The Best Ever (Second Chance Neighbors Book 2) by [Kerr, Josie]

What happens when two control freaks meet their match?

Rory Doyle likes to be in control: in control of his career, in control of his home, and in control of his relationships. The one thing he can’t control is his reaction to real estate agent Ashley Richards, a feisty ex-pageant queen.
Ashley Richards is a woman with a plan; always has been, always will be. She’s got her sights set on conquering the Atlanta commercial real estate market, and the last thing she needs is Rory Doyle disrupting her carefully planned life.

After their best friends get their happily ever after, Rory wants to take his relationship with Ashley to the next level, but Ashley has other things to worry about, including planning the perfect wedding for her best friend. Add a bonus complication of the biggest challenge of her professional career and she definitely does not need the distraction of Rory’s sexy Irish brogue and his hot dancer’s body.

Can Rory convince Ashley to listen to her heart or will she decide that he doesn’t fit in with her plans?

I purchased this book.

GAH!!!  When I finished Em and Mick’s book I was obsessed to see the secret relationship of Rory and Audrey.  I mean those two are busting with sexual tension in the first book so actually seeing their side of the story was AWESOME!!

I am going to say Lust is the best word to describe the two of them when they first meet.  But a they hook up and spend time with one another Smitten becomes the word of choice.  They both are smitten with the other, but they are afraid to say anything.

Rory has a reputation, but he is more aware of wanting more with Audrey then she will admit to herself.  Audrey is a woman who is out to prove herself.  She lives and works in a man’s world.  She wants to be taken seriously and respected.  So her fear of being less then in the eyes of others drives her to not open her eyes to all that Rory had to offer her.

These two were such a fun book to read.  They weren’t as intense as Em and Mick but they definitely had me laughing at the shenanigans their fear of facing the fact they are in hardcore love with the other.

A Bad Bit Nice (Second Chance Neighbors Book 1) by [Kerr, Josie]

Em Davidson is a curvy, never-married, 43-year-old Internet security analyst who has been working at the wrong job, living in the wrong house, and involved with the wrong man for about 10 years too long. All she wants is a challenging career, her very own home, and an age-appropriate Mister Ideal who will make her toes curl when he kisses her.

Mick Brennan is a bearded, tattooed widower of 20-plus years who thinks, maybe, just maybe, he might be ready to dip his foot back in the dating pool. He might not know exactly what he’s looking for in a relationship, but he knows he doesn’t want a girl half his age.

When Em moves into her dream home, she had no idea that her downstairs neighbor could be her Mister Ideal. When Mick meets his talkative upstairs neighbor, he’s more intrigued by her than he has been in any other woman in two decades.

Can these two lonely people overcome the wounds of their pasts to discover love again?

I purchased this book.

I saw this cover and was like “HEEEY now” and then read the blurb…don’t judge me!!  Have you seen the cover…YUMMMY!!!  But what stuck out right away for me was the love over 40 and 2nd chance.  I am a total sucker for 2nd chance romances.  I mean doesn’t everyone deserve a 2nd chance in their life????

I enjoyed the story and felt like Em and Mick were really the match the other person.  They complimented the other well and helped them overcome a lot.  Granted, I think Mick sinking into himself after his trauma in his 20’s was way more difficult for him to overcome but Em’s sass and fire was what he needed.  I loved her giving him a kick in the pants which is finally what made him open his heart to what he could have again if he didn’t screw it up.  Mick was the perfect aggressive Alpha that Em needed in her life.  After having a loser for the past 10 years, she needed someone who would fight for her and not fight against her annnd Mick is a fighter!!!

The side plots revolving around Rory and Audrey were hilarious!!  Those two are going to be a fun read that’s for sure.  They won’t admit anything, but both want everything the other has to offer.

My old issue with the book was there were times I felt like I was being “Told” the story vs being “shown” the story.  AS the book got deeper into the story, I found it was better and less telling.  Another issue I had were sometimes the book in the beginning felt a bit choppy. But again, once the book got going it seemed to flow better.
