I was given this book for an honest review by the author.

Who loves the Nicki Sosebee series??  THIS GIRL!!  So if you know the series then this little back story is the icing on the cake for the Nicki/Sean love story.

The whole series is in Nicki’s head so to finally SEE what San thought about our girl from way back when…plus to see the beginning of all the relationships blooming made me so excited.  If you haven’t read the story you wont get as much excitement or love from it as I did SO I suggest you grab book 1 and jump in getting to know the gang!!!

#AudioReview – Ryan’s Bed by: Tijan Narrator: Therese Plummer

Ryan's Bed

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should’ve left…

I didn’t.
I didn’t jump out.
I didn’t get embarrassed.
I relaxed.
And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could’ve stayed forever, I would have.
He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I purchased this Audio.

I enjoy listening Theresa Plummer narrating this story. She does a great job with both male and female voices. I was able to tell which female and which male was talking. She really kept me engaged in the story. Tijan has an amazing way of writing a story that guts you and puts you back together along the way.

Mackenzie finds her twin on the bathroom floor in a pool of her own blood. Her other half is gone and Mackenzie finds herself in a new house, a new town and currently a stranger’s home trying to deal with the biggest loss of her life. She somehow manages to find her way into the wrong room and wrong bed, Ryan’s bed, but to her this bed feels so right.
Mackenzie is trying to deal with the loss of her twin but she hears her and sees her and the only comfort she has is when Ryan is near. She is trying to get through everything day by day and dealing with a new school. I love that she still has spunk and does not back down when mean girls are around.

Ryan is drawn to Mac from the beginning he truly gets what she is going through and helps her the best he can. The chemistry between these two is explosive. Love how understanding, compassionate and loving he is toward Mac.
I like that we were placed in Mac’s head and learned so much about both her and Willow. Mac is strong female although she may not always believe it or fee it she is. I loved her spirit and tenacity. Takes a lot to over come what she did and be able to still standup for herself.

Very well written book for such a hard subject of teen suicide to tackle .

Tijan is a New York Times Bestselling author that writes suspenseful and unpredictable novels. Her characters are strong, intense, and gut-wrenchingly real with a little bit of sass on the side. Tijan began writing later in life and once she started, she was hooked. She’s written multi-bestsellers including the Carter Reed Series, the Fallen Crest Series, and Ryan’s Bed among others. Fake by [Kylie Scott]

He walks the red carpet. She’s more familiar with vacuuming one.

When a scandal tarnishes the reputation of hot as hell A-lister, Patrick Walsh, he needs a reputation rescue, pronto.

Enter waitress Norah Peers–a nobody who’s average with a capital A. She’s available, dependable, and has sworn off men for the rest of her natural born life. In other words: the perfect match for a no-strings fake romance.

For the right amount of money, she can avoid waitressing and play the part of his dependable down-to-earth girlfriend. What she can’t avoid–dammit–is the growing steam between them.

But being hounded by the paparazzi and having your life dissected on social media is a panic attack in the making. And while Patrick might be a charming rogue on screen, in real life he’s a six-foot-two confusing, gorgeous, brooding grump, who keeps her at a distance . . . but also makes her feel like this bond between them might be more than just an act.

Being dumped on cue should be no big deal. Except being fake with Patrick is the realist relationship Norah has ever had. What’s a girl to do, but flip the script, and ask for a rematch made in Hollywood?

Chapter 1

He slunk into the restaurant mid-afternoon wearing his usual scowl. Ignoring the closed sign, he took a booth near the back. No one else was allowed to do this. Just him. Today’s wardrobe consisted of black jeans, Converse, and a button-down shirt. Doubtless designer. And the way those sleeves hugged his biceps . . . why, they should have been ashamed of themselves. I was this close to yelling “get a room.”

Instead, I asked, “The usual?”

Slumped down in the corner of the booth, he tipped his chin in reply. For such a tall guy, he sure went out of his way to try to hide.

I said no more. Words were neither welcomed nor wanted. Which was fine since (A) I was tired and (B) he tipped well for the peace and quiet.

Out back, Vinnie the cook was busy prepping for tonight, his knife making quick work of an onion.

“He’s here,” I said.

A smile split Vinnie’s face. He was a huge fan of the man’s action films. The ones he’d made before hitting it big time and taking on more serious dramatic roles. Him choosing to visit the restaurant every month or so made Vinnie’s life complete. Especially since the restaurant, Little Italy, was the very definition of a hole in the wall. Not somewhere generally frequented by the Hollywood elite. Meanwhile, I was less of a fan, but still a fan. You know.

“Get him his beer,” Vinnie ordered.

Like I didn’t know my job. Sheesh.

He was busy with his cell by the time I placed the Peroni in front of him. No glass. He drank straight from the bottle like an animal. Just then, a woman in a red sweater dress and tan five-inch-heel booties strode in through the front door.

“I’m sorry, we’re closed,” I said.

“I’m with him.” She headed straight for his booth and slid into the other side, giving the man a dour look. “You can’t just walk out, Patrick. You’re going to have to choose one of them.”

“Nope.” He took a pull from his beer. “They all sucked.”

“There had to be at least one that would do.”

“Not even a little.”

She sighed. “Keep this up and you’ll be obsolete by next week. Beyond help. Forgotten.”

“Go away, Angie.”

“Just another talented but trash male in Hollywood. That’s what they’re saying on social media.”

“I don’t give a shit.”

“Liar,” she drawled.

I wasn’t quite sure what to do. Obviously they knew each other, but he did not seem to want her here. And she really wasn’t supposed to be here. Vinnie had okayed after-hours entry to only one person. On the other hand, if I asked her to leave, she’d probably sic her lawyers on me. She looked the type.

The woman spied me hovering. “Get me a glass of red.”

“She’s not staying,” countermanded Patrick.

Angie didn’t move an inch. “They were all viable options. Pliant. Young. Pretty. Discreet. Nothing weird or kinky in their backgrounds.”

“That might have made them more interesting.”

“Interesting women is what got you into this mess.” The woman frowned, taking me in. Still hovering. One perfectly shaped brow rose in question. “Yes? Is there a problem?”

Now it was Patrick’s turn to sigh and give me a nod. He was so dreamy with his jaw and cheekbones and his everything. Real classic Hollywood handsome. Especially with his short light brown hair in artful disarray and a hint of stubble. Sometimes it was hard not to stare. Which is probably why his personality tended to scream “leave me alone.”

I headed for the small bar area at the back of the restaurant to fetch the wine like a good little waitress.

“We shouldn’t be discussing this here,” said Angie, giving the room a disdainful sniff. Talk about judgy. I thought the raw brick walls and chunky wood tables were cool. Give or take Vinnie’s collection of old black-and-white photos of Los Angeles freeways. Who knew what that was about?

Patrick slumped down even further. “I’m not going back there. I’m done with it.”

“This isn’t safe.” Angie looked around nervously. “Let’s—”

“We’re fine. I’ve been coming here for years.”

“You just got dropped from a big-budget film, Patrick,” she said, exasperation in her tone. “The industry may not find you bankable right now, but I’m sure gossip about you is still selling just fine. This week at least.”

I was given this book for an honest review by the author.

*Sigh*  Another great read by Kylie.  I loved the chemistry between Patrick and Norah!  I loved that Patrick was a smart man and listened to Norah.  I loved that Norah was a normal chick.  She was me.  One of my favorite things about Kylie’s writing is her ability to make hilarious banter.

Norah was a waitress doing her daily grind when she is made an interesting offer.  Patrick the playboy needs a girlfriend to clean up his image and what would be more perfect then a normal, everyday girl next door type???

Norah is the Sunshine carebear while Patrick would be described as Grumpy carebear.  LOL  I enjoyed the storylines they had and the story lines of secondary characters.  I am excited for the series and can’t wait to see more of these two in the series.

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I enjoy Kylie’s stories they are full of humor and banter between the individuals. This one was no different.

Norah is a simple girl the plain Jane. She works multiple jobs so her grandmother can live in an assisted living home. Everything she does is for her grandmother. One of her jobs she is a waitress in an Italian restaurant where Hollywood icon Patrick  Walsh comes to get away and eat in peace.

When Patrick’s carrier starts to tank and he needs to turn his persona around he propositions Norah to be his fake girlfriend. Which Norah takes him up on his offer and now she can put her grandmother in an A+ assisted living home. Norah knows she will end up in the spot light but she as no idea what that really consists of until she finds herself in on center stage and everything about her comes out to the public.

I enjoyed this story Hollywood start falls for the average girl. Kylie’s characters are so life like you can see this happening in the real world. These two were great there was a spark between them and the banter they have is great. This is a slow burn kinda book really Patrick is so brooding let feeling out then pulls back. I enjoyed seeing Patrick and Norah’s relationship come to life and then deal with being in the public eye. I cannot wait to see more of this series.

#REVIEW – Out of the Shadows: A Memoir by Timea Nagy & Shannon Moroney

NATIONAL BESTSELLER

An unforgettable story of an ordinary woman in astonishing circumstances who defies the odds.

Timea Nagy was twenty years old when she answered a newspaper ad in Budapest, Hungary, calling for young women to work as babysitters and housekeepers in Canada. Hired by what seemed like a legitimate recruitment agency, Timea left her home believing she would earn good money to send back to her family. What she didn’t know was that she’d been lured by a ring of international human traffickers–and her life would never again be the same.

Upon her arrival in Toronto, she was forced into sex labour in some of the city’s seediest nightclubs, starved and controlled by her agents, and brainwashed to believe she was to blame for her situation. The only way she’d be free was when her debt was paid–but, no matter how hard she worked, that debt seemed only to go up, not down.

Out of the Shadows is a gripping, heartbreaking and eye-opening journey deep into the underworld of human trafficking and the sex trade, told in riveting detail by one brave survivor. At once tragic and powerfully redemptive, Timea Nagy’s story will stay with you long after you’ve read the last page.
I seriously have no words. Living in Ontario, I knew a lot of the streets mentioned, having been to Toronto more times than I count. I knew about the trafficking issues but I had no idea just how bad it was. Timea’s story was beyond brave. She’s fearless and strong even though I’m sure at times, she probably doesn’t feel that way. Even now. What she went through was heartbreaking but how she came out on top at the end, had me emotional. This story, Timea’s story, will forever be burned into my heart as one of the most powerful stories I’ve ever read. Timea, I know you’ll never read this but thank you for telling your story. I’m not a victim/survivor of any sort of trauma but I felt for these girls and boys. All different ages, it just shows that it doesn’t matter what sex you are. And really, age doesn’t matter either. Timea answered a babysitting ad to leave Hungary and come to Toronto, thinking she would be safe and she wasn’t. At all. Just a warning, there are triggers in this book, so please read with caution. While reading, every time something bad happened to Timea, I kept thinking that she couldn’t catch a break. I’m happy she was able to mend some past relationships and that she was able to find happiness of her ownself after years and years of living in darkness. If you’re working with human trafficking victims or going to school having to do with scary and very real issue, I highly recommend reading this book.

#Review – Doc T (Macha MC Book 1) by: Skye McNeil

50640571. sy475

When danger surrounds a motorcycle club princess and her bad boy protector, will they battle to keep their love alive?

The job is simple. Babysit a MC princess until it’s safe for her to return to Ireland. What Doc T doesn’t expect is to fall for the sassy yet innocent Isadora Walsh… but he can’t have her. It’s the club’s rule.

Isa never knew about her father’s role in Macha MC until it threatened her life. Spirited away to sleepy Snowshoe, Colorado, she craves the bad boy assigned to protect her nearly as much as she’s determined to get away from club life.

When danger crosses into Snowshoe and alliances are questioned, Isa and Doc are thrust into a MC war that results in bullet holes and kidnapping. Can Doc protect Isa or will the Macha princess do the saving?

With plenty of bad boys with hearts of gold, Macha MC members are one of a kind. If you’re looking for a new style of MC bad boy, look no further than Doc T.

Goodreads

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I picked this freebie up from amazon.

Skye McNeil is a new to me author. I saw this freebie and grabbed it up. I am now intrigued and want to read more about the Macha MC. I have to say I enjoyed most of the characters.

Isa has lived with her mom in Ireland and had no contact with her dad. When her mom passes she is reunited with her dad. OK well kind of reunited for seconds but she was shipped from Ireland to Colorado for her safety. Being the daughter of the president puts a big target on her back for a rival MC.

Doc is called to Colorado by his uncle to take his place in the MC. His first duty is to protect the Macha Princess. Doc is a Playboy but when he first meets Isa he is drawn to her like no other.

Will Isa stay in Colorado or will she run back to Ireland at the first chance or will she decide to stay in Colorado with Doc and the MC? If Isa runs, will Doc follow her to Ireland?

The chemistry these two have from the first time he saw her was great. Really who dallies in an airport for two hours and not expect the person picking them up be a little annoyed. I am so intrigued by the other men in this book too. I see Kevlar in next although he was not in the book as much as the others. I’m so ready to read more about him too.

Award-winning author Skye McNeil began writing at the age of seventeen and has been lost in a love affair ever since. During the day, she moonlights as a paralegal at a law firm favoring criminal law.

Skye enjoys writing contemporary and suspense romance novels that leave readers craving more and falling in love over and over. She writes contemporary and historical novels ranging from sweet and sassy to steamy and sultry.

Her constant writing companions two cuddly Australian Shepherds, a purring cat, and her daughter. When she’s not writing, Skye enjoys spending time with family, photography, volleyball, traveling, and curling up with a cup of coffee and reading.

#REVIEW – The Hospital by Barbara O’Hare

A shocking expose of the appalling abuse and experimentation carried out on vulnerable children at Aston Hall Hospital, Derbyshire, in the 60s and 70s.
These books based on true events are way scarier than the horror movies I watch. Knowing the evil vile things that happened in these books, actually happened to someone in real life, is bothersome to say the least. So when 2020 happened, I went through a kick of reading non-fiction books. While they’re well written, I feel almost weird saying that they’re “good” because honestly, what part of the story is even remotely considered to be perceived as “good”? These stories hit me in a different spot somewhere deep inside me, than romance does. Knowing that some poor child/teen/adult went through these awful things, makes me want to befriend them and tuck them safely into my arms. The Hospital is no different. Barbara wasn’t wanted. You see that right away. Which is horrible by the way. She ends up being sent to “The Hospital” and spends months going through “treatment”. I tried understanding what exactly happened during these treatment sessions as it wasn’t exactly clear at first. But with all the books I’ve read and movies I’ve seen, my assumptions were unfortunately correct. Barbara eventually makes it out of The Hospital but every time I thought something good was about to happen and she finally had her freedom, something worse came about. If you like non-fiction books and need a change, definitely pick this one up.

#wotr #attendingauthor #audiobook #partofaseries The Ties That Bind (Ariel Kimber series 4 ) by Mary Martel ; narrated by Melissa Schwairy

Ariel Kimber isn’t like most seventeen year old girls. She’s different because she’s a witch with magic and it’s rare for females to hold magic anymore. She’s settling into her new place amongst her coven of guys while she’s settling into her new home at the same time.

The Council’s appearance into their lives has put everyone on edge. With good reason. Ariel is forced to meet with one of them on a regular basis so that they can learn from each other. Really, though, they just want to get to the bottom of where Ariel came from and she is more than happy to comply with them.

Because there is one thing she wants more than anything else in the world, and that’s to find the man who has been searching for her for years. Her biological father.

And Ariel is willing to go through any and every thing to find him.

This is the fourth book in a slow burn Reverse Harem Series.

Review by Twinsie Dee

I was given this audiobook from the author and this is my honest opinion
Ariel is back with her guys, and they are on the hunt to find her father after finding a box in the back of who she found out was not her mothers closet. Now she has to deal with the counsel being near and trying to teach Ariel how to use blood magic. And with Chucky being told he could be Ariel’s new servant which is the last thing she wanted. Ariel’s father Rain found her and now wanted to be in her life, and now she was getting closer to the other guys that she hadn’t been close to. So with new relationships forming and her father in her life she couldn’t image anything bad happening well little did she know something or someone was going to be coming into her life from her guys past and try to sink her claws into one of her guys. This was once again an amazing book I just love it so much and this was my very first audio books to listen too.

Mary Martel was born in West Michigan and spent the majority of her life there. She currently resides in North Dakota with her husband, and her two beautiful daughters. She’s an avid reader, and when not writing she can be found with her nose stuck in a book.

I had been in love with Gigi Rodriguez for as long as I could remember. I had never been shy about my feelings toward her. Everyone knew how I felt. Except for the person who mattered most.

I needed her like I needed my next breath. Our souls called out to each other, entwining together to form a bond I had never felt with another person.

Holy hawt damn… this book wow ur gonna need a cold rag to help cool you down. So Gigi and Vince have known each other their whole life, had feeling for each other but there was a age difference and neither one wanted to  admit their feelings for the other. Well they both gave each other their virginity the night of Vince’s 18th birthday right before he went off to school. 3 years later feels are still there and they are still having fun, will these two finally get their heads outta of their asses and let the other one know how they feel and knock down all the walls that’s surrounding their hearts. Or will they let other people feelings dictate how they live, with constants obstacles trying to get between them will they get their happiness that they both have been wanting for their whole lives. This book was amazing like everything JM writes you will never been disappointed in her words and the sexiness is on point and on fire.

#Review – Hunting Jessica: Into the Shadows by Elizabeth St. John

Hunting Jessica: Into the Shadows (The Hunting Series #1)

Book 1- The Hunting Series

Hunting Jessica is a heart-pounding, suspenseful, face-fanning paranormal romance that will lead you into a world you never thought could exist. Follow Jessica into the shadows and discover an ancient secret which could alter even your reality.

Goodreads

Review by Twinsie Kelly

As a fan of the paranormal, this definitely was intriguing. This is a fantastical tale of hellhounds and vampires all intricately woven into many twisting paths full of deceit and lies. Don’t worry, there is a love story too. It took me a little bit to get into the story. However, I think this happens a lot with the first book in a series because we are just getting to know characters and the world building is needed. Jessica is a vampire hunter and works for Jay. She wasn’t always a believer of the paranormal but was attacked once and Jay helped her. When she lets one of the men, Gage, who is also a love interest, move into her house, she gets a lot more than she bargained for. Once the secrets are let out she is brought into their world of hellhounds. There is a delicate balance within the hellhound packs and this is one very big part of the web of crazy that this story is. Rayce is another, hawt as a hellhound, man that is the new and current love interest. He is amazing but these two have a lot to overcome if they are going to make it. We find out so much about the insanity within the hellhound packs and the stories go sideways so quick. I never want to give spoilers, and I am trying my hardest not to, but there is so much going on in this book that it is easier for me to just tell you to read it. Naturally, there is always a character that we have beef with, right? I mean, there were times when I wanted to shake Jessica for just being that naive when she is a super strong woman. And there were times that I wanted to shake Jay and Rayce for not doing something to stop the madness that was going on. Overall, I think this was a good read and if you are looking for a new twist on the paranormal, you should give the hellhounds a try.
