Lisa Caviness

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Lisa Caviness. Lisa Caviness is an award-winning author or romantic thrillers and suspense novels. She loves dreaming up story ideas where her characters are pushed to their limits during dangerous and blood-tingling adventures. As a lifelong reader of an eclectic pool of books from mystery/thrillers, science fiction, contemporary romance, and the classics, Lisa has never been without a book on the nightstand and a long to be read list. Although she began crafting stories as a child, she also held a deep interest in science. After college, she worked as a registered nurse before starting a career as a clinical project manager in medical research. She has lived in Boston, Massachusetts and now makes her home in Indiana with her husband, kids, and an affectionate black cat.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

When I’m writing I like to have a beverage close by whether it be water, coffee, or tea. If I’m in the zone the noise level doesn’t matter but when I’m struggling then I listening to study concentration music on Youtube or Spotify.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Engaging with readers and talking about books is, of course, my top priority. Whether they are buying my books or not I find it fun and interesting to learn about their perspective on books and what they enjoy reading. I also love meeting other authors. I usually try to make a sweep of the room before the signing starts to introduce myself.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

I’d love to meet Melinda Leigh, Lisa Gardner, Beverly Jenkins, Vince Flynn, Peter Swanson, and Elizabeth Hayes. I find their stories amazing. I can’t choose just one and there are more than I listed here!

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I’d love to have a set schedule but everyday is bit different but I rarely miss a day where I don’t write something.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

The moment I saw my first book in print. It’s a feeling like no other!

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

My copy of A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle is my favorite book. After reading this book, as a young girl, I got the urge to write my own stories for the first time.
