Always looking in.

The one.
She was my high, but she was also…
My demise.

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

Crave Me by M. Robinson
Austin & Briggs
(Deep Breath) GAHHHHHHHH
5 Stars!

So, of course this one is just as good as the last one… if not better! I’m seriously thinking about changing my favorite to Crave Me from Undo Me… Nah… can’t do it… Dylan and Aubrey were my fave and always will be, but Austin and Briggs are an extremely close second! This one will go down in the books as angsty, gritty, and unforgettable.

Briggs is one tough cookie. She’s been through so much shit starting at the age of 6 for cripesake. Poor kid.. but in this case, that which does not kill you (literally) will make you stronger. Briggs is one of the strongest females I’ve read in a while. Her only flaw was her willpower where Austin was concerned. Every time she caved I wanted to throat punch her and yell “wake the fuck up!” And that relationship with her Uncle, don’t even get me started! Wow!

Austin is an ass! That’s the only way I can sum him up. He had the world the palm of his hands so many fucking times and he let it all slip right through his fingers. How many chances does this doofis get for fucksake? Yeah, yeah, yeah, he’s a hot alpha male with “fuck me” eye, tats up the waazoo, and muscles that go on forever, but it was his actions that killed me! He took advantage of Briggs more times than I care to remember, but know this… his day will come!

The supporting character cast is vast. All the “Good Ol’ Boys and their gal pals are back, but it’s that cold hearted Uncle of Brigg’s that I can’t get off my mind. Alejandro Martinez is in need of a rude awaking if you ask me. I heard through the grapevine that he may be getting his own book… Eeeep, I can’t wait!!

So, all in all this was amazballs! It was persuasive and powerful. The dialogue flowed easily and felt natural. The storyline is dark and sinister and full of grit and anguish. Ms. Robinson does a bang up job of filling this tale with more than enough tension to make the climax that much more unique. Great job!

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

Jaq with a Q by Jettie Woodruff
Jaq and Oliver
A LITTLE WEIRD BUT SATIFYING
4.5 STARS

This story is not really what you think it to be, at first. It’s angsty and dark. It’s heart wrenching and frightening. It’s even pretty damn comical at times. Jettie sure can write the crazy characters to a tee. Makes ya wonder, is she maybe just a little coo coo herself? Bwahahaha!

Jaq is a total freak! She’s got some major hang ups and she’s not open for suggestion, AT ALL! She makes a phone call one day that will change her life forever. Little does she know that her pathetic little life is about to be uprooted and displaced. I love her antics and the way she handles her animals. Her heart is pure, but her head is in serious need of rearranging.

Oliver is one of those kinds of people that is in constant movement. He can’t not be doing something. Even if it’s just his brain doing the moving. He never seems to be content with where his life is going or what his next job will be. So, when a wrong number comes in and intrigues him, he can’t help but follow up on the mysterious girl who needs a hitman!

The supporting character cast is pretty small. Oliver’s brother Silas is pretty much it! He’s a pretty funny manwhore that Oliver seems to need from time to time even though Silas seems pretty intent on shutting Oliver down at every turn. A few more, but nothing worth mentioning.

This book was weird in a good way. I found myself staying up late to finish it. Jaq and Oliver’s characters are pretty commanding and made me drop just about everything to follow their lives. There was plenty of tension and a massive amount of angst right up until the end. I would say I’m looking forward to Grayce With an A Y but I’ve heard that Jettie isn’t going to write that anymore. In fact I’ve heard she’s not even going to write under the name Jettie Woodruffanymore. Hmm… not sure but from what I gather, she’s happy about this and this is a good thing… We’ll see! I’m not making any judgment calls just yet.

Godsend is the first novel in the Hell Yeah! Heritage series. If you ever wondered where those
McCoy men came from…these historical novels will take you to their beginnings. Deeply sensual stories of romance and adventure, they will capture your imagination and your heart.
History is definitely worth repeating.

Thrust from his home, Austin McCoy travels west to build a new life for himself in the wilds of Texas. Civilization has not yet arrived to the wilderness where he settles and his nearest neighbor is more than two days’ journey through Indian territory alive with bear, cougar and wolves. While difficult, carving out an existence amidst these dangers is not what weighs heavily on his heart. With nothing and no one to share his days, Austin is lost. The answer to his prayers comes from a very unexpected source…

Jolie Dumas has also been torn from the only home she has ever known. The beloved daughter of a plantation owner and his quadroon mistress, she is horrified to be sold into slavery after the death of her parents. Bought and paid for, she is chained and walked from New Orleans to Texas. Before she can be delivered to her master, the slave trader is killed and Jolie escapes. Alone and vulnerable, she seeks a safe place to hide, not knowing the sanctuary she finds may end up being the one place she truly belongs.

When Austin opens his heart and home to the beautiful woman, he has no idea the future she faces. Knowing what awaits her if anyone finds out the truth, Jolie hides her identity from him. Having been betrayed before by those she trusted, she has no idea that in Austin’s eyes she could not be more perfect.
She is his Godsend.

EXCERPT

“Come on, Sandy. Time to lock the door and call it a night.” Austin McCoy urged his dog to join him inside. “We’ve had a hard day. Time to rest.”

The big hound stepped over the threshold, making for the hearth and flopping down in his usual spot.

“We made good headway today. I think we’ve cleared another acre, soon we’ll have enough room for a few more cows.”

Sandy’s only response was to roll over.

“Are you hungry? I’ll hang this pot of stew over the fire to warm it. Tomorrow, I think maybe we’ll put some corn in the coals to roast.”

Austin’s voice rang in the empty space. Taking off his hat, he chunked it on the table. Yes, he was going crazy. The only live creature he had to talk to was his dog and Sandy was a poor conversationalist. He sank down in a ladder back chair with a cowhide bottom and let his gaze rove around the small log cabin he’d built with his own two hands. “Home, sweet home.” The simple dogtrot structure was made from pine logs he’d cut and stripped of their bark. After he’d peeled them smooth, he’d notched the logs on the corners, then set them together, filling the cracks with a mixture of red clay and pine straw. This humble abode was nowhere near as fancy as the home he’d left in Tennessee, but Austin was no longer welcome in his family home. After his mother died, his father had remarried. When his young wife’s wandering eye had fallen on Austin, his father quickly decided it was time for his only son to venture west and make his own fortune. Stephen McCoy had given Austin his inheritance early, wishing him well and sending him on his way.

The lure of adventure was strong and the prospect of his own land in the rich territory of Texas had been some consolation for walking off and leaving everything he’d ever known and held familiar. Now, six months since he’d broken ground six miles south of the spot the Indians called Red Mound, he was fast beginning to regret the decision. Hard work and the dangers he encountered daily were not the cause of Austin’s deep depression. No, it was the isolation. The loneliness. The complete and utter void that seemed to surround him, made Austin want to throw his fists in the air and rail at the heavens. What he wouldn’t give for someone to talk to, someone to hold at night–someone to love.

Austin longed for a wife.

How many nights had he lain alone in his bed and ached for release? He’d not been with many women, but since becoming a man he’d not gone so long without feeling the sweet relief that only a woman could give. And what scared him more than anything, was that there was no end in sight to this exile. Months and years of loneliness stretched before him. How would he endure it? Where would he find a wife in this wilderness? He’d made the long journey to Nacogdoches, only to find women as scarce a commodity as silk. And if there was one, he was no prize. His mind returned to his home in Tennessee, the women he’d courted, the plans he’d made. All of that was gone. What did he have to offer a lady?

Only love, only to be cherished.

Running a frustrated hand through his long hair, he stood up in disgust. “No use wishing for something I can’t have, is there boy?”

Feeling rested enough to feed his hunger pains, Austin hung the cast-iron pot on the hook over the flames. While he was there, he stoked the fire and added another log. Sandy raised up and cocked his ear. “Did you hear something outside?” Austin grew still to listen also. He heard howling in the distance, but nothing out of the ordinary. “Just that big old timber wolf and his pack, nothing unusual.” Sandy lifted his nose to take a whiff, giving Austin a long look from his limpid brown eyes.

“You want to check it out?”

Just voicing the question gave them both a jolt of energy. The dog and man both rose to head for the door. Austin picked up his rifle, just to be on the safe side. “Let’s go see what we can find.”

…In the small lean-to, full of tools, Jolie nestled down in the straw. She was scared and hungry, but at least she had shelter of a sort, enough to give her a chance at a few hours of sleep. The scratches on her body made her feel raw and achy. As she closed her eyes, the sorrow in her heart knew no bounds. With no food, no money, and nowhere to go, Jolie didn’t think she would make it. She’d tried to find some berries to eat, to no avail. The only sustenance to be found was the raw turnip she held in her hands, which she would attempt to eat as soon as she rested enough to have the energy. As she laid her head against the rough wood, Jolie tried to reason with herself about all that happened. What had she done to deserve this? Was she less than her Aunt Lisette or Grandmother Dora? Was she not a human being like they were?

Jolie hugged herself and tried to reason the mystery of slavery. All that her Grandmere and mother had told her, the whispers that she’d heard from Eula and her papa, all the things that she’d seen while at Oak Hill came back to her. The tiny cabins the workers had lived in, how they lined up for water and food to be doled out to them, the men who guarded them on horseback with dogs at their sides–all of the things that she’d chosen to ignore and not see. If she didn’t acknowledge the injustice, it wasn’t real. Closing her weary eyes, she knew there would be no more avoiding the travesty. The nightmare had become her reality.

…Sandy took off ahead, his nose to the ground. Austin followed closely, his rifle loaded and ready. Not too many days ago, he’d seen a panther. He had no wish to kill the big black cat, but it could take down one of his oxen, not to mention a full grown man. Austin cocked his ear toward the area where the three head of cattle were penned. There was no unrest, so he didn’t think there was a predator about. When they came even with the shed, Sandy veered over to nose around. The closer he came, the faster he walked, tail in the air. “What is it, boy?” Austin asked. “Something there?” He figured it was an armadillo or a possum, hopefully not a skunk. The last run-in the mutt had with a skunk, Austin had dipped him in the creek four times, scrubbing him with lye soap until they both could tolerate the stench.

With only the light of the moon to guide him, Austin drew closer to the shed where Sandy was now nosing his way past the door that had somehow been left ajar. Hearing the dog’s whimper, his curiosity rose to a high level. His animal wasn’t reacting the way he would expect if there was prey or some type of threat. No, Austin was confused to see Sandy’s tail begin to wag. “What have you found?”

Coming close, he pulled the door open a bit wider so the moon’s rays could filter into the near darkness. “What?” he whispered. At first he thought the intruder was a man. The hat pulled down over the face and the jacket obscured his view, but the long hair and bare legs sticking out from what appeared to be a dress of some kind convinced him otherwise. He blinked once or twice. Were his eyes deceiving him? Perhaps this was some kind of cruel joke that his mind was playing on him. This was a woman. Going to his knees, he knelt by the small trespasser. “Ma’am? Are you all right?” He shook her shoulder gently.

The touch jerked Jolie awake. All she could think was that Coffi or the bear had her. A scream erupted from her lips before her eyes focused on the face in front of her.

The sudden noise caused Sandy to bark. Austin sat back on his hills, giving the girl a little space. “It’s okay, I’m not going to hurt you.”

Before, Jolie would never have thought to fight for herself, but after what she’d been through, having been sold into slavery, defending herself had become second nature. But without a weapon or light enough to see her surroundings, all she could think about was running. Jumping to her feet, she tried to figure out a way to get past the big man who blocked her way. “Please, just let me go. I’ll leave. I promise.”

Leave? He took in her tattered clothing and bare feet. She was so small. “You don’t have to leave. Come into the cabin where it’s safe. Aren’t you hungry?”

The turnip she’d taken from his garden still lay at her feet. “Yes.” Could she risk it? There was the possibility this man could hurt her, but what choice did she have? “If you’ll let me rest for a little while, I’ll be on my way soon.”

Austin didn’t know what to think. “Are you alone? Where did you come from? Those questions and more were racing through his mind. He rose and offered her his hand. “The ground’s rough. Do you want me to carry you?”

Jolie would’ve laughed if she’d felt more confident. “No. I’ll be fine. I’ve walked a long way already.”

He couldn’t fathom what she was saying. Knowing what lay beyond his small clearing, Austin was flabbergasted to find this tiny female seeming to be at the mercy of the world. “Please, come in and let me check your feet and get you something to eat. Sandy and I were just about to have supper. Somehow, he knew you were out here.”

“He did?” Jolie laid her hand on the big dog’s head. “He’s soft.” The memory of the vicious dogs used on the plantation to keep the slaves in line caused her to jerk her hand back. “He won’t bite me?”

“No, he won’t bite.” Austin was anxious to get his guest inside. “We’re glad to have some company, aren’t we, Sandy?”

His dog answered with a bark, which made Jolie smile. “Okay, for a little while.”

As Austin led his guest back to the cabin, he tried to make her feel more comfortable. “My name is Austin McCoy. What’s yours?”

“Jolie.” She answered automatically, then immediately regretted it. Would her buyer look for her? Did he know her name? She really had no way of knowing one way or the other.

“Jolie.” Austin said it, savoring the way her name sounded on his lips. “That’s a beautiful name. Where are your folks? Were you attacked by Indians?” The thought of her just barely escaping with her life made his blood run cold.

“We were attacked. My parents are dead.” Both of those things were true, albeit unrelated.

“I’m so sorry.”

When he opened the door to the cabin, the smell of food caused her to sway. She hadn’t realized how weak she’d become.

Austin shot out a hand to stabilize her. “How long since you’ve eaten.”

“A couple of days.” She tried to remember. Coffi hadn’t really cared whether the women had eaten or not.

As soon as he got Jolie inside, Austin began to do everything he could do to make her welcome. “Here, sit here.” He gave her the more comfortable chair, a rocker that sat next to the fireplace. “And water, let me get you some water.” Moving to the bucket of well-water he kept on the small cabinet in what passed for his kitchen, Austin ladled a cup full and carried it to her.

Taking the water, she gratefully took a drink. “Thank you.” It tasted so good, she greedily drank it all.

“I’ll get you more.” He hastily refilled the cup, then found a bowl to dip up some of the stew. “This is rabbit, but I’ve added some potatoes and onions I raised in the garden. I think it’s edible.”

“You’re very kind.” Jolie sat the cup on the floor and raised her hands to grasp the clay dish with the tin spoon.

“My pleasure,” Austin said and he meant it. Even by the light of the kerosene lamp, he couldn’t make out her features. The hat cast a shadow over her face, but from what he could see of her neck and arms they were covered with mud and numerous scratches. “I think I’ve got an herb salve that might make those sore places on your face and arms feel better.”

Jolie heard him, she just couldn’t stop eating long enough to answer.

Raised a lady, she managed not to shovel the food between her lips–just barely.

It did Austin’s heart good to watch her eat, but he couldn’t stop worrying about what would happen to her if she left again. “Where will you go? Do you have relatives?”

Swallowing the last delicious bite, she licked her lips, then hung her head. “I’m not sure what I’m going to do.” Just the thought of trying to find a place to live, some way of making a living, was more than she could comprehend.

Austin wanted to offer help. He wanted to do something. Noticing again her tattered clothing, he spoke quickly. “Do you have any other clothes?” He hadn’t seen any type of satchel, but she might have left it at the lean-to.

Jolie glanced down at the rag she wore. “No, I must look a mess.” What could she say? “I ran to get away.”

He nodded. “I’m sure you were terrified. Would you like to wash up and change? I could pour up some water for you.”

Cleaning herself sounded like heaven. “Please, yes. But I have nothing else to wear.”

“I’m sure I can find something.” He rose to find her anything of his that would come close to fitting. “A shirt, I’ll find a shirt for you. As small as you are, the length will be almost like a gown.”

As Jolie sat there by the fire, her belly full, with a dog at her feet, she was transfixed by the big man with the long honey blond hair moving around the room, doing his best to make her comfortable. As she waited, she trembled. Residual shock from all she’d endured still echoed throughout her body.

“Jolie, you can come and clean up.” He snapped his finger. “Sandy, get up. We shall wait outside. When you finish, we’ll return.”

He gave her a kind smile, then left her alone. As soon as he was gone, she glanced around. After Oak Hill and even the bungalow, his home was simple and barren. But for the first time in weeks, she felt safe. Taking the rag he’d given her to use, she dipped it in the lukewarm water and began to clean the mud and blood from her body.

Outside, Austin leaned against the side of his cabin, flummoxed by all that had happened. How different this evening had turned out to be than the one he’d envisioned. For a little while, he was no longer alone. When a smile played upon his lips, his selfish feelings shamed Austin. How could he take pleasure when this woman had suffered so much loss?

Standing in the darkness, he kept an eye on Sandy who explored a few feet away. “Don’t go far, boy.” Austin was aware of the dangers that lurked in the darkness. The knowledge that Jolie had been exposed to those same dangers and soon would be again caused a shudder to rip through him. How could he let her return to the wilderness? The very idea was intolerable. He’d have to accompany her to a settlement, see that she was safely delivered to…his mind clamored for answer. Perhaps the Spanish mission in Nacogdoches could offer her sanctuary until she could find someone or…

“Mr. McCoy, Austin? You can come back in now.”

Her soft voice broke into his thoughts. “Very well.”

“Sandy.” He called his companion and they reentered the cabin. Aware she had changed into his clothing, he cautiously let his gaze move up her body, starting at her small feet, which were now clean from the mud that had been caked on them. By the time his eyes climbed to her face, Austin was speechless. He’d never seen a more beautiful woman. Her skin was the color of gardenias, and her eyes were a purplish blue that reminded him of a delphinium flower that had grown in his mother’s garden. The hat was gone and now he could see she had dark hair which fell to the middle of her back in long, loose curls…and her lips, her lips were the color of a pomegranate. Her beauty almost brought him to his knees.

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

Honor Me by Chelle Bliss
City & Suzie
WOW… JUST WOW!
5 Stars – all the damn way

Well, Chelle did it again! She pulled on my heartstrings, she kicked me in the gut, and she made me laugh my ass off. I already loved Joe Gallo with everything I had, I didn’t know I could love him anymore than I already did… WRONG… his love for Suzie is immense and that in itself makes me fall in love with him all over again.

Joe is the best hubs evah. The best daddio too! His girls come first and that’s all there is to it. Suzie goes through some seriously depression and instead of letting her push him away, Joe does the only thing he can, he gets her help when he can’t do it. Nothing is sexier than an alpha hunk admitting he needs help! Joe does just that!

The supporting character cast is vast and you’re typical Gallo hotties and their crazy women.. Oh, and let’s not forget the wild Izzy. Those chicks crack me the fuck up! All that talk about toys, sex, and submission was making me laugh my ass off.

So.. this book is full of excitement, emotion, unconditional love, tension, angst, and tons of hilarity. The characters are like family and the story is like coming home. The dialogue flows with efficiency and sounds and feel natural. Chelle created just the right amount of anxiety leading up to a spectacular climax. I fell in love once again and I’m not ashamed to admit it!

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

The Beast by J.R. Ward
Rhage & Mary & Bitty
ALWAYS NICE GOING BACK TO CALDWELL
5 STARS

So, this is like, what? The 14th book in the series… Holy hell Ms. Ward… you just keep pumping ’em out! Well, this one kind of brought me back to when the story of the Black Dagger Brotherhood began. Not only because it’s predominately focused on Rhage and Mary, but because the writing is similar to earlier books. I like that!

Rhage has been troubled by some strange yearning feeling. He’s not acting on it just yet, but more like trying to figure out why the hell he’s been so moody and why holding a baby would make him feel all weepy and sappy. I think he knows the reason why, but since his Shellan can’t give him what he craves, he’ll do his best to make these feelings disappear. I will tell you this.. I love this side of him. He’s melting my heart all over again.

Mary is working hard at Safe Place and is paying close attention to one case in particular. A little girl by the name of Bitty. Mary is helping her with the death of her Mother and with transitioning into a life without her. I think Mary is feeling a little overwhelmed with her job and personal life crashing into one another, but she’s keeping it under control for now.

There are a few side stories brewing in The Beast that I’m sure we’ll see more of in books to come. Xcor and Layla (I believe) will be the next book to come out called The Chosenand Assail struggling with his drug addiction which I’m sure hasn’t even begun to get bad enough for him to relinquish it.

So, this series is like a staple for me. A book comes out, you get it. No questions asked. YOU BUY IT! Simple as that. I just want to go on record for saying that JR Ward’s writing style is impeccable. She not only delivers a brilliant tale, she makes you a part of it. She has from the very beginning inDark Lover. The storyline is enormously persuasive, her dialogue flows with ease and even makes you crack the fuck up at times, and her characters are commanding and spot on. I love this series!

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

The Devil’s Wife by Gemma James
Gage & Kayla
HOLY FUCKING HELL!!
5 Stars

So, this one blew my fucking mind! It’s taken me this long to write this review! I thought I might fucking smash something if I had to talk about Gage to early! Gemma, girl… you really outdid yourself with this one! You have captured a total asshole alpha in all his splendor! I can hardly believe it, but this book actually made my blood pressure go up! Wow!

Gage Channing is an egotistical asshole with a major control issue. I have never been so fucking pissed off at a character in all my life! He’s mean, he’s selfish, he’s offensive, he’s condescending, and he’s just enough alpha and sexiness to wipe all that spitefulness away. How Gemma still manages to make me attracted to this fuck, I’ll never know! I want to grab hold of his lapel, rip his mug up to mine, and scream in his fucking face until he agrees to be kind to Kayla. Jaysus Fekking Croist!!!

Kayla is a fucking doormat. A well-dressed doormat, but a doormat all the same. I loved her for the way she handled Gage in some circumstances and I hated her for the times she folded when I know she could have prevailed. She always has that power, but very rarely uses it. This in itself drove me bat-shit crazy! So, I’ll leave you with this… I loved to hate her!

The supporting character cast was very small… Ian… God, Ian… what to say! I love him and I wish I knew more about what became of him. Is he ok? Is he alive? My heart can’t take much more of this! Katherine! You gotta be fist fucking me here! This would have been the straw that broke the camels back for me… Total jaw dropping moment! Simone is a great friend of Kayla’s but I’m afraid doesn’t do enough for her. I know there’s only so much she CAN do, but jeeze… I think she could have done more, but that’s just me!

So, what can I say! This story has been so compelling since the first installment that once I pick it up, I can’t put it down. The characters are very commanding and heartbreaking, but sometimes make me see red! The dialogue flows and feels natural and makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up! The entire book had me on the edge of my seat, constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s has plenty of plot twists and turns and keeps you engaged from cover to cover.

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

Sex Snob by Elizabeth Hayley
THE BEST DICKING I’VE HAD IN A LONG TIME!!!!
Amanda & Shane
5 Stars!

Just finished this little whopper a few hours ago. It packs quite a punch and is filled to the rim with sexual tension, ample humor, and the best damn character cast I’ve read in a long time. The subject lines are not too heavy, but hinting at more intense feelings to be revealed later. It’s definitely one you all need to put on your TBR list like right quick and in a hurry!

Amanda was utterly spectacular. I loved her from the very beginning and why not? She’s gorgeous, smart, talented, and all around one of the best damn female leads I’ve read in long time. She made me laugh out loud more times than I can count. With that said, she also made me want to smash her face in a few times too. I loved that she was Lily’s roomie from the previous book Pieces of Perfect so we got to read about Lily a little bit too. I’m so looking forward to finding out who the man is Lily’s been going to see. I think I know, but I’ll wait till the next book comes out to see for sure! Now Shane, he’s one hot piece of ass! He was always straight forward, no fooling around when it came to his CrossFit classes. Sometimes I couldn’t tell if he was being a jokester with Amanda or if he was being serious. Some of those comments about her body, I just wanted to kick him in the nuts, but I get now that most of that was just banter between those two. Trust me, Amanda gave it right back! He’s a very trustworthy, outgoing type of person and if I thought I’d run into someone like him at a gym I’d buy two memberships like yesterday! LOL! Great supporting characters in Lily, Steph, Danielle, Kate, Kyle, Hot Rod, and even Master Bader.

The writing style is perfect. It always gets right to the point while making you feel every emotions our characters feel. Good, bad, funny, and ugly, you name it, I’ve felt it in this book. Elizabeth Hayley’s writing has a way of sucking you into her story and making you feel like you’re actually living it. The POV is Amanda’s and by God, she a great story teller! The pacing is great and kept me interested from cover to cover. I was sad to see it end. Like I said, I was seriously into this one and it felt like I was losing a friend when I read that last page. Never fear, I’ll keep you on my Kindle always Sex Snob!

Tons of highs and lows, and one of the greatest climaxes I’ve read in a long time. It’s approximately 210 (Kindle Verison) pages long. A perfect length to get this book under my skin, take me on a wild ride, and put me to bed with a huge gin on my face! Looking forward to your next one in this series!

#Review – Picking up the Pieces by Elizabeth Hayley @EHayleyAuthor

20521460

After a myriad of mistakes and a devastating breakup, Lily Hamilton is no longer the impulsive, selfish person she had once been. Now, she longs for the chance to make it up to the one person she knows holds the key to her happiness. But can he get beyond who she was and love her for who she is now? Or is history destined to repeat itself?

Adam Carter has gone through his own metamorphosis. His days of serial monogamy are long gone, and he’s been burying his hurt by dating women he has no intention of committing to. But when he sees Lily for the first time in months, he’s reminded of the man he used to be; the man he wants to try and be again–for her.

Max Samson is on the downward spiral from hell. Drinking and meaningless sex have taken over his life once again, causing him to revert back to the man he’d been before Lily fell into his life. But when his mother invites Lily back into his world, he suddenly remembers how good it felt to have her there. Even if he might not get to keep her.

Find out how Lily gets her happily ever after in this final installment of her story. This book is recommended for mature audiences due to language and unbelievably awesome sexual content.

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

Picking Up the Pieces by Elizabeth Hayley
UNFUCKINGBELIEVEABLY AWESOME!!!!
Lily, Adam, & Max
5 Mutha Effin’ stars!!!!!

You’re killing me! I mean seriously girls, I had major book hangovers after Pieces of Perfect and Sex Snob… now you totally fuck with my heart and soul over this one! (*Jaw drops) This story was so compelling that I could not put this down, I could not even speak! In fact, I think the only thing I could do was white knuckle it through this mix of emotions my body seemed to crave!!! This story, these characters were like my crack! I want to know them, I want to hang with them, and I want to be them. So much angst, so much craziness and sprinkle on some humor and hot sex and wha lah… you got yourselves a winner!!!!

Lily is so effing awesome! Funny as hell and oh so damn adorable! She may seem a little scatter-brained at times, but rest assured, she’s got it all figured out, well at least for that day she does! Oh to be young again! Talk about “Hot For Teacher,” I think I could dig having a teacher like her! She keeps herself busy as to not fall into that bottomless pit of self pity and wretchedness. She’s got a great approach to life and could easily be added to my girl posse!! I. Freaking. Love. Her and I’ll be celebrating on March 23 <>!!

Adam, well, he wasn’t my preferred character in Pieces of Perfect to begin with, but I guess he grew on me a bit… until I read this book and then he just got on my damn nerves! Every last one to be exact! At one point you think he’s all that and a bag of chips and then the floor drops out from under you and you’re like whaaaaa??? I get that he’s a single Dad and he’s suppose to have it all together, but he just seemed at times to act like a spoiled rotten brat! He would be the reason for my urges to throw my Kindle across the room!

Max, oh God almighty, Max!! Call me crazy, but I’m such a sucker for a bad boy athlete with an attitude problem! I guess you could call Max the “class clown.” He made me laugh out loud with his raw humor more times than I can count! I am now and will be forever on TEAM MAX! He’s just one ideal hunk of man that’ll melt your panties, make you giggle, and scare the shit out of you in one conversation! Just watch out for his rape whistle!! Love ya Maxi!!!

One of the best supporting character cast in a long time. Amanda is such a riot with her banter among just about everyone in here! Shane is, well Shane and seems to love the fact that Amanda is all kinds of fucked up, cause she’s his all kinds of fucked up! The way she talks to Lily, I had to wipe tears from my eyes… “If I were a guy, I’d fuck you!” or “Jesus Lily. He’s in your gym, not your vagina. Get a fucking grip.” All the teachers at Swift make being a teacher sounds good, even that “box of rocks” Tina! Even Adam’s friends got my dander up! Makes for some great emotions making me feel a little murderous at times!!! Welp, gotta go… gotta catch the next Greyhound back to Trampsylvania! Bwahahahaha!!!!

The dialogue feels very natural and flows with proficiency. It felt like I was inside Lily’s head at times, like I knew what she would do or say next. After reading the conclusion, I literally sat with my mouth open is amazement. To take this story where you did and end up with that climax, sheer genius! I love it! It’s 344 (Kindle Version) pages long, and I don’t know about you, but I read faster than I’ve ever read before and devoured every effing word that 344 pages went by in a flash…. time flies when you’re having fun!! The pacing is somewhat fast paced and I struggled with that option I always give myself… (I’ll put it down after this chapter) Yeah, right!!! Lost a lot of sleep over this one, but oh so worth it!

#Review – Pieces of Perfect by Elizabeth Hayley @EHayleyAuthor

18308384

As a sexy ex-hockey player, Max was the bad boy with something to prove. As a handsome single father, Adam was the man most women wait a lifetime for. Each man would take me on a journey of self-discovery that was marred with lies, jealousy, deceit, and a whole lot of fun. They each offered a glimpse of happily ever after, a piece of perfect. But in my constant quest to have it all, I would risk losing everything. Only one thing was certain. I’d never be the same after this.

TWINSIE DEB’S REVIEW

Pieces of Perfect by Elizabeth Hayley
TO AIRPORTS, AUDITORIUMS, AND PRESS BOXES – CHEERS!
Max, Adam, and Lily
5 stars!

Well, I just finished this, as in like seconds ago! I’m trying to type this with teary eyes and a damn runny nose! Damn you Elizabeth Hayley! You sought me out, captivated me, and turned my world upside down! I am in love with this story and these characters. I cannot wait to read the next installment. It is so steamy, so funny, and so heart wrenching that I’m in awe that this is actually your first book. Congrats, you have a winner here!!!

This story of love, betrayal, deceit, and acceptance is unlike any other I’ve ever read. It’s not precisely dealing with anything too dark or creepy, but it will definitely have you so tied up in knots that I fear (for myself) that I will never be the same again. This is not your traditional love story, it’s much more! I mean we’re talking “A slice of pepperoni and an orgasm” for lunch! I think I’m going to enjoy my visit to “Delusionalville!”

I’m going to start with Lily (a.k.a. sailor mouth)… she’s a brilliant female lead character for so many reasons. She’s smart, witty, sexy, and for Godsakes man, she’s fucking two hot piece of asses!!! I must confess, she was getting on my nerves a tad, but I could almost appreciate her actions due to the dilemma she found herself in. I probably would have done the same things. Now Max, holy hell. That boy is hot, damn hot. I envision him being like this big dumb teddy bear that could be lead around on a leash eventually. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a total alpha male, but you could just tell there was something more inside of him, it just needed to come out. He can also bang like a champ in just about any situation for Godsakes. Adam, on the other hand wore his heart on his sleeve. Equally sexy, but oh so different from our sexy talker Max. If the two could just merge, you’d have the perfect man! Great supporting characters in Tina and both sets of parents. That Tina, now she’s somebody I’d hang out with! I could even say I enjoyed the “dirty pirate hooker” in the bar!

The writing style is effortless to read and flows very nicely. The pacing is not too fast nor too slow. I guess you could say it’s just right. I found myself blowing through some chapters like there was no tomorrow and others, I savored just a little longer. It’s 248 (Kindle Version) pages long and a perfect length in my opinion. There are too many highs and lows to single one out, but know this… It’s going to take you on a turbulent ride and at times will feel like the bottom just dropped out on you. Take comfort in knowing, you’re not alone. Been there, done that!

I’m not too certain about the ending just yet. I was a little freaked out, but have calmed some while writing this review. I’ve come to the conclusion that your climax was simply perfect… No, let me rephrase that, it was Pieces of Perfect! I am patiently waiting for the next book to come out, and when I say patiently, I mean more like, I’m biting my fucking nails, pulling my goddamn hair out, and slamming my Kindle around… so could you pretty please with sugar on top hurry!!! xo
