I received this book for an honest review.

This is not my usual cup of tea, but it was interesting. Rose’s husband has died in a car accident, and
little lies start to come out about his activities. Rose has always relied on her husband for everything and
now has to try to come to terms with how much he kept hidden from her. She starts to suspect that
everyone around her is hiding things from her and her world starts to unravel.
I have to hand it to the author. Just when you think that you have it figured out a new twist is thrown in
and more lies come out. Even at the end when you really think you’ve got it there’s an even bigger twist.
There is no adult content and it suits the storyline that way. There is some violence, but you have to
wonder is it real? Did Rose imagine it? Is she loosing her mind? Things get a bit dicey here and there
especially when people start ending up dead. The real question is why can’t Rose remember anything
before the age of 7 and why is she having black outs? You don’t really see the real answer to that
question coming at all!

#Review – What a Dragon Desires (Star of the North Dragons) Book 3 by Ava Cuvay

Ulrik Drekison serves comfortably at the right hand of his oldest brother. As a Wood Dragon shifter, he is the peacekeeper, serene as the forests surrounding his Minnesota home. When a deadly pest invasion threatens the future of his family’s logging company and the entire state’s economy, he’s primed to battle the infestation but ill-equipped to combat his attraction to the voluptuous woman sent by an opposing company. Unaffected by his Viking good looks and his innate dragon sensuality, she trashes his calm at every turn. Yet, as antagonistic as she is, he can’t seem to walk away from her.

Eydís Helvig was born a dragon shifter… without a dragon. As an apex predator with no beast to back up her brazen attitude, her own clan rejects her and humans barely tolerate her. When she’s tasked to diffuse a small family logging company’s outcry about a bug crisis, she is inexorably drawn by the Drekison’s innate power and integrity, especially the hostile yet passionate brother, Ulrik. She yearns to set down roots she’s never had. But like everyone else, Ulrik and his family won’t want her, especially after her employer’s secret is exposed.

This novella is the third in the Star of the North Dragon series, which can be read in any order or as standalone novellas.

Oh, Baby Girl! Ulrik and his Viking good looks will never live this down!

I was pulled in right from the very beginning and couldn’t put this one down.

Eydis comes in like a wrecking ball with the intention of putting a hurtin’ on the Drekison’s logging company, but the only hurtin’ she does is to herself. She has become a force to be reckoned with in the industry and is cutthroat. What she didn’t plan on was falling for the Viking in sweats that say “Baby Girl” on the butt! You are going to have to read this one to know more about the sweats. I promise, you won’t be disappointed. After that awkward meeting, they continue clashing together. Neither of them can keep their hands to themselves but she continues to pull away. Both are going utterly insane! She definitely has some issues, but who better to work through those issues with than Ulrik? He’s gorgeous, funny, strong, and has a big heart (I may or may not have a little crush on Ulrik).

Ulrik is always second in command but always there to help in any way he is able. Eydis was dealt an incredibly horrible hand in life and she uses that to make her cold and hard. Both Ulrik and Eydis have a tough exterior but find that together, they are all mushy and stuff (I say that with the utmost love for these two). The push and pull between Ulrik and Eydis is very, very…did I say VERY? INTENSE!

Their secrets are related more closely than they could ever imagine. When they finally collide, fireworks explode! Thes two were made for each other!

***Review is for Cherry Burn***

Cherry and Dylan were high school sweethearts 10 years ago. Dylan did the unthinkable. He took Cherry’s virginity and then was abducted by aliens the next day! 10 years later he pops back up and wants to give Cherry an explanation. But a lot has happened to Cherry over these 10 years and she has become cold toward men. She has responsibilities and she doesn’t think Dylan deserves the time of day.

Dylan has had enough and won’t take no for an answer. He finally gets to give his explanation. While it wasn’t as explosive as I thought it would be, it was different.

Next comes the inner turmoil of these two before they can finally get through their own crap to realize they are in love. Their long lost love is super sweet and hawt!

This was a great quickie read with some laughs, witty comments, sweet and swoony, with the mouth of a sailor… this is it!

I received this book for an honest review.

They say that your life experiences are what make you who you are, and Nora has to learn a very painful
lesson and her friends along with her. Betrayal is a bitter pill, but sometimes the hardest lessons are the
necessary ones.
The magic in this story is a bit unusual, and Nora is different from anyone else. Nora’s magic is helped by
runes, but runes are not common knowledge, so she has to struggle to learn. She lives in a village with
the poorest of the poor, and only wants to help them. However, her good intentions backfire in a major
way, and the fall out is deadly. A very bad man is willing to do anything to find Nora and use her for his
own dark purposes, and he weaves plots within plots to gain more power.
There is violence, kind of a lot of violence towards the end. Nora’s friend has some special magic of his
own and some people come up with some not nice, creative ways to test him to see what he can do. As
well as a couple of battles. It’s not graphic, but it’s there. There is no adult content, and very little romance
of any kind. It’s a magical world of those who are gifted and have special abilities, and Nora who is
something more. The world building and character development are decent, but really it’s the unique way
the story unfolds that kept my attention.

#WOTR25 #Review – Drave: The Vampire King (Black Mountain Pack Book 6) by Miranda Lynn

ONE VAMPIRE KING WANTED FOR HIS POWER

I am one of the three oldest vampires on earth. When I learn my people are disappearing from the black mountain pack territory, it’s time to visit. It’s supposed to be a simple trip until Fate decides I’m finally worthy of a mate. Only the power hungry female I left in charge of my nest will do anything to get what she wants, even destroy what fate has given me.

ONE LYNX SHIFTER STANDING IN THE WAY

Life was perfect until fate decided to meddle. A good job, a stable home, and my precious cubs leave no room for a man or a mate. However, things take a sharp turn when the bar I manage is blown up and rogue wolves come hunting my twins. To make matters worse, my unwanted mate’s vampire ho thinks taking me hostage will force him to his knees. Underestimating a mother’s drive to protect her children might be the last mistake she ever makes…

Review by Twinsie Kelly

DRAVEN!!!! I couldn’t wait for this book and I was not disappointed!!!

While reading the Black Mountain Pack series, I was always intrigued with Marla, and while reading this book, I totally understand why. She is a hardheaded, say it like it is, take no crap momma! And what does someone like this need? The sinful patience of her mate. The strong mate that would burn the world to the ground for the woman he loves but also knows when to stop and hold her while she lets her crazy come out. D.R.A.V.E.N.

Things are going wrong all over the place. Draven finds that there is trouble at the local nest and there are sickly rogue shifters staying with the pack and asking about the kids Marla has taken in as her own. And the cherry on top is the bar has been targeted. Needless to say, everyone is on edge. Even with everything so unsettled, Marla is fighting the mating urge with everything that she has. And the shhhh that is about to go down! All the things that Marla and Draven have to go through will infuriate you AND pull at your heart strings.

This is definitely a page turner. There is so much going on and so many different worlds colliding that you can’t help but continue turning the pages to find out what happens next. Draven and Marla both get to see a side of the other that they had no clue about. No one knows why the fates chose to mate a vampire and a shifter, and we may never find out. However, the fates chose wisely for them. These two are the perfect match. Everything about each of them contradicts mating but they were definitely made for each other.  A MUST READ!

I purchased this audio book.

GAH!!  When book 4 ended I jumped into book 5.  To read book 5 you MUST read book 4 as it is a cliffhanger ending.

Meredith and Josiah have so much to deal with.  Meredith and Eva are captured and being tortured when they are saved by the pack….uhm I mean not pack but friends Cade, Cruz, Aaron, and Josiah.  We see a resolution to the situation of the shifters kidnaper storyline and then we have to find out what will happen with Meredith and Josiah!!

Meredith has big choices to make.  I mean she has a boyfriend who is a dick but she has him OR does she follow the mating call and what her wolf wants.

This book made me super excited and very happy with how it all ended.

Review by Brandy

This book is an interesting mix of different things. At first I thought this was going to be a LIT RPG with the
way it starts, but it’s not. It gives you a taste of the virtual game Darkforce then takes off like a rocket with
spies, lies, murder, and mayhem. Darkforce is a video game that the fourth horseman of the apocalypse
has created that has become super popular. I like the way the author took characters and incidents in the
bible and built on them and their story. I’m not a very religious person, but I know enough to understand
what was being referred to. This book has taken figures from the bible but it’s not a religious story. It’s a
story that takes biblical figures and builds on their story and what happened to their descendants.
There is a fifth horseman that was left out of the stories about the end of the world, and he’s about to ruin
the fourth horseman’s plans in a major way. Lily is an undercover agent that has been watching a couple
of different people, but is taken by surprise when the truth about these people start to come out. Lily’s
boss is willing to do whatever it takes to keep his secrets hidden, but her boyfriend becomes tangled up in
everything throwing everything and everyone for a loop. However, Lily has her own secret destiny that
makes her a major player in the end of days.
Technology has become more integrated into people’s lives starting with a chip that is implanted in
people. Only there is a nasty little secret about the way those chips work, and how they will help bring
down mankind. There are a couple of fringe characters that are followed and at first I wondered why, it
seemed more outside the story than necessary, but in the end the experience of these characters
provides a view of things on a larger scale when things start to go way south. There is violence with some
hacking, slashing, and shooting but no explicit adult content.

Most of his friends from High School still don’t even know his first name. Known only as either “Mulder” or “Agent”, there was an unforgettable moment when a girl he was dating expressed her confusion when a friend approached him and called him “Richard”. The ongoing joke was “Hey Mulder, where’s Scully?” Ironically he later married a redhead…

Then he comes to my town.

The closer he circles, the more aware of him I become.
His nearness is toxic, and yet…

There’s something about the darkness within him that calls to me, that speaks to the scars of my troubled past.
Only a truly violent man could understand my demons.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Oh man.  I admit I took this ARC not really knowing much except for its dark romance.  LOL  I like Measha’s stories so I was ready.

This book was EVERYTHING I could have wanted in a dark romance.  I mean Zack was *Chef’s kiss* dark and delicious.  He sees Harley while on a job but had to get to know her.  Know her he does *snickers*.

Harley’s life is awful. She has a sister who was murdered, and the town pretty much hates her for the loss of her sister and not her.  Wild town but that is the small-town dynamic right?  Everyone knows your business and has a say in it.

Harley finally feels free but mostly SAFE in the arms of Zack.  The two tumble down the story of her kidnapping and sister’s murder.  It was WILD!!!  I MEAN WILD!!!!  I had no idea what was going to happen next, but each scene had me saying “WHUUUUUU!!!!!!”  because Measha has the way of keeping you guessing while also busting your brain wide open with twists.

I am so excited for this series.  I cannot wait for book 2 based on the little bit we already know.  Any dark romance lover and any Measha lover will need this book to complete their obsession with her writing.

Measha Stone is a USA Today bestselling romance author with a deep love for romantic stories, specifically those involving the darker side of romance, all the possessive dominant heroes, and their feisty heroines. If you love a well deserved happily ever after, you will enjoy her books.

#review #newrelease #partofaseries Sweet Southern Heat (Magnolia Grove 9) by Ashley Cade

Kissing your enemy is never a good idea, especially when he’s your ex’s surly older brother. But in my defense, he kissed me first.

Landon Crawford has hated me for six long years. He blames me for the car wreck that stole his brother’s future. It doesn’t help that I ran away from our hometown after the accident, but there’s a lot he doesn’t know about that night. I’ve kept what really happened a secret from everyone, but the truth always finds a way of revealing itself.

I never planned to return to Magnolia Grove, but when my grandmother passes unexpectedly, I’m tasked with sorting out her estate and the bakery she left to me in her will. Sugar & Sage is in disrepair and desperately needs a facelift. Hiring our town’s only contractor is a no-brainer, but when he sends Landon to complete the renovations, not even the sweetest of treats can counteract his bitterness.

I try my best to avoid Landon, but fate is determined to keep throwing us together. And the more time we spend in each other’s presence, the more that line between love and hate begins to blur. The moment we give into our feelings, tragedy strikes again, leaving Landon with an impossible choice: fully give his heart to me or cling to what’s left of his crumbling family.

*Sweet Southern Heat is a complete standalone set in the Magnolia Grove Series. It’s a small town, enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine romance with plenty of steam and lots of tension and swoon

i was given this book by the author for an honest review

Olivia wanted to never return to Magnolia Grove after what happened in high school and losing her boyfriend in front of her eyes. She only returned to see her grandmother on special occasions and today was one she never wanted to deal with the fact that she was coming home for her grandmother’s funeral, her best friend was gone and she didn’t know what she would do except now she never would have to return to home where everyone still hated that i was the reason Lyle died. She isn’t the reason but the town already hates Olivia, so she just deals with it. Lyles family will never forget or forgive her and when Olivia comes face to face with his brother Landon shit was about to hit the fan. he wanted nothing more than for her to leave town again, his family had fallen apart, and Landon will never forgive her for that. life in Magnolia Grove was going to get crazy when Landon finds out that Olivia’s grandmother left everything to her and can these two set the past in the past or will the town really be too small for the both of them. Memories never fade, and traditions and legacies don’t die. this was the one that got me in my feels reading it, but oh so good.

Ashley is a USA Today Bestselling author who likes her small town romance extra spicy with a touch of angst, and a splash of humor. Her swoon worthy heroes will melt your kindles (along with your undergarments). She resides in Ohio with her husband and two sons where she pens emotionally gripping love stories about imperfect people who find their happily ever after.

Ellie Savage is used to promises. Her dermatologist dad and her psychiatrist mom run the Narcosis Clinic, a medical facility famous for ultimate makeovers, where disturbing issues are resolved while patients are beautified. Ellie discovers that her true self has been shredded to bits by the scalpel and the only way for Ellie to remember is to forget everything she thinks she knows.

“The relationship between Cole and Ellie is absorbing (it’s indisputably a mutual affection) while the twins’ dynamic–they’re supportive but playfully combative–is likewise effective. The plot eventually spins into thriller territory but shrewdly incorporates themes of parenting and self-confidence. Cypress’ prose throughout is colorful: a crowd getting into ‘a ginormous frenzy’ and Ellie walking ‘in a fog of convoluted memories and migraine medicine.’ Well-defined characters in a zigzagging medical tale rife with surprises.” –Kirkus

I received this book for an honest review

I read a lot, and it’s not often I feel the need to talk back to a book, but this one got me to holler a little and
my teen to look at me like I’m a crazy person lol.
Ellie has memory loss from something that happened to her at boarding school that was so bad her mind
won’t let her remember. She hides the fact that she can’t remember years of her life, and because of this
some kids at school think that she’s a bad person. Poor Ellie, I could tell something wasn’t exactly right,
but the extent of what was going on was a big surprise. How far are people willing to go for perfection? In
themselves? In their children? A long way, and it’s pretty scary sometimes. Ellie pays the price and then
some for her parent’s choices.
The multiple POV are done very well, and they show the different motives that can drive someone to try to
fix what’s wrong with themselves. This is only the second book that I’ve read with more than two POV
that’s flowed well, and is not confusing. This being the better of the two. There is a bit of heavy making
out at one point and some semi-nudity, but no explicit details.

Louise Cypress believes in friendship, true love, and the everlasting power of books. She has never met a vampire, but she has been to a Love Sucks concert on Valentine’s Day.
