Jolanthe Aleksander

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Jolanthe (Jo-lawn-thay) Aleksander. I’m a mom to 1 son. I work full time and write whenever I can.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

The last book in a series I found to be the hardest because you want to make sure that everything is tied up, there are no open storylines that need a conclusion.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I’ve only written one series, and it was an ongoing series with the same couple as the main characters. I’ll be able to answer better when through with the new series I’m working on. 😉

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Find something that takes your mind away from writing but can be just as inspiring. For some that can be reading, dancing, taking a drive to the beach, a nature walk, planting…or just vegging on the couch watch your favorite show. Sometimes we just need a mental break to recharge and reboot.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

Not enough.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

Celine from my Veil series. She is fiesty, strong, and not afraid to fight back.

If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?

hmmmm….the only celebrity I had in mind for my books was Brock O’Hurn. He was the inspiration for Caomhnoir.

What is your definition of success?

Finishing what you started to the best of your ability.

Do you have anything you want to share that didn’t fit on one of these questions?

What works for one author doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for another. Some have a regimented writing routine. Some squeeze their writing in between tasks. Some are plotters and others are pantsers or somewhere in between.

Book 1-

Things are not always simple or what they seem.
Daria McClaren is content. She has her dance school, her cousin Celine and the man of her dreams. Literally.

Iauron is uneasy. As the High King of the Fae, his chosen Queen Verisiel is calling to him, but he cannot find her. The court insists that she has crossed over. He is not so sure that is the case. He has searched every realm looking. Every realm, but the human one.

The race is on. Beyond the veil lie truths waiting to be revealed. Which one will have the courage to look? Will they be in time?

Book 2-

If she had never been at a crossroad before, Daria found herself at one now.

With one foot in the distant past, the other remains firmly entrenched in the present. Daria tries to come to terms with the memories of her previous life as they inundate her mind on an endless loop. Can she deal with the past and find a way to walk the path that is laid out for her future? Is she brave enough to face her destiny, or will she walk away?

Iauron has his Queen back…or does he? His is aware of Daria’s lingering doubts about him as she tries to retain her humanity in the face of remembering and accepting who she once was. Though the main threat to her life is temporarily incapacitated, he knows it cannot, and will not, remain that way forever.

Not fully Verisiel nor Daria, is she strong enough to meet the coming threat head on? Can she come into her powers and stand by his side? Can he let her go if she cannot accept the whole truth of her situation?

Big questions remain with few answers in sight, and time is running out.

Book 3 –

Cóipeáil, the King’s shadow, never knew who he was beyond his bond to his Fae father. Born and bred to be his master’s mirror and guardian, when he was sent to find a human female, he didn’t know what it would mean to fall in love with her.

Hidden away on an island thought lost, Celine found paradise with a man she’d never known she wanted. But, love wasn’t enough, not for the bonds of fealty her lover obeyed, or to keep him with her when he doubted his own worth.

Her heart bruised by rejection, Celine set her course on a new path, determined not to let his absence break her. When he returns, wanting a chance to rekindle the flame between them and prove that his love for her was never in question, only his worth for the beautiful woman he wants as his mate, will the feelings she’s never relinquished for him be enough to bind them back together?

Is love enough to bring a human and a Fae together for eternity?

Jess Haines

Time can change anyone’s story. Even mine.

Once upon a time, there was a forest with an enchanted lake whose waters brimmed with secrets…

There are many versions of my story. You may have heard that an evil wizard transformed a princess into a swan. Or perhaps the tale of a witch who turned a beautiful queen into a white duck to take her royal place at the side of the king. Or that a prince stole a woman’s veil to prevent her from transforming into a bird and flying away from him.

A little truth may be sprinkled in all these tales. I cannot speak for them all.

But this one is mine.

I received this book from the authors for an honest review.

I really liked the premise of this book.  The Fae King Iauron is looking for his Queen, Versisiel, who is hiding in the Human world.  He has been looking for CENTURIES and just recently found the thread to their bond.  He is stunned she goes to hide there vs any other place.

Daria is a regular girl who is having weird dreams nightly about someone saying they will find her.  When her friend asks her to come work with her for the summer she meets “Ian” AKA Iauron.  He is meeting her in the human word to help her remember who she really is and take her home.  Getting her to fall back in love is also on the agenda!!!

Dramorion, The Prince and Aislinn all have different reasons for NOT wanting the queen to be found.  He wants the throne for himself and she is the pawn he is using for the power. She thinks she will be ruling with the king when the queen is never found.  Poor Poor Aislinn gets taught a valuable lesson, don’t trust anyone and don’t go against your king.

Ian and Daria do fall in love along with have some more surprises happen for them.  The king learned of the betrayal and starts to make a plan to get his queen home safe and also help her remember everything.

Like I said before, I did like this story but I felt it was a little bit slow in parts and the end of the story seemed a bit too rushed.  I will continue to read because I am curious about Daria/Verisiel.

An amazing heartfelt book. This story is about the illusion of time and how this luxury can be easily taken away. Daria has been whisked away to the fae realm. She has been told she is Veriseil, the fae queen and she struggles with this day in and day out. She has always been an independent woman and feels like she is drowning in this new world and life. She has no say in this and it wrecks her emotionally. Iauron, the fae king, is ecstatic that he has found his queen. But how does he show her that he loves Daria and not just Veriseil. There is a delicate push and pull between the characters that becomes intense at times. And low and behold…the bad guy is still out there and will stop at nothing to bring down the fae queen. And what happens when you mess with fate? Karma comes back tenfold to all involved. This is truly a wonderful story of true love….and new love. A beautiful follow up to Beyond the Veil of Whispered Dreams. I can’t to see what Jolanthe Aleksander comes up with next!

Very promising beginning to a new series! This is a story where the Fae Queen is missing but is found in the human realm. She is no longer in fae form but reincarnated as a human. The Fae King finds her and is hell bent on making her remember her past life so she can be the queen she once was. The story starts with Daria, a young woman who is still trying to find herself, when she “runs into” Ian, a very hot client. A very fast and hot relationship starts and then the rollercoaster begins. You are thrown in the passion that Ian feels and the issues he has trying to get Daria to remember….while trying to make Daria believe that she loved him once. There is a traitor amongst the Fae and this traitor is the reason the queen is a human now. The king is faced with finding and dealing with this traitor and making his queen remember. It is quite the story!

“Day and night cling to each other like lovers torn apart. The few moments they are allowed to exist in the same time and space is brief and fleeting, and loathe though they are to leave each other, they paint the sky in beautiful colors as remembrance of their love for one another. And, during the day, the world is such a busy place that when dusk finally does arrive, it feels as if the world finally gives itself permission to take a deep breath and relax.”

“It was beautiful. She couldn’t deny it. It was also a cage. ‘A beautiful cage of snow and ice that is preventing me from returning home.’”

I absolutely recommend this book. The reason for giving it 3 3/4 stars is that some parts of this story are very rushed and at times I was left needing more. Nothing from the main story is missing but there are some side notes that could have been drawn out more and the story jumps around a bit. This is very promising and it is left with a cliffhanger. I am anxious to continue the Fae King and Queen’s story.

Missing the stage, and at the prompting of some on-line friends, Jolanthe gave rp-ing with an internet group a try. There she found and developed her skill as a writer.
When not working, writing, or keeping up with her son, Jolanthe can be found scouring antique shops, used bookstores, and of course, reading.
