#AudioReview – Ember (Eagle Elite #5) by Rachel Van Dyken

I am a Killer. A Rapist. A Monster.
I know only pain and survival.
That is until the Cappo’s sister walked into my life.
And changed everything.

She’s a light who makes my darkness darker, her smile makes my heart turn to ice, and I can’t escape the fear her seductive looks instill–knowing it’s only a matter of time before I fail–again, and take her for myself.
This is the story of my redemption.
But it’s not pretty…I died, and now I’m alive, but not living, breathing but not surviving. I am Phoenix De Lange, son to a murdered mob boss, estranged brother, horrible friend, monster in the making, newest leader to one of the most powerful families in the Cosa Nostra.
And I will have my vengeance.
Or die trying.
I am Phoenix De Lange.
Death is all I know.
Until she offers me a piece of life–I can’t resist taking.

What the heck. If you asked me when I listed to the past books what I thought of Phoenix I would have said I hate him with every bone in my body there is no hope of him the best thing was him dying. Well Rachel Van Dyken made a liar out of me. This is the best redemption of a character I have ever read. YES, EVER!

Where do I start Phoenix is a cold hearted killer but who isn’t in the Mafia but he is a rapist and has the darkest sole I have seen. Phoenix is assigned to watch over Tex sister, Bee, at Eagle Elite. Yes that is right Phoenix is headed back to one of the places he hates. Let me tell you Bee is giving phoenix a run for his money she truly keeps him on his toes.

My heart Brakes for Bee and for Phoenix when I hear their back stories. Neither was loved by family but was shut out by them. Two lost souls pushed together.

This was my favorite book of the series. If I could give it more than 5 starts I would. Plus I enjoyed listening to the audio I loved that there was more than one narrator. All of them did an excellent job. I am jumping right into Elude. It’s Sergio’s turn and oh boy I feel a huge heart break with tears lots and lots of tears coming to my future.
