Quantum Entanglement: Part One (Legion of Supernatural Academy Series Book 1) by [S. R. Watson, Ryan Stacks]

There are no such things as witches, warlocks, vampires, and shapeshifters … or so we thought! Before everything changed three days ago, we would have agreed with you.

Three days ago, we didn’t have supernatural abilities we couldn’t explain.

Three days ago, we weren’t being hunted for these abilities.

Three days ago, we weren’t being rescued and recruited into a supernatural academy.

We were two strangers. Only two of our kind. What happens when other supernatural beings find out that we exist?

Genesis and Elysian are quantum entangled for a singular purpose. Their recruitment to the Legion of Supernatural Academy is unexpected but vital to the future of humanity. This unique series takes the world of supernatural academies to new heights with twisted tales, suspense-driven fantasy, and self-discovery.

Review by  Kelly

A unique twist on the supernatural! It can be difficult to shake things up a bit when it comes to the supernatural community…but yay! These two did it! There are vampires, werewolves, witches, oh my! But when Elysian and Genesis, seemingly normal random college students start having weird things happen around them out of the blue, things start to get crazy! There is a lot of self-discoveries for both of them. They are strangers but connected. How exactly does that happen? Fate? What they find is very mind boggling but what happens to each one as a result is downright scary, but exciting. As they are learning about themselves, each other, and making new friends….the crazy starts to come out. These two have a very intense pull because of this unknown connection, but what they don’t know is if it is predesigned or not. This causes a lot of hesitation for them. The romance portion of this starts as a slow burn but then the fireworks happen….and get ready to fan yourself because it gets HAWT!!! In the midst of all of this, they have become targets because of their powers. This erupts in a hellacious fight. But wait, there’s more! About the time that you think things may calm down, the authors add in a lovely, twisted ploy at the end that keeps you needing more. There are some typos that threw me off some and I wish the big fight scene had more detail or was drawn out more, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the story. Overall, this was a great book and I look forward to reading about Imogen and Rhys and seeing what shenanigans they bring!

Oh I want talk about what happened and about the really bad things and the badassery that Greta is….ooooohhhhhh how I want to tell you all about it, but I can’t! I refuse to give it all away. What I am saying is that there is so much going on in this story, I literally read it in one sitting, I was consumed by it! I am on pins and needles waiting to read the 3rd installment. I need to know what happens next!

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I do enjoy when I see a new Red book shows up. This one is about the one and only Cowboy Master Anderson. I do enjoy reading about this happy go lucky fun-loving jokester. I never know what I’m going to get with Red is it going to be present time and see the character get his HEA or will we go back to the beginning to get a glimpse of what influenced them into the character they are today.

This story takes us back to Master Anderson and college days with Thane and Durov. Anderson loves with all his heart and projects his feelings.  He is all about his family, no matter if it is his blood relative or the family he picked in Thane and Durov.

We get to see Master Anderson expand his talents and learn more about himself.  He finds himself in a new situation with Thane and Durov away and the secret he is holding onto.  Master Anderson dives into his studies after making a slight change to his major.

I love reading about his antics and to see some of his prank’s backfire is a hoot. I love that his family is so close and you can see where he gets his humor from. Just like when Thane visited the farm was memorable so was the time that Durov spent there.  I may have teared up just a bit in a few of Durov interactions with Andersons family.

We get a sneak peek at the Submissive Training Center and the first meeting of Master Anderson and Tono. We are also introduced to a Dom, Dominus, that mentors Master Anderson and becomes someone that Anderson holds dear to his heart.

I enjoyed seeing the fun-loving side of Master Anderson but we get to see he is so much more in this book.  He is determined knows what he wants and will do what ever it takes to get it done. He knows when he needs to step back and spend a little extra time with his family. We would all be lucky to have a Cowboy like Master Anderson as a brother.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

“That’s the way of family. Whether by blood or by choice, when one suffers, we all suffer.”  ~Master Anderson

“You know, son, you’re defined by the company you keep, and you have exceptional taste in friends.” ~Mr. Anderson … can I say this speaks to me the most my father used to tell me all the time when I was a teenager, “you are who you run with, so choose your friends wisely.”

#wotr #attendingauthor #standalone Mister Manhattan (Cocky Hero Club) by Alexandria Sure

My Thursday afternoon meeting was a no show. Imagine my surprise when a drenched, flustered brunette slipped into the booth across from me, acting like she was supposed to be there.

When she slipped back out with a snappy goodbye, I never thought I’d see her again.

Until I walked into my Friday morning meeting.

At first, I didn’t recognize her—she was dry this time. But from the look on her face, she recognized me.

When she gave the worst pitch I’ve ever sat through, I thought my boss, and mentor, was going to show her the door—except he accepts the proposal and tells me we have to work together.

I didn’t anticipate I would like her, let alone be interested in her. Sure, she was hot and sassy.

But something about her rubbed me the wrong way.

And yet I couldn’t stop thinking about her.

So, when she leaves the room and her phone chimes with a new text, I knew I wasn’t supposed to look.

I also knew I wasn’t supposed to cancel her date for later that evening.

And I definitely knew I wasn’t supposed to delete the entire exchange, so she had no idea what I’d done.

But I did. And then I showed up at the restaurant, pretending like this was all a big coincidence.

When the date is over, I want more. I need more.

We start pretend-dating because she needs practice, and I tell myself, New York’s most eligible billionaire bachelor, that this is just a bit of fun.

What could possibly go wrong?

Review by Twinsie Dee

I was given this book by the author for an honest review

Jurnee went to New York to experience life and practice date for 6 weeks he to try and pitch an idea of opening a single coffee shop. After getting caught in the rain on her way to her first blind date and then him being rude as can be she doesn’t even know what to do. Well when she lands a business meeting with a huge firm over her coffee shop she runs into her date there and wonders what i going on. Anderson is a high most influential bachelor in New York, and tried very hard not to end up in the tabloid so he live a very low key life if at all possible. But when Jurnee coming into his life and she has no idea who he is and he starts to wonder if she is real at all he has never met a woman who didn’t know who he was or wanted his money. Will they both be able to lower there walls that were built after past breakups and things that were said to them and be able to actually be happy or will it blow up in their faces. Thi book was so good i loved it from the beginning Jurnee’s sass and determination just files off the pages and Anderson’s cocky swag flies off as well i loved it so much.

Alexandria Sure is from Michigan and adores her supportive family, her two rescue pups, and her mighty Spartans. Her coffee obsession leads her to writing in local coffee shops where characters come alive between salted caramel lattes and large cups of “cold brew extra cream two Splenda,” which are usually on the counter when she walks in because the baristas know her car. (Thanks, Biggby!)

When she is not writing, she spends a great deal of her time perfecting her craft. She is an active member of Capital City Writers Association and attends several writing conferences each year.

Sure’s first novel, Before Him Comes Me, is an unconventional romance of self-discovery, described by readers as “the first BDSM book with no sex.”

I pin my hair up on top of my head and give it a quick spray. I pull the illuminating powder and contour brush out of my makeup bag. I add some to my forehead and above my cheekbones. I grab Greta’s setting spray and quickly use it on my face.

“You look hot, girl,” Greta says from behind me. She grabs my lipstick and quickly dabs it on my lips before stepping back. “There, perfection.”

Out of the Collins kids, I’m the baby in the family. Greta is a year and a half older than me, but she’s my best friend and roommate. I turn back toward the mirror. “Are you sure?”

“Yes, you know I wouldn’t tell you, you looked great unless I meant it. I went through your closet and found the perfect outfit.” My sister is a fashionista and has a good eye for style.

She disappears out of the bathroom, and I follow her into my bedroom. On my bed are my black low rider wide-leg tuxedo pants and a silver top that hugs my breasts, making them look bigger. Lord knows I could use all the help I can get.

Since I’m the youngest, the boobs were all taken up by the time I came along. I take off my robe and pull on some pink satin panties and a matching bra. I grab my perfume, spray some in front of me, and walk through it.

I get dressed and slip on a pair of black stiletto sling backs. Looking in the mirror, I feel confident and sexy. My plan is to pick up some hot football player and have some much-needed fun.

That’s what I need, to have fun. Over the past couple of years, I’ve spent most of my time building my clientele at the studio and proving to my sisters that I deserved my spot there.

I head into the living room and find Greta standing in front of the mirror, fiddling with her hair. I love my sister, but I can totally admit that I’m jealous of her. She’s tall, lean, has gorgeous long, wavy brown hair, and is beautiful inside and out.

Her dress is a mixture of pinks, creams, and browns. It’s a long, flowy maxi dress with long sleeves and a slit in the front. She’s wearing brown thick-heeled sandals, which compliment her Boho chic style.

She smiles when she sees me. “Damn, I knew that outfit would look great. I ordered our Uber, so we should probably head downstairs.”

We grab our purses, lock up, and head downstairs. Tonight is a party for Nick’s arena football team. He invited us so we could hang with our sister, Sierra, I’m sure.

When we reach Blaze, a man in an all-black suit opens the door for us and holds out his hand, helping each of us out. We step inside and head up a beautiful staircase to the space where the party is at.

We grab some champagne before searching out our family.

“Look at all these hot men,” Greta leans down and whispers in my ear.

I cover my mouth as I giggle, but then I sober up. The one and only serious boyfriend I ever had was a football player, a quarterback, and that asshole broke my heart.

Greta moves to stand in front of me. “What’s that look for?” She tips her head to the side, looking closely at me.

I give her my best fake smile. “Nothing, just admiring the view.” Yes, these men are all hot, but I have no desire to hook up with a football player. “Let’s go find everyone.” I take a sip of my champagne and thread my arm through hers, and we walk through the crowd, looking for our family.

The party is in full swing, and I glance around the room. There truly are hot guys everywhere. The players we’ve met have been nice. Several of them have been vying for Greta’s attention, but of course they would because she’s a babe. I haven’t decided if there are any men that I want to speak to yet. Nick calls someone named Colton over, and my stomach pitches, which is stupid because there are a lot of guys out there named Colton.

I turn toward Nick, and that’s when my heart stops, and my stomach drops. Colton Winters is standing in front of me for the first time in five years. “Heidi.” Just hearing my name on his lips has me turning and running down the stairs.

Outside, I run down the street with Colton calling my name, but all I can hear are the words he spoke to me five years ago. “Heidi, I just don’t love you anymore. This is over.” I stop, panting for breath and holding my side due to a stitch.

Colton stops in front of me, but I don’t think—I just react, slapping him across the face. “Stay away from me,” I grit out. “I just don’t love you anymore.” I throw those words back at him and flag down a cab, climbing inside when it pulls up to the curb before he can follow me.

It’s not until I’m safely back in my apartment that I finally fall apart. I lock myself in my bedroom and grab a box from the back of my closet. Peeling the lid off, I feel the tears fill my eyes.

The first picture was from our eighth-grade graduation. Colton was behind me with his arms around me—both of us smiling widely at the camera. God, we were just babies, and I still had braces.

No one thought we’d last back then, but we proved them wrong, over and over, with each passing year. I wanted to marry him—I wanted to have his children, and I almost did until that slipped away as well.

In a matter of two months I lost him, and then I lost the baby I was carrying. I never told anyone about the second, and I never will. I honestly don’t know what it is about us Collins women, but three of us have found ourselves at one point knocked-up and single. Well, Sierra isn’t single; she may say she is, but Nick follows her around like a lovesick fool. I can’t wait to see it when she realizes she loves him too.

I focus on the pictures. Shit, I took so many. Our whole relationship is in this box in the form of pictures. My favorite is one that was taken right before Colton broke up with me—the night I’m sure our child was conceived.

“How many people are going with you?” Mom asks as I carry my sleeping bag and backpack downstairs.

I shrug. “I don’t know. Maybe three or four. Colton’s the one who set this up.” Ugh … I hate lying to my mom, but with graduation getting close, we’re going to be so busy. Colton and I just want one night alone.

We love camping, so we’re going, just the two of us, for a romantic getaway, sleeping under the stars.

Mom gets close, lowering her voice. “I know you’re having sex, but promise me you’re being careful.”

I roll my eyes. “I am. We are; I promise.”

My parents found out we were having sex when we were sixteen. One night when they were out, Colton was over, and things were getting very physical between us. Miles had come home to surprise us, and surprise us he did. Poor Colton got chased out of the house, naked, by my overprotective big brother.

He, of course, called our parents, who then came home and chewed us out before calling Colton’s mom and dad. There was a lot of yelling, some crying, and then talking.

Colton shows up as I reach the bottom of the stairs. He knocks and then comes right in. “Hey, babe.” He leans down to kiss me.

God, he is so hot, but he’s so much more than that too. He’s kind, loving, funny, and so freaking smart it’s scary.

Bam, bam, bam… “Heidi are you okay?” Greta asks from outside my door, pulling me from my trip down memory lane. “Honey, open the door.”

“G-go away, Greta. I’m fine. I just want to be left alone.” I sit quietly and pray that she goes away.

“Are you sure?” She’s quiet for a minute. “Was that the first time you’ve seen Colton since you broke up?”

Does she mean when he broke up with me, shattering my heart into unfixable pieces? I don’t answer her because I’m afraid of what might come out of my mouth.

I can hear her sigh from the other side of the door. “I’ll leave you alone for now, but I love you, and I’m here for you.”

I quickly grab my pillow from my bed, bury my face in it, and sob.

He was the best; a champion; my father.

I’ve spent my entire life living in his shadow, and it’s slowly killing me.

I need to escape. To live in the light that I so rightly deserve. To show the world that I’m the best in my own right, a champion, and not just my father’s shadow.

Sometimes finding your own way and being the best comes at a cost. I wasn’t prepared to pay the price to live in the light, to be the best. Now I’m learning that being the best doesn’t always mean being the champ. Sometimes it means simply becoming a better man.

Goodreads

Easton POV

“You’re late!” Dad barked as soon as I crossed the threshold.

“By like two minutes.” I rolled my eyes. My alarm didn’t go off, and I’d over- slept this morning. I’d hauled ass to get here, but apparently it didn’t matter.

“Do you want to win this weekend?” Dad’s arms lifted and then dropped to his sides.

I refused to answer as I carried my bag over to the ring. I kicked my shoes off and tossed my shirt, before climbing through the ropes. “I’m ready.” I rolled my eyes. I was in a mood today, and having Dad on my ass was not helping.

I watched as he slipped his gloves on and climbed in. “You keep doing this, and you’re going to flame out.” He shook his head in frustration, I think.

“Doing what? I’m winning,” I mouthed back. I was being an asshole, I knew it, but I didn’t care.

“The staying out all night. The drinking. The fucking anything in a skirt. Did I miss anything?” Dad slammed his gloved hands together. “You’ve worked hard for this, and you’re throwing it away!” His voice boomed through the empty gym.

“I’m winning!” I barked back. He had a point, but I didn’t care. All the things that he complained about, weren’t keeping me from winning. Winning was all that mattered. “What are we working on today?” I mocked as I finished gearing up, and shuffled to the center. I tipped my head to the side and smirked at him. I was being disrespectful, but Dad was in trainer mode, not parent mode, at least that’s what I thought.

Before I could duck out of the way, his right fist connected with my jaw. The padding protected me from the blow, but my entire body rocked to the side. He stepped back and lifted his chin as anger flashed in his eyes.

“What the fuck!” I spit my mouth guard out as I shook off the hit.

“You will not be a little punk to me,” Dad growled. “Do you understand? You show me some respect, or I’ll lay you out right here.” The words were garbled, but the look on his face said he wasn’t playing around.

I flashed a look of understanding in his direction as I picked up my mouth guard and popped it back in. I hit my gloves together and approached center ring. He nodded, tapped his hands against mine, and backed up. For an outsider, one would think that knowing his style would put me at an advantage. The only advantage I had was age. My dad was still in top physical condition, and he made sure I knew it.

He stormed back to the center, and took another swing, but this time spun and raked his leg under me, sending me to the mat. I landed on my ass, and Dad pounced. This was not training; this was me getting a lesson. Dad was showing me that I wasn’t as good as I thought I was.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

Easton you little shit!!  Yes that is how I am starting my review.  If you read his sisters book you know exactly why I am saying it!!  LOL  If not , maybe ya should.

Easton is a know it all.  He seems to think he knows MMA fighting better then his World Class MMA Fighter Dad Wes.  He is arrogant and cocky and of course a little shit.  So when he does the ultimate stupid kid move and leaves his dad as his trainer, his life begins to spiral out of control.  Sure he is fighting and winning and getting money.  But hee is also spending and drinking and making idiot decisions that will come back to haunt him and ruin everything.

When Easton hits rock bottom and has to crawl home …ok Riley drove his sorry ass home….he begins to relook at his life.  He realizes what he wants and that is to fight and be the best.  However he also realizes that helping this captivating woman in self-defense class is something he wants.

Hadleigh …man she puts up with a lot from her abusive boyfriend Josh.  She starts to train at the gym for self defense but is also worried about this guy in class who keeps trying to talk to her and now wants to be her friend.

As Hadleigh and Easton find a strange and comforting friendship, it is soon clear they both want a little bit more then they think the other is willing and ready to give.  The chemistry soon sizzles, and we see them develop more.  When they soon realize more is a possibility Easton’s bad choices come crashing back and the chance of happiness could be lost for all.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Easton has always been in his Dads shadow.  He is arrogant and knows he can be the best, but he wants to do it his way. He fails to see how his Dad is treating him and training him will get him where he wants to be now.  He wants results and he wants them NOW. He knows how to do it and it is not his Dad’s way so he leaves to make his dreams come true and not be in his dads shadow.  Others can see the talent that he has but he just cannot seem to keep out of trouble or out of the medias negative eye.  After he hits rock bottom his big sister has to come get him and drag him home.  Boy does he have some things to overcome and make right.

Easton goes back home and has to assist at his dads gym as punishment.  While helping, or should I say being a punching bag, at the gym during self defense classes he finds one of the ladies intriguing.

Hadleigh has had a hard few years and enrolls in the self defense classes at the gym near her home. When she meets Easton she begins to see there is another way of life out there.  But can he be the one that takes her away or will his past be too much for Hadleigh.

I enjoyed seeing Easton grow as a person and how he handled Hadleigh. Easton really came into his own when Hadleigh made an appearance. I also liked seeing Hadleigh see there are people out there she can trust.  Easton and Hadleigh have a wonderful relationship based on a strong friendship but can that be enough for both of them after everything they had been through in their past.

#WOTR21 #Review – Off the Clock, Summer Loving Book 2 by Amabel Daniels

Off the Clock: Summer Loving Book Two (a standalone romcom) by [Amabel Daniels]

Nina
Live a little, they said. Relax.

From the moment I start this vacation, enjoying my time off seems impossible when everything flops. My luggage goes missing, my purse is stolen, and my reservation is not at all what I expected. Stranded and refusing to stay at a nudist resort full of interesting, retired folks, I have no choice but to leave, and run right into a sexy man who seems so wonderfully normal—and willing to drive me into town.

When he drops me off after helping me find a new hotel, I’m more than surprised when he returns, seeking nothing but my company. Breaking from my need to control every detail of my life—a joke on this bizarre trip—I accept his suggestion to share a room. His only condition: we keep it simple. One week, one bed, but no personal details. A fling. What happens in Cancun, stays in Cancun.

Simon
It’s been years since I’ve met someone who doesn’t recognize me as the celebrity I’ve become. So how can I resist the temptation to share my break from filming with this real and down-to-earth woman who has no clue about my status? She’s different, a welcome breath of fresh air dragging me out of the rut I’ve been in, and I’m not ready to let her slip away.

Her vacation is already off to a lousy start with rain, vermin, and sleazy men. It’s my pleasure to turn her trip around, but as we make the most of a holiday gone wrong, I err in thinking we could ever manage something with no strings attached. When she discovers my omission, learning of the fame I hid from her…it looks like one week in Mexico is all I’ll ever have with her.

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

NINA!!  Stop!! I flipping loved her.  She cracked me up so dang much.  I totally feel you on lost luggage because that is the worst. It makes the start to having a craptastic vacation.  I could totally relate to how she felt. But then I found it even funnier that she didn’t need luggage really given where she was staying for her vacation!!! LOL  When Nina runs into Simon it couldn’t have been at a better time.

Simon is stunned that Nina doesn’t know who he is and is actually appreciative of spending time with her.  Of course he is hiding secrets but everyone had a closet right???   But the two have a great chemistry and banter.  I absolutely loved the story and found I wasn’t able to put it down since I wanted to know what else could go wrong!!  LOL

Amabel Daniels lives in Northwest Ohio with her patient husband, three adventurous daughters, and a collection of too many cats and dogs. Although she holds a Master’s degree in Ecology, her true love is finding a good book. When she isn’t spending time outdoors, she’s busy brewing up her next novel, usually as she lets her mind run off with the addictive words of “what if…”

DJ……MMMMM yes!!!  I have been waiting for you baby!!!  I wanted to know why you have such darkness in your soul. You back story did not disappoint at alllllll.

Kymber….girl you need a damn hug.  When you fall for the wrong man, it makes everything terrible but, in your case, it puts your life in jeopardy.

Ricardo, dude…you are not every going to be good enough for Kymber or man enough to defeat DJ.  Just saying.  I guess the lessons your daddy taught you, you should have paid better attention too!!

This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat because it was so well written!!  I mean DJ being able to control himself when he sees the monster Ricardo is but also keep his beast at bay….yes please….he is a great character.

Kymber has my heart in knots.  I mean gahhhhh we knew why she did what she did was to protect herself and DJ but guuuurlllll give that man your heart!!

When the dramatic twist happens and Kymber is in danger, I was seriously so glad that DJs people were there to help him . He needs to find Kymber before the fates take her from him!!!

Guys this book…gah I loved it.  I loved seeing DJ tell his story and I LOVED the reaction because I was even like DAYUM!!!!!!!!!!

The women of The Homegrown Café Book Club are over 40, single, and loving it. Fate, however, has a different plan with a younger man for every last one of them.

Divorcée Tate Madison wasted fifteen years of her life with a liar and a cheat. Now she’s returned to her hometown to open The Homegrown Café, find a sperm donor, and spend time with her family and new friends. Encouraged by her fellow middle-aged book-club buddies, she begs a favor from her younger brother’s best friend—father the child her ex-husband denied her. Complications abound when she discovers she’s attracted to the man who wasn’t supposed to be more than an anonymous profile at the clinic.

Pig farmer Jim Cochon knows all about in-vitro fertilization, but he’d rather do things the old-fashioned way with the irresistible redhead he’s wanted to marry since he was five. Too bad she refuses his proposal the morning after their attempt to make a baby. He’ll have to convince her second chances are worth taking when happily-ever-after is at stake.

Review by Twinsie Dee

I bought this book and this my honest opinion

Tate just got out of a 15 year long relationship/ marriage after trying hard for a child but finding out not only had her husband been lying to her, and cheating on her but he also went and got a vasectomy without her knowing. No wonder she wasn’t able to get pregnant, so she got divorced and went back home to open a restaurant. Well little did the pig farmer who had a major crush on Tate since he was 5 know that she was back in town. Jim was Tate’s little brother’s best friend and was head over heel in love with her and she thought he was the perfect donor for her to get a kid from. Will she get the sperm she’s hoping for or will he think she’s crazy and run for the hills. This was such a cute small town story.

When her fingers aren’t attached to her keyboard, Mellanie Szereto enjoys hiking, Pilates, cooking, gardening, and researching for her stories. Many times, the research partners with her other hobbies, taking her from the Hocking Hills region in Ohio to the Colorado Rockies and the Adirondacks of New York. Sometimes, the trip is no farther than her garden for ingredients and her kitchen to test recipes for her latest steamy tale. Mellanie makes her home in rural Indiana with her husband of thirty-four years and their son.
