Crash and Burn (Witness, #6)

Detective Mark Colby is used to being in charge whether it’s on the job, or in the bedroom. He knows the rules and follows them to the letter, that is until she steps into his station.

Detective Antonia Rossi has always had to fight her way to the top. Being the police commissioner’s daughter in a male dominated profession has always come at a price. When she’s assigned as Mark’s new partner, she knows she’s in for a fight. Mark’s reputation for dominance proceeds him, and he makes no effort to hide it.

Can duty override desire, or will it end in a fiery crash of wills? Sometimes the crash is worth the burn.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
YOWZERS!! Mark!! I mean who knew you had this hot, brooding side to ya? Not me that is for sure. When we meet Mark in the series you can see he is “content” with Amber buuuuut let just say things at home weren’t always happy. This couple has been through a lot but they are just at a standstill. Both Mark and Amber know things are not right soooo let’s get married to fix it….epic fail of an idea right.
Toni had always felt she needed to prove herself because she is a good cop but a woman…the dang boys club can be tough at times. She is partnered with Mark and they have this SPARK but because Mark is taken PLUS you can’t date your partner at work, he is off limits.
When Amber and Mark’s circumstances change, there is nothing to stop Mark and Toni from this insane chemistry between the two of them. They both had issues and insecurities from their past life experiences. Mark doesn’t want to change for anyone and neither does Toni. They both love their job on the force but dating means someone had to make changes in their career. Is the relationship they are just starting worth it?? The past does cause some trouble for the couple and stubborn people are made to open their eyes before they lose the one person who truly gets them.
I am shocked to say that Mark MAY have kicked Jase to 3rd place for my affections. Sorry but Mason is firmly secure at the top of list for this series but Mark…..you naught dawg!! Toni is such a strong and sassy female. I loved how she would push Mark and make sure he knew that she was just as much in control as he was.
The epilogue sets us up for Mason’s sister Jenni to have a book. I am excited to read it but can already tell it will be an emotional one with the subject matter of her story!!
