#wotr #attendingauthor #partofaseries #mma #shifters Decision (Hallow Brothers 8) by Tricia Andersen

Kai is having visions, and they are robbing her of her sleep. In her mind, she sees the seven mangled bodies of the Hallow Brothers. Although she is accused of having a bad dream, she knows the truth. The end is near and she is about to lose the man she loves. Although the Hallows are complete and together, they are still under attack from the evil powers around them. The vampires’ influence on the people around them has almost become too much to handle. The book is deciphered and Eve finds the formula that the brothers have been waiting their whole lives for – the elixir that makes them human. Maya brings her friend, Namina, into the family to formulate the potion, and a sudden connection forms between her and the good doctor, Noah. When one of their own is taken, it forces the brothers to face evil to restore their family. As Kai’s prediction becomes a frightening reality, will the Hallows survive or will her vision come true?

Review by Twinsie Dee

i bought this book here is my honest review

We are back at the Hallow family compound and it’s trashed from the vampire raid that just happened. the family is in disbelief, but also the family has gotten bigger with the newest members. while momma watches her grandchildren the brothers and their mates start cleaning up, while more crazy things are happening that none of them can explain yet, but while the crazy is happening, they are slowly figuring out what the 3 items, that connect together and why all the creatures really want them. will they be able to figure this out and possibly break the curse that they were born with or are they forever bound to the moon. its the Hallow’s verse the world and they are always ready for a fight when it comes to protect their family.  oh when you havent been in this world for the longest time you honestly forget how much you love them, and Sharky is still my favorite character he needs his own book, (cough, cough, wink, wink)

Julie Navickas

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Julie Navickas and I’m an author of contemporary romance. I started writing my debut novel during the COVID-19 pandemic; what started as a creative outlet turned into a full-fledged secondary career! I have a trio of books traditionally published with Inkspell Publishing called the Trading Heartbeats trilogy. I’m now proud to call myself an award-winning and best-selling author! In 2024, I’ll release three more called the Clumsy Little Hearts trilogy.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

I definitely think the second, third, etc. books are more difficult to write when drafting a series. I focus very closely on character arcs; this becomes a challenge when the character arcs span the length of several novels. Not to mention, it’s hard to keep track of all the tiny plot details along the way!

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

The best advice I can offer is to simply build writing time into the day. I write best in the evening hours, so I look at my writing time as a reward. With the right mentality, writing doesn’t have to become emotionally draining or painful. It’s just fun and something to look forward to after a long day!

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

Most days I commit 1-2 hours to my manuscript.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

I sure do! My favorite character to date is Austin Templeton. Austin’s primary story is told in my second novel, I Love You Today, but he also appears in I Loved You Yesterday and I’ll Love You Tomorrow (mostly to stir up trouble!). Austin started out as a secondary character and quickly became something more. He’s a successful career-man with a past; he’s witty and charming and I’ve been told he’s a fan-favorite from readers, too.

Shanna Pikora

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Shanna Pikora – I am a biologist by trade but am a writer at heart. My genres vary greatly from sweet and spicy romance to dark and twisted fantasy. I have a baby girl, two cats, and a husband! I’ve always wanted to visit Scotland and each of my romance stories feature a black cat!

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

Others after it, so many details to track!

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I like to mix up the main characters and points of view. That way readers can see secret details the main characters aren’t aware of.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Don’t force it. I’ve tried to “power through” when I emotionally drained or in a bad mental state and my writing never works out well – which just adds to my negativity pile. Find your joy, write what you love, and don’t let anyone take that ray of inspiration from you!

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA….We don’t talk about Bruno….

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

I do…but SPOILERS – as the book isn’t published yet!

What is your definition of success?

Reaching a goal and enjoying the journey there! Double success if you learned something new!

Do you have anything you want to share that didn’t fit on one of these questions?

I can’t wait to see everyone at WOTR! I love meeting new people and getting to meet new authors!

What are your social links?

I’m Shanna Pikora or Shanna Pikora Author on a variety of social media — which I always forget to post on! XD Oh…and I do publish under my pagan name as well – Fae Lynn!

#WOTR24 #attendingauthor #Authorspotlight -Amanda Zook

Amanda Zook

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

I’m Amanda Zook. I’m originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania but now live in southwest Michigan on the shore of Lake Michigan. I write romantic suspense and have had a passion for reading and writing romances since middle school.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

I think the later books in the series are what I’ve been struggling with most lately. Especially since readers have gotten to know the characters throughout the series and as an author you don’t want to disappoint the readers and not do one of their favorite characters justice in their own book.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I just write the story that comes to me. I don’t think about whether its fresh enough.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Find some support. Either your family or other authors. Plenty of author groups out there to participate in.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

I try to get around 5 hours a day. Sometimes more. More often less.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

I think Finch from my latest release is my favorite. His story was tough, but I liked his little quirks (he loves gummy worms and always has a bag of them in his pocket).

What is your definition of success?

I don’t really have one for myself. I didn’t set out to do this for the money or fame. I just wanted to finally write my books. People reading/recognizing me is just an added bonus.

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

I’m Lainey Davis and I live in Pittsburgh with 3 feral sons, 2 rescued rabbits, and 1 tired husband. I’m obsessed with the steel city and set all my books here. I write steamy contemporary romance that’s hot, heartwarming, and often hilarious. I’m excited to figure out how much coffee is too much.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

First book is so difficult! You need to hook readers into the new world. It’s really hard.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I’m usually writing right up until deadline, so a lot of my books pull from current events or things happening around me. That always feels really fresh to me. When a sink hole opens up in Pittsburgh and swallows a city bus, that will show up in a book a few months later.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

I don’t write every day or even every week! I build mental rest into my schedule so I have time to calm down in between books.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

On writing days, about two hours of actual keyboard clicking but a lot of time pondering, walking around my living room, talking to my pets about plot points …

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

Ty Stag is just a perennial favorite of mine. He’s a huge teddy bear and he LOVES his June-bug.

What is your definition of success?

A reader emailed me a photo of a tattoo she got inspired by my book. That’s pretty much the pinnacle of success for an author.

#WOTR24 #attendingauthor #Authorspotlight -Valerie Twombly

Valerie Twombly

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

I write steamy paranormal romance and paranormal romcom. I love chocolate but my weakness is ice cream. Give me a bowl loaded with the goods and I am one happy camper! I live in northern IL with my hubby and our dog Cooper. He is spoiled rotten, (Cooper, not the hubby lol).

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

All of them! Seriously, it depends on the series but a lot of the time, it’s the books after the first that are harder. I often have to go back and look things up because, like why did I not think to write that piece of information down???

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I really have no idea how I do it. It’s like magic that I can’t explain. I have learned over the years to not fight whatever wants to come out. Roll with it because my gut is always right.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Take care of yourself!!! Burnout is real and if you do not do things that refill your creative well, you will one day reach burnout. Do what makes you happy. Walking, reading, binge watch a series. It does not matter what the activity is as long as it fills your creativity. Take time off between books. Don’t let others dictate your career. You do you and you will be happy.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

I work a full-time job (I know, yucky!). That said, I write in the morning for maybe 30-45 minutes. Weekends I might spend an hour or two and if I have the creative energy, I might do a little in the evenings.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

Argh! Why do you guys always ask this of us??? I love them all, of course and I refuse to pick just one. So, my favorite couple to write was Derrick and Hailey in Rescue Me. Those two had chemistry from page one and I swear I had to take a lot of cold showers. Whew! Hades has been my favorite male character. He is so pissy. My favorite female has been Sabrina, from A Vampire’s Midlife Crisis. That was my first romcom and Sabrina is so much of me. Snarky, witty and often engages her mouth before she thinks. I adore writing her!

What is your definition of success?

Readers keep coming back for more. I love every single email or social media post asking when the next book in series x, y, z, will be coming out. I wish I could write faster.

#WOTR24 #attendingauthor #Authorspotlight #eventsponsor -A.D. Ellis/ Dove Daniels

A.D. Ellis

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Hi! I’m A.D. Ellis. I write addictive, sexy, emotional Male/Male romance. I also have a handful of short, steamy, dirty, and flirty MF romance titles published under the pen name Dove Daniels. I’m a mom of two teens and a teacher/instructional coach in the inner city of Indianapolis. I’ve lived in Indiana my whole life. When I’m not working or writing, I love to read.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

I think it’s a toss-up. Sometimes the first is easy because it just flows and the ones after it are harder because they’re trying to live up to book 1. On the other hand, sometimes book 1 is harder because you’re getting to know the characters and the other books come easier because they’re like old friends you’ve known forever.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

For me, all of my series focus on different couples within that shared world, so it’s pretty easy to keep things fresh with a new couple in each book.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Take care of yourself. Period. If you don’t have it right now, you just don’t have it. And that’s okay.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

About an hour in the morning.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

I can’t choose just one! 🙂

What is your definition of success?

That varies so widely for me. Hour-by-hour, day-to-day, full-time job, part-time writing, parenting, relationships, etc. They all have varying goals and levels of success.

Do you have anything you want to share that didn’t fit on one of these questions?

Just that I absolutely adore the mission of this event and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the readers I’ve come to think of as friends thanks to WOTR. Thank you for reading. Thank you for taking a chance on my books. Thank you for giving me a reason to get these stories out of my head.

#WOTR24 #attendingauthor #Authorspotlight – C.J. Baty

C.J. Baty

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

C.J. Baty
Writing and reading have always had a place in my heart and mind. I began writing stories when I was in middle school, then went on to make up stories when I was a new mom for my kids. It was my adult son who encouraged me to write stories for Fan Fiction which led to an Indie Publisher and then being an Indie author. It’s amazing to me that folks like to read my stories, so I keep on writing.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

As I am in the process of writing book 7 of the Pinkerton Man Series, I’d have to say the books that come after the first one. Characters grow and change. Keeping their stories rich and meaningful is difficult as new books come along.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

The setting is a good place to keep things fresh. Changing locations can bring an entirely different experience for the MC which in turn gives the readers something new and I get to play with additional characters that come along.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

There are so many answers to this question. For me, it’s my local writing pals. Authors who live near where I live who have a need for friendship and accountability. We gather once or twice a week (Sometimes even more) to encourage and hash out plot ideas. It’s made a huge difference in my writing.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

Honestly, my life has been so full with, my aging parents and adult children moving home, writing every day just doesn’t happen as often as I would like. BUT, when I am writing it can last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours in one long burst of energy.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

I have several favorites but all time I would have to say Lizzie Ferguson from the Pinkerton Man Series. She is someone I’d like to be. Now that she’s has her own story(s), I’m enjoying her antics even more.

What is your definition of success?

Meeting readers who enjoy my books. Sure, I’d love to make a lot of money, but I don’t see that as success. Knowing my stories touched someone’s heart means the most to me.

Do you have anything you want to share that didn’t fit on one of these questions?

Go to book events! it is one of the best ways to meet those who love books and love sharing them with you. Authors love to meet people who have read their books. Signing events can be such fun. Writers on the River is one of the best.

#WOTR24 #attendingauthor #Authorspotlight – S.J. Chaynie

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is S.J. Chaynie, I was born and raised in a tiny town in Texas. I have been married for fourteen years and have two beautiful daughters. I recently found I enjoy writing just as much as reading, so I decided to give it a go and it turns out it’s just the escape I need to keep me from losing my sanity. I cannot live a day without sweet tea and my favorite show of all time is the Golden Girls. I’m also a true crime girl. My husband is currently building our dream home so for the last year I have been writing my books on the fly or in my “office” which consists of two TV trays shoved together to hold my computer. Life is busy and unpredictable, but I love every second with my family that supports my “dirty” books and the friends I have made in the book community. It really is the best!

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

I would say the others after because remembering what I already wrote sometimes throws me for a loop! Ha!

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I try to write tropes that people want to read and I want to challenge myself to try things out that I’ve never written.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Write when you feel like it. Don’t force it. Sometimes the words just aren’t there. Sometimes you have to take a step back and work on another project, or do some reading. The inspiration will come and that’s when you roll with it.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

It depends. Some days I don’t write at all and other days I may spend an hour or two. Whatever fits my schedule that day. I have a full time job and I’m a mom soooooo…. you get it!

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

My favorite character I have written is Easton Roy. He’s the main male character in my most recent release. Most of my books have the element of “staying away” as where Easton’s character is the opposite. He’s actively trying to win the Elle’s heart. Plus he’s a girl dad and he’s just swooonnny. He’s just a genuine character that you can’t help but love.  **Twinsie Angie also is in love with Easton Roy for that book**

What is your definition of success?

In the book world, I would say success is making a connection to people. Knowing that something you created reached the heart of someone else.

Do you have anything you want to share that didn’t fit on one of these questions?

It makes me SO happy when a reader lets me know they enjoyed my book.
