#Review #GoddessofDeath – Morana by Piper Laksari-Minenco

My name is Morana. The humans call me Death.

Forget all you thought you knew about myth and folklore. This is an unheard story; the story of death.

A new spin on mythology, told through the perspective of one of the most hated goddesses of them all.

Review by Twinsie Kelly

I am a lover of all things mythology so when I seen Morana, I knew that I had to read it. Morana is definitely an interesting and unique spin on the gods and goddesses that we have all come to know. Some we love and some we love to hate. This is a coming-of-age story about Morana, who ultimately becomes the Goddess of Death. Morana is struggling with the gift that the sprits are going to bestow upon her as she fears that she will be hated by everyone.

There is a LOT going on with Morana and the additional characters. The family dynamic is very tense but she makes every effort not to clash with them. She has a schoolmate, Athena, who is the “cool kid” that everyone loves but she constantly locks horns with on the daily. And then there is her girlfriend, Devana. She is so sweet and understanding.

The overall story is really good but there is so much potential for this to be really great! This is a short story and as you got closer to the end, it felt like there were longer breaks in between events. With the jump in between events, I felt like I lost a bit of a connection with the other characters and even Morana while she may have processed what she went through. Overall, the story is very intriguing and is definitely a page turner. I do wish it was a bit longer so that we could discover a bit more about Morana…there is so much more, I just know it!

This is a new author for me, and I didn’t realize she was a young author, but I am extremely impressed! I look forward to reading other works by this author.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

#WOTR25 #NewRelease #Review – Guarded From Treachery(Blade and Arrow Security Bravo Team #4) by: Gia Cobie

Like a dark and dangerous hero, he came to my rescue when I least expected it.

In the midst of a terrifying attack, a mysterious stranger came to my aid. Fierce but gentle, he chased off my attacker, protected, and comforted me.

Before he left, my savior told me to call if I ever needed him.

Did I think about it? Absolutely. Matt was the most intriguing and handsome man I’d ever met.

But that was before my carefully-planned life fell into chaos. Before I began to suspect the fluke attack might be anything but random.

No one else believed me when I told them my story, and I couldn’t really blame them. Even to me, it sounded crazy. But there was just something about Matt that made me believe I could trust him.

Weeks later, I still couldn’t stop thinking about her.

I told myself I was worried about Isla’s safety, and that was true. Though the police dubbed her attack an unfortunate fluke, my gut warned me there might be more to it. That she might still be in danger and I wouldn’t be around the next time to help.

It was more than that, though. I liked Isla. Admired her bravery. And her eyes—a deep, mesmerizing violet—were burned into my memory.

As the days went by, I debated whether to call her. Because, for all my confidence on the battlefield as a former Green Beret, when it came to women, I always hesitated.

Then she called. Said she was in trouble and asked for my help. And once I heard her story, I knew she was right.

As a security expert for Blade and Arrow Security, it’s my job to protect. But with Isla, it’s so much more than just a job. It’s protecting the woman I’m falling for.

Guarded from Treachery has a sweetly protective hero, a strong and courageous heroine, a team of former Green Berets, lots of twists and turns, action and danger, forced proximity, and plenty of sweet and steamy moments. No cliffhangers and a happily-ever-after guaranteed! (Can be read as a standalone!)

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

This is a new to me author. I was a bit worried about starting with the 4th book in the series but I had no problems jumping in and not feeling like I was missing things. I do have to say reading about the side characters makes me want to know more about them and will go back to read their stories.

Isla was attacked in a parking garage while leaving work one afternoon when a heroic stranger saved her. Then he stays and comforts her while the police investigate afterwards, he gives her his number to call if she needed him. After being attached a second time and feeling like she was being watched she tried reaching out to the police and her parents all who told her she sounded crazy. The only person she could think to turn to was her rescuer Matt.  But once he heard her story would he believe her would he help her or would he be like all the rest.

All Matt could think about was Isla after saving her from the attack. When Isla finally called and asked for help, he jumped at the chance. Had her drive to him since he was on duty protecting others at the time. After hearing her story, he knew they could help her knew there was something strange going on and he was going to protect her no matter what the cost. Matt and his group jump in with their investigation of what is going on with Isla.

I could not put this book down once I started it. I had to know what and how things happened to Isla. Between the Mystery of what happened to Isal and why she was being sought out and Matta and Isla relationship there was never a dull moment. I enjoyed meeting the side characters and want to know more about each of them. I loved watching Matt and Isla go from strangers to the relationship that evolved.  I loved the nickname Matt gave Isla, Isles.

I enjoyed this book and will defiantly be going back to read the first 3 books not because I feel I have to know what was going on in this one but because I want to know more of the guys Matt works with.

I loved this story and cannot wait for more. I have read paranormal before but this just takes it up a notch. So well written and the characters are so full of life. I truly cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us.

Sabrina Rue is a paranormal author who focuses on the human condition…with all the horror and beauty it entails.

Enthralled in the supernatural from a young age, she’s written more stories about things that go bump in the night than any other. She has much to share in the coming years…and it’s good to have you here to be part of it.

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I enjoy all the VC Warriors and now the Dark Guardians King snuck in and grabbed my heart form that first ballet scene. I love how he says what he wants when it needs to be said. He makes his own mind up on things doesn’t let others sway him. Amara, Joey’s Aunt, I absolutely love her. She is tossed in this world but she holds on to her spunk and sass. She knows how to hold her own and stands up for herself and others.

There is so much going on in this book and everyone is involved which I was not disappointed in. I love seeing all the characters.

Amara is something special not only to King but to all the vampires. Amara has a rare blood type but when evil finds her and turns her to a half breed it makes her blood even more special “Golden Blood” as they call it. Now all evil is after her to use her as a weapon. King runs into her after a wellness check is called for Joey who has not been heard from in a few days.  Can I say Amara gave King a run for his money when they first meet. Amara was used to doing things on her own protecting her brother and nephew. With King. all the Warriors, the Guardians, and all the mates around she slowly realizes she is not alone and what a big family is like.

King is determined to protect Amara and Joey because they are his now a part of his family. He will not let anyone harm them and if they do all hell with break loose.  And boy oh boy does all hell break loose when Amara is taken.  We find out how special her blood is and what it can do when King goes down and she is gone.

Daniel plays a big part in this book.  To be able to watch this man go from an infant, to a boy to the man he is today is an amazing sight to see. It is hard for the Warriors to see him as the man he truly is and not the boy they helped raise. I absolutely loved when Daniel had to do a little butt chewing. Then we have Steve well Steve is Steve and there is never a dull moment when he is present. Gotta love Steve and TikTok. Then we have Joey. I love Joey he is full of life and I love his personality. No matter how much he feels is resting on his shoulders he stays strong but I love that King knows how to get him though everything.

King is a true warrior through and through he can fight and doesn’t take crap from no one but his tender side the way he treats Amara and knows what Amara and Joey need is absolutely heartwarming.  He knows exactly what to say to them to help them move forward.

This book had so much in it learning about King, Amara and Joey but also finding things out about Danial and what is happening in the underworld.  Oh yes we even took a trip to the demon realm. I am excited for Kane’s book and I have a feeling his ‘Mate’ is going to be a good one if it is who I’m thinking and I have to say I am intrigued by her.

A few of my favorites:

He couldn’t help but notice how perfectly she fit against him like a puzzle piece he didn’t realize was missing.

“Never doubt for a second that I don’t want you, Amara,” he whispered, his hot breath grazing her skin. “Because when the time is right, I will have you… all of you.”

Hi! My name is Sarah Zolton Arthur. I live in Michigan. I have two sons. One lives locally and the other is off on the other side of the state from me living his best life in college. Being an author is my dream, but in my downtime, I grow herbs in my raised bed gardens to use in cooking. I also make teas, tinctures, and candles. The tinctures are for cleaning and deodorizing my home. Other than that, I love musical theater, The Great British Baking Show, The Masked Singer, and everything true crime. As you can see, I’m wild (haha).

How did you hear about this event?

Other authors

How many years have you attended?

This will be my third year attending WOTR. I’m so excited!

What genres do you write?

Contemporary romance and romantic comedy (including PNR rom coms).

What is a book of yours you wish more people read?

All of them. I’m proud of all my book babies. It just depends on what you’re interested in.

What is one fun fact about you?

Years ago, when I was a preschool teacher at a daycare, we’d take our kids on field trips. The leaders of the field trips would ask the adults for volunteers but none of the other teachers would do it. So in order not to disappoint the kids, I always volunteered. Thus, I’ve been tased in the foot (dropped me to my knees—I do NOT recommend it), and on three separate occasions, I’ve had two boa constrictors and an albino python draped around my arms and shoulders. After doing these things for my preschool kids, I kept it going for my own kids once they came along, and I wrestled an alligator and fed a shark. I dangled a fish over the water and the shark shot up to grab it. I don’t remember the type of shark.

Review by Yvonne

I read The Barter System when it first came out. I thought it was a fantastic story then but Shayne McClendon has outdone herself! Shayne has done something with this update that just blew my mind! I loved the original concept of this story and was wondering how she would improve on it. The new depths that she takes each encounter with the subjects just amazed me. I was so impressed with the way she rounded out each subject and showed us a little more of what Riya was thinking. As the story progressed I couldn’t wait to see what she would do with the next subject. Each time I thought ”Oh, she can’t possibly top that!” SHE DID!! There were a couple of moments that I actually yelled OMG!! I don’t want to give spoilers so all I will say is this is a MUST read!! You will never be the same after reading this story!

Shayne McClendon is the author of more than fifty published books and over five hundred short stories (and counting).

She writes heart-pounding romantic fiction as Shayne McClendon, thrilling paranormal romance as Sabrina Rue, and LGBTQ+ action-packed erotica as Charlize Rojos. She spends most of her waking hours writing in one genre or another.

In the summer of 2022, Shayne abandoned her ten-year hermit lifestyle to do a 12,500-mile writing road trip visiting readers across the United States and Canada. For the moment, she’s chilling in the Pacific Northwest.

She’s not sure she’ll ever go home again…but the stories are coming faster than ever!

Coffee consumption is too high, the amount of sleep is too low, but the words always feel just right.

If you’re looking for your next great read…you need Shayne McClendon! Her dramatic and erotic romances will grab hold and not let you go until the very last page.

Please join her on Patreon for exclusive stories and incredible behind-the-scenes access. She manages a fabulous reader group on Facebook (Good Girl Readers) and a page (Always the Good Girl)! You can find her just about anywhere by name.

#review #audiobook #MMRomance Bloom by: N.R. Walker Narrated by: Glen Lloyd

Keats McCulloch opened his florist shop in Sydney two years ago and he’s living his dream. Even though running his own business leaves little room for a personal life, he is very single, sometimes lonely, but otherwise happy.

Linden Acres has sworn off men for all eternity. Armed with his cheating boyfriend’s credit card and a floriography list, he decides to buy him the perfect farewell gift. The biggest, prettiest bouquet of ‘murder flowers’ his money can buy.

Keats convinces Linden to avoid possible jail time and go with a more subdued, somewhat passive aggressive bouquet of black roses and basil leaves. After all, nothing else says you’re dead to me and I hate you with such elegance.

Keats finds Linden hilarious and charming, and Linden thinks Keats is kind of wonderful . . . It’s too bad he’s sworn off men forever. Yet their paths cross again and again, as if fate was planting seeds in the hope that one will bloom.

Review by Twinsie Tenise

This book was absolutely perfect. I listened to the audiobook. I’m not sure if that made the experience even better but I loved this story and these 2 men. My face hurts from smiling so much.
Keates is a florist. He knows everything about flowers. The little game played throughout the book with flowers and their meanings had me swooning. Keates is a hopeless romantic. He showers Linden with all of his affection very early on. These 2 just clicked and when you know you know. Their relationship moved at a lesbian relationship pace and I loved every minute of it.

I would also like to add that I am obsessed with Glens voice. He is the reason  I love audio books right now. I could listen to the man read a phone book.
