I Will Not Beg (Mountain Masters & Dark Haven, #9)

She signed away her freedom…

Starved for affection, young Piper Delaney surrenders her life to a Master. But there is no love—only abuse. She’s told she can’t leave; she signed the slave contract. Years later, beaten and starving, she hears an English Dom say the contract’s illegal. Unenforceable. And she runs.

She reclaims her life and rises above the nightmare that was her past.

But her enslavement left scars. She longs for love, but the only men who truly attract her also terrify her–Dominants. Hoping to conquer her fears, she visits Dark Haven, but the sounds of the club are too much.

When a submissive panics, Sir Ethan steps in.

The powerful English Dom recognizes the shivering submissive in his lap. Years before, he’d corrected her Master’s deceit about a contract. She’s come a long way since then. Cynical at being pursued for his wealth, he finds Piper’s honesty compelling. She’s intelligent, brave…and she needs him. What Dom could resist?

He’s the Dom she’d dreamed about—perceptive, firm, and utterly self-confident.

His voice pulls her from panic attacks. His arms enclose her in safety. He treats her like a person, not something to mistreat. As he helps Piper overcome her fears, she starts to fall in love.

Then her past finds her and destroys…everything.

I received this book from the author.

I fell like its been FOREVER since I have gotten to visit the Dark Haven.  Seeing all these names like Xavier, Stan and even *shivers* DeVeries (Lindsey girl….you are brave to take that one on!!) made my heart so happy.  But meeting and falling for Sir Ethan was such a great ride.

There is so much emotion in this story.  We are dealing with Piper and all the abuse she endures at “He We Shall NOT Title a Master”.  We see the damage she has endured but when she finally breaks her silence and we find out ALL she endured…..sigh…what a spirit to not be broken.  What amazing courage to break free and then face her trauma!!!

Ethan has little knowledge that he helped Piper escape her prison and daily abuse when he meets her years later. He just knows she is a skittish yet tempting women he would like to get to know better.

As the couple work on helping her overcome her fear of the D/s world, we see more feeling develop between the two.  I was so excited when things went “further” because the faith she has in him but the faith he shows I her after all he has lived through in the past with loving a woman.

These two are such complex characters and I loved each of their flaws.  I loved how they both were so reactive and yet reflective later.  They both need the other to complete them and are so scared to admit it.  When they finally realize their love and devotion to the other is when everything comes crashing down.

I absolutely loved the story but kinda wish we got to see Jerry get his ass handed to him just one more time!!  LOL

A New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, she’s renowned for writing heart-wrenching romances with laugh-out-loud dialogue, alpha males, and absolutely sizzling sex.

I met my dearheart when vacationing in the Caribbean. Now I won’t say it was love at first sight. Actually since he stood over me, enjoying the view down my swimsuit top, I might have been a tad peeved—as well as attracted. But although we were together less than two days and lived on opposite sides of the country, love can’t be corralled by time or space.

We’ve now been married for many, many years. (And he still looks down my swimsuit tops.)

Nowadays, I live in the west with this obnoxious, beloved husband and a seventy-pound lap-puppy. I’m a gardener, and I love nurturing small plants until they’re big and healthy and productive…and ripping defenseless weeds out by the roots when I’m angry. I enjoy thunderstorms, collecting eggs from the chickens, and visiting the local brewery for the darkest, maltiest beer on tap. My favorite way to spend an evening is curled up on a couch next to the master of my heart, watching the fire, reading, and…well…if you’re reading my books, you obviously know what else happens in front of fires.
