Kenzie King is starting over. She’s officially single and the last thing she expected was the massive settlement her ex-husband offered her. After a lot of coaxing from a friend she books a monthlong getaway to clear her head. It might be the first spontaneous thing she’s ever done. She has until the Fourth of July to figure out what she’s doing next. The only thing she knows for sure is that it doesn’t involve falling in love again anytime soon.

Having a little fun can’t hurt, right?

Levi James has never been lucky in love. He’s always had his head stuck in a book or focused on his work. Until he learned what was important to him and moved home to be with his family and to run their bar, the Fainting Goat. He’s where he belongs and looking to settle down. A copper-haired beauty is the first woman in a long while to catch his eye. She’s new in Lake Hunnington and only around for a month.

Nothing wrong with a little fling, right?

When sparks fly can they keep their fling just fun?

Review by Twinsie Angie

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

This novella is everything you want for a short, quick read on a cold and dreary day.  Gah I wanted to read by the pool and instead I’m reading with a hoodie …in JUNE!!  Crazy!

This novella is a short read with so many possibilities for future books and I am here for them.  Sam and Grady will be a delicious read for another day.  But this book is about nerdy, hot bartender Levi and recently divorced Kenzie who quits her job and runs to the beautiful lake for the summer.  She needs to figure things out and figures them right in to the hot bartender’s bed…wiggle eyes.

The book is a jump through the summer where we are seeing scenes from Kenzie and her time with Levi, Sam, and her bestie Devin.  We see the start of something more with Levi which FREAKS Kenzie out.  She must make some decisions about her life and possible love before the end of the month.

I liked the novella and how it jumped through time.  We get to see the relationship develop and we see her building bonds with people which makes the thought of leaving tough.  I loved the end and the resolution and hope for more quick reads from the other side characters as well.

Britni Hill is a new adult and contemporary romance author. She spends her days as a hair stylist, and her nights with the characters in her head striving to write real, page turning romance.

Britni lives in Indiana where she was born and raised. She has a rescue pup she adores and an unhealthy love of binging on cheesy, teenage dramas. If she isn’t writing, she’s reading or watching horror flicks with her boyfriend.
