#Review – The Rebellious Sister (Unstoppable Liv Beaufont #1) by Sarah Noffke & Michael Anderle

The Rebellious Sister (Unstoppable Liv Beaufont, #1)

Olivia Beaufont likes fixing things and keeping to herself. She’s simple like that—but her life is about to drastically change.

Liv is a rebel with royal blood who abdicated her birthright. A string of murders changes everything and the House of Seven asks her to take on a role as a Warrior, one of seven positions revered for protecting magic.

Although Liv would rather stay out of the politics and conspiracies that she ran away from years ago, her family needs her. It’s only a twelve-year stint until her sister, the next in line, can take over.

So, what’s the harm in activating her magic and accepting her place as a warrior?

Everything.

Justice hasn’t been properly served by the House of Seven in a long time.

Not until now.

Goodreads

An intriguing and magical start to a new series!

“The truth that binds all things is the ultimate way to protect magic, but first it must be discovered.”

Liv, a character that I see a lot of myself in, has basically isolated herself from her family and the House of Seven. Her parents death did not rest well with her and when she felt enough wasn’t being done to investigate it further she abdicated her birthright and is living among the mortals. When her brother and sister are murdered she is brought back into the House of Seven to take back her birthright and be a Warrior. She does so but under her conditions (you go girl!). Her magic is reinstated but she is out of practice. She decides to get her own training as something just isn’t right at the House. During her training she still has to go on her missions, she has a crazy talking cat that knows just a little too much about everything, and a giant that sees the good in her and helps her through her magic and missions.

The world building is great and the story line is fun and a bit chaotic! A perfect mixture for an urban fantasy thrill ride! Funny punch lines and goofy characters bring it all together. As she completes her mission even more questions arise. And she now questions other people’s loyalties as well. The question now is who is protecting who?

Michael Anderle
Michael Anderle (ok, weird talking about myself in the 3rd person) (1967-Hopefully a long time from NOW) was born in Houston, Tx. A very curious child, he got into trouble – a lot. What to do with an inquisitive mind when he was grounded? Read!

Ok, done with all of that 3rd person stuff.

In the first 20 years, I mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years I have enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, I’ve been blessed with creating The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling, and fan loved, collection of stories.

The fans have propelled these stories beyond my wildest imagination and they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street. They are fantastic!

Exploration: Age of Expansion - A Kurtherian Gambit Series (The Ghost Squadron, #2)

Kill the bad guys. Save the Galaxy. All in a hard day’s work.

Eddie and Julianna are hell bent on tracking down Vas and making him pay for his crimes. He’s armed and dangerous, and to make matters worse, he’s on the hunt for a devastating weapon that could bring destruction to the Federation and all its people.

Someone has to stop him.

Eddie and Julianna, along with her trusty E.I. named Pip, must seek out the expertise of specialists who can break into the enemy’s network. That’s the key to beating Vas. They’ll also need more pilots and better ships.

But as Ghost Squadron grows, so do the dangers on the fringe of Federation space. They still don’t know who is behind all the attacks—the one pulling the Brotherhood’s strings—but no matter what, they’re going to bring this faceless enemy down.

Whatever it takes.

Experience this exciting military sci-fi saga and the latest addition to the expanded Kurtherian Gambit Universe. If you’re a fan of Mass Effect, Firefly, or Star Wars, you’ll love this riveting new space opera.

Whatever needs to get done, will get done! I am really engaged in this series. The first book had me hooked at the beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed Exploration with all the crazy stunts and gadgets that the crew continues to get. There are lots of over the top stunts and it is very action packed which, if you are like me, will keep you glued to a book. The difference between this book and the previous is that there are a bunch of “smaller” type missions that the crew has to carry out to gather more intel and additional crew members. While these kept me on my toes I felt it was missing a little something with the buildup of the “big” mission. The crew members are all different and the witty banter between them all is incredible. The writing is awesome and the world building, or space building, is incredible. You can feel how close the crew are coming together and being more of a family unit. I am in no way discouraged about how the series will continue and am jumping into the next book soon. I can’t wait to see what happens with this rag tag Ghost Squadron and the crazy stunts that they are sure to get in to!

Formation: Age of Expansion - A Kurtherian Gambit Series (The Ghost Squadron, #1)

Kill the bad guys. Save the Galaxy. All in a hard day’s work.

After ten years of wandering the outer rim of the galaxy, Eddie Teach is a man without a purpose. He was one of the toughest pilots in the Federation, but now he’s just a regular guy, getting into bar fights and making a difference wherever he can. It’s not the same as flying a ship and saving colonies, but it’ll have to do.

That is, until General Lance Reynolds tracks Eddie down and offers him a job. There are bad people out there, plotting terrible things, killing innocent people, and destroying entire colonies.

Someone has to stop them.

Eddie, along with the genetically-enhanced combat pilot Julianna Fregin and her trusty E.I. named Pip, must recruit a diverse team of specialists, both human and alien. They’ll need to master their new Q-Ship, one of the most powerful strike ships ever constructed.  And finally, they’ll have to stop a faceless enemy so powerful, it threatens to destroy the entire Federation.

All in a day’s work, right?

Experience this exciting military sci-fi saga and the latest addition to the expanded Kurtherian Gambit Universe. If you’re a fan of Mass Effect, Firefly, or Star Wars, you’ll love this riveting new space opera.

Black Ops, Sci Fi, Space Opera that sucks you in from the very beginning! I have not read any of the books that go along with this but if you are a lover of the fast paced, action packed, and the crazy characters that go with this type of thing then this is the book for you! Right from the beginning there is a scuffle with some of our main characters. But this is only the start. Our outcast, Eddie, used to be in the Federation but is now doing his own thing but still stands up for what he believes in. He is recruited to do some black ops type of work that involves stopping some bad guys that are doing bad things. He is paired up with Julianna and both are badass! They have been given an opportunity to recruit some diverse people to help them stop this quiet war and save some innocents. But nothing they do is going to be “normal”. Two of the recruits are of a different alien race and how they come upon them is nothing but out of the ordinary. The banter between all of them, during conflicts and when they are relaxing, is so fun! I kind of imagine these stories being a cross between Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy. There is never a dull moment with this team and I doubt there ever will be. I am looking forward to seeing what else the Ghost Squadron come up against. Must read!
