Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.
My name is Kate Hawthorne and I write steamy, kinky gay romance. I live in Los Angeles, but before it’s WOTR time, I’ll have relocated to Louisville, KY. I’m a big fan of coffee, wine, rootbeer floats, and ghost hunting. I am a prolific reader, and I can never say no to a good enemies-to-lovers story.
When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.
I’ve just recently started making playlists to go along with my WIP’s, so I love to listen to whatever I’ve gotten put together for those, but other than that I need total silence. My husband loves to sit next to me at night and watch car videos on his phone, so I’ve become expert at tuning that out, at least. And lots of water. Gotta stay hydrated for all that emotional lifting.
What are you favorite things about attending signings?
I *love* getting to meet new readers. Even if you haven’t read me or heard of me, I still want to know your name and I want to know what kind of books you love to read. Everyone at signings has at least one thing in common (a love of books), and it’s the best place to meet people.
What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?
I actually *met* her earlier this year. Sierra Simone. Second to her though, JM Darhower.
When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?
I used to, but in addition to writing I have a day job and a toddler, so time is a lot harder to find than it used to be. I try to write at night if I’m not too tired, and I try to set aside time at least two days a week where I can focus on writing for a couple hours at a time.
What is your favorite memory so far as an author?
It’s hard to pick one memory. My first signing was GRL in Portsmouth 2018 so that is always going to hold a very special place in my heart.
Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?
I don’t think I have one book that I favor over all the others…that said, I do have some books that have survived a lot with me and they have the battle scars to prove it, so those mean something special to me. I also collect old (not my) family bibles from estate sales. I have about a dozen of those that go back to the very early 1800’s. They’re important to me because so many of them hold important family history, and even if it’s not MY history, it was important to someone and should be taken care of.
