Lost in Vengeance (Wolf Creek Shifters Book 1)

Her fate is sealed…

Without a pack there’s only one thing about Catrina’s future that’s certain. Death. But all she cares about is avenging her parents’ murders, and being part of a pack will only slow her down.

After being wrongfully imprisoned in a wildlife sanctuary, Catrina catches the attention of the Wolf Creek Alpha—Killian Stone. He wants her in his pack, but Cat refuses to submit, not when she’s come this close to finally getting the revenge she craves.

But he’s determined to save her…

Killian will do anything to uncover her secrets. There’s no way he’ll stand by and watch her self-destruct as a lone wolf because of a past she can’t change.

As their attraction grows Cat starts to doubt every decision she’s ever made. Killian shows her what it’s like to be part of a family and proves to her she doesn’t have to be alone.

Torn between a future with a loving pack, and a past she’s been shackled to for so long, Cat needs to decide if she’s willing to move on…or lose the last hope she’s ever had of finding peace.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I was given the ebook from the author for an honest review but I did purchase the audio book to listen too.

I am a sucker for a shifter series.  I also loved this authors dystopia book and so I politely begged for this book as well.  LOL  I will say I am very excited for a new to me series to continue to read.

The narration for this story was enjoyable.  Sometimes, you can get a narrator who you just don’t think fits the story, but Skylar Summers hit each voice perfectly.  I really enjoyed her Scottish accents.

Before I start the story review I will say there are times I felt the story did drag a bit BUT since this is the first book in the series, I chalked it up to world and character building.  The excessive details about random things would pull me out of the story at times but over all I still liked the story and am ready for book 2.

Killian finds a feral shifter who is being held in a human zoo/sanctuary when he goes to get her.  Right from the start he knows she is different but does not understand how or why.  We meet Catrina who has been through the biggest loss of her life and is scared.  She was hidden away while her parents were being killed and then ran…for 6 years in wolf form.

We see Killian, Jamie and the rest of the pack welcome Catrina and try to help her acclimate to the human world again.  We also see the chemistry between Killian and Cat.  Its very instant they have a drive to touch and see each other all the time.

We soon deal with pack jealousy over Killian’s obvious affections for Cat.  We see Cat making friends and forming family/pack bonds even if she denies it.  But Cat is looking for revenge against those who killed her parents.

We soon meet the “bad” people but don’t understand what is happening except we know they want Cat.  I will say as the story starts to unfold with who is looking for Cat, her past is opened up and we learn about her parents and life pre-murder, you cant help but feel sorry for her and all her loss.  However, seeing Killian stand and support her even if his wolf gets a smidge jealous made me giggle….oh Killian.

The end of the story was super interesting.  I liked the twist of what made Cat “special”.  I also look forward to Aiden and learning more about him. But first up is Jamie in book 2 and I feel like Mr. Playboy isn’t loving being single after all he says.

Author H.R. Savage (Heather) started reading romance at an age that made her father cringe as she tried to hide the cover behind her hands. She technically finished writing her first book in Junior High, where it mysteriously disappeared in a reformatting incident. Due to the encouragement of her English teachers at her small town school in La Verne, California, she never lost her love for the art. Now a woman who swears by the power of coffee, Chinese food, and wine (not necessarily in that order), she decided it was time to create stories from the characters in her head.

When Heather isn’t writing, outlining, or pinning pictures of hot ‘character inspirations’ on Pinterest™, she is spending time with her three beautiful children and handsome husband.
