I honestly don’t even know where to start with this review, SOOOOO you should probably just stop reading my review and scroll on up to one-click the buy now button. However, if you are still here, I will do my best to explain how much wow is in this story. The short version and very high level about the book is that glass blowing is being used by some amazing veterans for therapeutic purposes and one of them is murdered. The journey that Lisa goes on to learn about these veterans and the rush they are after in an attempt to quiet their demons is one that I won’t forget for a long time. Let’s face it, we all have our demons and things from our past that we want to stay there, some are definitely more traumatic than others, and some of our bodies and brains react differently to these traumas. While the story never goes into great detail about what these veterans have experienced, while reading about their triggers and how they handle life really touches you deeply. I felt so many incredible emotions throughout the story as Lisa was working to solve the homicide.

“Demons and nightmares plague these guys even when they are awake. Making these items in a high-risk way takes them from the memories because you don’t have the space to let your mind wander.”

“A perp’s a perp, and here, the want to break them down to give me the answe3r to the ultimate question wouldn’t be satisfied with the number forty-two.”

This was an absolute page turner! With every word, line, page, and chapter, I needed more. Even when I thought I knew exactly what happened, I didn’t. And when I did figure it out, I couldn’t figure out the motive. The author did an amazing job of making me feel like I was right in the middle of the story beside Lisa working on the case. I had all sorts of FEELS going on throughout. I highly recommend it!

Ok, now that you are at the end of my review, go on back up and one-click Tempered Beats!!! You won’t regret it!

#WOTR24 #Review – Comma Kaze: A Neurodivergent Professor Romance (Nerd Love Book 1) by Mellanie Szereto

Loss brings them together. Will their pact help them find love and happily-ever-after?

English professor Elijah M. Clayton, Jr., (34) has promised his dying cousin he’ll raise her unborn daughter, but his search for a wife has failed miserably. Social awkwardness related to being on the autism spectrum leads to his only decent speed-dating prospect—Beatrix-35—calling him a pervert before the start of their first official date.
Plumber Beatrix Glouster (35) likes Elijah-34 and has high hopes she’s found a good guy until he asks questions that trigger painful memories of losing her premature son, her subsequent inability to have children, and her husband leaving her. An early morning plumbing emergency brings her face-to-cute-backside with last night’s disappointment.
Their lives are forever changed when a call from Elijah’s cousin summoning him to the hospital for the birth of her child interrupts an unexpectedly hot kiss. Only deep commitment will help Elijah and Beatrix avoid the prospective emotional risk of an impromptu marriage, his communication issues, and raising their orphaned newborn charge together.

Review by Twinsie Kelly

OMG!! ALL THE FEELS!!!! If there is ever a book or story that makes you believe in fate or love at first sight, then this is it for me! Elijah and Beatrix meet at a speed dating mixer and decide to meet afterward. Not realizing that Elijah is on the spectrum, when he starts to ask some weird questions, she decides to cut her losses and just walk away. They are then thrown back into each other’s space when she, a plumber, ends up at Elijah’s house to fix his bathroom faucet. She is with Elijah when he gets the call that his cousin is about ready to pass and Beatrix accompanies him to the hospital. Chloe, his cousin, just knows that she is the one and these two are going to be the best parents for her child. The only problem is, these two literally just met! However, the chemistry, not just sexual, is there and it gets intense. They just calm each other…they just fit.

“Chloe was right. Fate had played a part in her introduction and subsequent meeting with Eli, but this child was the catalyst – not romance, love, or even sexual attraction. The interaction with him been a means to an end. Only Eve mattered – and Chloe passing from the world knowing someone would cherish her baby.”

“A plumber and an English professor walk into a marriage for the wrong reason. And baby makes three. There’s a bad joke if I ever heard one. A deep breath didn’t calm the butterflies in her stomach. And I’m gonna do it anyway.”

One takeaway I have from this story is that average is boring! Parenting means making sacrifices and falling in love has no guarantee of a happily-ever-after, but these two are truly meant to be. Life isn’t always fair but it doesn’t have to be. However, when your instinct takes over and you know you found your person, you will truly be happy.

Please pick up this book. It is an incredible story with ALL THE FEELS!

#Review #ExtremeHorror – Zola by D E McCluskey

Gordon’s name was a joke.

It was given to him by Anthony Zola, a controlling, and abusive father, to taunt his wife over her love of cheese, and the fact that she had been steadily gaining weight since their marriage.

Andrea was a doting mother, and maybe a little overprotective of her boy, but she didn’t see that as a bad thing.

On discovering a secret, one the child had been told to keep to himself, everything changes. Now she must do whatever she needs to keep her, and her boy, alive.

Needs must.

Gordon is going to find that his love of cheese, handed down to him by his mother, and his love for the only woman in his life, is about to be taken to a whole new level.

From the dark mind of D E McCluskey, author of The TwelveCRACK, and Cravings, Comes another addition to his ‘Extreme Horror Series’.

Zola is about to take you into a whole new level darkness, and depravity.

“The perfect combination of extreme horror and heartfelt emotion.” – R E Shambrook

“Truly, a book of absolute depravity… but with heart.” – Christina Pfeiffer

This book was vile and disgusting but at the same time, also sad. For that alone, I’m rating it 5 stars, because it left me feeling all sorts of emotions. Which is absolutely crazy because I was not expecting that going into this one.

We meet a naïve woman who ends up finding out something horrible happened to her son. When she finds this out, she takes revenge into her own hands. Once this happens, the rest of the book is a crazy, twisted, disgusting ride.

I really have no words for what I just read but I can guarantee that I’ll be thinking about this book for a while.

DE definitely left me wanting to take a metal brillo pad to my skin and grab some tissues at the same.

Oh and I don’t think I’ll be eating cheese for a while.

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

I love when Michel messages me and asked if I am free to read her books.  My reply to her is always “DUH!!”  I love the stories she can weave.

Divinity/Vin and Peter….this is a cool concept.  Pen Pals from 4th grade through high school.  When they finally meet, it was FIRE and then dude disappears. Not cool Peter!!   Vin moved forward with her life but always feels like she is missing “More” with her partners.

Fast forward to 10 years later,  Vin is standing face to face with the man she loved with her entire heart.  Peter still looks delicious. Peter also makes it know that God brought her back for him to correct the past.

The story was initially a little slow in the beginning while it was all being set up but once it gets going it gets GOING!!  I loved the story and the big twist at the end was GOOD!!  I did not see it coming and was just as mad/confused at Vin when it was happening!!

I am looking forward to reading more stories from other authors in the world.

Wrenley
When my grandmother asked me to run her bed-and-breakfast while she took a three-month vacation, I should’ve said no.
Now I’m stuck in this godforsaken town hours away from the pampered life I live in New York City.
Gone are my days filled with luxury and glamour. I’ve been reduced to being domesticated.
What can possibly go wrong?
Decker Black, that’s what.
He walks into my life—more like breaks in, but whatever—and immediately irritates the hell out of me.
I can’t stand him. He’s moody, grumpy, and surly all rolled into one annoyed glare.
Until one severe storm changes everything.
I never could’ve imagined a slower, simpler life was everything I was missing.
Unfortunately, my home is in New York and my heart is stuck in Alabama.

Decker
My life is quiet and calm. Just how I like it.
Until Wrenley comes barreling in out of nowhere and disrupts everything.
Gone are my days of balance and routine. She brings turbulence and chaos.
She’s quick-tempered with a bold mouth full of sharp jabs and is entirely ungrateful.
She’s a headache, and I’m ready for her to go back to where she came from.
So why can’t I stay away from her?
The more time we spend alone, the more I realize underneath all the anger is something beautiful. And I like it. I like her.
I never thought love and happiness was missing in my life.
Unfortunately, my small town no longer has everything I need.
It doesn’t have her.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
I actual rating is a 3.75 but I rounded up.

I met this wonderfully kind author while at a book convention. She is so warm and friendly that when she reached out to me after the convention, I had to read these books. The blurbs of the books seemed “up my alley”. Who DOESN’T follow the heart breaks and loves of celebrities.

Chaz is the celebrity that everyone wants and everyone assumes (ya know you should’nt do that right???) is a mega playboy. He meets Megan/Meg to talk to her about investing his money. He is totally taken with her and had to convince her to go out on dates. Meg has a famous brother and she wants NOOOOO part of a celebrity relationship.

Well the couple feel an attraction. Meg is so insecure that she cant believe this hottie really wants her. Chaz is sooo broken he cant believe someone as kind and caring actually likes him for him and not his money.

Well the two end up falling in L…..wait not the L word…friends with benefits. Neither will admit their love for the other out of fear. When they finally do, they are arguing and I had to laugh about it. The couple is happy and trying to figure out the logistics of how to make it work when…grrrr….the conflict of the story hits. a co-worker frames Meg and sets off a bunch of bad press for Chaz which is turns threatens his career. Poor Chaz has to decided love or a career. Poor Meg has to decide Love for me or let him go for his own career.

I enjoyed the story and the overall plot. I am very excited to meet and read about Quinn, Chaz’s best friend, in book 2.

I’ve been making up stories for as long as I can remember. When other kids wanted to be doctors, teachers or firemen, I wanted to be a writer.
As soon as I could read, I began devouring books. I’d read anything I could get my hands on, but Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women” and Nancy Drew mysteries were early favorites.
In school, term papers were my favorite homework. While others bemoaned the amount of work involved, I jumped in, burying myself in research and writing the document with care.
Still fiction was my first love. After college and a degree in English, I fell into the world of advertising. After many years in corporate America, I went my own way. Working and raising two kids took all my energy and creativity. But when the youngest went off to school, all the stories ideas in my head came to life. Mac Caldwell and Callie Richards landed in my head and refused to leave. So I told their story. What started as one book has become six. Now I greet my characters every morning at six and jump back into their story, enjoying every minute. I’m blessed to be able to work at something I love. More than 70 books later, I’m still up at the crack of dawn, crafting the tales of the people who live in my head while nursing a cup of tea and a few pieces of black licorice.

#WOTR24 #darkRomance #BDSM #Cartel – Surrendered Innocence, Innocent Brides book 4 by Measha Stone, narration by Jay Alder and Kylie Stewart

He didn’t ask for my surrender. He took it.

Maybe I let myself get a little too tipsy this evening, but I didn’t expect to wake up next to a Russian mobster without my panties on. Fortunately, Maxim Volkov isn’t here to ravage me.

At least not tonight…

He’s made it his business to look out for me, and if that means taking me over his knee with my bottom bare for a spanking with my own hairbrush, then that’s exactly what he’s going to do.

I shouldn’t have surrendered so easily, but I was soaking wet even before he ordered me to spread my legs, and the moment I felt his touch where I needed it most, I knew I was his.

Forever.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I purchased this audio book.

Again, I listened to an audio book so sorry if I get the names spelled wrong.  Anyway, I enjoyed the life that Jay and Kylie added to the characters.  They really do embrace the story when they tell it, and it makes it that much for enjoyable.

This story overlaps with book 2 and 3.  Maxin and Mandy. He is the babysitter bodyguard, and she is the new bestie at Anya’s work.  They are both interested in the other we find out in the story.  We SEE the attraction in book 2.

Maxim is 100% like his cousins…take charge is all things, Mandy.  Mandy is much like the other ladies…strong willed and always into trouble.  LOL  She is one brave girl bringing a gun to a Romanov’s house …smh…..GIRL WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!!!!????

What I have absolutely loved about this series are characters you think are just random names because a major part of the overall arching plot.  We meet Viper in another book, and I didn’t think anything of him and then BOOM Measha shocks us with the importance of this character to Mandy.

If you enjoy BDSM and have read the other books in the series, you will enjoy this story as well. Mandy and Maxin are fun to read.  She will not come to heal so quickly and that makes Maxim a wee bit upset.  He gets imaginative at times with her “punishments” which of course are delicious reads.  *Wink*

He didn’t come for me just to make me scream his name. He came to make me his.

When Luka Romanov burst into the bar where I work to take care of some mafia business, I was still an innocent virgin. I woke up the next morning sore, spent, and feeling much less innocent.

He tracked me down to punish me for trying to run from him, but it wasn’t just his hard hand reddening my bare bottom that left me soaking wet and ready to be ruthlessly claimed. I was breathless and desperately in need the moment he pinned me to the wall and kissed me.

Then he carried me off to his penthouse to show me what it means to belong to a man like him.

Because he isn’t just going to ravage me. He’s going to keep me.

I bought this audiobook.

Now because I listened to the audio books, please forgive any misspelled names.  LOL I want to say I think Jay and Kylie did a great job with the narration in the story. I enjoyed the way they brought the characters to life.  I really loved the Russian accents they used for these characters.

Avery, we meet at the bar when Arman, in book 2, comes to get information from Mario.  We see Luka take interest in the feisty waitress trying to help her boss and bar patrons.  He takes her home and immediately needs more from this crazy woman.  She is on her own and independent.     Luka is the assassin for the family.  He is only here in the states for a job but the little waitress he can’t seem to get out of his head.

Their story seemed to have a lot more sex filler, which I know some people love, but I find to be a bit tiring.  I did enjoy their story and how they fell in love hard and fast for the other.  They both are so scared to admit things and so of course things happen.  Avery kept her fire and Luks did hide like a coward for a bit. But when he admits his fault, they have a great HFN.

I did like the story, but the sex filler left me bored at time.  I mean I love sexy times but I felt like every chapter was a sexy time.  27 chapters it gets as smidge redundant.  I am looking forward to starting book 4 with Mandy and Maxim.

Ruined Innocence: Innocent Brides, Book 2

First he made me his. Then he made me his bride.

Arman Romanov has looked out for me since I was a little girl, yet now when I need him more than ever I can’t stand the idea of accepting help from the son of a man my father betrayed.

But it isn’t up to me.

A powerful mafia family is demanding that I pay my father’s debts and Arman is the only one who can protect me, but that isn’t the reason I’m sore, spent, and sleeping by his side tonight.

I’m sore because his belt across my bare bottom taught me that he expects to be obeyed, and I’m spent because when he was finished he ravaged me even more shamefully than he punished me.

But I’m not lying naked in his bed just so he can use me as he pleases.

I’m here because I’m his bride.

Now because I listened to the audio books, please forgive any misspelled names.  LOL I want to say I think Jay and Kylie did a great job with the narration in the story. I enjoyed the way they brought the characters to life.

Anya and Arman were such a fun book.  I felt terrible for Anya for everything that happened to her due to her father.  Arman was such an interesting character given his feeling for Anya but his refusal to admit it to himself and her.  When he told her they were always going to happen, it made my heart swoon.

These 2 have SO MUCH to overcome.  Her fear of him and his family but then just his dad.  He has to deal with his dad and make sure his brothers are going to have his back given how mad Dad is going to be with the marriage.  They also have to deal with secrets from Anya’s dead father and what it means to her.

I was disappointed at how Arman treated Anya after everything they had been through when he confronted his dad and her.  I love how strong Anya stays through it all.  She was a great character, and I enjoyed her fire and strength.  Arman is a man who knows what he wants but got caught up for a bit.

I really enjoyed the story.  I gotta admit I really want to read book 4 because Mandy is going to be a fun character.  But off I go to start book 3 with Luca and the waitress.

Life or death, deals with the devil and helping the monster win… Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! Chloe, oh Chloe! She just wants to be useful, helpful, just something. Her life has been in turmoil ever since her best friend died and now she has a place. She is finding herself and everyone just wants to protect her. She can’t get a straight answer to save her life. She knows something wasn’t wrong but that everything was. She and Gunnar finally get to really work together in this story which is absolutely great. She really starts to open her eyes to this world that she is so new to but has so much to learn. I mean, who gets so nonchalant about breaking bones and being stabbed? The last straw is broken when she helps the monster win.

I absolutely love this series! The world that this author has built is incredible. The author was able to give action and adventure while weaving funny and witty elements into the story. I think this really makes the characters great! I do have to say that I am a little bummed at the moment. I was so happy that all the books were out not realizing that the 4th in the series is not out yet (dammit!). I will (im)patiently wait for the next in the installment so I can see what shenanigans Chloe is going to get into next! Tara Vasser….please hurry! No rush, but seriously, I cannot wait!
