#WOTR20 #AuthorSpotlight – Harley Easton

Harley Easton

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Harley Easton – I dabble in a little of everything life offers – reading, writing, singing, acting, cosplaying, board gaming, generally being a nerd. All are great ways to make my insanity seem a little more normal. I have two fur-babies I specialize in erotic, romantic, and speculative fiction, writing and editing independently and for small press publishers. Who knows what kind of trouble I’ll get into next.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

It sounds silly, but I absolutely need a glass of ice nearby. Nothing in it, just ice. I’ll usually write with some instrumental music in the background, but I can crash anywhere to scribble down a few lines.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

The connections you make. I love meeting readers, authors, and organizers. Book people are usually really awesome, so I love walking away with new friends.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Right now, I’d love to meet Jim Butcher or Jane Yolan. Both of them are masters at manipulating folk-lore, fairy elements, and superstition into beautiful stories.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

Consistency is hard for me. Luckily my family and friends are really supportive and let me spend hours in the writing cave when I have a project.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

The day my mom asked to read my book and my dad told me he was proud I was a writer.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

I have the copy of Maguerite de Angeli’s Book of Nursery and Mother Goose Rhymes that my aunt let me pour over for hours when I was a child. Not only does it remind me of her every time I see it, the gorgeously illustrated book is what first sparked my love of reading. It got me interested in fairy tales and folk-lore – a life-long obsession of mine that still seeps into my reading and writing.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

I can’t have any distractions or loud noises, except for the headphones blasting either theme scores or hybrid trailer music.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

I love meeting new people and seeing friends.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Oh, this is a hard question. I have a few of them. If I had pick just one, I’d go with Jeaniene Frost.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I try to write every single day, but the times vary with my work hours.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

My favorite memory was the first email from a reader. Getting fan mail of any kind makes your day.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

My most prized possession is a signed copy of Dark Lover by J.R. Ward. She’s one of my top five authors. Meeting her was amazing.

#WOTR20 #AuthorSpotlight – Golden Czermak

Golden Czermak

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Golden Czermak. In the beginning, I worked the standard corporate rat race, completed college for a Chemical Engineering Degree, and began a small photography company on the side back in 2012.

Since then, and the growth of the FuriousFotog brand, I became an internationally published modeling & fitness photographer with over two million social media followers and eventually began working as a book cover model. Being in the photography and indie publishing industry, I’ve interfaced and networked with countless authors, publishers, and other clients. As part of my work as a photographer, I’ve worked with them to create book cover images – now numbering well over 1000 that have been licensed.

Learning the ins and out of the book world, along with being an avid reader and storyteller myself, I finally decided to write and publish my first book, Homeward Bound, in June 2016. From there. the rest is history

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

I love to write in my office, listening to instrumental music to set the mood of the scene.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

The number one thing I love about events is meeting readers, authors, and the networking they present.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Stephen King

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I get to it when I can, balancing photography and travel schedules.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Publishing my very first book on June 6, 2016

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

#WOTR20 #AuthorSpotlight – Melanie Jayne/M. Jayne

M. Jayne

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Melanie Jayne/M. Jayne– I’m a bitch, I’m a lover, I’m a child…well you get the picture. I spend my days creating women that I want to hang with, men that I want to do all kinds of dirty, filthy things to, and my nights tending to my dog and long-suffering hubby on our grain farm in Indiana. I write Paranormal Romance featuring the Novus Pack and Contemporary Seasoned Romance. I live to write and must write to live. I like my pizza with lots of cheese, my music loud, and my friends to have foul mouths and if you love trashy TV like the Real Housewives or Steve Wilkos— Let’s be friends. My life is never dull– I’m not for everybody but I am entertaining.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

Dog out/dog in, laundry started, candle lit, music on- each book has a playlist, Hint Watermelon water if it is a Novus book, Coffee, and Dove milk chocolate.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

The planning of the table, packing up the stuff, the excitement in the room as we are all setting up, the anticipation before the doors open and THE READERS!!!! Seeing old friends and Making new ones. We all the same in common- we love to read!

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Anne Perry (yes, I will go to Scotland) and Patricia Briggs

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I try to write every day but Tuesday. If it isn’t flowing then I stop. I write 2.5-3 hours a day and usually in the morning, sometimes between 2-5 in the afternoon if my characters are talking to me. I edit in long stretches because the first round fixes are so difficult.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

At Kristen Ashley’s Rock Chick Weekend in Indianapolis. Singling along to Pearl Jam’s song, Black. Everybody was on the dance floor with our arms around one another. She brought us all together and it was a magical night. There also might be a few other stories that I can’t put in writing but they involve Cowboy Cocksuckers( Google it– it’s a drink) and shenanigans.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

I have a book from my childhood, Christmas in a Small Village, that my mom would read to me every year, until I could read, and then I did it. I still get it out every year and read it.

#WOTR20 #AuthorSpotlight – Jennifer Daniels

Jennifer Daniels

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Jennifer Daniels. I’m from Upstate, NY and live in the Adirondack Mountains with my husband and son. I write fantasy/romance with a lot quirky moments. I love Harry Potter and could watch it every weekend if allowed to.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

I usually sit in my rocker recliner when I’m writing. I need it to be pretty quiet and need only something to drink nothing specific.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting new readers and writer’s.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Katerina Martinez, Yasmine Galenorn, Linda Boulanger, Karpov Kinrade and many, many more.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

Nope, I’m not consistent at all. The mood has to strike me or I just zone out on the screen.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

I had a fan bring their own books they purchased of mine to sign last year at WOTR. It was cool.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

#WOTR20 #AuthorSpotlight – C.E. Johnson

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

I’m C.E. Johnson but you can call me Carrie! I’ve lived in the middle of cornfields and in the Windy City. I like both for different reasons so I settled somewhere in between the two. However, the older I get the more I miss the country. I spent a whole lot of money on a Master’s degree in Communications, only to discover my love for writing novels after I graduated. It’s an expensive piece of paper, but it’s mine and I’m proud of it. I’m a wife, mama, dog lover, coffee addict, and night writer.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

Sweet tea or coffee is a must. I write the best at my desk in my office. Sadly, its next to the playroom so I’ve gotten really good at writing while hearing “Bro! I just re-spawned! What are you doing? BROOOOO!” In case you don’t understand that, I live in a house full of gamers. It gets interesting.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting readers! It’s so surreal that readers want me to sign their books. When I meet the readers, it really fires me up to go write more!

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Kristen Ashley! I love some Colorado Mountain Men!

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I’m a sit and go girl. I used to try to sit down for a long period of time and get the words in. But now, I’ve found that I really enjoy writing for small spurts throughout the day. I can write for awhile, then take a break. (Ha! Did I just say break? I meant go do laundry, dishes, or scrub a toilet. Ah, motherhood!) And when I come back, new ideas have usually come to me.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

My very first signing I had a reader who drove an hour and a half just to meet me. I was the entire reason she came to the signing. That is still pretty surreal to me.

#WOTR20 #AuthorSpotlight #5YearFamily – Jennifer Laslie

Jennifer Laslie

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Jennifer Laslie and I currently live in Layton, UT where I get to look at the mountains every single day!

Last December I made a huge leap by moving here from Louisville, KY. I’m happily married with two children and I’m sort of a crazy cat lady. We have five cats that rule our house and two dogs that try to stay out of their way.

I write both Young Adult and Paranormal Romance. When I’m not working or writing, you can find me at the bookstore with a coffee in hand or out hiking a trail in the Utah wilderness.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

I’ve got to have something to drink, whether it’s water, a mixed rum drink, or coke and amaretto. My office has a big overstuffed chair and ottoman that I get settled in. I pull up Spotify for some light background noise and let my favorite songs play on shuffle. I try to remind my kids to leave me alone, but it doesn’t always work out that way. They’re 13 and 19 and you’d think they’d learn to listen to me by now, but nope!

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

I love meeting both readers and authors. These events usually give me an opportunity to see author friends I generally only ever chat with online. I also get excited when I have readers come up to my table that know of me, and have read something of mine, but then they gush about how much they love it and it makes my day!

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

I’d love to meet Jacqueline Carey. She is my all time favorite author! I do have a signed UK edition paperback of one of her books that I won online when she used to do giveaways on Facebook a long time ago. It is my most prized autographed book!

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I do not have to be at work until 9:30am MST. My alarm goes off at 6:30am every morning. I wake up, get ready for the day and get settled into my writing chair in my office with a coffee next to me. Because I work from home, I can utilize every minute up until 9:30 and then walk over to my desk to clock in for work. If I don’t have anything pressing in the evenings, I’ll eat dinner, watch a TV show with my husband, and if I’ve got the energy, I’ll try to write some more. If not, I’ll veg out and know that tomorrow I can tackle the word count.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Can I name two memories? Yes? Please? Okay!

The first is when I wrote my novel Mermaid Adrift for a boxed set, Sirens and Scales. The box set hit #89 on the USA Today Bestsellers List right smack dab in between Stephen King and Janet Evanovich.

My second is getting accepted as a client for Rebecca Frank. She is a phenomenal cover artist and she is the one who has designed all of the covers for my Unfortunate Spells series.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

Refer back up to my favorite author. My most prized possession is an autographed copy of one of Jacqueline Carey’s books. I have all of her Kushiel’s Legacy series, but they are all the hardback editions from the US. The one I have signed from her is Naamah’s Kiss and it’s the UK cover in paperback.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

Typically when I write I like it to be quiet. If I hear music, I will sing along. It’s a downfall. lol.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting new people! I think it’s amazing to connect with people that I may not have gotten the chance to before.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

OMG there are so many. I would say Carian Cole. She has listened to me whine since I started writing and never once complained. She is always so helpful and such a sweetheart.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I have a specific spot in my room. I call it my bubble corner. I like to live there. haha

#WOTR20 #5YearFamily #AuthorSpotlight – JM Walker

J.M. Walker

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

J.M. Walker – Oh gosh. I hate talking about myself. I’m married with 2 furbabies. I love coffee, peanut butter and beer. Oh and cookies. Not all in that order. Horror movies are my jam. I HATE romance movies but love writing them. Go figure right?

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

Just music. I also love writing at Starbucks too. I can bang out a couple thousand words in like 2 hours there. Apparently the noise helps.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting readers!!!! And getting to know my fellow authors.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

I’ve met most of the people who attend WOTR. As for the new authors attending, I haven’t read any of them. 🙁

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

Nope. No schedule. I’m all over the place which works well for me.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Honestly? Meeting so many readers and authors. This has been a crazy ride. One that I never expected to be on and while it’s been challenging at times, I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

Broken Scars – It took me 6 years to write and release it. I lived an breathed that thing. Lucas Crane will always be apart of me and I can’t wait to revisit him and see how he’s doing.

Dahlia Rose..USA Bestselling Author, mother to her horde, wife to a honorable veteran, ACF certified Chef, lover of all things Halloween and I make a hell of a cheesecake.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

I’m a big sci-fi junkie. I watch LORT, Dr. Who or the Syfy channel as background when I write. Supernatural is a definite go to and I’m a chips and dip type of snacker.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting the readers hearing about their lives. I write a lot of military romance so I get veterans or spouses who come out to see me. We share stories and I know what they are going through. I always have some kind of resource I can offer. I like meeting other authors and seeing their lives as well.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?
