#MMRomance #Workplaceromance #Audiobook –Dearest Milton James by: N.R. Walker Narrated by: Glen Lloyd

Malachi Keogh finds himself in a job he neither wanted nor asked for when his father, boss of Sydney’s postal service, sends him to the end of the business line, aka The Dead Letter Office. Malachi expects tedious and boring but instead discovers a warehouse with a quirky bunch of misfit co-workers, including a stoic and nerdy boss, Julian Pollard.

Malachi’s intrigued by Julian at first, and he soon learns there’s more to the man than his boring clothes of beige, tan, and brown; a far cry from Malachi’s hot pink, lilac, and electric blue. Where Julian is calm and ordered, Malachi is chaos personified, but despite their outward differences, there’s an immediate chemistry between them that sends Malachi’s head—and heart—into a spin.

To keep his father happy, Malachi needs to keep this job. He also needs to solve the mystery of the pile of old letters that sits in Julian’s office and maybe get to the bottom of what makes Julian tick. Like everything that goes through the mail centre, only time will tell if Malachi has found his intended destination or if he’ll find himself returned to sender.

Malachi has messed up, again. As a result, he is being made to do “grunt work” with the postal service by his father, the postmaster general.
Malachi knows before walking into the building for the first time that under NO circumstances will he be returning here tomorrow.
Well that was until he meets his coworkers. An assorted array of characters from all walks of life who quickly work their way into his life. Some, well One, a whole lot more than the others. And well, that complicates things.
This book was absolutely beautiful. The last 2 chapters had me bawling. And as always, if you can, listen to the audio for the full experience. Glens voice is just narration perfection in my opinion.

Celebrating Pride Month with Joel Shoemaker #wotr25 #attendingauthor #pridespotlight

Happy Pride Month everyone!  Twinsie Tenise here. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who took the time to answer the questions for our pride month celebration. I had fun coming up with this years set of questions.  We will be celebrating all month with author spotlights  as well as my reviews for  some of the LGBTQIA  books I’ve read this year.  Check back daily to see what’s going  on and add to your TBR piles. I hope you enjoy getting to know a little about all of these wonderful authors and their work.

🏳‍🌈 Tell us your name and a little bit about yourself?
My name is Joel Shoemaker. My fourth book is a collection of cocktail-themed short stories and recipes called COCKTAILS & CONCATENATIONS. It joins my tooth-themed short story collection called TEETH & CRUMPETS: A FLORILEGIUM. I also have written one of the only works of fiction for teens & tweens to celebrate and affirm both faith and sexuality, called “bacon grief” and my picture book follows a gender nonconforming child to church, called SILAS ON SUNDAYS. In 2026 the follow-up, SILAS ON STAGE will publish from Wildling Press.
🏳‍🌈 What is the title of your most recent release?
Cocktails & Concatenations
🏳‍🌈 Is there a book or a movie that has helped you have a better understanding of a current or past event in LGBTQ history?
Fun question! I grew up in the 80s but I didn’t know people that actually died from AIDS, thankfully. I was just a kid. So I would say learning about that decade and even into the 90s from books and movies still shocks and saddens me. Likewise, the recent series FELLOW TRAVELERS seems to provide some detail on the Lavender Scare, I think is what it was called?
🏳‍🌈If you could have dinner with a famous person from the LGBTQ community, past or present, who would that be and why?
James Baldwin, probably. Or Harvey Milk. Or RuPaul! This is a hard choice. I will invite them all over for dinner. What a party it would be!
🏳‍🌈I can hear the complaints now. If you think 1 person is unfair please use this space for additional dinner guests and why you chose them.
Ha! See above. Hilarious.

This review, one of the very first for “bacon grief” from a teen reader still makes me so happy: “I don’t usually write reviews but for this book, I felt compelled to do so. This is by no means a linguistic masterpiece and the nontraditional format took some getting used to, but as a whole, the elements of the book came together to better tell the story. Having grown up in a conservative Catholic household and as a member of the LGBT+ community, the themes of this book hit really close to home. I’ve been struggling with my beliefs and identity again recently, and this book, given to me at a school meet and greet I almost didn’t attend, seems very much like a sign from God that I’ll be okay. Thank you, Joel Shoemaker, for that small comfort.”

#Review #MMRomance#Audiobook –Benji (The Wilde Street Boys #1) by: N.R. Walker Narrated by: Glen Lloyd

Nolan O’Brien is a public prosecutor, and if he ever sees the name Bruno Barbieri again, it will be too soon. After a long week preparing for the trial of the decade, it takes no convincing to hit the men’s club for a few drinks.
Except the club wasn’t the only thing he hit that night.

Benji Smith works on Wylde Street as a rent boy. When he’s chased by two men, he runs into the path of a moving car. With a no-cops, no-hospital policy and needing to escape the men following him, he agrees to go back to the driver’s place.

The last thing Nolan expects is to offer Benji a place to stay, to recuperate, and to lie low. And the last thing Benji expects is to be attracted to the man who saved him.
But their worlds are about to collide in a way neither of them was prepared for, and both men need to decide what’s at stake, what they’re prepared to lose, and what they’ll fight for.

Mine for now…

Hearts are going to get involved. You cannot be with someone 24/7 for an entire week with all of the sexual tension and not give into your urges. But what’s even more difficult is not letting feelings get involved once you succumb to the urges.

Benji is keeping secrets.
Nolan is catching feelings.
This arrangement is only for a week.

Ohhh boy! This book was started and finished in one sitting. I loved everything about it.  Glen is my  favorite audiobook narrator. I never tire of hearing his voice. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Celebrating Pride Month with A.D. Ellis #wotr25 #attendingauthor #pridespotlight

Hi! I’m A.D. Ellis. I’m a teacher of 26 years, a mom of two older teens (17 and almost 20!), and the author of over 50 books. I’m from Indiana (please, don’t hold that against me); I grew up in southwestern Indiana in a small farming community, and I now live in south central Indiana. I enjoy reading, writing, napping, crocheting, and taking walks on pretty days. I’m a fan of laughing over sweet red wine with friends, pizza, chocolate, and a variety of seafood. I like sushi (only the cooked kind), bookstores, new notebooks I’ll likely never use, and collecting just the right stickers to put on my laptop. I have way too many (is that even a thing?!) houseplants, and I enjoy flowering plants on my porch in the spring and summer. I recently put up bird feeders outside my kitchen window, and I love watching the different birds come to eat. To me, there is nothing better than a fun mug of hot tea (the type depends on my mood) and a good book. A close second is a cozy rainy day nap. I have 14ish tattoos, and each time I say one is the last, I end up getting another. I write romance. My oldest books are contemporary with male/female pairings (I also have the same under a pen name: Dove Daniels). Since about 2016, my books have mostly been contemporary LGBTQ romance with male/male pairings. I’m looking forward to seeing long-time readers and meeting new readers at Writers on the River in July 2025! Year 10 is WILD, and I’m so grateful I’ve been a part of this amazing signing since the beginning.
🏳‍🌈 What is the title of your most recent release?
Cake & Cocktails released in March. This is book 2 of The Men of Haven Grove (book 1 is Peaches & Cream).
🏳‍🌈 Is there a book or a movie that has helped you have a better understanding of a current or past event in LGBTQ history?
I don’t know that I can pick just one (and I’m TERRIBLE at remembering names of movies/documentaries/books/shows). The following are movies/musicals/TV shows/books that have stuck with me (and I already feel bad because I know I’ll forget about a hundred!): Angels in America The Normal Heart And the Band Played On The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson Stonewall Paris Is Burning To Wong Fu, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar Priscilla Queen of the Desert RENT Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe POSE AJ and the Queen Heartstopper This book has tons of history- The LGBT+ History Book – https://amzn.to/4jMyTFH A photograph book; maybe the most touching I’ve ever seen – Loving: A Photographic History of Men in Love – https://amzn.to/417emnV There are a lot more, but here’s a good list of movies: https://belonging.uccs.edu/lgbtq-heritage-month-movies This is a great list from OUT Magazine of movies about HIV/AIDS everyone should watch: https://www.out.com/film/movies-about-aids-hiv#rebelltitem59
🏳‍🌈 If you could have dinner with a famous person from the LGBTQ community, past or present, who would that be and why?
I’m skipping this one and going right to the next one 🙂
🏳‍🌈 I can hear the complaints now. If you think 1 person is unfair please use this space for additional dinner guests and why you chose them.
I’m not one for big parties, but I’d love to meet/talk with: Rock Hudson Marsha P. Johnson Harvey Milk Freddie Mercury James Baldwin Bayard Rustin Alan Turing Frida Kahlo Emily Dickinson Oscar Wilde Walt Whitman Elton John Ellen Degeneres RuPaul Laverne Cox There are so many more, but these are names that come to mind as folks I think would have a lot of insight, stories, advice, and information to share.
🏳‍🌈 Do you have a favorite review(s) of one of your books left by a reader? Care to share the title of the book, the review, and why this one stood out to you.
Honestly, I can’t say I have just one. I love any review that expresses how the book made a reader FEEL something. Reviews that give away a lot of the story aren’t my favorite thing 🙂 But if a reader shares how the book affected them, I love that. I’ll share a really great review of Peaches & Cream below, but all of my favorite reviews are from readers who want to live in my worlds, be friends with my characters, and closed the book after the last page with a sigh/smile/and something GOOD in their heart. 5 stars: Peaches & Cream by A.D. Ellis is a captivating MM romance set in the charming town of Haven Grove. Hudson, burdened by his past, prefers casual flings, while Lance, who has returned home after eight years, seeks more meaningful connections. Their shared history and undeniable chemistry make for a compelling friends-to-lovers story. The age gap and dynamic of Hudson being Lance’s dad’s best friend add intrigue and tension. A.D. Ellis masterfully combines steamy romance with emotional depth, creating a heartfelt and satisfying read. This book is a perfect start to The Men of Haven Grove series, offering a touching tale of love and second chances without any cliffhangers.

#Review #audiobook #MMRomance #GrumpySunshine #Standalone –On the Mountain by: Riley Hart Narrated by: Zane Daniels

One feels he’s not worthy of love. The other fears he doesn’t know how. But the sizzling chemistry between them has both tempted to explore the unknown.

Cyrus
I was intrigued by Crow at first glance. Who wouldn’t be? He’s a mountain of a man, who was raised in a cult and now lives secluded in the wilderness. But the draw I feel to him goes beyond mild interest. When his intense gaze falls my way, it feels like he can see into my soul, to my deepest yearnings and desires.

I took a bold chance venturing to his mountain uninvited. But I can’t help myself. Despite Crow’s dangerous facade, I feel at home when I’m near him. I’ve never felt wanted or needed…until the mountain man took me in his arms.

Crow
The mountain is my home, the only place that truly suits me. I reveled in my solitude…until Cyrus showed up looking as lonely as I felt. The warmth in his gaze made me welcome someone into my home and my heart when I never have before.

The way he smells. The way he feels. I come apart with his every touch. The past haunts us both. Yet when we’re together, the weight of it is manageable. Cyrus is mine, and I don’t ever want to let him go. Still, I fear that eventually he’ll want to leave the mountain, and for the first time in my life, I don’t want to be alone.

On the Mountain deals with depictions of mental illness, past substance abuse, an MC who was raised in a cult, childhood abuse/neglect and trauma. For a full list of warnings, please use the look-inside feature to read the content warning at the beginning of the book.

Riley Hart’s love of all things romance shines brightly in everything she writes. Her primary focus is Male/Male romance but under various pen names, her prose has touched practically every part of the spectrum of love and relationships. The common theme that ties them all together is stories told from the heart.

A hopeless romantic herself, Riley is a lover of character-driven plots, many with flawed and relatable characters. She strives to create stories that readers can not only fall in love with, but also see themselves in. Real characters and real love blended together equal the ultimate Riley Hart experience.

When Riley isn’t creating her next story, you can find her reading, traveling, or dreaming about reading or traveling, and spending time with her two perfectly snarky kids, and one swoon-inducing husband.

Riley Hart is represented by Jane Dystel at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret Literary Management. She’s a 2019 Lambda Literary Award Finalist for Of Sunlight and Stardust.

Crow was born and grew up in a cult created by his father who everyone referred to as Chosen. After a series of unfortunate events, he becomes an orphan. Now, as an adult, he is known by the people in the small town of Tranquility as a freak and honestly that is fine by Crow. He would rather not deal with the townsfolk but every once in a while, he is forced down the mountain for supplies. Little did he know, once he returned home from this particular trip down the mountain, his life would be forever changed.

Cyrus has been treated like a warm hole by everyone in his adult life. He doesn’t know what it feels like anymore to be loved by another human as he hasn’t felt the warmth of love since he was a child. When his mother was still alive. A brief interaction with the man he’s heard murmurings about around town has left his mind consumed with the man on the mountain and he cannot wait to “bump into” him again.

Let’s just say their next encounter isn’t as chance. Everything that follows between these 2 broken men is absolutely magical. I would definitely read and/or listen to this book again. Oh, and the narrators voice is sexy af! I will be looking for more audiobooks featuring Zane for sure!

#review #partofaseries The Perfect Couple (Nantucket 3) by Elin Hilderbrand

It’s Nantucket wedding season, also known as summer-the sight of a bride racing down Main Street is as common as the sun setting at Madaket Beach. The Otis-Winbury wedding promises to be an event to remember: the groom’s wealthy parents have spared no expense to host a lavish ceremony at their oceanfront estate.

But it’s going to be memorable for all the wrong reasons after tragedy strikes: a body is discovered in Nantucket Harbor just hours before the ceremony-and everyone in the wedding party is suddenly a suspect. As Chief of Police Ed Kapenash interviews the bride, the groom, the groom’s famous mystery-novelist mother, and even a member of his own family, he discovers that every wedding is a minefield-and no couple is perfect. Featuring beloved characters from The Castaways, Beautiful Day, and A Summer Affair, The Perfect Couple proves once again that Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of the summer beach read.

When the weekend wedding of the rich and not so rich takes place in the beautiful Nantucket and everyone is excited and ready to party. the bride and groom pushed the wedding up so that the bride’s mother could be there since her cancer diagnostic has made her long life shorter and she wanted to see her only daughter get married. but when the maid of honor is found dead on the beach this happy weekend turns into a crime scene no one wanted. Will this crime be solved, will there still be a wedding and will anyone be shocked at the outcome of the crime. loved this story the flashbacks didn’t get too confusing, but I didn’t see that ending coming.

The town folks hated having her wolves around and close to their livestock but with cameras all over her property, Gemma knew what was going on. but when a mystery man showed up claiming to be a part of the wildlife organization and claiming to have Gemma under investigation wasn’t the first time, she has heard that, but something was different about this guy and he made her feel different, she was at odds with her feelings and about him and he had feelings right back for her.

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

I am so excited to see Red has written another Training Center book.  I am even more excited to see a NEW Cast of characters while also briefly seeing our old favorites to open the center.

This story is about a recruit, Soph, who was brought as a Plus 1 to a fancy party by her bestie Gwen.  They are thick as thieves and are having a great time.  Soph who is the normal wallflower found so confidence with her sexy appearance and having a few hotties flirting helped her out.

When she makes some changes in her life, she meets a man from the party who gives her a card to call Todd Wallace…..ya know the WOLF from the old series!!!  Any who, she decided she was making new changes and embraced this chance to learn about submission from Dominants.  Of Course, she got a boast of support from BRIE but we learn the new training center is going to be the same BUT EVEN MORE EXCITING!!!  WHAT!!  I KNOW!!

Soph meets a few friends in the new class.  She also makes an enemy…darn jerks.  But she starts to learn that submission is a calling she never knew was in her heart.

I am so excited because I see so many different scenes with so many different Doms soon and I am buzzing with anticipation!!!  This book was the PERECT kick off to the new series.  We are left hanging on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens right before the first auction!!  GASP!
