Review by Twinsie Angie

Book 1-

I bought this book with my own hard earned cash because I met this author and didnt know she was a writer….LOL I knew she read for an author friend but didnt know she was until one day it “clicked” in my head. Then I was like DUH ANGIE!! So since I was going to be meeting her in Vegas, I bought a book to read.

Now I like Historical books but they are not for everyone. Now most historical that I have read have some naughty sex in it…nope not a drop of naughty here til like 97% so if you want smutty then this is not for you. HOWEVER, this book is good with chemistry. I was forever screaming at Brock and Viola to “just get with it and kiss already!!” I mean the two are sooo perfect for each other but are to busy gettin’ in their own dang way!!

Brock returns from the military to all his family members being gone. He is the only member remaining. His goals are to ruin the woman who ruined his family, get a wife and have kids……simple right!!?? LOL

Viola ran far far far away from high society after she was involved in the death of two young socialites. She has been in hiding and trying to make amends for what she did. She wants to just breed horses and live a quiet life. A husband and family are not in her future because she doesn’t deserve them.

Well as you know, your two enemies meet. The chemistry is CRAZY good. The first kiss was great even though we know Brock is gonna flip his lid when he finds out he is lusting over the enemy. The woman he is sworn to DESTROY!! Ok a bit over the top there Brock but he is a man on a mission.

So this story starts to unravel. There is alot of deceit and betrayal happening behind Viola’s back. She thinks it is Brock and when they have a showdown…WOW!! She kicked his butt *High 5 Viola*. But when we see Brock realizing Viola is a changed woman…swoon……

I cannot wait for book 2. I want to know all about Viola’s bestie Ruby. She has some skeletons in her closet that is prolly gonna be getting aired out VERY VERY soon!!

Book 2-

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
*Puts my hand in the air to stop you* Now wait a minute and hear me out……This author has made me love Historical Romance again. I read historical but really had kinda walked away from the genera because I wanted smut *Snickers* and I wasn’t finding any historical stories that really grabbed my attention. WELLLLLLL that is so not the case now.
Ok so I met and talked with the author for several weeks before realizing she was an author!! The fact she never pushed her stuff on me made me wanna read her even more. So I shelled out a few coins and fell in love with Lady Vi and Lord Brock. Their story was crazy good. The chemistry was awesome BUT the whole time I wanted to know about Vi’s bestie Ruby and Brock’s bro from another mother, Harold. The two are so right for each other and are so busy with dealing with family drama.

The book starts with Harold noticing Ruby and remembering her as a small child. They were friends who grew up playing together. They are thrown together again because of their mutual acquaintances. Harold is noticing Ruby doing some shady things and decided to be her white knight and rescue the damsel in distress. Along the way, Harold begins to realize his feelings for Ruby might be more than just “friendly”…GASP the scene at the theater……..Oh *fans self* Mr. Jakeston……Why can I sit next to you next time??? Throughout this book, Ruby is investigating some truths she discovered about herself. She is secretly investigating with the help of Harold whether she wants it or not!!

Harold is not looking to go into the family Vicary. He is spending his life having fun until the day he must return home to a mundane life. He begins a bit of an adventure of his own with the help of a person from his past all the while trying to stop these growing feelings for Ruby. He knows she is way above him socially. The two get thrown together a lot and they soon begin to have “wondering hands”….OMG are those scenes hawt and spicy……I mean Wondering hands are always good reads right???

What I loved about this story besides hottie Harold and Ruby finding love?? Ellington or Ellie. She is a CHARACTER and I cannot wait for her book….and yes she is getting one!! She is such a spit fire and during a certain scene, she offered Harold some insight into what he should be doing in regards to Ruby. I was cracking up.

Well if you like good chemistry and some mystery? Then this book and series are a great addition to your reading.

Book 3-

I beta read this book from the author for an honest opinion.
*Wipes my eyes* WHY!! *Sobbing* Why didn’t I read the blurb to prepare my heart for this book. *Uncontrollable tears* WHHHHHHHHY!!!!!!! *throws tantrum on the floor*

*Several hours later and a lot of sherry later*

Ok I am now composed enough to discuss this amazing book Christina. I am a big HR reader. I love the erotic to the traditional. I love the people, the time and the talk of the books. I will say that Christina’s latest book is a mixture of traditional with a splash of erotic. If you read her other 2 books, you will see that she kicked up the spicy factor but it’s still tastefully written and nothing you won’t enjoy *wiggles eye brows* I will say this books characters drew me in like none of her other past characters have. I have loved each book and character even proclaiming that Harold is my Theater buddy (If you read book 2 you understand the reference) but this set of characters was amazing!!

So this book takes us back to BEFORE book 1. We are learning about the awful Drake from the other 2 books….you know THAT guy who is terrible to Ellington. Yeah THAT GUY. So we hate him right?? WELLLLL you might change your mind after reading this book. I mean I fell in total and complete love with him. I messaged Christina the entire time I was reading growling at bad stuff that was happening to him!! YEAH CAN YOU BELIVE IT!! ME EITHER!!

So our buddy Andrew/Drake is a total rakeshell. He and his buddy Benji/Chastain like to seduce other men’s wives for sport. They don’t even care what people think of them. Well fast forward to a new man. 10 years have passed and Andrew is over his dawg ways. Then he spots a beauty. He must get to know her…well Benji has NOT changed and so he also wants too get to know her. The two men pretty much are after her for separate reasons. Andrew because his heart really wants her but Benji just to “get the girl’ from his best friend….brother from another mother.

Lorelei is drawn to Andrew but her DUTY is to form an attachment to Benji. It seems out little lady is a bit of a *GASP* Spy. She wants what Benji has to save her family and her life from Napoleon!!! Yup not goooooood. Lorelei and her family put on a huge ruse to get accepted by the Ton.

Well Things happen and I will not go into detail with all the business BUT Lorelei is to marry Benji….nooo you cry? ME TOO!!!! The chemistry, the angst, the love that comes from Lorelei and Andrew is intense. They seem to have bad timing. The story goes through about a year of them having almost and near misses. The final ending of the story…I will say from about 60% …….I couldn’t put it DOWN!! I devoured the book. I read through my tears. I read through my tantrum. I read through it alllllll and after I was a mess but a happy mess???? How can that be right????

Book 4-

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Oh Harold *Swooning and sighing* Oh Brock *wipes my chin drool* OHHH Alex?? HRMMM New one to add to my men to lust over………
This is a great historical series to read. If you haven’t and love historical then please STOP and start with buying book 1. If you do, you will fall so in love with these characters and their love stories.

This novella is a sneak peek at our favorite couples Harold and Ruby plus Vi and Brock. Both ladies are looking for a redemption of sorts this holiday season. Vi wants forgiveness for what happened to Brock’s brothers and Ruby is looking for forgiveness from her sister who was abused at the hands of their awful father……Brock and Harold are looking to give their wives the best first holiday imaginable!!! Dude, reading about Harold being naughty in the linen closet…GASP! I do so love him!!

This book warmed my heart so much to see these couples striving and doing well. It also does a great job setting up Alex and Ellington’s book. She is a tough nut to crack but when Alex does, she is going to be a pile of gush like the other two ladies were.

Book 5-

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Oh Ellie *SMH* What a troubled and hurtful life you had growing up under your fathers control. The Drake was not a good father. He was not kind, loving or in any way nurturing to you. The only thing he did was give you a lovely roof over your head, have a devoted half-sister for you and introduce you to Marce who is more a mother/friend for Ellie.

Alex *sigh* What a wonderful life you lived with Mrs. Dutton. Your parents abandoned you but still you grew up with love and devotion from this woman who sacrificed do much for you. You may have been cold, poor and hungry but you never went without love. The two of you had such a different life.

Ellie and Alex are thrown together because he is the hired stable hand at Ellie’s father’s home. She can’t stop watching him and wondering about him but she always treats him high handed and rudely. She is the bastard daughter of the Drake. She is his spitting image at times. Alex cannot stop watching Ellie out of the corner of his eye. Her sister asked him to keep an eye out for her. Alex finds he enjoys knowing she is there hiding in the shadows while he works but wonders why she is so mean when they do exchange words. She lived a wonderful life of riches how can she be so miserable???

Ellie is about to lose her home when a “new claim” is being made on her father’s estate. With Alex’s help they get the papers she needs to try and stop the new owner from taking over. The paper that Ellie gets sends her into a spiral…what she discovers is critical to not only her future but Alex’s as well. Now does she tell him or not? Does she risk losing all for a STABLE HAND???
The two have such an amazing journey in this story. You can see them both growing but Ellie’s growth knocked me off my socks. She makes such strides in overcoming her personality flaws for fear of ending up like her father….cold, miserable, heart broken and alone. Alex is stunned by what is discovered and cannot believe the changes it will make for his life but one thing he cannot risk is losing Ellie to his new life circumstances.

For The Love of a Widow by Christina McKnight – 5 Stars

I receive this book from the author for an honest review.
Oh man!! This book was amazing. I loved the novella and the different approach of the characters. Lettie is a great heroine who has gone through A LOT in the last 6 years. She has left her best friend/betrothed, her dowry, her EVERYHTING to marry a common man. To marry a soldier. All of this against her families wishes.
Daniel was so far in his “cups” to care that his best friend was calling off their marriage. He only cared about ruining himself further in the gaming halls, with willing woman and other things. His depression and downward spiral after his father’s death left him a mess and so saying good bye to Lettie was fine with him.
6 years.
6 years later everything has changed. Lettie is not the popular debutant in the Ton from before. She is a jaded widow who has seem more death and blood shed then any one should have seen. She is lost without her beloved Gregory. He was lost to her in the war. She returns home poor, and destroyed on the inside.
Daniel has realized his life is nothing without Lettie. He let her go 6 years ago, because he was too drunk to know any better and has regretted it every day. When she returns, he will do anything to have her back.
The heartbreaking recounts from Lettie are enough for you to understand why she pushed everyone away. When Daniel opens up to what made him wake up, you want to badly for them to figure to out. Seeing Daniel open up to Lettie, I was totally swooning!! This story was a great read and I would love to read more from them in the future…maybe have them pop in to a future story would be awesome too!!
Stolen by My Knave by Dawn Brower – 5 Stars

**Claapping** AHHHHHH Captain Jack’s book! *Bootie Shaking and fist pumping* I have been so wondering about him after Evelyn’s book and now we know what happens to him.

Jack wakes up after a fall through time to save the king annnd his mistress soooo the king gives the stranger a title but no lands. Jack is in England time trying to figure out what to do and maybe how to get back to his time and life. He knows that getting an invite to the 2 week ball is probably going to drive him nuts. Having a title means young married minded woman will be looking for a husband. That is not in Jack’s cards.

Elizabeth knows alllll about time travel given that her grandmother and mother both did it. Her grandmother escaped Captain Jack and her mother fell through time to marry her father. She has seen visions of Jack but always thought they were her imagination running wild and never really thought that she was seeing the real man.

When they meet unexpectedly at the library, the chemistry was awesome. They both are intrigued and want to know more. When Jack tells Elizabeth his name and then tells her who she is…..Que plot twist….the two can’t be together!! GASP!!

When Jack talks to Alys all about her life, time travel and he learns all is not what he thought so he runs to find and claim his Elizabeth much like Mr. Darcy in the book he is reading!!

This book was one of my favorites in the series!!

#ReleaseDay #NewRelease #Historical – The Gambler Wagers Her Baron, Craven House Book #4 by Christina McKnight

The Gambler Wagers Her Baron (Craven House Book 4) by [McKnight, Christina]

When happily ever after is the name of the game, gamblers must risk it all in this emotional conclusion to Christina McKnight’s bestselling Craven House Series.

WAGERS GO AWRY

Payton Samuels has always known she wants more out of life than being the youngest daughter of the ton’s most disreputable family. While her siblings are content to bet their future happiness on marriage, Payton learned early on from her mother that love is fleeting and leads only to disappointment. She’s got a different plan: she’ll work as a governess for Baron Ashford’s children, but only long enough to win her fortune at one of his infamous masked gaming parties. When she loses big, Payton sees her chance at an independent life go up in flames—until Lord Ashford surprises her by paying her debts.

WHEN LOVE IS IN THE CARDS.

Since the tragic death of his wife, Damon Kinder, Lord Ashford, has been a man made of ice. His determination to never be hurt by love again runs so deep that he can’t even connect with his children. As he spends more time around Payton, his heart begins to defrost, and he can’t stop thinking about the captivating governess.

But every seasoned gambler knows that eventually, luck runs out. Can two souls so burned by past loves forge a new future together?

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I have been so waiting for Peyton’s book. She was the baby of the family and the secretive one, so I wanted to know how this hard woman would fall or more who would win her heart.  I admit I loved seeing her soft side emerge and caring for 2 lost souls much like herself as a child.  She is the perfect person to take care of these troublesome kiddos for sure.  She can handle the spunk and hurt they feel over the loss of their mother and subsequent father.

Damon is lost without his wife.  He can’t imagine a day without her and yet here he is living while she is no more.  He is so afraid of screwing up his kids, he hides from them not realizing that is what is screwing them up.  Damon is beyond frustrated when the new governess is not able to handle his children and yet she also will not stand down from him when he gives a dictate.

When Damon discovers a “secret” side to his new governess he is beyond interested in her but seeing her care and support for his children makes his heart seize up.  He should be the one caring for them and yet she is.  He should be the one comforting their night terrors and yet she is the one they come to.

I loved the dynamic of the two.  Damon and Pey are prefect matches for each other.  She will not allow him to hide from his duties as a father and he shows her that loving a man is more then just giving up your freedom to live in a cage.  The love match is a slow burn because they are both from different stations in life and different places.  He has no idea of the heartbreak she has felt in her life and she comes to understand what losing is wife has done to him and his children.

Garrett!!  Oh Garrett!! I am so ready for your book.  Seeing you with the kids made my heart melt like jelly….seriously I love him so hard and I can’t wait to see some woman make a proper gentleman outta him.

The Lady Loves A Scandal: Regency Novella

Originally published in IT STARTED WITH A WHISPER Anthology

But the night before their betrothal was to become official, the love of her life vanished—with a hastily scrawled note and little more. Now, more than a year later, he’s unexpectedly back, and Sybil will have her answers.

Many, many years ago, Gideon Lyndon made a grave mistake. One he’s spent most of his adult life trying to rectify. And despite the progress made, the sacrifices were extensive and damaging. #NewRelease #review #Historical #Excerpt #Giveaway – Earl of St Seville by Christina McKnight

Earl of St. Seville (Wicked Earls' Club #11)

Meet twelve of the most wickedly sinful earls in all of Regency England. Together they make up the Wicked Earls’ Club. A secret group, marked with a single golden W; it is a place where these deliciously devious earls can indulge in their darkest desires. Though fate may have something else planned for them entirely.
Read twelve standalone novellas as each wicked earl finds love and redemption.

Earl of Sussex by Tammy Andresen
Earl of Westcliff by Meara Platt
Earl of Wainthrope by Collette Cameron
Earl of Sunderland by Aubrey Wynne
Earl of Basingstoke by Aileen Fish
Earl of Weston by Anna St. Claire
Earl of Davenport by Maggie Dallen
Earl of Grayson by Amanda Mariel
Earl of Benton by Madeline Martin
Earl of Pembroke by Lauren Smith
Earl of St. Seville by Christina McKnight
Earl of Harrington by Dawn Brower

Perhaps she should have knocked.

Or, preferably, remained safely abed.

Before her stood a man, not one of her brothers that she still pictured as boys even though they were two and four years her senior, but instead a true man—stripped to the waist, his back to her.

Thank the heavens above for small miracles.

But to deny that her heart skipped a beat—or ten—would be preposterous. In fact, as Patience stood, unnoticed, studying the man now looking out Merit’s open window, she wondered if her heart would ever beat a normal, steady rhythm again or if her skin would ever cool enough to need an overcoat or shawl. It was only when her lungs began to burn that she realized she’d held her breath since opening the door, a call of greeting stuck in her throat.

One utterly forgotten.

So intent on the window, the man failed to notice he was no longer alone.

There was no denying the stranger’s presence—an unfamiliar masculine air filled the room. It was both intriguing and frightening. Certainly, she’d witnessed men in various stages of undress, but this goliath was different. Never had Patience been so utterly aware of her own body, while distracted by the sight of another’s chiseled form. Her hands itched to reach out at the same time they should be raising to cover her exposed flesh, veiled only by her thin nightshift.

I received this book from the Netgalley for an honest review.

I loved the names of these characters!!  Sin and Patience. These names totally go with these characters and also totally do not go with these characters…LOL

Sin is exactly that…Sinful to look at but he is not the rakeshell you would assume he is given he is sneaking into Patience brothers room in the middle of the night.

Patience is as patience when she wants to help someone but really doesn’t have patience when people don’t listen to her…LOL

The couple meet under less than normal circumstances and then meet again at a soiree when Patience is trying to get people to listen to her.  She is worried about the dangers of prizefighting that the men of the ton seem to enjoy betting on and participating in.  Patience really is a forward-thinking woman in this book and I enjoyed it.

When she saves Sin from his disastrous and then offers to train him as long as he conforms to her rules.  I loved it.  I mean what kinda women tells a man what to do in this day and age???  Well Patience sure does tell Sin the business…too bad he isn’t being totally honesty with her about his agreements.

When the plot thickens, and we see the couple have a huge disagreement about his prizefighting days, I loved loved loved that he was the one to chase her with her brothers tagging along.

I loved so much about this book.  It was so different from any Historical story I have read.  Patience is a woman with a strong mind and a very strong sense of self.  She was soooo refreshing to me too see and read about.  Sin was also a great character.  He is doing all he knows…fighting.  He wasn’t educated, and he doesn’t know any other way to fill his coffers to save his lands.  He too is a much different hero that we would normally read about.

I receive this book from the author for an honest review.

I have been waiting for this book since we first met Marce!  I was so excited to finally get this book in my hands, so I could sit, and binge read it during a snowy day and evening.  This book was everything and then more then I could have hoped for.

Marce is the big sister who will do anything to make sure he siblings are well taken care of and provided for.  While doing this she is also keeping a huge secret from them regarding their mother and her past as the Madame of Craven House.  We know Marce has been seeing a dashing looking man and even warned her sisters away from this man but to finally get to know him….eeeeppppp so excited!!

However, once we got to KNOW the man was to not like the man.  His hate and need for revenge was crazy so I was wondering how in the heck Christina could make him likeable and even redeemable.  However, she does it and I felt my heart slowly melting for the Duke AKA Rowan AKA the blackmailer douche bag!!

Rowan lives his life by a black and white code.  EVERYTHING is in black and white so to see the Grey fringes that Marce lives in is not even thinkable.  Rowan has a lot of growing in this book as a person and as a man.  Marce has a lot of learning as well.  She learns that not all is what it seems and even the most confident man can be and will be broken at times.

I was so excited with how everything flowed with this book.  I loved Tobias and I especially loved Rowan’s mom.

#WOTR #Review #Historical #Regency #Giveaway #ReleaseDay – Theodora, Lady Archer’s Creed Book 1 by Christina McKnight

Theodora (Lady Archer's Creed #1)

Friendship…

Lady Theodora Montgomery departed Miss Emmeline’s School of Education and Decorum for Ladies of Outstanding Quality to attend her first London Season—her three dearest friends by her side. With her sharp wit and skill on the archery field, Theo is far more interested in winning a large purse prize than securing a husband. But when she is unmasked on the tourney grounds, her face exposed to all, she fears her identity and days spent gallivanting around London will cause not only her undoing, but the downfall of her friends as well.

Loyalty…

Mr. Alistair Price, heir to the elderly Viscount Melton, arrived in London with his eight younger siblings in tow. He is charged with keeping his family name above reproach until the Season starts and his sister, Miss Adeline Price, is presented to society—though that proves far more difficult than Alistair ever expected when he discovers his rebellious sister climbing down the side of their townhouse and scurrying off to Whitechapel for an archery tournament. His focus remains on saving his family from the certain ruin and disgrace Adeline’s actions invited—until Alistair catches sight of another female archer, her arrow connecting with far more than the center of her target.

And honor above all…

With Theodora’s future—and that of her friends—in jeopardy, will she agree to a marriage devoid of affection, or risk everything for the man who won her heart?

More about the Lady Archer’s Creed Series:

A love of archery brings four young girls together to form The Lady Archer’s Creed. Through their mutual love of the sport, they solidify an unbreakable bond, and each woman has a unique quality that adds to their dynamic friendship:

Georgina, Lady Archer’s Creed Series (Book Two)
Lady Georgina makes the perfect financier. The forgotten daughter of a wealthy duke, she seeks to belong to something—or someone—by any means necessary.

Adeline, Lady Archer’s Creed Series (Book Three)

Adeline, Georgie, Theo, and Josie live each day by the Lady Archer’s Creed, which they developed during their school days at Miss Emmeline’s School of Education and Decorum for Ladies of Outstanding Quality. “Friendship, loyalty, and honor above all” is their mantra. Now, as they face the challenges that come with adulthood, the creed is more important than ever.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

EEEP!!  I love being introduced to new words and new series.  This series is going to be a fun one for sure.  The series is about 4 Sister from Another Misters who meet at boarding school.  We learn all about the bonds of sisterhood while in boarding school and then we see them in the first season of the Ton.  Each girl captures your heart and you want to know about them for sure.  Theo was a great start because we meet her and fall in love with her in Christina’s other book The Thief Steals Her Earl.  Do you need to read this book to understand Theo’s story? No but it’s a great love match so you might want to pick it up after!!

Theo and Adeline are the two leaders …Adeline is the bossy leader but Theo is the brains of the group.  They are thick as thieves.  When Adeline introduces Theo to her brother she allows him to think she has a gentleman caller when in fact she doesn’t.  So, the domineering older brother goes to yell at the caller to fall face first into this beauty with a smart mind and faster whip of an opinion.

Alistair is stunned that Theo can best him in everything from archery to how to deal with his sister Adeline.  When he steals a kiss, he realizes he is in way too deep.  He must marry off his sibling not get married himself!!  Theo is so confused about everything.  She is attracted to Alistair but she can’t be.  He is the devil Adeline complains about.  He is “their enemy”.

When some secret are let out about what the girls have been doing …..inappropriate things at that, Theo sacrifices herself for her friends but Alistair realizes he can’t let this woman go.   The ending chapters seem to fly and we are left on the edge of our seats to see who Alistair and Theo can have an HEA together.
