Savage Angels MC collections Books 1-9

This is the first time reading a Kathleen Kelly book.  I picked the book set because hello MC and Rocker combined how could you go wrong.  The series starts with Dane the president of the MC and Kat the singer of a rock band. The thing I liked about these books was that we go so many POV.  Each book did not just focus on the hero/heroine but we got a little from other people involved in the MC, the band or the town people.  I liked how each book lead into the next and there was overlap in each book.

There are so many twist and turns in each of these books.  I questioned some of the characters but things turned out well for all involved even if it wasn’t what I wanted to happen.  I enjoyed reading about all the MC guys and their women, the band members and how they deal with everything and the towns people and how they react to the MC.

I have not read a book that gives you so many character POV from the first book to the last. I will say sometimes I would get lost in who’s POV it was I would take a second to remember who was talking.  I didn’t want to put this book down once I started it and sometimes, I didn’t realize another book started. It kept my interest and I needed to know what was going to happen next.

I loved all the characters in these books.  OK well not ALL of them. There was just so much going on between the MC, the band, and the towns people, including the sheriff. I enjoyed this series so far and cannot wait the next two books to come out.

#WOTR24 #attendingauthor #authorspotlight – MariaLisa deMora

MariaLisa deMora

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

MariaLisa deMora:
Raised in the south, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling Author MariaLisa deMora learned about the magic of books at an early age. Every summer, she would spend hours in the local library, devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a book-a-holic, she says “I’ve always loved to read, but then I discovered writing, and found I adored that, too. For reading…if nothing else is available, I’ve been known to read the back of the cereal box.”

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

The ones that follow are by far the more difficult. While the characters have had a chance to solidify themselves, it’s up to the author to ensure that all future interactions remain true to the developed voices.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

Music. Music is my go-to for inspiration. When starting a new story I’ll scroll until I find something that tugs at my brain, then stick with that song until I need something different. One time, I listened to Baby Shark on repeat for nearly a week! Whatever is needed to get the job done.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Listen to your heart and brain when writing your characters and stories. The more outside voices get involved, the harder it is to remain true to the internal vision. And allow yourself time to process the emotions dug up by the scenes and interactions on the pages as you write. Be true to yourself first. I think Robert Frost encapsulated it best with his statement of “no tears in the writer, no tears in the reader.”

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

Anywhere from 30 minutes to 14 hours, depending on the voices in my head.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

One character comes to mind. Gunny is a biker in one of the MC series I’ve written, and the first time he entered the scene he stole it from the actual main character. Then he hijacked a good part of the rest of the book. By the time I’d spent about 10 weeks writing the book “Jase” (note that’s not Gunny’s name), I realized he really needed to have his own book. So I then spent about 2 weeks doing surgery on the manuscript, carefully culling the things that developed Gunny’s character out and setting it aside. Then, of course, Gunny’s book was the next published. Since then he hasn’t been quiet long. Oh no! Not Gunny! He’ll pop into a book without warning and I know we’re about to be off to the races as I try (emphasis on TRY) to control him. Right now he’s begging for another novella, and I’ll probably give in at some point. Just to shut him up, if for no other reason!

What is your definition of success?

Satisfaction in the end product. It’s not about getting letters, even if I do use the Wall Street Journal and USA Today information on my covers. It’s about turning out a story that speaks to me. I know if I love it, then readers will too.

Do you have anything you want to share that didn’t fit on one of these questions?

For me, the connections made with readers at events are part of the joy of writing. Even though I’m not very outgoing, meeting readers and listening to their take on my stories — what it meant to them — is a very important facet of being an independent author. I have so many fans-to-friends folks that the books brought into my life, giving me a much richer tapestry of support to draw upon, I cannot imagine not going to events.

#wotr #attendingauthor #smalltownromance Back to You (Starlight Harbor 2) by Bria Quinlan

A prodigal daughter…

Vivian Breck left town years ago after she and her first love “took a break.” With a not-so-secret baby on the way and a mother who was anything but understanding, she left Starlight Harbor to make sure her little one had nothing but love when he was born.

A first love never forgotten…

Camden Ross never got over losing Vi in high school and now that she’s back, he’ll do anything to win her—and her son—over. He’s got family on the brain and there’s only two people who can fill that hole in his heart.

Love never dies…

When the notorious Ms. Angie and her sidekick puppy Captain Jack Slickpaws wreck the town sleigh, Vivian needs to work side-by-side with Cam to repair it before the next Starlight Harbor vintage weekend or risk losing the state heirloom to a museum who is threatening to play finders-keepers. With the town’s history on the line, why is she having trouble focusing past the cut forearms woodworking first love?

WARNING: The Starlight Harbor series is a collection of quirky, fast-fall romances. You may start as enemies, but this novellete series means you’ll end up as more — Also, you’ll have to battle the town lairds (yes, plural), a troublemaking pup, and the women who seem to think there’s a 1900s war.

i bought this book and here is my honest opinion

Vivian left town when her and her first love broke up, she needed to not only keep herself safe but her baby she was keeping a secret. but now she’s back home in Starlight Harbor and is running the local garage and living next door to an ex from her past. When Ms. Angie lets her sidekick Captain Jack hit the emergency brake on the towns famous sleigh that is used at all the holiday events, its forcing Vivian and Cam to have to work together to get this staple in town back in prefect shape on a short time frame. How will Vivian going to handle her feelings and heart, but also her son’s heart and wanting to have that male figure in his life. Vivian’s life is already so busy and a little complicated she wasn’t about to add a relationship into the mix. but will her heart and head both agree? omg i just love this little town and all the characters, but Captain Jack is by far the best.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

Right now, I’m working on book 4 in my Supernatural Desire Series, and it has been a slow go. Book 4 will be the last in this series, so it is much harder for me to write, and I think it’s because I know that I’m saying goodbye to these characters that I love so much.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

Each book in my series features a different set of main characters, yet the other characters show up in each other’s books, so I get to continue to allow the characters to grow and develop and that for me is a blast. I will also change locations and of course the situations in each book is different.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Breathe. Let the characters speak to you. And don’t push it. Your readers will feel it if it’s forced.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

Not nearly enough. lol Right now that is my biggest problem. I just never have the time I need.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

That is one of the hardest questions to answer. I love my characters so much. All of them. If I had to choose, I would say Desmond from A Vampire’s Saving Embrace. He was my first, lol. But I also love how he evolves throughout the books in a wonderful and subtle way.

What is your definition of success?

Having readers come to you and tell you that they love what you do.

#WOTR24 #Novella #Shifter #seriesStarter – The Wolf’s Darling, The Wolfe City Pack Book 1 by Sophie Stern

When Amy’s car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, she’s not exactly thrilled to have to stay the night in a small, creepy town. Wolfe City isn’t exactly “on the map,” and everyone sort of freaks her out. The way people are looking at her is like they want to devour her, and not in the physical way.

Sexually.

Amy’s never felt as much sexual tension as she has since she arrived in Wolfe City and she’s not exactly sure what to do about it.

Adam Hart has been looking for his life mate since the day he turned 18, and now he’s scented her. Amy might not be a shifter and she might not be anything like he expected, but she’s his mate. He’s positive.

He just has to convince the little human that he’s worth her time, that he’s worth her love.

*This romance takes place in the fictional town of Wolfe City and features sexy shifters and the humans who love them. HEA.*

Review by Twinsie Angie

I purchased this book based on the blurb and because I love the author.

I love a good novella.  I love the insta love that generally happens with them.  I love a good shifter story too.  So this book has all the Checks I needed to download and buy.

Adam and Amy are a fun insta love/True Mate story that all shifter readers will enjoy for a quick read one afternoon.

Amy’s car breaks down and she walks to the city motel all the while feeling like she is being watched, which of course she is!!  Adam is off on a run when he scented his true mate and is stunned when its a human woman.

The story is Amy learning to understand the shifter world and Adam trying to not to claim his mate on the street before she understands what is happening with them.

I loved the short read and see there are 2 more books I will grab for another quick read one day.

I write for sanity purposes truly. I’m not a people person so make sure to come to my table and say hi please.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

Personally I think the ones after because you need to keep all the prior stories in correct order and everything that has happened in each book.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I think out of the box and try never to repeat anything from the prior books. And believe me it’s hard but with time and patience it can be done.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

Never give up on your dreams. And do not let anyone never you down. Reach out to me I’ll help as much as I can.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

Now I would say between 3-5 hours usually unless I’m in a spot in my writing when I can stop then it’s for however long the words flow.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

That’s a very hard question. I have many of my characters I love for different reasons.

What is your definition of success?

#WOTR24 #agegap #BestFriendsDad #BDSM – Beekeeping Age by Sophie Stern

He’s older. Wiser. Hotter.
More mature.
And he’s my best friend’s dad.

Remington West is the kind of guy who can get me into a lot of trouble. He’s twenty years older than me, for one thing. He’s Anna’s dad, for another.
Still, there’s an electric energy between us that I just can’t push away.
My body doesn’t seem to care that he’s all wrong for me.
It only seems to care that he’s of beekeeping age, and I…
Well, I’m ready to be kept.

Beekeeping Age is a standalone age-gap contemporary romance.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I purchased this book based on the blurb from the author at a book signing.

First up if you don’t know Sophie can write some GOOOD Steamy reads.  I mean the Lumberjacks books is FIRE.  When I saw this blurb Iwas like NEED IT and boy am I glad I grabbed it.  But I am kinda mad it sat for a month due to life getting in the way.

Essentially Lacey sees and lusts after Anna’d dad when they are studying for a college test.  Remington sees the sassy siren but figured he won’t see her again.  When Lacey and Anna have trouble, Remington is who Lacey calls.  Remington pretty much tells Lacey right up front that she is NOT a good girl *gulp* and Lacey runs because HELLO HOTTIE DAD ALERT!!

When the stars align, and Lacey and Remington meet up again, things get alllll kinds of yummy.  Remington is so confused by his emotions and Lacey is as well.  LOL This book is a great read if you want spicey and sexy but also sweet and with an HEA.

#WOTR24 #attendingauthor #authorSpotlight – Roz Lee

Roz Lee

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Roz Lee and I’m an ex-pat Texan now living in New Jersey. I’ve been married for 45 years to my best friend. We have two wonderful daughters and three adorable grandkids. I love creating realistic characters–people you know–messing with their lives then giving them what we all want–a happy ever after.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

I think the first book in a series is the easiest to write. In all the subsequent books, you have to be careful you don’t change someone’s hair or eye color or mess up the timeline you established in the first one.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I like each book in a series to be completely different than all the others. Yes, some of the characters carry through the entire series; that’s what ties the series together, but changing the conflicts to suit the main characters of each book keeps me from getting bored out of my mind, and hopefully, it does the same for the readers.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

There’s nothing like writing The End on a story you’ve sweated bullets over. It’s a high like no other. My advice: Tell the story first, Don’t overthink it. That’s what edits are for.

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

My favorite character is Elgin Huddleston from Still Taking Chances. His name popped into my head one day. I had no idea what his story was. A few months later, my subconscious let me in on his secrets, and I put them down on paper. Elgin’s wounds run deep, and I loved every second of helping him heal.

For me, success is being happy with the life you’ve built for yourself. It’s not about money or prestige, but personal satisfaction.

This book had the perfect amount of comedy, angst, and Christmas magic. It was just what I needed to get me in the holiday spirit.

Escape into addictive, sexy, emotional M/M romance.

#WOTR24 #Review – All I Wank for Christmas: A Romantic Comedy by Tori Ross

Tori Ross, author of Contact High and The Cuffing Season Contract, is back with a laugh-out-loud holiday romance sure to jingle your nuts and roast your bells.

After a series of unfortunate events left Holly Hepperdine without an accounting job, the only way to pay bills, pay for her sister’s school, and help her sick mother is to work at the local rub and tug massage parlor, The Happy Stroke Club, making a hundred dollars a “pop.”

Jasper Nicholas is stressed to the max on Christmas Eve. His father is ill, and Jasper has to run the family’s delivery service tonight. On a whim, he stops for a quick massage, realizing too late that there are other perks of the purchased package. He indulges but can’t get the gorgeous woman with the witty banter out of his mind, even after they go their separate ways.

When Jasper comes down Holly’s chimney late on Christmas Eve, she realizes Jasper is Santa Claus’s son and tasked with delivering gifts to the world’s children. He also needs desperate help with navigation and inventory. Can Holly and Jasper keep their hands to themselves long enough to deliver the gifts?

All I Wank for Christmas is an irreverent, raucous romantic comedy standalone, sure to put you in the mood for a happy holiday season…no Happy Stroke Club needed.

Review by Twinsie Kelly

OMG, I just can’t even with this book! I laughed out loud and then had to stop and fan myself. This story will keep you on your toes!

Holly gives a handy to Santa’s son! What more is there to say??? You should literally stop reading this review and just read the book 😊

The story is a bit “over the top” but that is what makes it so great!

Jasper stops at a massage parlor thinking he could relieve some stress. He just didn’t realize the type of parlor he was going into and got so much more than he bargained for from Holly. These two have an instant attraction and both of them can’t stop thinking about each other. When Jasper searches Holly out and lets her in on the secret that he is Santa’s son, she skeptically goes along with it to deliver presents. The night is a disaster and if something can go wrong, it does. But the story and shenanigans that they get into will have you glued to this book eagerly turning to the next page.

We have all heard eleventy billion Santa stories but this one takes the cake! The characters are witty, the banter is hilarious, and the steam level continues to increase throughout the story.

I highly recommend this for a fun, but hawt, Christmas read!
