Twinsie Tenise’s top 5 from July- December 2020

It’s that time of year again, where us Twinsie’s go through our reading lists from the past 6 months and find our TOP 5 reads. It’s never an easy process, especially when I’ve read so many amazing books since July but I managed to narrow it down 5. Okay! There are 6 books here buuut I’m counting the duet as 1 since both books have to be read to get the entire story.
So, without further ado, here are my Top 5 reads from July – December 2020…

Power Struggle by: A.D. Ellis

Jamison is good at everything he does and he’s never met a challenge he could resist.
Paul keeps his life in order with a tight grip on power and control.
Due to circumstances beyond their control, Jamison and Paul find themselves forced together and their jobs on the line. Will Paul’s insistence on holding onto all the power be what keeps them apart? Or will their long history and undeniable attraction be enough to shake the grasp Paul has on his control?
**Power Struggle is a steamy M/M, age-gap, forced proximity romance set in a small town. A twenty-year history, rival schools and jobs, and a hotel with only one bed make for a hot and heavy, sweet and sexy, HEA-guaranteed love story.**

Being Us by: JM Walker (The Next a Generation book 4)

She was beautiful.
After hiding away for six months with just my dog to keep me company, I was forced out of the shadows only to end up in the arms of an enemy.
Beatrix Lister saved my life. I had been taking care of myself for so long, I didn’t know how to ask for help, but she refused to go down without a fight.
She was warm where I was frigid.
She was kind and caring where I was a cold-blooded monster.
I did things to survive.
I battled the evils of the world to live.
I didn’t deserve her heart but fell in love with her anyway.
As much as I wanted to be with her, I needed answers and I would do anything to get them.
Even if it meant breaking the heart of the only woman I had ever loved.
He was lonely.
Tanner Horsch came into my life unexpectedly. He was like a tornado, ripping up everything in its path.
There was something about him that I craved.
His touch. His words. His need to survive.
But as we were getting to know each other, he still had walls up.
He refused to let me in knowing my family didn’t approve of him.
I refused to let him go.
After being in the wrong place at the wrong time, he escaped and eventually he ran right into my arms.
He was the villain of someone else’s story, but he was the hero of mine.
I just prayed that he could see that not all monsters are truly evil.
Before it was too late, and he gave himself to the enemy.
My family.

WARNING: Please be advised that there are scenes in this book that mention past child abuse and trauma. If you have triggers, please read with caution.

Take Me Home is a male/male age-gap, opposites-attract romance with plenty of steam and a scene that will make you appreciate camouflage and work boots.

Review by Twinsie Tenise

Power Struggle by: A.D. Ellis

Jamison and Paul are opposites in many ways but early on I had a feeling they may be perfect for each other. Definitely prepare yourself to read this book in one sitting- I couldn’t put it down- I loved these two men so much!

Being Us by: JM Walker (The Next a Generation book 4)

Tanner was a villain when we first met him. Or was he really? All I know is Tanner has redeemed himself in my book and I’ve forgiven him for all his past transgressions. This man is hella fine and so flipping good for Bee. These 2 completely complete each other. Their story was a smoking H-O-T slow burn!!! I loved every agonizingly loooong minute of it. The build up was deliciously slow and when they finally connected, it was FIRE! *fans self* Oh my!

I counted down the days for this release. It was definitely worth the wait. I am loving this Next Generation Series. These “kids” are always up to something and it makes for some amazing page turners, thats for sure!

Take Me Home by: A.D. Ellis

Marcus Kingley works for the family business. He’s content with his life that consists of lots of work and the occasional hookup with random men, for a night of no-strings-attached, meaningless sex.
He begins to question if he’s really been living when the family dr tells him he needs to take some time off. His health is suffering due to his rigorous work schedule. Marcus is told by his grandfather he must take some time off. He’s not exactly happy about this but he has no other choice.

Jordan Moore is a carpenter and farmer in a small town. He loves his small town life and would never dream of living anywhere else. He is resigned to being alone because his business that pays the bills and puts food on the table is way more important than everyone in town knowing his business!

When the men’s lives become intertwined, neither of them are prepared for what happens next.

A.d Ellis has once again wrote an absolutely amazing MM romance. Every couple she writes, I love, and Macus & Jordan were no different. I honestly cannot pick a favorite of these 2. They each had their own little quirks that made me fall in love with them and their story.

Vanishing Act (Survivors Duet book 1) by Heather D’Agostino

I’m going to keep this short and sweet. Too much information will ruin this book for others and I do NOT want to do that.

I was addicted to Vanishing Act from the first word. It was a fascinating page turner that kept my rapt attention until the final word. I NEEDED the next book like YESTERDAY! I seriously cannot wait to see how this story plays out. I’m completely invested and feel like I will finally be able to move on with my life once I get brought up to speed on the lives of the characters at the center of my newest fictional world obsession.

Enduring Act (Survivors Duet book 2)

I want to start by saying if you have not read Vanishing Act- book 1 in the duet- its a MUST before starting this book.

Enduring Act picks up right where book one left off. Vanishing Act left me saying what the… what?!? Then I finished Enduring act over a week ago and my mind is still reeling. The duet was a complete mind cluck! *wink wink*

I don’t want to go into detail about this book because it would ruin the experience for others. But I will say that the storyline is very unique and the twisted tale the author has woven had me enraptured until the very last word. If you love a book that sucks you in and keeps you up well into the night because answers are more important than sleep– then this duet is one you are definitely going to want to read.

Insurgent (Bones book 2) by: Paige P Horne

Book 2 in the bones trilogy came with new surprises. 1 of them being that this is a trilogy. I have no idea why I thought it was a duet. Thats what I get for not paying attention. I was both sad I didn’t get all the answers before the end and happy that there would be another book because I’m not ready for the series to end. Yeah, I know, I’m crazy like that.

Insurgent picks up where Genesis left off. You MUST read Genesis first if you want to understand what is going on.
Bones and Bexley are being held captive. Its been over a month. Bones has FINALLY figured out WHO is holding them and WHY. I just wonder if Bones will be able to save them from the madman before its too late.

I love Bones and Bexley and I really hope they get a happy ending. Since they first met, they have not had an easy- sunshine and roses- relationship. Oh no! Its been full of broken promises, heartache, and lies. One would think there is no coming back from that, but I’m staying optimistic and holding out hope for an HEA. They have been stuck together for over a month. They have had no choice but to face their past. If they make it out of this alive, will they end up together or continue on without one another? Well, I know what I hope happens. No idea if Paige is on the same page though.
