#Review Roots and Wings by M. Mabie

Roots-and-Wings-ecover

synopsis

Welcome to Wynne, population 3,401.

No billionaires. No professional athletes. No celebrities.

In this small town, current events are pondered in mirrors at the local salon or around crowded tables at the diner, and there’s a new couple to gossip about. A rough and tumble woman who works in her dad’s garage, not yet ready to spread her wings, shows the new guy in town what it’s like to finally have roots.

It’s your run-of-the-mill, sexy, Astro van driving dentist meets smart-ass, bass fishing tomboy in a story of real-life romance.

Low on drama. High on love.

Pull up a chair and stay a while.

Melinda's Review
I received a copy of the book from the author for an honest review.

Oh my I absolutely loved this small town feel good story. Low on the drama and no angst if you have read M. Mabie’s Bate series. If you want and easy read that make you laugh and feel good hurry go grab this.

Mutt is a small down home girl. The town is small everyone knows everyone and knows everyone’s business, think along the lines of a Rockwell painting or Mayberry. Mutt lives with her dad and is giving the nickname by her granddad which the entire town calls her by now.  Yes, no one calls her by her real name. Mutt helps run her dads service and tire shop and her favorite pass time is fishing. She was the tomboy, plane Jane type, who never dated anyone in the town that is until the new dentist moved in down the road and caught her eye.

Vaughn the hottie the moved to town to take over as the new dentist had a string of bad luck that led him straight to Mutt. After being in the city and breaking up with his fiancée Mutt and the new town was a breath of fresh air for Vaughn.

This has been one of my favorite reads this year. Watching Mutt and Vaughn get to know each other was so fun. Watching Vaughn try to guess Mutts real name was entertaining. Seeing how he stood up for her in a town that she grew up in and knowing everyone loved her. The best was seeing the hard time Mutt’s dad gave Vaughn. I was giggling so many time especially when her dad found Vaughn in a certain aisle at the store. Priceless just priceless. Then when Mutts dad had one on one chats with her and then with Vaughn were heartwarming. Seeing the friendships unfold between Vaughn and a few guys from town was great too.

Like I said if you want a feel good, lift your spirit, and give you a laugh you need to pick this one up now.

A few of my favorite lines:

“I’m not the kind of girl many guys want to … do remodeling projects with,” I admitted, knowing that it wasn’t cook or smooth, but that he’d understand what I was trying to say. “We don’t have to do any remodeling projects until you want to. Then – when you’re sure – we’ll paint the porch together. We’ll paint the hell out of it.” I like the way he humored me. I liked the way his hand was still on my leg. And I really liked that, instead of kissing me, he just put his forehead against mire. It was sweet. “No projects tonight,” he added. “Just come back.”

“I think kissing you is better each time. I think your eyes look even prettier when I’m this close. I think I could go on, but I’d rather you kiss me goodnight.”
