happy. Sayeed married Alisha, without her consent or knowledge. She became his second wife.  This story shows how Alisha(now renamed Sara) compartmentailzes her life and functions only to survive. She pushes her memories of David and her Philadelphia life back into the corners of her memory bank.
Alisha is gone for over two years before David  is contacted by someone and that has knowledge of Alisha’s new life. Typical of the evil doings of Sayeed, this “friend” has been forced to do his bidding in order to provide his dying wife the medical treatment to give her as much quality of life as is possible. David tried to move on but could not let go of his memories of Alisha.wishing.wondering.……   Sayeed keeps David under surveillance and provides Alisha with pictures to continue to torment her.
The situation forces David to do what anyone else would do….(with the availability of money)….he enlists the assistance of a mercenary who has a connection and desire to see Sayeed fall.  Pai did a fantastic job making you hate Sayeed and his actions while cheering for the separated couple. Knowing that this type of treatment and environment happens every day to women and children is sad.  Her writing reflects how the broken has to survive horrific events.

Although the ending is as you would expect….for David and Alisha…..the mercenary, Eddie, seems to flash back in the end…..  is this the beginning of a new story? Hmmmmmmmmmm

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

AHHHH  Lady Natalie made me crazy mad in the first book of this duet.  Like I totally hated her and called her a “Lady of unsavory morals”….yeah I know really harsh right but it’s so true!!  But then we SEE her side of the story and I kinda feel bad for her.  I mean she is a hot mess of insecurity and loneliness.  Her one friend, Pippa, she feels had betrayed her so she in turn hurts her.  Mature no buuuut she was hurt that the one person she thought would have her back pushed the biggest knife in her back.

Natalie has loved Knightly for as long as she can imagine. She is going to win his affection no matter what.  She is stunned to be told she must marry Lord Maddox.  She has no clue who he is and begs to have her love considered……unfortunately because he is a man whore, her dad says no way!!  This whole book is Natalie trying and hoping to get a least one kiss from her true love.

Lord Knightly looks at Natalie as a little annoying sister for his best drinking buddy.    When a game played forces a kiss out of him to her, he begins to see this child as the woman she has become.  When he realizes he is not happy to hear of her being married to another he wonders what is happening to him.  He likes his life and woman simple but Natalie is far from simple!!!

Mr. President by Kathy Evans

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Charlotte grew up surrounded by politics.  She has since decided that its not for her.  She is working with her mother in a woman’s charity.  She wants to give to people.  11 years earlier, while crushing on the son of the President of the USA, she made a promise to campaign for Matt if he ever ran for office.

Matt is 10 years older then Charlotte but he is captivated by her.  He cant stop this growing feeling toward her.  However, his big campaign slogan is that he is single and married to American so that tends to ruin stuff…LOL

Charlotte is stunned that she is still crushing on the much older and much hotter Matthew Hamilton.  She cant believe the chemistry and slow burn that is brought out of them both when they are near.

This book was a great distraction to real life and politics right now.  I think knowing that the author wrote this book with JFK Jr in mind….makes it all that more yummy.  I mean he is and was a hottie that all woman wanted to be near.  Matt is a perfect example of that in the story.  He is the glimmer of hope in the world….sigh…….
